There’s a story in the Moore family lore that involves my mother teaching her Sunday school class while she was in labor. As soon as she was done, my parents snuck out of church and headed to the hospital to have me.
We have a new story to add to the family lore that involves Curtis teaching Sunday school and sneaking away to the ER as soon as it was over. A few hours later, he was having an emergency appendectomy. The appendix had already ruptured (it was a “contained rupture”), so we are probably going to be here in the hospital for 2-4 days. My mom is helping with the kids right now and Curtis’ mom and dad will come toward the end of the week. I’m so thankful for their help.
Rich sent me the Living Proof Live – Tampa recap video, but my computer isn’t liking the Internet connection here and I can’t embed it. Here’s a link until I can make that happen:
We would greatly appreciate your prayers both for Curtis and for my mom, who is preparing for the So Long Insecurity Simulcast that will take place next weekend. If you’re interested in finding a host site near you, justΒ click here. Thank you, sweet friends!
Love,
Amanda
I am praying for all of you! God bless and keep you all.
Praying for Curtis and Beth as well as you Amanda. So glad to hear that it was a contained rupture. Take care and hope you feel better soon Curtis!
Praying, praying, praying!!
Sending up prayers for your family, Amanda. Sounds like you have alot on your plate and with the very important event that will take place on Saturday, I pray this is not a hinderance or distraction that the enemy is trying to bring about. Keep strong in the LORD!
Will be praying!
Wow — you guys are a hearty breed! π Kind of reminds me of being determined not to go to the hospital too early when my second baby was born. By the time I got there, I could barely put one foot in front of the other. She was born 30 minutes later π
Dear Sweet Amanda,
Talk about giving a piece of yourself to The Lord! You, Curtis and our dear Siesta Mama are in my prayers. May the Lord’s healing, peace and rest fall on your family.
Much Love,
Casey

Amanda,
Praying for you and your family.

Dear Amanda,
I am so sorry to hear about Curtis’ emergency appendectomy. Praise GOD it was contained and the poison did not spread all over his body. I know Bibby will really enjoy this time with her beautiful grandchildren so you just focus on your sweet husband right now. And if Bibby needs any help, I am sure she can find over 1,000 of Jackson’s and Annabeth’s “SiestAunts” to help out!
Keeping all of you in my prayers. Now I know how to pray a little more specifically.
Love and blessings!
Roxanne
WOW. I’m so sorry you guys have to go through that! At least we’re in the 21st century where stuff like that is totally treatable, right?! Hang in there…
Jessica
So sorry that curtis is sick. We will be praying. I spent the weekend with your Mother in Tampa. Powerful. Always more than we can take in from our gracious Father. Our church in Key Largo is hosting the simulcast as well. Looking forward for another great word this weekend.
Praying for you and Curtis as well as your mom. We Georgia girls are incredibly pumped up about this weekend! CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!!

