Living Proof Live – Tampa

There’s a story in the Moore family lore that involves my mother teaching her Sunday school class while she was in labor. As soon as she was done, my parents snuck out of church and headed to the hospital to have me.

We have a new story to add to the family lore that involves Curtis teaching Sunday school and sneaking away to the ER as soon as it was over. A few hours later, he was having an emergency appendectomy. The appendix had already ruptured (it was a “contained rupture”), so we are probably going to be here in the hospital for 2-4 days. My mom is helping with the kids right now and Curtis’ mom and dad will come toward the end of the week. I’m so thankful for their help.

Rich sent me the Living Proof Live – Tampa recap video, but my computer isn’t liking the Internet connection here and I can’t embed it. Here’s a link until I can make that happen:

LPL Tampa Recap

We would greatly appreciate your prayers both for Curtis and for my mom, who is preparing for the So Long Insecurity Simulcast that will take place next weekend. If you’re interested in finding a host site near you, justΒ click here. Thank you, sweet friends!
Love,
Amanda

I noticed that Rich also now has a video on Vimeo for the LPL event in Toronto. When you or one of the staff gets a chance, could you post the link for it on the Blog? I know that there are lots of Canadian women waiting for it to appear!

    Dear Amanda
I am praying prayers of thanksgiving that Curtis’ rupture was contained and prayers for healing and a quick recovery. How blessed you are to have family so close by for prayer and support.
I’ve just returned from LPL in Tampa, where we were reminded in a powerful way how important family is. We were so blessed by Beth’s message; blessed beyond words.
I will pray for strength and stamina for you and your Mom and all of those who will come along side of you in this trying time.
    Love and blessings

So sorry to hear about Curtis. Though the timing seems terrible, no time is a good time for surgery, and God’s timing is always right. We will pray that Curtis recovers quickly, and that you have the strength to be there for him. Bless you dear mother as she cares for her sweet grandchildren. I know that there is nothing else she would rather be doing. God will take care of the SLI event. His power is made perfect in our weakness. Many are praying for the event, and God can do what He says He can do!!!

Bless your heart! We’re praying healing and blessings over Curtis, Beth, Amanda, Jackson, Annabeth and extended family!

Two years ago we went through that with our (then) 8 year old. It ruptured and she never so much as broke a fever! The surgeon said it beat all he’d ever seen. It’s odd to say this, but when my daughter was in the hospital, we sat around holding hands, eating ice cream, walking up and down the hall and she and I grew closer than ever. She still comments on it from time to time. God’s good like that, and I’m believing He’s gonna provide your family with some crazy extraordinary time just like that!

That’s no fun, Amanada. Wishing a quick recovery and happy children. Maybe this can make you laugh while you wait:

While in unexpected (2 weeks early!) labor with my first, I insisted my husband take me to the salon (where I had an app’t for the next day). I begged the person in the chair to get up for a “hair emergency”… I told the stylist, “please, just give me a bang trim and 6 highlights on the top as I’m about to be photographed heavily, and totally unable to get out for a do!” Luckily it was her brother in the chair and he stepped aside. All the other ladies in the salon had fun timing my contractions. My poor husband!! πŸ˜‰

Right now I’m 36.5 weeks along with #2 – hopefully I’ll get my hair and toes done before the big day!

Praying for Curtis and your whole family. May God bless you with swift healing and peace.

I was at the LP Live Tampa (and I am still recovering!). Believe me it was a needed weekend for God to do surgery on my heart. I came with a desperate need for a Word from God and I left with a powerful one. I usually leave those conferences with a “high” so to speak but not this time. It was serious and so necessary. Beth’s testimony spoke volumes to my family situation. Believing for healing and restoration…

I especially loved that there were no sales pitches, no extras and you all did not even want applause. Leaving us singing to the LORD at the end of the conference was completely appropriate. Thank you so much for your ministry. You have no idea how you have impacted my life in so many ways.

    Much love to you guys.

This weekend at Living Proof Live in Tampa, my best friend of 11 years and I healed our relationship…she is truly my family. I have Beth and the amazing team that accompanies her to thank for that. The way God uses you is beautiful…and though I’ve never met you and probably never will, I love you like a mother. It’s true, Beth. You’ve mothered me without even knowing it. I am forever grateful. God is glorious!

OH MY, AMANDA!!! I’m so sorry to hear of it. I have already prayed, but will continue to do so.

Please know that Beth and the team have been covered in prayer for this upcoming simulcast for months. This is our big outreach event for the women’s ministry this year (nearly 600 will be in attendance). We have a large prayer gathering with the prayer team and the leadership team for the simulcast tomorrow night…I will ask the team to also pray for Curtis.)

