Good God-times and Cancelled Flights Home

I’M HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE EARLY FLIGHT WORKED! THANK YOU FOR PRAYING, SIESTAS! My man is so cute.

Hey, you Sweet Things!

How’s your weekend going? I have checked back into a hotel in Toronto. The first leg of my flight got cancelled and it’s a tad hard to catch that second leg without it. I got to the airport really early because one of the young women on the LifeWay event team had an earlier flight. It’s also Spring Break here so the Nashville team felt like we’d better not take any chances in case the airport was super crowded. After wandering around a while, I finally meandered to my gate. Not very long after that, the dude at the counter announced that my flight was cancelled and, due to overcrowding, there were no more available flights today.

The Lord and I just had a long dinner at the hotel restaurant. I’m not sure what He ate but I got a New York strip. Yep, in Toronto. I was so hungry! No, I don’t usually eat that way but during events, my stomach is too wonky to eat many normal meals. When it’s over, I have a one-track mind: F.O.O.D.

I am full of praise to Him. He gave us such a neat group here in Canada. This was our first LPL of 2010. We were delighted to have it here. God knew in advance I’d be recovering from surgery and would need to start the travel schedule later in the year than usual. Many months ago, long before I had any kind of health scare, He led the event planners to schedule our kick-off later in the new year than we’d ever started before. He’s so brilliant.

We had 3300 beautiful faces lighting up that arena this weekend and most of them were Canadian sisters. I wish you could have heard them sing. Many times Travis and the team stepped back from their microphones and let the women’s voices fill the house with God’s glory. We had an invitation like we always do and, though we hope they’ll come let us know if they received Jesus as Savior, we don’t pressure them to tell us. Today something happened that we’ve never experienced in 12 LPL years. In that raging sea of estrogen, A MAN actually came forward to receive Christ. Hold up. That’s not all. He was one of the security guards. How about that??? Does God love that guy or what? I didn’t get to talk to him but Kelly, one of our darling young event team members, did. If she hadn’t been so cute about it, I might have been jealous. As it was, I couldn’t take that from her for anything. What a memory that one will be! Lord, please grant him an unusual, contagious love for You and a voracious appetite for Your Word.

Well, your Siesta Mama is one tired woman. Pray me out tomorrow, you wild-praying-thangs. They are expecting the same weather tomorrow. The rest of the team got out okay this evening and I’m thankful for that. They’d had lots of problems on the inbound flight so I’m not bitter. I just miss that man of mine. I’m so homesick for him. I came in a day early so it seems so much longer than usual. Anyway, tomorrow will be here before I know it. I’ve got two different flights booked in hopes of getting out on one! Thank you, Michelle, my dear Hawk, for all your hard work this afternoon from Houston. You surely didn’t get a Saturday afternoon off! May God give you a double portion of rest in Him tomorrow. Your boss loves you.

Ok, Sweet Things, I’ll talk to you soon. Thanks for letting me chat with you for a little while. I was the teeniest bit lonesome.

I’m going to text my man. I love it when he texts me back.

Oh, and don’t forget, tomorrow is time-change Sunday. Spring forward!

I hope you got home okay today, Beth. I love reading your posts because I can hear you speaking the words as I read! I am in awe about the Toronto security guard. God works in amazing ways!!! Please be in prayer for my husband's grandfather, Jim. He had a heart attack this afternoon, has already come out of heart surgery and the doctors have given him a 50/50 chance to live. Our family would appreciate your prayers.

Thank you so much for coming to Toronto. So enjoyed you and your team. Kind of funny how God works. About a year and a half ago, we had a church split that took half of the congregation. Hearts were broken and dreams were shattered.

We were left feeling like we were in the wilderness for about a year. The last 6 months, God's message to us has been all about being willing to go on adventures, to have faith in God cause He can do anything.

God has done some tremendous things in our midst and He certainly is up to something new. Thank you for reaffirming what God has been saying!

    Praise the Lord!

I didn't read this in time to pray for your flight, so I just prayed for you and Keith instead. That God would bless your marriage and keep that passion for each other going strong.

I love you too, Michelle!! Such an awesome servant of God!!

    Hey Beth,

I wrote last night asking for the words you had us repeat at the end of the conference in Toronto – an important moment in time for me to receive and believe with a precious friend. The timing of this was all HIS! Although I've been following your blog for a few years I have just recently taken the time to figure out how to post. I realized after perhaps I need to give you an email in order to connect. If you or a staff memeber would be so kind to send along the declaration from the LPL event I would appreciate it. I see a few other requests since mine too.
Glad you are home. I just finished dancing (husband & kids away for the night) all over the family room to the Travis Live DVD – whoa that young man is gifted.