Sweet Amanda: Oh my goodness – bless you all! May God heal Curtis with a FULL and SPEEDY recovery. I know you will do everything you can to care for your man and keep things settled at home too.
Thank goodness for Bibby and Curtis’s parents too. (That just confirms in my heart that I did the right thing by postponing something to the summer to help take care of my grandbaby and my two daughters-in-love who are having babies in May.)
An unusual thing I could have listed on the “Ten Things Post” a while back: My mom had her appendix out six weeks before I was BORN – at 7 1/2 months pregant – back in 1957! My husband has teased me for years that that is why I am so “crazy.” Good crazy – you know what I mean!!!
May God give you the strength and stamina you need too.
Love you all,
GJ
praying for you all!!!
Amanda, so sorry for this interruption in your lives. I’m praying for a quick and painless recovery for Curtis and that you can feel completely at ease as your wonderful mother and mother in law provide the support you need right now- plus your children will have a great time with them. I’m so glad you have a mother willing to have done her “work” with the Lord, so that she can love and support you and your children in the way God created it to be- We love you dearly and thank you for caring about us. Kathy
Amanda, Curtis, Beth and family, I am praying for each of you this morning!! We are a host church for the simulcast (Morristown, TN if anyone is interested!) π And we are already praying fervently for Saturday’s event. It seems that every time there is a big GOD event happening, the enemy attacks in some fashion, I know Beth has shared this before, so I will add this to my list of prayer concerns for the simulcast.
Praying!!!….. So sorry for Curtis!…. And planning to be there with bells on this weekend!
You and Curtis are in our prayers. I’m so glad he’s doing well now.
My prayers go out to your family especially for Curtis. My brother had that last year and felt like he had a touch of the flu for a week prior. Never thought about older people having those problems. He was 50 when he had his taken out. Hope Curtis is better soon and so happy for you having such a loving involved family to help you. Take care.
My mother just had an emergency appendectomy the week before Easter! (She’s almost 70!) So, I can relate. And am praying.
Loved the video from Living Proof Live! My only question… When are you coming to Philadelphia?????
Amanda – I will be praying for Curtis, for YOU and for your mom too. Thanks for letting us know so we can pray. You guys have had more than your share of hospital time here lately… so thankful God is right there with you – Emmanuel!
Much love,
Becky
We are praying for Curtis and Beth.
Prayers going up for all of you! Thanking God that you can be with Curtis because you have your Mom to be with Jackson and Annabeth. When that worry is taken away, you can be free to take care of your Man!
Blessings for a quick recovery, so glad it was all contained (God had His hand on it til Sunday School was over!)
Praying for everyone in the Jones/Moore family. We love you all so much. “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15 :13
My goodness! Covering all of you in prayer…
Hugs,
Adrienne
Amanda, I just focused on my geometric design by my post- since I have no idea how to send a photo- I like my design and was just given a beautiful reminder of what was prayed over me not so long ago- my design fits it perfectly- My design appears (to me) to have four large wonderful angels of God in cross form protecting my family (the four figures in the middle) with the Holy Spirit moving around us- with a shaded cross design (stylized) in the background representing our Lord to me as the foundation- OK, I may be stretching it, but this is how my design affected me this morning and it was a blessing- again, we are praying for a speedy recovery for Curtis.
I am praying for both of them right now. Our Youth Pastor did the same thing a couple of months ago. He preached that morning. By that afternoon he was in surgery. I couldn’t believe that he preached in such pain. I guess that he wanted to see how Paul felt.
I am so sorry about Curtis and will keep you all in my prayers.
I decided to put on my security girl pants and purchase a ticket, so I’ll be attending the S.L.I. simulcast at a nearby church “solo” this coming weekend.
Yeah! Good for you!
Lisa-
You go girl, I plan on attending one near me as well…..and yes solo.
I’m in the Nashville area, if you are int he same area, maybe we can met up and then
not be alone.
Oh Becky, I would love meeting up with you, but I’m over in the Carolinas. Anyway, THANKS, and I pray the LORD blesses your socks off this Saturday!
I attended a simulcast event solo, but it was a church I was familiar with and had a great time! And for the first time in 11 years, I attended the Tampa LPL solo! (I’ve attended at least 11 LPL events either with girlfriends or my husband) I took a vacation day, flew out of Louisville KY, got a rental car, hotel room and sat with wonderful women both Fri night and Sat AM. They made me feel like “family”. It was a true blessing, I am still reeling from the message. My trip was so smooth, it was the time with the LORD I needed. And HE topped it off with me meeting Siesta Mama herself and the sweet worship team at a restaurant of all places. Thank you Beth for your encouragement…love you guys to pieces.

Praying for you and Curt this morning, Amanda. I was so happy to see on Twitter that he’s up and about today – what a blessing! Praying his recovery is so fast and painless that the doctors can attribute his progress to God alone!
Ouch! that must have been so painful for him! Tell him to get better soon! Of course – my hubby and I are a little bummed we won’t get to hear about John the Baptist this Wednesday. Wanted to hear what Curtis had to say about that.
Amanda,
Curtis must be a toughie or a dedicated Bible teach (or both) to make it through a ruptured appendix. Praying for your family. You guys have seen enough hospitals the last 6 months!
Oh sister, praying like crazy!
Will be praying that Curtis recovers quickly and that all will be smooth for the simulcast on Sat. I am sure that God will care for all the details. Blessings on all of you.
Praying for all of you and for the Simulcast this weekend….know it will be amazing.
So sorry but a great new story to add! Later when all is healed! Always pray for you and your family and love knowing the need of the hour! It’s hard to need to be both with your husband and the children, too! I’ve been there many times through the years….now as the grandmother I know the blessings on both sides. Keep your sweet head up!
Sorry that Curtis is sick, it sounds like the short version of appendectomy (I think) so that is something to be grateful for. Prayers all around for Curtis, your Mom and you.
I am so sorry to hear of your hubby’s hospital stay. Glad all went well for you all and keep us posted on his recovery. God must of had a message He needed Curtis to get out before the big recoup period began! π
Blessings

