Good God-times and Cancelled Flights Home

I’M HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE EARLY FLIGHT WORKED! THANK YOU FOR PRAYING, SIESTAS! My man is so cute.

Hey, you Sweet Things!

How’s your weekend going? I have checked back into a hotel in Toronto. The first leg of my flight got cancelled and it’s a tad hard to catch that second leg without it. I got to the airport really early because one of the young women on the LifeWay event team had an earlier flight. It’s also Spring Break here so the Nashville team felt like we’d better not take any chances in case the airport was super crowded. After wandering around a while, I finally meandered to my gate. Not very long after that, the dude at the counter announced that my flight was cancelled and, due to overcrowding, there were no more available flights today.

The Lord and I just had a long dinner at the hotel restaurant. I’m not sure what He ate but I got a New York strip. Yep, in Toronto. I was so hungry! No, I don’t usually eat that way but during events, my stomach is too wonky to eat many normal meals. When it’s over, I have a one-track mind: F.O.O.D.

I am full of praise to Him. He gave us such a neat group here in Canada. This was our first LPL of 2010. We were delighted to have it here. God knew in advance I’d be recovering from surgery and would need to start the travel schedule later in the year than usual. Many months ago, long before I had any kind of health scare, He led the event planners to schedule our kick-off later in the new year than we’d ever started before. He’s so brilliant.

We had 3300 beautiful faces lighting up that arena this weekend and most of them were Canadian sisters. I wish you could have heard them sing. Many times Travis and the team stepped back from their microphones and let the women’s voices fill the house with God’s glory. We had an invitation like we always do and, though we hope they’ll come let us know if they received Jesus as Savior, we don’t pressure them to tell us. Today something happened that we’ve never experienced in 12 LPL years. In that raging sea of estrogen, A MAN actually came forward to receive Christ. Hold up. That’s not all. He was one of the security guards. How about that??? Does God love that guy or what? I didn’t get to talk to him but Kelly, one of our darling young event team members, did. If she hadn’t been so cute about it, I might have been jealous. As it was, I couldn’t take that from her for anything. What a memory that one will be! Lord, please grant him an unusual, contagious love for You and a voracious appetite for Your Word.

Well, your Siesta Mama is one tired woman. Pray me out tomorrow, you wild-praying-thangs. They are expecting the same weather tomorrow. The rest of the team got out okay this evening and I’m thankful for that. They’d had lots of problems on the inbound flight so I’m not bitter. I just miss that man of mine. I’m so homesick for him. I came in a day early so it seems so much longer than usual. Anyway, tomorrow will be here before I know it. I’ve got two different flights booked in hopes of getting out on one! Thank you, Michelle, my dear Hawk, for all your hard work this afternoon from Houston. You surely didn’t get a Saturday afternoon off! May God give you a double portion of rest in Him tomorrow. Your boss loves you.

Ok, Sweet Things, I’ll talk to you soon. Thanks for letting me chat with you for a little while. I was the teeniest bit lonesome.

I’m going to text my man. I love it when he texts me back.

Oh, and don’t forget, tomorrow is time-change Sunday. Spring forward!

Wow… that is awesome news about the security guard! Praise the Lord.

My sisters and a couple childhood friends of ours were there this weekend. It's our first LPL (aside from 2 simulcasts before) and the first conference we've gone to together since we were teenagers! We're all now in our 30s and 40s.

We had an awesome time! Thank you for ministering to us. Praying that you will get a flight out tomorrow!

I am waiting for my precious daughter to arrive any minute from her spring break trip with girlfriends to Florida. She has been driving in the car for 13 hours. I know she will be glad to get home. Sorry that you were not able to get your flight out of Canada, but I am praying that you can get out on Sunday. My 2 daughters and I are so excited to be coming to see you in Atlanta in April. We are all so looking forward to it. Travel mercies going back to Texas. Love & blessings from NC!

    Beth,
I had the best Saturday morning with 3300 other ladies this morning. I am so very happy to read about the man who gave his life to Christ–I actually prayed for the security guards and all those men on the cameras and sound not knowing whether they are from your team or not, whether they are believers or not. I guess there is much rejoicing in heaven tonight over the one who has repented and come home.

And hope you get out on time and safely out of our rain soaked "Torono".
    Anna.

    Dear Beth,
At first I was mortified that you printed what I said. I figured that you would say "What a Brat" and push delete and no one would have blamed you, myself included. What I wasn't expecting was so much love from you and the other Siesta's. Just made me bawl. You did nothing wrong, just that dumb devil working overtime on my mind today.
Thanks for loving me even when I don't deserve it – you do shine so beautifully for Him..I love you so much Siesta Mama. Thanks for the hug…Sweet Anonymous

Praying you home tomorrow, safe and sound! It sounds like your weekend was a blessing to many, especially the 'security' guard that found him some new kind of security!! I'm noticing that word a lot lately–wonder why! God is working on restoring things in me.

