Living Proof Live – Tampa

There’s a story in the Moore family lore that involves my mother teaching her Sunday school class while she was in labor. As soon as she was done, my parents snuck out of church and headed to the hospital to have me.

We have a new story to add to the family lore that involves Curtis teaching Sunday school and sneaking away to the ER as soon as it was over. A few hours later, he was having an emergency appendectomy. The appendix had already ruptured (it was a “contained rupture”), so we are probably going to be here in the hospital for 2-4 days. My mom is helping with the kids right now and Curtis’ mom and dad will come toward the end of the week. I’m so thankful for their help.

Rich sent me the Living Proof Live – Tampa recap video, but my computer isn’t liking the Internet connection here and I can’t embed it. Here’s a link until I can make that happen:

LPL Tampa Recap

We would greatly appreciate your prayers both for Curtis and for my mom, who is preparing for the So Long Insecurity Simulcast that will take place next weekend. If you’re interested in finding a host site near you, justΒ click here. Thank you, sweet friends!
Love,
Amanda

Sorry to hear about Curtis. My mother did something similar when she had her gall bladder crisis. Sickness struck while she was in the middle of her Friday afternoon Bible class. She finished teaching the class – went 30 minutes over, of course! – stood at the door to say her farewells to all the ladies, then threw up in the trash can as soon as they were gone. (Sorry to be graphic, but you would miss the joy of the moment if I left that out.) She ended up at the ER a couple of hours later.

When he gets better, be sure to tell Curtis that when Jeremiah said that the Word burned in him like a fire when he refused to speak it, he was NOT referring to a ruptured appendix or a delayed visit to the ER!

    Blessings

Oh goodness, Amanda. What a weekend. I will so be praying for Curtis, you, your kids, and your mother while you live through the next few days. So glad Curtis was able to get to the hospital – and finish teaching his class ta boot! You Bible loving Texans – may the delivery of the Word of the Lord not be jettisoned by matters such as child birth or appendectomies!

I’m so sorry to hear about Curtis’ surgery but happy to hear the results. I’m praying that he has an uneventful recovery and this during the time that he’s hospitalized you can use the time to replenish your reserves ~ as a busy working Mom with little ones I imagine you have been hard at it especially with the addition of AB’s recent illness. You have the assurance that all’s well at home and being with Curtis you can see that all’s well with him too so, I hope you can use this time to rest and gather your strength as well.

    Amanda, Curtis, and Bibby,

My prayers are with you, what a blessing that the rupture was contained. The Lord loves you all and will be by your side to minister to your needs and provide His strength and His Mighty Presence.
I pray travel mercies for Curtis’ parents as they make their way to your home, and a sweet time with Bibby for Jackson and Annabeth. You and your mom are so blessed to have the relationship that you do. Remember to stay warm and prop a pillow up for you as you stay by your mans side (those hospital chairs are so uncomfortable) don’t forget your reading material. Blessings to you Amanda.

PS Praying to SLI simulcast and I will be attending solo at a host church. Your mom’s latest book has been a “God timed event” for me.

    Love Celeste

Wow!! Talk about serving the Lord Curtis (and Beth)!!!! Praying for his recovery (and you as you sit with him) and praying for the SLI event in Woodstock this week!!! I am so incredibly psyched about it. As if I don’t need enough help in this area myself, I am taking my sweet little insecure sister whom I love dearly and my soon-to-be sister-in-law who will have a profound effect on my brother’s life. I cannot wait to expereince the ways in which God is going to use Beth the LPM team this weekend!!!!

These videos always make me cry!!! It definitely looks like a great time was had by all πŸ™‚

Amanda, I will certainly keep you in prayer this week~ your kindness during my heartbreak last week was so much appreciated, you can’t imagine. One day I felt like my world was crumbling to the ground, but unbeknownst to me, God was churning the waters to create something more powerful than I could ever imagine. Since that day, so many wheels were set into motion, that even now (four days later!!) I am getting confirmation of His hand STILL at work!!! It is breathtaking and indescribable. And it’s not lost on me that this Wednesday is my 20th anniversary of being baptized and giving my life to Christ. God’s showering me with some early anniversary presents, and I am overwhelmed and loving every second of it.

I can’t stop praying that God will show up BIG to everyone I come into contact with. I told Him that He is the perfect drug, because He knows that when we see a little slice of Him in all His glory, we can’t help but CRAVE for the next encounter. Lord, please do the same for all of the women on this blog!! Reveal Yourself in all your splendor!! There ain’t no high like the Most High!!!

    I love you girls <3

Amanda- Good thing you got Curtis to the ER. My husband’s appendix ruptured the Thursday before LPL came to Shreveport, LA 3 years ago. He was convinced that it was just a stomach bug. I ended leaving LPL early to take care of him. He finally went into the hospital A WEEK later. To make a long story short, he nearly died and we spent two and a half weeks in the hospital. I was 8 months pregnant at the time. That is serious stuff! I’ll be praying for all of you.

I will certainly be praying for Curtis, Bibby, and you Amanda! What a wonderful blessing that it was a contained rupture. I have to thank you Amanda for recommending the Preachers Wife’s book “You can Wear Cute Shoes.” I immediately felt I need to order this for our pastor’s wife and for one of the young minister’s wives in our church. I can not tell you what a blessing they both say this has been. Thank you for sharing.

Well clearly someone told Curtis about that story of your mom and he just had to top her! Somebody needs to tell him to stop trying to compete with Miss Beth. It can’t be done. He might bust something trying….oh wait, he already did!

    sorry. couldn’t resist.

Seriously, I’ll be praying for you all as you adjust your schedules and expectations for an already hectic week.

My friend’s thirty-something year old son, Scott, drove himself to the hospital with his appendix problem. Upon calling his family, he told them he was at Methodist Hospital (in Houston) thinking that St. Luke’s was Methodist, because of the church. It took a while, but they finally found him at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. What is going on with appendixes of young men in Houston? The first few days were difficult, but he enjoyed the smoothies and pampering. Praying for you all.