Praying here!
Praise God he finally went to the ER. My husband had a ruptured appendix for a week. His doctor thought he just had a virus and sent him home and I made him do sit ups thinking he just needed some exercise! Poor thing! So scary! Praise God for His protection!
Amanda,
Praying for Curtis’ complete healing! I know the power of intercession when the body is too weak to stand alone and thank you for sharing your need. Also, know that the simulcast is already covered in prayer. Our Lydia group met just yesterday in fact and lifted the entire team. I am believing and expecting for the women who will come who are drawn to the topic itself that do not have a relationship with Jesus. Finally, praying for you as you juggle your many responsibilities while caring for Curtis. Be encouraged. Ps. 46!

Wow! I don’t have to tell you how serious that is. From a sick baby to a very sick husband, I’d say you jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. So sorry and am praying for all of you. Praise the Lord for family nearby. I can hardly imagine just how bad Curtis felt while he was teaching. Now that’s dedication. And your mom did it in labor? Seriously? Mercy, mercy. What an example of servanthood. Just in case you’re having to sleep in a hospital recliner, may I recommend a great read? Have you started Francine River’s new book? You know, the one you got signed π On second thought, try to sleep, dear one.
I’m struggling with whether this posting just gives you more work to do or if this is a source of encouragement. I’m going to hope that if you’re overwhelmed, someone else is screening these.
May God heal thoroughly, completely, and without complications. Amen
Thanks, Kathy! I am just sitting here with nothing to do because – you guessed it – I forgot to grab my book on the way out of the house! So I’m glad to read your comments. I hope to run home in a bit and get my book and a warm sweater because it’s freezing in here!
And don’t forget snacks. That is unless you have an unusaul penchant for jello. Your own pillow (and Curtis’ for that matter)may go a long way as well. How in the world do you manage to encourage me while you’re smack dab in the middle of a crisis? I guess that would be years of example and experience.
Bless you my dear siesta.
Thanks for posting this for us here in Tampa with all you have going on in Houston. We will certainly be praying for your family and look forward to a good report for Curtis!!
Definitely praying for y’all!!
Joining the team in praying for your family! Wow! What a busy week for your mom! May God give her extra grace, peace and energy for the week before her! The timing does seem good in our eyes, but we can trust in God’s sovereignty! May she have a sweet time with her grandchildren!
Looking forward to Saturday with anticipation and much prayer!
Eleanor

Will be praying that Curtis will heal so fast it will be a great testimony to God’s healing power and our prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will also pray for Siesta Mama (Bippy). Can hardly wait for the weekend simulcast!!! We are a host church – what a privilege to the other women in our town.
Praise God for a “contained rupture”.
Blessings,

God Bless Curtis in his recovery, and saying prayers for you. Also I was at the Tampa conference and it was such a blessing I just wanted more. Your mom is such a blessing to us. I love reading the blog and keeping up to date with everyones
love Jenny
Heavenly Father,
We pray for your healing hands upon Curtis this week. We thank you Lord for the doctors that you have placed with him. We thank you for Bibby and her willingness to help out with Jackson and Annabeth. I pray they are having a blast together! Lord I pray that you would also help Beth to find the time to prepare for the Simulcast this weekend!
In Jesus Name,
Amen.
Amanda-
I am so sorry to hear about your husband. Praying for all of you!
Wow, I did not know your mom went into labor with you while teaching Sunday school! I’ve never had a kid, but it seems like your mom had to be pretty hard core to be able to pull off finishing the lesson and sneak out of there without anyone knowing she was having labor pains. That makes me love that woman even more π I’m looking forward to the SLI conference and I am praying for your sweet husband and your family!
