It’s a gorgeous, cold morning in Houston, Texas and not a cloud in the sky. Let’s put last week’s severe weather fiasco behind us, Houston-area girls, and have us some Bible study tonight! (Some of you may know that we had 17 flakes of snow and it shut the city down. Exciting times at the Gulf Coast!)
We loved hearing from you northern Siestas who said that, all winter long, you basically schedule and cancel, schedule and cancel, schedule and cancel. And we think we’ve got Bible study problems!
One of my favorite things that has happened on the blog in the last week is hearing from at least 100 new commenters through last Thursday’s post. I did a shout-out to people who’d never posted and you immediately came out of the wood work, as my grandmother would say, and totally made my week! All the regulars on here loved it, too. You are a delight to us. Completely refreshing. Stay with it!
That delight got me in the spirit! Let’s have another shout-out today to a different set of newbies. How about some Houston area women who have never been with us at Tuesday night LPM Bible study heading our way this evening? It’s a completely interdenominational women’s gathering at Houston’s First Baptist Church at 7401 Katy Freeway. We start praise and worship at 6:30.
We would be jazzed out of our minds to have you! By this time in our series, we always have plenty of seats for visitors so why don’t you make the trip, brave the traffic, persevere to find a parking place, and come have Bible study with us? (This invitation is not meant to take anyone from an already existing Bible study group on Tuesday night. Stay with your own! But, it you’re not participating in another one, come get a Word with us!) Look for a LPM staff member or volunteer and tell them you are new with us and that you took today’s challenge. She’ll make you so glad you came.
Now, let’s open it up for your own shout-outs. If you have a Bible study (any day of the week) open to the public that you want to let your Siestas in your area know about, give the invitation as a comment to this post. I was so blessed that one of you wrote in a comment this week that you went to a new church last Sunday and met a Siesta and God caused you to feel welcome from the very start. Now, THAT’S what this community should be all about.
I am so honored to journey with all of you. Jesus is life, Girlfriends. Jesus is life. Let’s run after Him with every ounce of energy we have.
Please come as we begin the second half of Beth's Daniel study…the perfect place to start. Wednesdays at 6:30p.m. at Medina United Methodist Church in Medina, Ohio. We love Beth and you too!

There will be a bunch of us there and we always wait in front of the door about 3 hrs ahead of time and chat with each other before running in to get a front row seat! We will probably have on our Scripture memory t-shirts and boas or a Mexican sombreo to show we are Siestas. See you there!

OK, I got a word last night and am so glad I came. Thank you for the booklet and for letting the Lord speak through you.
I wrote about it here: http://www.i-get-to.blogspot.com
Beth, I know I'm not "answering" the question but I was so moved by the message last night that God had you deliver. I've been struggling with the "why" of Layla Grace and have been very upset-not depressed/grief stricken but just sad. I don't know if its because she lives 5 min from me or if because I'm a mom but I've been asking those hard questions of where is God??!! But last night the message went right to my heart. I cried all the way home. I am so in love with our God. He is so personal and always seems to give me exactly what I need.

PS I should have also said that all of the "coincidences" that weren't coincidences that got me to Bible Study last night I knew were the direct result of Beth and her staff praying for the people who were attending. I mean … how else can you explain that a parking spot on the second row just happened to be open at 6:50?!?!
Precious Jess (March 2, 9:14 a.m) in PA,
Oh, sweet sister, I just stopped and bawled and prayed for you. Thank you, thank you, for clinging to Jesus! We had our "celebration day" for the end of Me Myself and Lies yesterday. It's a time of food, conversation, a final charge from the teachers, and testimonies of what God has done over the course of the study.
One woman got up and shared how God had been so close to her, and how she had learned to reject the enemy's lies in her life, as she stayed by her husband's side in his battle with cancer. He died the night before our celebration, and she said she just had to be with her "ladies" to share that she spent her first night alone in her house, and it was ok. "God was with me, and I was ok." God is with you, dear sweet sister. We siestas will remember to pray for you. We must. We need to lift up each other.

Our Bible study group was just talking about how we could let more people know that we are "open" and eager for fellowship with anyone interested in learning more about Jesus and His Word! We are at Laramie Valley Chapel in Laramie Wyoming and we meet Tuesdays at 7pm – right now there is about 20 of us and we have babysitters if you want to bring your kids.