I love your attitude, Beth! I was in the Denver airport this morning and saw several people get very upset about something that was out of the poor employee's control! I made sure I gave that employee an extra thanks for great service!

It's wonderful to be back in Texas, although I had to leave my new 13 day old granddaughter in CO.! See you Tuesday night, I've been keeping up with homework so I'm ready!

Praying for your safe journey home, that you make your flights. Glad to hear that LPL went so well and that souls were saved. Cool that a security guard came forward.

My oldest goes back to college tomorrow, and I am going to miss him, he is heading down south to Richmond, so I am hoping he has a safe journey as well.

I am excited for we are doing for the second time A Woman's Heart (your new version), starting Tuesday. The church we do this study at had over 50 women last time from 7 different churches. Pretty incredible to meet sisters from all over our area.

Thank you so much for doing the wonderful work you are doing for us. Beth, you are a blessing.

I just had this odd realization that the LPL for Minister's wives was exactly a year ago. Whoa. God broke me and used that as a launching point to grow me in this year more than I have grown in the past several combined. I should have worn waterproof mascara though. good year. GREAT God. It simultaneously feels like eons ago and only yesterday.

    Yay for the security guard!

    Dear Beth Moore
It's hard for us to think about you being even the teeniest bit lonesome, but we know that God had a very good reason for you not to be on that flight.

You've said how important it is for you not to miss worship at your home church, and it looks like you will. I'm just waiting for you to tell us how God's blessing was in this delay, just like you saw His hand at work in the LPL event scheduling.

My daughter Kate and I are looking forward to LPL in Florida in a few weeks. (You got to meet her in Orlando at Epcot last year.) It's our annual time with each other, the Lord and you.

Prayers are going up for safe travel tomorrow.

    Mama Beth,

In case you are hanging out in the hotel room moderating comments , I thought I'd tell you quickly about a young lady you are influencing for Jesus.

Her family is a mess. Alcoholic, suicidal mom. Don't know much about the dad except he used to be abusive. She is depressed and confused about where life is all about, and uses her beauty to mask insecurity.

She's a bright, kind, tender-hearted young woman. During recent family drama, her dad wanted to help by buying her a book. Her sister told her to get her "anything by Beth Moore" and told him about So Long Insecurity. He ended up buying Get Out of the Pit. And I'm thrilled that she's reading TRUTH for perhaps the first time in her 2 decades.

Thanks for being an approachable source for truth for women who may be intimidated by dealing with God's Word directly. You instill a love for truth and in doing so compel a deeper look at the Author of it.

Just wanted to say thanks. Hope you make it home tomorrow!

This is my first post. I met you at one of the book signings in Birmingham. There was so much I wanted to say and thank you for. I ended up saying nothing and probably standing there with my mouth open. I did get my picture with you. I posted it on facebook as "me and my BFF." Several girlfriends claimed you as their BFF's too. At the book signing you were hit with so many different emotions, one right after the other. I was amazed how you were there for each woman, one crying the next laughing. I'm sure you were tired at the end of that day! I'm a little ahead in our reading. I'm learning alot, and recognizing insecurity in other women. Where before I might judge a woman dressed immodestly, now I feel …like her in that I feel insecure too. I'm married to a great guy that sounds like your Keith. All I can say sometimes is I know he is truthful. Wow, have I asked some questions I couldn't handle the answer to. Anyway, lots of lessons being learned. Thank you so much for being such a huge part of my walk with Christ. I got saved at 17 and I knew nothing about the Bible. From doing your Bible studies I learned so much, I learned to navigate through the Bible. That was so intimidating when I was first saved. My Bible is highlighted mostly from my walks with you with Jesus. Thank you thank you thank you! I pray you get home to your baby tomorrow!

Beth, thank you so much for blessing us in Toronto this weekend! The Word and the Worship was God-breathed and God-honouring. I had the great privilege of bringing my 14 and 16 year old daughters with me and they loved this "Live" experience. Often while I have taught Bible Study in our home I have found them in the upper hall watching you by dvd with a notebook and their Bibles, hidden from view of my ladies but in line with the t.v.!! They repeated your commission to me with tears streaming down their tender young faces while I with tears of my own spoke over them. My heart was so blessed to invest and share this experience with them.

I have been doing SLI with you on the blog and indeed God is ringing that call to "SOMETHING NEW" clear and steady! Tomorrow is a NEW day and I know that His mercy and grace will sustain me there. It's time to enter some NEW verses in my spiral!

Praying for your rest and refreshment and a safe trip home to your loved ones. Know that you are loved by your Canadian siestas and we hope you come back again soon!

You have spoke to me and today has been my NEW day. Thank you for giving us the tools to hear God's word. I feel so blessed. In your blog you mentioned about in worship when Travis backed off from mic to hear us ladies singing – I was so overwhelmed this morning I bursted into tears – it was so beautiful – it should have been recorded. I even heard ladies harmonizing – it was nothing I have ever experienced before. Thank you for all you do. Until we meet again!