We are praying the heavens down for a mighty work of God for all the simulcast sites.

I will so be praying for Curtis, you, and everyone else in the helping loop. I had an emergency appendectomy in 1989 right before my appendix was about to burst. Curtis has one strong constitution to have made it until after class. I was huddled on the floor in a ball because it was the only position I could stand to be in. My husband was to leave that morning for church youth camp, and unbeknownst (sp?) to us, the street crew that was working on our street had cut out the entrance to our driveway to pour a new one, so our car was stuck in the driveway.

Needless to say, the pastor put it in high gear and went to youth camp, the street crew took one look at me, dropped what they were doing, and lifted our car onto the street
(didn’t know that could be done), we deposited our children at my sister-in-law’s, and I made it to the emergency room. I have never been so sick in my entire life, and I have had 4 babies.

My dad had been telling my mother for years that having a baby could not be nearly as bad has having an appendicitis attack. He was so funny. After my surgery, before he even said hi, he said, “Now, Valerie; tell your mother which was worse – having a baby or having an appendicitis attack.” My mother still doesn’t believe us, but I said the appendicitis attack.

Glad Curtis didn’t wait too long for that surgery. God is good to have kept that infection contained. Isn’t He amazing!!!! I wonder how many things He does for us each day about which we do not even have a clue. Thank you, Jesus!!

    Lifting you up in prayer,
    Valerie Eades

    Hi Amanda,
I am sorry to hear that Curtis is in the hospital but very happy to hear that it was taken care of and that he is on the mend. You are awesome to be there with him through it all.
I hope that you were able to run home and pick up your new Francine Rivers book. I finished it last week and LOVED it! Just FYI: My hometown is interspersed throughout the parts where she describes the families move to the Central Valley of California. So cool to read it and see my hometown mentioned in print! That was a first, as we are relatively unknown! Hope that you enjoy the book!
Praying for your dear husband, you, your mom and dad and the kiddos!

I did! I started it last night with a little flashlight. I’m already sucked in!

Yeah! I know that you will enjoy it. I loved that it was based off much of Francine’s family stories. Made it even more “real”.

We had a teacher at our school have this happen. Tell Curtis not to start back too soon. Because it ruptured recovery may take a littl longer. Over doing it will only prolong recovery.

I have been praying like crazy for just everything! And you know what, God is calling us to pray BIG TIME lately, we had a ” twitter prayer party” the other day, because there were SO many needs of prayer. It’s about the little things…He sees us being obidient and praying, then HE does big things in the lives around us. Eph 3:20-21 style:)

I am looking forward to SLI so much, and one of the huge reasons is that it is
going to life changing for so many…I KNOW IT!

Blessings and Love to all of you!
He is going to “show-off” big time, we just all have to BELIEVE it!

Oh, my goodness, Amanda! I’m so glad that Curtis is ok and that it was a contained rupture! I hope his healing and recovery are fast and thorough! I know how stressful hospital stays can be as the spouse of the patient. Hang in there – ask lots of questions, and keep smiling! Try to sleep when you can and eat… I forgot to eat when my husband was in the hospital last year… praying for healing for Curtis, strength for you, peace for your kids while mom and dad are away, and energy for those carrying for all of you!

Living Proof Live Tampa was awesome and just what I needed. The Lord really gave me a word. Beth, I wish I could just sit with you for a week and soak you up. You were so close to me on Saturday! LOL! anyways, thank you so much for sharing your heart with us- I am going to the simulcast this weekend and looking forward to learning about insecurities- I know I have a ton, and knowing what the Lord is calling me to (one of two major things – and seeking for discernment in the time being!) yet I don’t fear like I am enough- or maybe I am TOO much – I don’t know. Probably shouldn’t be rambling on here either. I know you, and Amanda and Melissa read this…lol. Anyways, Beth, thanks for being a vessel -and girls, your momma is amazing! Your lucky to have her in both families!

Oh prayers for Curtis! That is so painful. My son did the same thing. He waited until the end of Sunday school class, came home and would not eat. That was when we knew he must be very sick. He gave me an appendix for Mother’s Day that year! Stay well and heal quickly Curtis!

Great story to add to the family lore – way to go Curtis! Seriously, I’m so glad all is well now. Will keep all of you in my prayers.
I’m really looking forward to Saturday’s simulcast – will be there with 3 great friends.
**Prayer Request** – Another friend was supposed to go w/ us too, but isn’t now. Siestas please pray for her. Satan is doing such a number on her….she is saved but is so “lost” right now.
    Thanks ya’ll. β™₯