Dear Becky (my sweet sister from BVG!),
WOW!…that's all I can think to say right now. I am continually amazed by our amazing Lord! He never ceases to delight me and I am utterly delighted right now.
I am so so so very happy that you found Big Valley and that Pastor Rick was integral in leading you out of darkness and into the light of eternal life. Your story is just beautiful!
Rick is wonderful…just wonderful! But I have to remind myself that as wonderful as he is (and many others that I am meeting there), our Lord is the only one worthy of my adoration (hard lesson sometimes, just being honest!).
I've been at Big Valley for just over 2 years now. I would covet your prayers as I am in a position where I need to make a decision about moving closer to the church. I am an hour away (for the sake of privacy on the world wide web, I won't say where)and I am growing weary of the commute. ANd I love this church!
I am so excited to meet a new siesta and especially a "home siesta!". I will be in touch 🙂
Love you sister!
Bethany
Good Morning Beth!! Great lesson last night in Houston!! Thanks so much for sharing what God has taught you with the rest of us! I always leave inspired, touched and full of excitement about God's Word!
I wanted to let you know that my college daughter inspired me to get out and come to the Houston Bible Study. She is a sophomore at Furman University in Greenville, SC. She and about 7 other girls have been meeting every Friday afternoon for the past 2 semesters to go thru your Bible Studies. She has been so inspired and looks forward to each Friday and mourns when college studies don't leave enough room to spend more time on her "homework". I can see how much she is growing in the Lord and I thank you from a mother's heart for being such a leader (even thru the screen and books) for these young college women!!
Hey ladies!!
We have a college group of girls doing the "Esther" study on Sunday nights at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! Its at 6:00 in the union. I did the study myself studying abroad last semester and loved it so much (and learned SO much) I felt that the Lord wanted me to bring it back to school with me! You are more than welcome to come its an awesome, safe and loving group!!! Much love Siestas!!!….and don't forget, you were brought to this place "for such a time as this" Esther 4:14
I really don't know how to start this or if even this is where I should write this. But I want Beth to know this book came at exactly the right time and in such a way that it was a lifeline to me to God. Before Christmas my husband and I found out we were expecting our second child, my husband had finished his EMT degree and was offered a job. Wow, look at how God has blessed. 2010 threw me into a valley like I had never been before. With the pregnancy I had to get off my antidepressants and combine that with normal hormones and you have a CRAZY WOMAN!!! Not to mention my husbands job is in another town and he works for days at a time not coming home or seeing us. This is where it gets sticky. He works with a lady paramedic who I honestly believe is manipulating him and playing mind games with him. Even when he is at home with us. He is blinded to it. Thinks I'm wrong because I feel this way about her. It has come to the point where he wanted to leave, but praise God, it is not God's will for my marriage to fail, and He put us in the path of the right person to help us. That was 3 weeks ago. I feel my husband is in bondage to this woman, not in a sexual manner, no I believe he is faithful to me, but she has a spirit of control about her. Mix the pregnancy, depression, stress and just watch the insecurities arise. Some I never knew I had. Your book came to me in such an amazing way. I'm a fan of Mardel's on FB and they had a contest to win this book by posting your favorite Beth Moore quote…I posted "If God was faithful yesterday, he cannot be unfaithful today." and I won. 3 days later I recieved the book. It was slow reading at first for me, but now I'm underlining and I'm at the prayer. Halfway through it and I had a breakdown last night. I went in my room, shut the door and threw myself on the floor before God and gave him my marriage even though I'm scared to death. I gave him my children born and unborn. I pleaded the blood over my family and he gave me peace, stregth and honor. He is healing my mind and my heart. I still feel empty and anxious but he's here. I'm sick and tired of being controlled by negative thoughts, what if's and I wonders. God has a reason for this valley…He is making me into the woman he destined me to be AND I believe he is using this to mold my husband into the MAN OF GOD that he has destined him to be. That combination with God leading the way will SMACK the devil down. I'm scared of course, but God WILL NOT let me down. He WILL NOT destroy what I've entrusted to him. If he was faithful yesterday HE WILL BE FAITHFUL TODAY!!!!!

