I was in college when the Living Proof Live events began. I was kind of in a bubble during those years and didn’t quite grasp how the ministry was growing. One of the first events I attended was in Memphis in June of 2001. At that time I was newly engaged to Curtis and had just finished my junior year at Texas A&M. The event was in the Pyramid Arena and Kathy Troccoli was the special musical guest. Mom still remembers what she spoke about that weekend. The theme was “What if we let Him get to our hearts?” I could hardly wrap my mind around how many people came to hear my sweet little mama and I’m sure I was bug-eyed through the whole thing.
Melissa and I were both supposed to be there that weekend, but she never made it. For some reason she was going to have to leave later than us and she ended up getting stuck at the airport when Tropical Storm Allison stalled over our city. Seventy-thousand homes were flooded, 2,744 were destroyed, and 23 people died in the Greater Houston Area. It was a miracle that Melissa even got home from the airport that night. Mom and I were then stranded in Tennessee. We hitched a ride back to Nashville with the praise team and stayed with Travis and Angela for a couple of nights until we could get back home.
As you can see, it was a very memorable weekend!
Beth and the Living Proof Live team are thrilled to be heading back to Memphis on October 9-10, 2009. The event will be held at the FedEx Forum. You can get all the details here if you’re interested in coming and having a memorable weekend of your own.
I’ve heard that lots of Siestas are attending, so I want to give y’all a chance to connect with each other beforehand (if you haven’t already). LPM isn’t planning an official Siesta meetup, but that doesn’t need to stop you from meeting each other. So future Memphis Siestas, leave a comment on this post and let everyone know you’ll be there!
I live in Nashville, and I want to go so bad! I'm sure it will be a blast.

funny how "what if we let Him get to our hearts?" right up through last night's class STILL has the power to bring us to our knees/make us fall down as dead/- your "sweetlittlemama" can twist us "everywhichwaybutloose" with that question! she is a living proof live event!
I wish I could be there, but Canada is farther away than a short trip. I would love to hear you Beth…..Rebecca
We're bringing senior high girls from Fellowship Bible Church to this Living Proof Live event and we are fully expecting God to show up in huge ways! π
Count on our prayers for you Beth & the praise team as you lead us to God's throne!
I am a member at First Southern Baptist of Yuma, CO. We are HUGE followers of Beth and love her deerly!! We were one of the sites that hosted Beth's simulcast. We are putting together a church cookbook as a fundraiser for our Africa mission's trip we are taking in 2010 and was wondering if it would be ok if we put Beth's Texan sheet cake recipe in our book? Please email me at [email protected]. Thank you so much! We love you, Beth!
I am there and soooooo excited!!!
Question… is this going to be a simlucast? If not, how often do you have them?
I am attending! I would love to meet up with the Siestas.
I was there the first time too…very dizzy and sick feeling. Thought it was the shape of the building…lol. I was pregnant!
Not a chance this time though so bring it on Beth!
Sallie
I will be there…been counting this down since last August! Cannot wait!
Stephanie
I'll be there with a bunch of siestas!
Looking forward to my very first LPL experiences (I hear it's different than a simulcast!)
yeah!

I am so excited! I haven't been to LPL since you all were in Stillwater, Oklahoma! Looking forward to you being in our sweet city.
I will be there along with 19 other ladies from my church!!! I am VERY excited!!
I'll be there! CAN'T WAIT!
Getting to hug some Siestas' necks for the 100th time and others' necks for the 1st time!
I'm also banning myself from eating ribs between now and then so that I'm fully prepared for the awesomeness that is Memphis ribs.
SEE Y'ALL IN MEMPHIS!
Whoo Hoo!!!!!
I'll be there with Wendy, "Mom of Eleven" (12 now!)
Counting the minutes! Can't wait to hug everyone!
Emmy : )
i am jackie from platte city missouri, but i will be driving the 8 and a half hours to memphis! I have a brother who is a pastor in memphis and i will be staying with him and my sister in law laura. I would love to meet other Siesta's! i was at the 2001 event with laura. she is a very conservative pastor's wife and wears only dresses, ever. we somehow got parked in the wrong place at the pyramid and there was a fence between us and the building. she did not hesitate one bit to climb that tall chain link fence. what a hoot! nothing would have kept us from it! we still laugh about it! can't wait for Oct 9!!!
I will be in Memphis coming from Dallas.

