National Day of Prayer

Siestas, today is the National Day of Prayer.  Let’s take time to focus our attention on praying for our nation. It thrills us that many of you are in other nations besides the U.S.A., and we welcome you to join in with prayers for your country.

If you’d like to, use the comment box to post a brief prayer. (That obviously doesn’t need to limit how much you actually pray, but it helps us as we moderate if the comments are not too long.) I’m going to let my words be few so that we can get to praying!

    Lord Father,
We have sinned and we need your grace and love today as in every day. We need you in America, we need you in Haiti, we need you in the schools, we need you in our homes and we need you mostly in our hearts…leading us.
Mostly, Lord I pray for the “least of these” who may not even know there is a National Day of Prayer or some title to some day, but know there is something called God out there waiting and wanting them. The orphans, young and old who need YOU to pick them up and let them call you Abba Father. Lord, I pray for these. Let me today, be a light to one of them…and that it may glorify only YOU.
    By His Grace,

    Marilee says:

    Father,
I’m so overcome today by heartbreak, for the ones I love and the ones that you love who do not share in your eternal salvation. Please Father make your presence known in this world to the blind.
I’m hurting for all the babies, unborn babies who will be hurt by abortion. I’m hurting for all of the little girls and boys who have to endure unspeakable horrors by adults. Please rescue them. Please Jesus, come back soon and rescue all the hurting babies and take them to Heaven with you where they will be saved, healed heart, soul and mind. Where all they will know is the love and joy of their Heavenly Father. I love you Lord and would be nothing without you. It is well with my soul Lord, but not my heart. Thank you Jesus for the price you paid for me so unworthy and this planet so unyielding and unworthy.

    Dear Jesus,
As I stop in the busyness of “momhood” for a moment, I want to thank you for allowing me to live in America, where I do not have to hide the fact that I believe in You out of fear for my life, or the lives of my family. I thank you for the men and women who have fought and still defend my freedoms every single minute of every single day, all over the world. Lord I pray that I never take for granted all that You have done and will continue to do, even in the midst of tragedy, for not only me, but for countless others as well.
Lord I pray too, for all pastors and their families, that they would be blessed for their work. Thank You for the sacrifices of so many, but especially thank You for sending us Your Son Jesus to save us all.
    In His Name,
    Donna B.

    Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray for your Holy Spirit to fill President Obama as he makes decisions that affect our nation. Please let him look to You for direction rather than his own personal agenda.
I pray for the unsaved members of my family who are so far away from me. Please, I beg, put someone in their paths that will witness and my family will be receptive and listen.
I pray for the health of my dear sweet husband. You know his weaknesses (heart and back), and I pray you will ease any discomfort and all us to have many more wonderful years of retirement together.
I love you more than I can even express, but I know you love me even more. Thank you for sending Jesus to save me from my sins, and it’s in my Savior’s precious name I pray….Amen.

    Father God,
I pray for our hearts to burn with a desire for the truth, that we will no longer be satisfied to feast, but that we will rise up and feed. “From the fullness of your grace we have received blessing after blessing.” Help us to overflow with grace for one another, that perhaps one after another may call on Your name because of a drop of grace that splashed on them. Bless those that protect us, serve us, teach us and lead us. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Thank you, dearest Lord, for hearing our prayers! Thank you for making a way through Jesus for us to boldly approach Your throne of grace so that we can find mercy and grace to help us in our time of need. Lord, we pray for our nation, we pray for our soldiers, we pray for our citizens and for our families. And Lord I ask for special grace for mothers – so many are lifting up heart-felt cries to You for their children in trouble and adrift, spouses who have gone astray, for parents and other family members needing your mercy and grace. Oh, the heart of a mother for those she loves! Touch our hearts, dearest Lord Jesus, with the compassion You showed while here on earth. Give us Your love for those You put in our lives so that we can be a willing vessel through which You work to touch their lives. Oh, Jesus, mighty warrior and saviour! We depend on You! We are lost without You! Lord, hear our prayers and look down with compassion on Your people here.
In the mighty, precious, saving Name of Jesus – the Name above all Names – we pray! We love You, Lord.

And may the pebbles of our faith in this bloggy pond make a mighty splash for the kingdom–a tidal wave of Jesus on every head. We love you, Lord. As our Compassion child said, Lord I pray that You would help us to always love You! Amen.

Father, You tell me in Your Word that I am to pour out my heart like water for my children. So many of our youth are leaving the faith for good. Our families are so busy with the urgent and forgetting the most important which is to teach our children how Your righteous right hand has worked so mightily in our lives. Forgive us for our preoccupation with our selfishness. Lord, as Ezekiel said, “‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned…” Have mercy on us, Almighty God. Give us wisdom to teach our children and grandchildren that they must first seek Your kingdom and Your righteousness and everything else will be added to them. And, Lord, may we lead the way by example. In the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, Amen.