With so much love and care,

Sent a friend who just moved from Buffalo to Houston. Can't wait to hear how it went last night!
Beth, your excitement is contagious. I loved it when you said Jesus is life and we should run after him with all of our energy. You are making this walk of faith fun fun fun!
Our ladies are currently on week 4 of the revised edition of Breaking Free. We meet every Monday night at my home (Concord, CA). It's been amazing.
Just a side note, this morning while driving my 9 and 7 year old to school, we were listening to the "Lamb has overcome" CD. My daughter (the 7 year old) said mom, Beth Moore is on here. I said, yes she is but she does not sing on the CD. My daughter then replies with I know, she only speaks about God.
I loved it. Not only are you touching my life, but my 7 year old. Praise the Lord!
Jennifer
Yes, and if you come to Beth's bible study, you not only get the word, you get trivia. I learned that Mandisa was a part of Beth Moore's praise team once a upon a time.
I already have my ticket to Girls Night Out with Mandisa and Anita Renfroe.
To the Moore Girls and ladies in blog world. Let me just say, I am so happy to have found this blog. Thank you for writing this book. The "Insecurities" book has already started to make a deep lasting impact on my life since I finished it. Much more sooner than I thought…I was immediately put to the test. And, so far, I have been successful. Still have feelings of insecurities, but my actions and reactions are far better than I dreamed. I owe that to God and wonderful godly women like you.
I guess I should start with how I got started with the book:
My pastor's wife caught me one Wednesday night in the sanctuary and had your book in tow. She was literally RAVING about this book, even to slap my arm (with enough force to jolt me), she was that enthusiastic about it. She was telling me that I needed to read this book. I was surprisingly defensive, thinking to myself, "what makes this book so special"? I just gave her a long "ohhhh" and smiled.
I had purchased lots and lots of books written by Christian women and they just never seemed to "reach" me.
Fast forward to two weeks. I am in a Books-A-Million just killing some time and I walk past a table filled with random Christian books. Your book was in the midst of them. I tell you the truth, I just flipped to a random page in the middle and could not stop reading! Before I knew it, I had been standing there for over 10 minutes. I knew that moment I had to buy this book.
I began to read it this past Saturday. Sunday, I said the prayer (which is the GREATEST prayer I have ever prayed to God in my life) It was the most genuine and honest prayer I had ever prayed to Him, and truly heartfelt. I had never had that experience in prayer before. I felt it was just me and God and that he was actually listening to every word I was saying to Him.
I felt such a weight lifted from me that very moment I finished the prayer. And, I knew God was with me. I felt His presence like never before. Every day I say to myself, "I am clothed in Strength and Dignity".
I hope that every other woman gets the wonderful blessing of reading this book and it touches her life in such a way that she can notice a difference. I am filled with joy to tell women in my life about this wonderful book.
I am a long way from where I need to be, but I am looking forward to continuing on this journey with all of you.
This is a book that I will re-read over again.
Thank you again!

