I was in college when the Living Proof Live events began. I was kind of in a bubble during those years and didn’t quite grasp how the ministry was growing. One of the first events I attended was in Memphis in June of 2001. At that time I was newly engaged to Curtis and had just finished my junior year at Texas A&M. The event was in the Pyramid Arena and Kathy Troccoli was the special musical guest. Mom still remembers what she spoke about that weekend. The theme was “What if we let Him get to our hearts?” I could hardly wrap my mind around how many people came to hear my sweet little mama and I’m sure I was bug-eyed through the whole thing.
Melissa and I were both supposed to be there that weekend, but she never made it. For some reason she was going to have to leave later than us and she ended up getting stuck at the airport when Tropical Storm Allison stalled over our city. Seventy-thousand homes were flooded, 2,744 were destroyed, and 23 people died in the Greater Houston Area. It was a miracle that Melissa even got home from the airport that night. Mom and I were then stranded in Tennessee. We hitched a ride back to Nashville with the praise team and stayed with Travis and Angela for a couple of nights until we could get back home.
As you can see, it was a very memorable weekend!
Beth and the Living Proof Live team are thrilled to be heading back to Memphis on October 9-10, 2009. The event will be held at the FedEx Forum. You can get all the details here if you’re interested in coming and having a memorable weekend of your own.
I’ve heard that lots of Siestas are attending, so I want to give y’all a chance to connect with each other beforehand (if you haven’t already). LPM isn’t planning an official Siesta meetup, but that doesn’t need to stop you from meeting each other. So future Memphis Siestas, leave a comment on this post and let everyone know you’ll be there!
I am so there! Can not wait!!
"your mom goes to college"–kip
My sweet daughter and I have had our tickets for a long time. We are making it a mother-daughter weekend, complete with an "overnight" Friday night!
Amanda,
Like a couple of siestas mentioned, I too was there at that event. My first to ever hear your mom. There are soooo many wonders/questions from that event that still remain with me. The greatest being the burden placed on your mother before she came and the intensity of Friday night. Your memory of the tropical storm over Houston and Melissa not being able to attend may explain some.
But I always wondered when your mother "saw Memphis as a heart with veins and arteries…beating"…I wondered if God had placed that vision there because of what was going to happen on September 11th of 2001. Our country and the world did have a heart change.
Yes, Memphis was a memorable event and I can say I have "let go of many branches through these past 8 years and moved with God from 'glory to glory'".
Changed because He was, He is, and He is to come!
Much love to you all.
I wanted so much to be with you in Memphis …. but God had other plans for me. He has directed my path toward a Medical Mission Trip to El Salvador November 5th-13th and I don't have enough vacation time to do both. I had never planned or ever intended to plan a mission trip of any kind… but God has been doing a radical work in my life over the past 7 months… and when I surrendered it was 100%…which as we know can put us in places and situations we never would have expected to be.
I was part of the simulcast a couple of weeks ago… and that was such a annointed and powerful message for me. Thank you again to the LPL teams that worked so hard to make this happen.
I know that the Lord has something special planned for me and I am excited to find out what it is. To all those reading this…please say a prayer that our trip is safe and prosperous for His kingdom.
Beth, Amananda, and Melissa… thank you for all you do to lift us up…to lift up the kingdom…
You make us such a part of your family…there are times I feel like I could pick up the phone and give you a call or send you at text about something special that has happened. Thanks you for your openness. Thanks for your willingness to serve our Lord!!!
Luv Ya'll…
PS…I will let you know how my mission trip goes….
Amanda,
I was at that LPL event with a friend. It was an awesome time.
I bet Mamma Beth wanted all of her chicks under the same roof badly.
May it be a blessed event!
Anna
I hope it is a great weekend, and everyone has a good time. Sadly, OKC is a bit far.
Amanda, are you going to be in Memphis this year? I also attended the event in 2001. WOW..is what I say. I love attending these and go everytime they are close enough to Danville, KY. Just want you to know how every much I appreciate not only your Mom but you and Melissa also. Thanks for sharing your lives with us.
Loving Him,

A large group from our church in Henderson, TX are attending this conference next month…we are buying t-shirts to wear as a group so we will be recognizable to each other…we are so excited to be able to attend…I have never been blessed to attend an event that Beth Moore is speaking at, so I am so looking forward to being there…
I am soo there…I've got a couple of ladies from my hometown coming too! Can NOT wait!
See y'all there!!
Nikki
This will be my FIRST time to see Beth in person, my first LPL event. I have done DVD studies and simulcasts and have loved each and every one. My tickets were mailed to me in August of 2008! What a year of anticipation this has been and now it is only 3 weeks away. I have a group of 4 ladies coming and I would love to meet up with some Siestas there.
CANNOT WAIT! I lived in Memphis for 4 years while in pharmacy school and I am stying on Mud Island (my old stomping ground) and bringin my mama and two of our friends. PLUS…I am going to get to meet FACE TO FACE for the first time a couple of friends from the bloggy world!!! I am so excited!! I didn't get to attend the simulcast as the Lord gave me another assignment that weekend so I am really looking forward to this!! Praying God will send the 4th person to us soon…I have an extra ticket and I am asking God to reveal who He wanted me to buy it for. God bless you girls!!
Ladies from Hamburg AR and Dumas AR will be there. It will be my first live event. I missed the Houston Christmas event last year due to a son's accident so I am fired up about Memphis

