UPDATE: Ladies, our contact at Elam had this information to share today (4/14).
We are very thankful for the many prayers on behalf of Maryam and Marzieh.
They were not detained but we have been told that their court process will take a few more days. Once we learn of the outcome we will share it with you. Meanwhile we ask for your continued prayers.
Thank you for standing in prayer with us for them.

Last October we joined together in prayer for two of our Iranian Christian sisters, Maryam and Marzieh, who were suffering in prison for their faith. About a month later we got to celebrate as they were released from prison to await their court hearing. We recently found out that the court hearing is tomorrow, April 13, 2010. Siestas, please be in prayer for these women. Here’s the message from Elam Ministries:
Maryam and Marzieh need our prayer.
They spent 259 days in prison for their Christian faith. After their conditional release on 18th November 2009 from Iran’s Evin Prison, they have been convalescing and receiving medical treatment for the past five months.
Both of them still remain unwell, weak and suffering from various illnesses. However, despite their frailties they are determined to be faithful to the Lord and speak the truth in court whatever the consequence or personal cost.
Maryam and Marzieh’s court hearing has been set for 13th April 2010.
Therefore, on their behalf, during the next five days leading up to their court hearing we request your prayers.
Pray that:
The peace of God will protect their hearts and minds and keep them safe.
They will completely recover from their illnesses and be strong physically, mentally and spiritually.
They will know the presence of God in the midst of their trial.
They will be set free.
Maryam & Marzieh would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your prayers that have sustained them throughout their hardship.
Thank you for praying.

Thank you for the heads up- praying now…
Thank you for reminding us of these precious women. I will pray for them and request prayers from others that I know.
I just prayed and will continue praying for these two women.
“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:3-5
God, bless Maryam and Marzieh. Heal them, uplift then, and free them from their trials. They love you so much.
Lord I pray for and lift up to You Maryam and Marzieh during this difficult time. Please protect their hearts and minds. I pray for them to be healed physically, mentality, and emotionally. Lord be with them tomorrow and I pray for You to work on their behalf because they are Your children. Because the outcome is up to You Lord I pray for them to be set completely free. In Jesus name, Amen.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strngthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Is. 41:10
Praying…
When I read this I immediately thought about a song by Selah that I was listening to this morning as I walked. It’s called “I Bless Your Name” and the first verse says: “In prisoners’ chains…with bleeding stripes…Paul and Silas prayed that night. And in their pain…began to sing. Their chains were loosed…and they were free. I bless Your Name…I bless Your Name. I give You honor, give You praise. You are the Life, the Truth, the Way. I bless Your Name. I bless Your Name.”
I know Maryam and Marzieh do bless the name of Jesus and did while they were prisoners. I pray that God will give them total freedom from bondage in this trial. Thank you so much for giving us this update on them!
God bless!

I just sent this out to all the women in my Church in Utah to be in prayer for these two women. What a powerful thing we can do as Christian to pray for these two women. That God will get the Glory.
The LORD brought to mind Daniel and how HE shut the mouths of the lions. Praying for my sisters in Iran!

Oh thank you so much for letting us know! It’s an honor to pray for these precious ladies.
Praying!
What does it specifically mean that they were “in prison for their Christian faith?” For clarity’s sake, were they imprisoned for actually having faith in Jesus?
Here’s another link I found with more details. I’m not sure how accurate it is though.

I will pray! Thank you for the insight!
Thanks for letting us know Amanda! Just said a prayer and will continue to do so!

Oh, Father. My “trials” pale in comparison. Show Yourself mighty to them, for them, through them.
I will be praying for them. God will be glorified!!!
Praying!
Wow, thank you for the link.
Praying for them. Praying for God’s grace and peace over their lives, over their health. Praying for them to have courage and that God’s perfect will will be done. Praying that they have strength to endure. Be strong in Him, ladies! You are a real encouragement to me, to all of us!
I am praying too. A verse adjacent to where I was reading in Isaiah caught my eye this morning and it just came back to me now: “Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame.” Is. 26:11 Oh Father, let them see your zeal for Maryam and Marzieh!
Praying!
I’ll be praying for these mighty warriors. Let God’s work be done as He sees best.
I’m praying for my sisters in christ; thanks for letting us know.
(I meant a capital C for Christ in my comment) 🙂
Will lift them up in my poor prayers…