All are welcome we had a newbie just last night. I would love to meet another Siesta. I had the pleasure of meeting a Siesta last summer when the blog did MML together. What a blessing.
Tuesday Nights 7pm in Newbury Park, CA we have a great group of ladies from 8 different area churches. Living Oaks Community Church. Email me for details [email protected]
We are doing Siesta Mama Beth's study Breaking Free Updated Edition. We are in week 5's homework. This study is getting all in our business as Beth says but Praise God we will press through to Freedom in Christ in Jesus name.
Rosie, I'll take you up on "it." My very best friend in the world and her family live in the Atlanta area. She has homeschooled 4 boys and 1 girl (the oldest is 23, the youngest is 14), and her heart for Jesus is huge. If you'll email me directly, I can give you her email info.
[email protected]
I have no words of comfort for you, except truth that I stand on: God loves us, He is for us, and He is good. Even when men and women around us mess up (when my only-sibling's husband stomped to death their almost-2-year-old son; when my sister chose to stay with him even though her other 7 children were taken away by the state and adopted into other families; when she converted to Islam after professing Christ for 20 years), even when circumstances compress us so much that we can't breathe (infertility; homeschooling a special-needs child; deep childhood wounds sparking constant fear and insecurity). . .
Jesus loves us. He won't leave us abandoned and alone. He PROMISED.
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with My victorious right hand. . .And the joy of the Lord will fill you to overflowing. You will glory in the Holy One of Israel." (Is. 41:10, 16b)
Rosie, He will redeem you and restore everything that you've lost.
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
(Psalm 126:5-6)
He made our hearts, Rosie, so He understands everything we do. His Word holds true, and everything He does is worthy of our trust. (Psalm 33:15&4) His promises are backed by all the honor of His Name. When we pray, He answers us, and He encourages us by giving us the strength we need. (Psalm 138:8&3)
I'll be praying for you, Rosie:
Jesus, you see Rosie and everything that's happened to her, everything she's going through. O Lord, You know all about this. Don't stay silent. Don't abandon her now, O Lord. Wake up! Rise to her defense! Take up her case, Our God and our Lord. Declare her "not guilty," O Lord our God, for You give justice. Don't let her enemies laugh about her in her troubles. Don't let them day, "Look! We have what we wanted! Now we will eat her alive!" Let her hear You say, "I Am your salvation!" (Psalm 35:22-25,3b)
We depend on You alone, Lord, to save us. Only You can help us, protecting us like a shield. In You our hearts rejoice, for we are trusting in Your Holy Name. Let Your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in You alone! (Psalm 33:20-22)
Please be tangible to Rosie, Jesus. THANK YOU for the Siestas who You'll bring to her in Atlanta. I just know You'll come through for her, God. You promised.

I read this quote today and really liked it so I thought I would share it.
Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor in the morning the devil says, "oh crap, she's up!"
I want to be THAT kind of woman!
To Mommy Reavis: I love the name of your church! I would want to worship there just because of the name. And it's good to know that there are cowboys, or cowgirls out there loving God!

Hi to Daniela and Harbor Mom!
It excites me so much also to have a connection with other siestas through Big Valley. This is just amazing! Our God is so great…He never ceases to amaze me!
Let's keep in touch girls…you can click on my photo and get my email or blog address.
And Harbor Mom, didn't you just have a fabulous time at Patsy Clairmont???? It was wonderful…and I loved serving the body through that event (I was working one of the book tables, so if you purchased a book I probably saw you!).
Have a terrifically blessed day ladies!
Love in Christ,
Bethany
Jess,
My heart goes out to you and you are being lifted up in prayer for comfort in this time. I can't even start to imagine.
Rose,
I can start to imagine, because I've walked a similar (not identical, but similar) path. And you are also lifted up in my prayers. Be open and humble before God. Don't sugar coat it. Realize that your husband's sin has more to do with your husband than with you. And know that the God who put spots on the backs of lady bugs and blow wholes on the tops of whales has you in his tender hands. I'm in NC but am more than willing to be an e-buddy with you – if that helps meet your needs – [email protected]. Find a church where the truth isn't watered down but is preached 'straight up'.
Peace,
Kim Feth

You will receive a blessing…it is promised to us so come study with us.
Rosie – I am about…2 hours from Atlanta…and let me tell you, they have some incredible churches there for you to get involved in with some incredible women to lift you up.
I'm only 20. I can't identify with much if any of what you are experiencing, but I have been through rough situations where I have felt completely surrounded by darkness, but God calls us out. He calls us to no worries because He has everything in His control. He says DO NOT WORRY, do not fret, DO NOT BE AFRAID…because I have a plan, I've HAD this plan…and I'm working it for YOUR-YOU, rosie-GOOD. Now, like Beth said in one of her sessions (at passion I think?) – GOOD does not mean good like we think it does….it means beneficial. The tests and trials we go through will not be easy, but they will be beneficial in the end…to glorify ADONAI. I am praying for you. There is nothing more powerful than so many siestas lifting you up to the Father. Like the crippled man, sometimes we have to pick up part of another's cot to carry them to the feet of Yeshua because they don't have the strength to get there themselves.
Well, Rosie, sweetie, you have so many here praying for you…so many lifting you to Abba, our Father! He is our SHIELD, He is our ROCK, He is our FORTRESS, our DELIVERER, our PROVIDER. For ANY need you have…God has a name.
He is El Shaddai – the all-sufficient GOD. Be at peace in Him – let Yeshua rock you and hold you and bring you peace!!
have faith!!!
praying for you!
