Hey, Siestas! We will do our random drawing later today as promised and, if you don’t mind a little delay, post our biography winners within the next forty-eight hours so we can leave time for you to respond to this post. I learned something new about you over the previous post: YOU ARE READERS. And I love that. Get a load of the number of comments to that post! Of course, it makes sense when you think about it. Blog readers usually are…well…readers. I have already ordered several books from your recommendations and others of you mentioned titles that stirred up great memories of biographies past.I am a dyed in the wool book nerd so this totally spoke my love language.
I’ve been thinking about something since AJ’s recent post about stepping back from her LPM job for the sake of her family. In that post and in the one that followed, we hashed over the painful truth that, actually, no one can do everything and, unless our all is Jesus, no one can have everything. We have limited resources of time, energy, and ability. But, I thought it would be fun to list a few things (dreams, if you will) that we’d each do…if only we could. If only we were not limited by time, energy, and ability, or money, for heaven’s sake. How would you complete the sentence, “If I could, I would…?” Here are the ground rules: YOU CAN ONLY NAME THREE THINGS. You have to choose. Keep in mind, these aren’t regrets. (i.e. “If I could, I would…live my whole life again without making that stupid choice.” We all have plenty of those and they’re not likely to encourage others much.) The things we’re listing on this post are wishes! Dreams can say a lot about a person and reshape how we picture one another. For instance, maybe I’ll find out today that Moose Mama secretly wishes she could sky dive, or katiegfromtennessee has a long standing dream of being a zookeeper, or Sister Lynn has always wanted to take tuba lessons. You see, this could change everything. OK, well not everything. Not even much. But, for crying out loud, wouldn’t it at least be a little fun in a grueling week? Here are three of mine:
If I could, I would…
1) Travel to every country on earth.
2) Teach elementary school Sunday School.
3) Learn sign language fluently.
OK, how about you?
1. Own my own business
2. Live by water
3. Raise miniature beef
1) Live in a foreign country for six months
2) Cook my way through a cookbook without having to do the grocery shopping (because you can’t find everything at one store)
3) Be there when my father accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior
1~ Quit work.
2~ Volunteer and travel.
3~ Live in a place where there are true seasons. Spring-Summer-Fall-Winter!
1. Read every book that I own and haven’t read. 🙂
(Other women buy shoes, I buy books)
2. Take a road trip tour of the US, visit all the diners featured on the Food Network’s show “Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives,” hit all the National Parks, and visit churches in different states.
3. Sing in a Worship Band
I’ve been doing the Triple D sites. I did 2 in Houston in January when I attended the Siesta Conference.
1. Be a missionary
2. Learn to dance
3. Live in other countries (to really learn the people)
1) Spend a few months traveling through Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Greece & Italy studying Biblical events that happened in those places.
2) Study the Bible in its original languages (Hebrew & Greek).
3) Build a log cabin on a mountain with a private lake.
If I could, I would:
1. Learn to play the piano
2. Be a stay-at-home mom again & focus on Missions
3. Live in the country
1) Have 10 babies (natural and adopted) and teach them at home
2) Sing with a worship band
3) Move to the country in Iowa, close to family
If I could, I would…
1. Travel the world forever sharing Christ’s love and faithfulness.
2. Memorize every single word of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.
3. Talk with family and friends constantly about God. He’s everything.
I would be a stay at home mom…again!

1) homeschool my children
2) travel with my worship leader husband and sing praises to God all around the world with him

1. sing beautifully. i can’t carry a tune in a bucket, but i LOVE to sing. if only it was a pleasing sound to my own ears. 🙂
2. go on an archeological dig. the history, the thrill of the search, the culture… OOOHWEE!
3. move across the world, leaving behind jobs, stuff, and all that ways me down for full-time mission work.

2. Buy 20 acres and move all of my family on to it so that we could help and support each other (but still have our own space ; D )
3. Sing back-up for James Taylor . . . can you even imagine??
1. Be a professional student. I would love to start a new degree program every few years.
2. Get to be room mom and volunteer for each of my five children, coach all their teams, and take part in service projects and “date nights” with each of them individually.

1. Live in South Africa for a month or two each year.
2. Go to Australia.
3. Pay for adoption without taking any loans.
These are the first three that pop in my head.
1. Star in a movie/tv show
2. Drive a bumper car to work so I could bump everybody out of my way when I’m frustrated (road rage much?) Ha.
3. Pay a professional decorator to help me with my house

I had to think about it some…but I’ve come up with three:
1) Travel to the Holy Land and go everywhere Jesus went that the Bible mentions.
2) Learn to read and write music, especially guitar music. I love the sound of simple guitar in worship, no other instruments, just guitar and voices.
3) For God’s fame only, be a christian actress; like an extra on the set of FireProof, that would be an amazing blessing.

KatieG, Your guitar dream has hope! I teach guitar lessons on praise and worship songs on Youtube. I’ve got some easy and some very difficult. Look up Jordan Self on youtube and you might find some tips that can get your dream started. 🙂 By the way, if you’re a steven curtis chapman fan, you’ll take a liking my vids. I cover a lot of his songs and teach how to play them. If it weren’t for that man, I can (without exaggeration) say that I would not be who I am now.
And if my videos don’t suit your taste, Daniel Choo is another guitar teacher on Youtube that does christian music. Check him out too.

As I was doing this, I realized I actually have a lot more dreams than I thought I did. I have listed 13 so far on a personal list… some of them are actually doable, and I’m excited about that! In God’s timing…. 🙂 Thank you for asking us this question!!!
