If I could, I would…

Hey, Siestas! We will do our random drawing later today as promised and, if you don’t mind a little delay, post our biography winners within the next forty-eight hours so we can leave time for you to respond to this post. I learned something new about you over the previous post: YOU ARE READERS. And I love that. Get a load of the number of comments to that post! Of course, it makes sense when you think about it. Blog readers usually are…well…readers. I have already ordered several books from your recommendations and others of you mentioned titles that stirred up great memories of biographies past.I am a dyed in the wool book nerd so this totally spoke my love language.

I’ve been thinking about something since AJ’s recent post about stepping back from her LPM job for the sake of her family. In that post and in the one that followed, we hashed over the painful truth that, actually, no one can do everything and, unless our all is Jesus, no one can have everything. We have limited resources of time, energy, and ability. But, I thought it would be fun to list a few things (dreams, if you will) that we’d each do…if only we could. If only we were not limited by time, energy, and ability, or money, for heaven’s sake. How would you complete the sentence, “If I could, I would…?” Here are the ground rules: YOU CAN ONLY NAME THREE THINGS. You have to choose. Keep in mind, these aren’t regrets. (i.e. “If I could, I would…live my whole life again without making that stupid choice.” We all have plenty of those and they’re not likely to encourage others much.) The things we’re listing on this post are wishes! Dreams can say a lot about a person and reshape how we picture one another. For instance, maybe I’ll find out today that Moose Mama secretly wishes she could sky dive, or katiegfromtennessee has a long standing dream of being a zookeeper, or Sister Lynn has always wanted to take tuba lessons. You see, this could change everything. OK, well not everything. Not even much. But, for crying out loud, wouldn’t it at least be a little fun in a grueling week? Here are three of mine:

If I could, I would…

1) Travel to every country on earth.

2) Teach elementary school Sunday School.

3) Learn sign language fluently.

    And so many more! It was tough to choose – limiting us to three, that was mean! ๐Ÿ™‚ I just chose randomly; these aren’t necessarily my top-3. What a fun post!

    1. Live in a cottage in the country and write books, grow a garden, and have horses and chickens.

    2. Finish my basement and make it into a killer scrapbooking room.

    3. Vacation in the English countryside.

    1. Open a cozy coffee shop with a small area for books (I love them both!!). A place for people to renew, connect and be encouraged.

    2. Spend a year traveling the world serving others in their communities (disaster relief, building homes, etc).

    1. Sleep till I woke, get up and have my quiet time while Jesus wakes me up with His Word and a nice cup of coffee.
    2. Work out everyday.
    3. Go to a cooking school
    4. Learn to play the piano

    2. work 3 weeks a month & travel the 4th

    1. I would live each day as it comes, without worrying about what anybody thinks about it or about what I DON’T get done! 2. Decorate and remodel my home from top to bottom hiring out ALL of the work!! 3. I would finish my graphic design degree.

    1) Live in the same town with ALL my grandchildren

    2) Go to the beach any and every time I want

    3) Go to NYC and see all the old Broadway musicals

    1. be a wife to the same man until the day he or I died.

    2. experience childbirth (preferably with the help of an epidural).

    3. have 2,940,000 homes with 50 orphans each in them (there’s approximately 147 million orphans alive today)

    1. Own my own Krispy Kreme store. And eat there a LOT!

    Beth this is great! I learned from Melissa’s post how many biography’s I had read!!
    Amanda dear, you are so strong to take this stand and know God will provide.
    It is funny how some addressed this blog with: “I would if I could” and others said “If I could I would.”

    1. I would insist there be NO heartache.
    2. I’d be a teacher and teach grade 3.
    3. I’d learn to skate like a star.

    Own a horse ranch

    Go on at least one mission trip a year

    1) End human trafficking

    2) Be a ballerina. Just for fun. Just to impress my 4 year old daughter.

    3) Take my sister’s pain away.

    1) Become a trauma room doctor/neurosurgeon,heart doctor I would love to be “put on the spot” to save a life.

    2) go see Beth live, and have my picture taken with her like I see some of my Siesta’s have done.

    3) take a God retreat. Just me and God all by ourselves in a cabin in the woods for oh I would say three days or a week would be nice. Just me and God.

    Funny thing this made me cry. I’m listening to Praise music, I’m thankful for now and what God has done for me.

    1. Write a book of my Dad’s life…
    2. Take Family (extended family too) vacations around the world.
    3. Quit my current job to pursue my love for photography, turning it into a business, and use the money to support my ever growing family (this one also include my deep desire to have kids).

    I like to think that last one might just be possible. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1) Find a cure for Autism, thusly giving millions of adults and children (my own son included) a new lease on life.

    2) Get a Masters in Theology just because I love the scriptures, and I long for a deeper understanding of them and our GREAT God.

    3) Travel around the world with my wonderful husband and son!

    1. Learn sign language fluently. I love watching people who can sign!

    2. I would love to be able to memorize bigger chunks of Bible passages and maybe someday have the whole Bible memorized.(Maybe if I do the Scripture memory thing long enough?)

    3. Be able to wait on Beth and whoever would join her at the restaurant where I work.(That would really be a dream come true!)

    Well this is a huge praise for me because for almost 4 years my #1 thing would have been that I would stay home with my kiddos full time if I could and now (as of this month) I am! My sweet husband and I are finally on the same page and following the Lord’s leadership regarding this area of our life and I could not be happier!
    Of course it has involved some lifestyle changes (I never thought we’d be a 1 car family but it’s fine!) and I still have a lot to learn, but I am just so excited to finally be able to do what I feel God has gifted me and called me to do in this season of our life.