Thank you for coming to Toronto – and wearing our flag! On Saturday when the event was over – when the Praise team quietly left the platform – I could relate to Peter on the Mount of Transfiguration. He had seen his Lord transformed and wanted to pitch tents and stay. Beth, you and the Praise team led us to the throne where we had a glimpse of Jesus – high and lifted up! What an amazing weekend this has been. I was privileged to share it with my daughter and three other special young women. When we spoke the commissioning on Saturday – my daughter and I held arms and looked into each other’s eyes. I cannot tell you how special that was – and continues to be.
I am also reading SLI. I had just finished chapter 9 on Thursday evening. The very next day, to hear God tell me through you that He was doing something new, was breathtaking! The dignity and security I am now claiming because, as you quoted from 1 John, my confidence is knowing that it is the will of the Father for me; and whatever I ask in His will He will grant. I have taken your challenge to exercise the kind of boldness that excites our God’s heart – by thanking Him NOW for the dignity and security He is restoring to me! In SLI you shared six roots of insecurity and I have been exposed to 4 of these, several times. I am breathing so deeply and sweetly this weekend. Thank you for being so very transparent and obedient to God. He is transforming lives because of you.
By the way – the security guard who received salvation this weekend is not the one to the right of the platform. I spoke with him on Friday evening, Saturday morning and after the event. He was definitely listening and interested and asking questions. Please pray for Dominic. I believe he is definitely being drawn to the Lord.
Bless you Beth – and your man who graciously supports you ministering to us and for the prayers I am sure he prayed for you and us!

Hey siestas! I just wanted to give a shout out to two Mama siestas who totally took care of me and my friend this weekend in Toronto! We are college students who hopped on a train and came to the big city by ourselves! But the Lord was so sweet and sent two lil Siesta Mamas to take care of us!

We met them in the lobby of our hotel and they drove us back and forth from all the conferences and totally watched out for us! Stacey and Carol if you read this I just want to say thank you so much! We were so grateful for your caring for us and your excitement about Jesus and the conference and even us! You were so fun to be with we wont ever forget you guys!

Beth dear, what an awesome time my daughter & I had at the Toronto LPL this weekend. It is the most amazing feeling to be in the presence of God in the midst of a believers. The worship was out of this world!Travis & team, you rock!
I wept & rejoiced during worship as God's love engulfed me completely-it was just too much to bear.
Thank you Beth for speaking to me on behalf of my Father during the event.
Hope you had a safe trip back home.

Sweet Jesus! The testimony about the security man makes me want to shout and dance a bit at about half past midnight!!!!!!!!!! Last year at the event in NOLA my mom and I got to talk to a few of the arena workers there (a couple of ladies and a sweet, sweet man.) All were Believers, and all were interceding for their lost co-workers that were in our very midst. They told us that because of their positions on staff.. they aren't allowed to show any form of emotion or "spiritual expression." (That made me laugh.. especially when I saw the sweet, sweet man tapping his foot to chorus of "Lord, You're Holy!" I bet he was just achin' to beat the air with his fist!) I wish I knew how many security folks, concession workers, maintenance crew, etc. encountered the God of the Universe, the King of Kings, the amazing Love of Jesus as they work these events. (Can you even begin to imagine working a Lady GaGa show one weekend and then a Deeper Still conference the next. The very atmosphere would be night and day!!) I do know that where the Spirit of the Lord is; there is FREEDOM! Lord, I believe many arena workers in Toronto are still wrestling with the TRUTH that they heard this weekend. I pray that they find freedom in YOU! Meet them right where they are!! Use our new brother to lead his co-workers to You.

I'm so excited! This truly made my night!!!!!

Sleep well and blessings on your heads!

ps.. I don't really know anything about Lady GaGa.. I started with Widespread Panic, but there wasn't any women in that group. And Britney Spiers is rather old news now… but you get my point with the contrast, yes? I think Hannah Montana would have even worked πŸ™‚

Your theme/message was precisely what I needed. I sat there thinking, God, you are amazing… how he uses you to speak exactly what apparently so many of us needed to hear!
Travis and Team were also delightful – but my fav was when all us ladies got to sing alone… that was AMAZING πŸ™‚
Thank you a million times over…
please hurry back. We miss you already.