    Hi Beth,
Just a funny story. As we walked into Ricoh Colesium today the event staff checking our bracelets cheerfully said to us, "ENJOY THE SHOW!!" We laughed together wondering for what event she thought she was working. But I'm wondering if she was more informed than us for indeed GOD SHOWED UP in the assembly gathered today. And if we had eyes to see into the heavenlies we would have seen the full extent of the SHOW…with the enemy and his cohorts cowering, the angels rejoicing and God healing some, singing over others and quieting others with His love …. I believe He did all of that for me today.

Thank you once again for being faithful and obedient to God and blessing our lives.

You know I felt it on my heart to say this.
This community is so special, and so God-honoring. It brings me joy each day to come and see what my " siestas" are up to. And see, it may be the LPM blog, but I personally come to visit the blog not only to hear what Beth, AJ, or Melissa say, but to really just see what my siestas are saying, even those that I have not either have had a chance to know off the blog, or maybe its a new siesta altogether, but really I feel this blog is a " safe place" for those of us who share in the obvious commonality. We love Jesus, and we love learning about Him, and we love sharing about Him. I wonder how many who come to the conferences, or even this blog actually believe in Jesus, and see I want to say that when I see comments from those who are disheartened when they don't get a response, it really breaks my heart, because the focus in being here is clouded.
I want to speak up for all my siestas, including Beth and her girls– We have to stick together ladies, we have to keep this bond we all have here strong, and I personally think that the enemy tries to mess with us, because he is scared to death of us. He is the one with true insecurity…seriously:)
I hope I didn't ramble too much here, but I know the siestas that I do talk to off of here have gotten to know me well, and sometimes I just have to speak…so today, I spoke up:)
    Hope its alright with everyone:)

I love all of you so much:)!!!

Beth, I just want to say thank you for being so faithful to speak the truth of God to our hearts.
I wasn't even supposed to be at the conference this weekend…my husband and I are hoping to adopt a sweet baby from Africa and we were to be in adoption seminars this weekend…they were post-poned to a date in April. I was discouraged. It's been a bit of a rollercoaster…but we have seen God so clearly lead us here.
We are waiting on the Lord for His perfect timing…He already knows who our sweet baby is.
Through our home study process (which we're in the middle off) my past of sexual abuse has re-surfaced…eight years ago I spent many months with a Christian counsellor dealing with that, forgiving and giving it to God…but boy does the enemy like to try and dig in when ever opportunity arises…I was fighting the lies of the enemy this week.
God arranged for me to go to your conference this weekend…I was given a free ticket this week and my husband said "GO!" ๐Ÿ™‚
God is writting a new story…Isaiah 43:18-19 "Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history…be alert, be present! I'm about to do something brand new!" I don't want to miss what God is doing.
My husband and I have a 3 1/2 year old little boy…he is our miracle baby…we were told we can't have anymore children naturally…through a series of events we have seen God unite us and lead us to adopt.
This wasn't our plan…and there are times with all the paper work I feel so overwhelmed and wonder what we are doing…I'm calling it my "paper pregnancy."
I loved your story about Jackson and the building set…"That's not what I'm doing!" ๐Ÿ™‚ God has a plan for my family…He is up to something NEW!
There are many things I don't understand – John 13:7 I may not understand what God is doing…but later I will.
I can't wait for that new everything! What a glimps of heaven this weekend was…at times I just stopped singing to listen and imagined what it would be like to stand in the presence of God with all the saints and angels praising the King of Kings!
"Do it Lord, do it Lord.
Do it Lord, we are praying.
Do it Lord, do it that your Glory may be seen."
I want to see God, I want Him to do a new thing in and through me!
Thank you again for sharing your heart and God's truth with us.
So excited to welcome a brother into the family ๐Ÿ™‚
Have a restful night and a safe flight home tomorrow.
    In HIS Grip,
    Jennah

The Lord knew you needed an extra night before heading home. He has gone before you and is preparing the way. Rest well tonight!!

HOW AWESOME regarding the security guard!! Something similar happened at one of our ladies conference a few years ago, several people in the hotel lobby kept stopping by to listen as we sang, and they were touched and blessed by the Lord. They saw/heard Him high and lifted up!!! I'm sure one of them came to know him as their Saviour.

I'm still reflecting on our time at SMT…and the huge hug you gave me as I shared of my Ovarian Cancer…and your prayer!!! Still waiting for that healing, it will come.

    Dear Beth,
At first I was mortified that you printed what I said.

    Hi Beth,
Just a funny story.

My husband says, "So long insecurity for that man!" He's rather impressed with how he was much more concerned with God's impression of him then the 3000+ women. I just hope I get to hear his testimony in person one day! ๐Ÿ™‚