Well, I wasn't planning on going, but now, I think I will! Woohoo! Happy feet…!
Hugs,
Adrienne
I live in Olive Branch but I am attending and working as a volunteer. I am SO excited about Beth being here. The last time I saw her in person was at Bellevue Baptist Church Women's Conference-does she remember that? I actually met her that day at lunch. What I remember MOST was her humility and her passion- give ourselves completely to God! I am so thankful Beth's passion has never wavered. I know this weekend is going to be fantastic.
Amanda, Olive Branch, MS
Myself and four other women from my Bible study will be there, we are driving from Ocala, Florida and cannot wait!!!! Would love to meet up with some other Siesta's.We have a 14 hour drive, but we are taking turns driving so we should all be awake and ready for the Holy Spirit!!! What a hard year this has been for all of us, what a time to soak in his presence. So much has happened in our families that we just want to feel his presence and know that he is with us…Can't wait…Lisa
So excited about Memphis! I was at the 2001 event and remember EXACTLY the same thing Leslie posted earlier. It was at that event that I learned to pray "Jesus, cause me to love You more than I love anything else". I've prayed that ever since.
I wish we had a Siesta gathering!! If anyone puts anything together, please email me!

See you soon!

Oh, and I also remember Beth making all of us take off one earring so she wouldn't be the only one wearing one earring. Her dangly earrings kept bumping up against the headset mic and causing loud noises. She took off her earring so it would not distract and then insisted (in the way only Beth can) that all 14,000 of us also take off one earring. Hilarious!!!
Fifty ladies from my church bought our tickets almost a year ago! We actually live in the Memphis area and couldn't stand the thought that the event might sell out before we got our tickets. We've done every one of Beth's Bible Studies and are looking forward to hearing her live. We are waiting to hear from God through His faithful messenger.
I will be there and I CAN NOT WAIT!!!! I agree with 3girlsmom you need to get you some ribs while you are here girl…they are the best!
Love y'all,
Allison Lee

Can I interrupt this post to apologize for clumsily interrupting the Scripture memory post to make my blog deput (first time ever contribute on a blog -anywhere). As I read thru the comments like a kid to see if my post actually showed up, about 75 posts into it I saw a pattern…scripture, name, city… and began to sweat and pray that I somehow pushed a wrong button and mine wouldn't show up like a sore thumb slap dab in the middle of this sacred pattern where everyone else was obeying the rule. Unfortunately it was there and immediately Amanda's song started humming in my ears…"one of these things is not like the other…" I'm just glad I didn't know how to attach my face to it all:) So sorry -tho I am known to have a knack for faux pas I'll try to do better. I love this blog -Ya'll have a blast in Memphis.
This Siesta will be there and hopes to meet some of ya'll.

ON my way! Then to Nashville for vacation.
We are staying at a Marriott Residence Inn downtown. Let's all meet somewhere…..Spaghetti Warehouse on Firday for dinner???
While there if you are not familiar with the area, Graceland, a Rock n Roll Musuem, Cotton Museum, Sun Studio's, Zoo, Pink Palace Museum, Dixon Gallery, endless…..
And yes ladies, Beale St, you can go to Beale ST and be a Christian. It's a party scene but they also have Gospel Music Groups playing as well. Dont' forget A Schwabs, a three story old fashion dry good store.
I was in Memphis in 2001. I belive she also talked about change and we were at the Pyramid and the symbol means change.
We are bringing 50 ladies from Conway Arkansa to Memphis on the 9-10th and we know that God will join us there. We are excited to hear what God has to say through Beth, what a joy it has been to walk this ministry with her……Pam
I'll be there! I'm flying down from Boston to be with my mom, sister and sister-in-law for the event!
Wouldn't miss it! I attended the last time Beth was in Memphis and many more across the south since then. I'll be bringing 18 ladies from our church next month. Excited that it is so close to us this year…only a couple hours! Already praying for Beth and those attending.

Was in Memphis in 2001 with a group of ladies from my church. Will be there again with one of my sisters (still working on our other sister), my 2 daughters-in-law, and my sister-in-law who is here all the way from Cameroon, West Africa. She and my brother are missionaries there and are home on furlough. It will be a great girl weekend for our family and I'm looking forward to hugging some siestas necks as well. My sister lives in Memphis, so we will be staying with her. Can't wait!!!