Sorry about the weather, Beth. Canada really isn't like that all the time. "Tronna" is a nice place when the sun is shining.
Or the Son is shining! I was one of those women singing our hearts out at LPL, and those times of praise were fantastic. The message hit home to several of the group I was with, as each of us could apply it to our widely different circumstances. "Do it Lord! New things, for sure.

Our church has been collaborating on a book to give to you filled with personal letters and photos from our members. I'm sure Wendy probably gave it to you. Beth,
Thank you for the way you and Travis' team humbly led us in worship before the Lord in Word and song. I still see the rolling names of God in my head as I head to sleep and wake in the morning singing "as morning dawns and evening fades…"
I want to let you know that the way the whole conference ended couldn't have been better thought out. To leave us singing at the top of our lungs to our heavenly Father and not distracted by people blessed my heart! We will continue to cover you your team in prayer as you continue to shine so brightly for him~ leaving people with a deeper desire to know their God and his Son!
May God now bless you as richly as He used you to bless us!

    Dear Beth,
Everything that happened this past weekend in Toronto was so orchistaded of God and such an anointing was on it. I could tell that it was your prayers and your team that allowed the moving of God's Spirit in all our lives. My two friends and I were all in the same boat so to speak when it comes to hearing from God Isaiah 43. These past years I suffered from depression, four overdoes and numerous trips to the hospital. I went away from my famly for three months to heal in a rhab center but still it was hard to leave my past in the past. When I heard your message I was so touched it was totaly for me. Although I read that scripture many times I finally heard truth. I went up and cried uncontrobly for the first time in my life, I know it was from the Spirit. You were behind me praying and I felt a wind as you spoke but could not make your words the the love that I felt I can not explain it as it was so profound. As a child I never felt love and wanted to die and this is the second time in my life that he used someone to hold me and love me I was in Jesus arms. Long story short I could not learn as a child because of the pain the abuse I was labled slow that day my coucilor said you have learning disability that very Friday when you came, I was crushed I felt defeated but after this weekend for the first time in my life I finished a psychology asignement almost (smile) it was about the child sex trade in Cambodia as I have a heart for the children, I did it and I know God helped me I know longer will believe the lie of the enemey. Also one of your team members held me and cried with me and it was so beautiful I still feel that peace. I just finished your study on Jesus the one and only and now I'm on to David thirty days into it loving every minute that too is a miracle
I thank you your honest especially about puting people up on pedisstool I used to do that and it was very painful. sorry for going on but I wanted you to know.
Please pray for me my dream is to write songs and raise money for the children, I want to help bring healing from that horrific pain because I know how it feels. Thank you again for being surrenerd to God for him to use you mightly. May God bless you all and protect you in Jesus name love in Christ your sister Barbara! P.S I think God came just for the security gaurd praise God!!

I wept & rejoiced during worship as God's love engulfed me completely-it was just too much to bear.
Thank you Beth for speaking to me on behalf of my Father during the event.

Thank you a million times over…
please hurry back. We miss you already.

Not sure what happened to your shoulder girl, but I had a torn rotator cuff surgery almost a year ago and it took 6 months to heal. God REALLY BLESSED ME during the time I had to be laid up. Hang in there and look for those gold nuggets HE loves to give during times like these. They were life changing for me.

    Try to rest in Him,
    Little Monkey's Mama

    Hi Beth,

I was at church tonight for our 'A Woman's Heart' study and our host announced that she read your blog and you said that for the first time ever a security guard came to know the Lord!! I had such goosebumps when I heard that as I do right now typing this because on Sat morning while I took a glance at two men in their yellow security jackets walking by, I pondered to the Lord and asked if they would be listening while they're working and if He would speak to their hearts too. PRAISE GOD!! HE IS JUST SO AWESOME!!!! It is just such an encouragement to see how God works, my heart wants to explode for Him sometimes.

And Beth, I just have to let you know that God did such an amazing work in your spirit when He created you! I just love your spunk and spontaneity! God continue to bless you as you work out His purpose!! You inspire me <3

That was one of the sweetest stories ever!!! I had to read out loud to my eighteen year old daughter, Annaliese, what I was so tickled about. When I read her the part about the man coming forward and that he was a security guard, she gasped with delight and said that is soooo cool!:) Thanks for sharing that with us. I will share that story with the ladies at the Breaking Free Bible Study tomorrow!!! Have a wonderful week, Beth! Cherri

    Dear Beth,
Everything that happened this past weekend in Toronto was so orchistaded of God and such an anointing was on it.