All Glory to you Lord Christ. May their trials be used to further your kingdom. May the Lord strengthen them and cover them with his grace and mercy. May the truth be spoken so that all who listen will have their hearts opened to receive Christ. May these women be healed of their afflictions and be free to share the Love of Christ. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Thank you Sister’s for standing up for our Lord and Savior. I am inspired by these two women and their faithfullness. Please keep us updated on their status. Thanks for the information.
Praying
I will pray for each of these specific requests, but above all for their freedom.
I can not even imagine what they have been thru.
Our Bible study group is meeting tonight and we promise to make this a matter of urgent prayer.
We will keep praying for these young women, for their light to shine in dark places, and for their health to strengthen, and for a good report following this court hearing, God’s will be done.
Thank You, Lord for their testimony!
I am covering these two beautiful women with my prayers and will spread the word. God can work mightily! Please keep us posted.
Peace,
Kim Feth
ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth with your mighty power and outstretched arm, nothing is too hard for you. I ask you Lord to hold these two women in your mighty right arm and protect them and be mighty in their situation. Heal them, restore them and fill them Lord with your spirit so that they may be a witness of the the mighty God they serve. The enemy meant this for harm but you oh Lord can work it all out for good. Strengthen them, infuse them with faith and courage, make your face to shine upon them and be ever so gracious to them. Help them to know they are being surrounded with prayer and that God has his steadfast eye upon them. Judges 6:14 the story of Gideon…the Lord said”Go in the strength you have…Am I not sending you.
verse 12..”the Lord is with you mighty warriors.!!! And may the peace that passes all understanding be with you in Christ Jesus. Praying. Stacey

Praying! May the LORD strengthen our siestas!
Oh Yes, I have prayed and will continue on behalf of these amazing young women. As a mother of sons around this age, my heart absolutely aches with love and prayer for our Lord to intercede and release them mentally, physically and spiritually to live their lives. Thank you Amanda for posting this request. Kathy, Austin
Hi Beth, I just finished reading Climbing by Rosalind Goforth and the enormous trials she endured with her husband Jonathan. I am so humbled by the suffering these women have chosen–it is a choice–to undergo for their faith. Yes, I will join in the prayers for my Iranian sisters. Thank you for sharing this.
I am praying for these precious women of God. They are living out the gospel for Jesus.
Their lives are an incredible witness. Let us think and pray for them instead of complaining over trivial things. We are so blessed to be able to worship in freedom.
May God have mercy on Maryam and Marzieh and minister to them as they face yet another hardship. May He give them the unbridled power of the Holy Spirit to cover them and go before them and behind them. May there be a miracle in that court as there never has been before. May thousands be led to Christ as a result of their faithfulness.
May those women sense the cushion of God’s protection as well as the uplifting of them in our prayers. Amen.
Wonderful of you to post this. Thank you in advance for further updates.
Praying, praying, praying…

Thank you for sharing this and I am praying for this court hearing. I am praying for God’s powerful presence to be felt by them and for it to impact that whole court room. May they hearts be kept safe and the hearts of those present be turned to Christ. In Jesus’ Love Kathy Knoblock
Praying now!
Dearest God, Abba to me and to those who believe, daddy…Please tenderly meet the needs of these children…God you are so real! Your promises are so that you are not slack concerning them! Lord, you know the purpose and plan you have for them…plans to prosper them and not harm them, plans to give them hope and a future…O Lord you are listening to each supplication that goes before you on their behalf. I will not say I comprehend all that you do and allow in our lives, but I know that you are good and doeth good! I know that the God of heaven shall do right. Father, I pray as I would want to be prayed for as I interceed on their behalf…God, you are God! BE God in all that have to do with Maryam and Marzieh…Jesus, thank you that even right this very moment you are interceeding for them as well at your Fathers right hand…your Father always hears you and answers you…I take comfort in that. Increase my faith LORD, increase my faith…it was with the faith of the four friends that tore up the roof of a home to let their friend be brought into the presence of Jesus…you commented on that in your word…Father, I am uniting with my siestas…I believe therefore I speak…to God be the glory.