We had 10 women in attendence and for 1 of the women its her very first Bible study!! YEAH PRAISE THE LORD! It was a great night and already loving the study big time. Thanks so much to all the LP staff

Honey, I'll be there with bells on! I'm so excited! I was there on the event that you were referring to, Amanda, and what an event it was! I, too, have my own memory of that weekend. My birthday is on that Monday (October 6th)… and so a ticket to Memphis for the next coming event is the gift given to me by my sweet husband.
Let me tell you of another time that I was priviledged to have been served the manna of God's word from your mother. I had just spent a year with the 5th and 6th graders on Wednesday nights. We spent that year in the book of Genesis… and before we were finished I fell in love with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph!!! I felt ownership of them! I felt a kinship of the closest kind!!! It was right after we had finished that I found out your mom was filming the session for The Patriarch series. I hate to admit it, but my first reaction was jealousy!!! I was GREEN from head to foot. I wondered how she could talk about them with me being invited???
So…
I begged my darling man and he relented. I drove to Baltimore, Maryland from Alabama. Sat in on each session each day EXCEPT for those filmed on Thursday. For, you see, I do payroll on Thursdays. I've been doing payroll for my daddy since I was 16…. I'm much older than that by now. I actually left my vehicle in Baltimore, caught a flight to Montgomery, Alabama, early Thursday morning. Rented a vehicle to drive (in my own town!!!) Did payroll as fast as I could. Drove back to the airport. And got back in the nick of time to catch a return flight back to Maryland on Thursday night.
Just in guess y'all ever wondered….. I just thought you might need to know what extremes we girls sometimes go to to hear the wonder of God in His Word!
Like I said, I'm so super excited!!

I live in Southaven, MS which is just across the state line from Memphis. Saying I'm excited just doesn't describe what I am feeling!! A few years back I had the priviledge of hearing Beth in Little Rock. What an exciting weekend!! I have my wristband and CAN'T WAIT to hear what God is going to say through her here.
I was at the Pyramid in Memphis in June 2001. The place was packed. The message was one calling for change in Memphis. God is on the move and lives are changing here in the Mid South.
Redemption 2009 was a huge success. Everyone came with the hope and prayer to let God be the God of "this city".
God has been astouding by the lives that have been redeemed. About a year-and-a-half ago, a woman prayed to recieve Christ at my church. The woman had been born and raised in Afghanistan. Her entire family and all she had ever known were of the Muslim faith. Praise Him nothing is too difficult for our God.
About 50 women from my church will be attending. Can't wait.
I remember your mom telling us that she had never prepared for a weekend like she had prepared to come to Memphis. "Something big is coming." I have often wondered was He trying to prepare us for September of that year?
God is going to change lives. It is going to be a blast! Can't wait to be there.
See you next month!
Blesings,
Mary
Oh, I will be there…with bells on!!! I can't wait!
Memphis not quite close enough. Saving up and praying up for Houston in January. And then there's Louisville in '10!!
On another note, I was just at the Living Proof website (loving the Priesthood series, btw!) and WOW! If you haven't seen the new site you need to!!
Love and prayers to all,
Kelli

Amanda, I too was in Memphis in 2001 and I remember that event well! This year, I will be in Memphis again and this time my two daughters (13 and 22) will be with me! I am looking so forward to hearing what word God has given your mom to share with us and to get to hear it with my daughters next to me as well as a herd of women from our church!
I'll be there with 8 others. So excited!
Not going to make it to Memphis this year, but will be in Springfield with my friend, Megan. Can't wait!!

October 10 is my 40th birthday. I'd love nothing more than to spend it with Mama Beth drinking in God's word. However…as much as I've hinted that to my husband, I don't think he's getting the message. So unfortunately I don't think I'll be there.
You all have fun, though. I'm sure it will be great!!!!!
Kimberly

I bought 4 tickets a year ago when my 3 closest friends were all experiencing the darkest days of their lives to date. One moved to Nashville, one has gone back to work full-time to help her family financially, and the third (R) has had a bi-lateral mastectomy, 2 rounds of chemo, radiation and now has 4 treatments of herceptin left in her fight against a very aggressive form of breast cancer. She is bringing one of her new friends (B – also fighting breast cancer) with us to the Memphis event. This is the first thing R has been excited about in 2 years! Cannot wait to experience the weekend with friends who have been in desparate places and are hanging on to the Light. I know the Lord will have something profound for us in Memphis!!
Amanda,
I'm the one who is bugged eyed now at the LPL events. They are so awesome. God's Spirit is soooo palpable! I wish I lived a little closer (okay a lot closer) to Nashville – I could use a little bug eyed time. Hopefully next time Miss Beth and Travis hit California. Next year I think!