I already have my ticket and can't wait for October! I would love to meet up with the local siestas, so keep us posted. I've been in Memphis about 8 years now. Thanks for sharing that story. I would love to go make some memories in Texas sometime as I've only driven through it on Hwy 40 and never really stopped to hang out. π
Completely bummed that I CAN'T COME! Too much going on in October but January in Houston is looking good..:)
Praying it's a sweet homecoming for the LPM team. Nothing like full circle..:)
I will be there, driving 8 hours from Cincinnati Ohio Friday morning and leaving after Saturday's session to get back home in time for church on Sunday! I am so excited to see Beth live and in person! My 1st time hearing Beth was a from a video at our woman's conference at church in 2008, then I was at the simulcast last month, watching from a church in my area- closer to seeing her in person, but not close enough! NOW I am coming to Memphis with 2 other ladies from my church, we are so excited to be coming down to Tennessee! I can hardly wait!
Lisa
I was at the event, too. Beth taught from 2 Corinthians 3:18. I recall a nurse in the audience made the connection between the fact that we were meeting in a pyramid and Beth was talking about our metamorphosis/change, the symbol of which is a triangle. Very cool moment. I also remember that Beth was very troubled by the fact that the audience was so white, considering the African American population of Memphis. She said she would not return unless there was a promise for more African Americans in the audience. I hope she sees that this time! Funny the things we remember…
I AM SOOOOOOOO THERE WITH ALL THE WOMEN IN MY FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!! we are driving in from Dallas and can't wait to meet our other blog friends!
Oh, and didn't Kathy call Beth onstage to sing with her. That was so funny!
Amanda, I too remember the weekend your Mom came to Memphis. She challenged us to make a difference in our city. My name is Wendy and I am the City Coordinator for the Memphis event next month.
We know that this is ordained from teh Lord hat your Mom will be with us this year in the city of Memphis. Earlier this year the Lord laid it on Priscilla Shirer's heart to come to Memphis though an event entitled Redemption 2009. Again we heard the message to come together as sister's in Christ. A great amount of time and effort went into the event with women of all races and cultures coming together for the week-end. Since that time prayer meetings have been being held all over the city of Memphis.
Now, it is time for your Mom to come. God is up to big things in Memphis. While you may hear of the many shootings and murders and crime, I am here to tell you churches are reaching out their hands to each other as never before. We are taking hold of each other regardless of race, church location or culture. Be assured we have work to do but much is being done.
We have been praying for this event for the last year as we have prepared for this weekend with your Mom, but all volunteers have been praying for this for the last 30 days through a prayer guide.
I invite you sista's, to come to Memphis and join us as we ask God to change us and touch us through our time with the Lord.
We are over 13,000 strong so far. Praise God for the things he is doing. If I can help any of you with questions about the Memphis event, or our area, please email me at:
[email protected]
We are going to celebrate God on the week-end. "We have our eye on the goal where God is beckoning us onward to Jesus. We're off and running and not turning back." Phil 3:12-14 The Message
I look forward to seeing you all soon.

I'll be there! It's about a 6 hour drive from Atlanta…
(just need to decide if I should drive through Birmingham or Chatanooga to get there!)
Got my tickets back in January, since Memphis was the closest one to me this year.
Can't wait to see those of you again that I've met already, and meet the rest of you! π
I will be there! I live in the area, but this will be my first event. I am so excited! Yeah!!!
I can't wait to see what God has in store for us that weekend.
Oh I'm so blessed to get this opportunity to see Beth, again!!
I'm coming with with my daughter~in~love, it will be her first event!
Memphis holds special memories for a friend of mine that is coming and also for me.
Both of us have had sons in treatment at St. Jude.
My son is a brain tumor survivor and my girlfriend's son won his battle there. He is now with Jesus.
Looking forward to coming to Memphis and not going to St. Jude!
PS I'll do that in NovemberΓ’β’Β₯
Looking forward to meeting some Siestas!
PS I'm from Baton Rouge!
I didn't know that an event was scheduled for Memphis! I live two blocks from FedEx Forum. I am a grad student, so I don't have a lot of extra funds for activities. However, I will be praying for the team on that weekend. Memphis is ready for the presence of God to rain upon us though this event.
Definitely going! A first for our family… my twin daughters wanted a trip with mom to hear Beth Moore for their 16th birthday so Memphis it is! We are so excited and can't wait to hear what God has for us!
I'm looking forward to seeing and finally meeting face to face many Siestas!
Much love,
Dedra
I am SO there! Plans already made!

Oh, how I wish I could be there. I've never been able to attend an LPL event, but just went to Deeper Still in July. I love your sweet little Mama and am better because of her obedience to our sweet Savior!
Hope you all have a great time!
Warm in Alaska.
Six of us (from Kosciusko, MS, to Jackson, MS, to McComb, MS, to the Gulf Coast) have had tickets for close to a year and have been just waiting with bated breath to get to LPL in Memphis! Cannot wait!

AJ- Talked with someone today at LPL about an extra ticket we have and aren't going to use. We want to get it to you in time should I just send it to the P.O.Box?? I don't need any tax info just want to see another Siesta get to go!!
A bunch of ladies from my church (Highpoint)are going and I am so excited!! If anyone decides to meet up beforehand, let me know! Praying that God will work in the lives of all of us and praying for you sweet "siesta mama" as you prepare for the event!
I just completed the Esther study this summer – my first Beth Moore Bible study and I'm hooked!! I loved it!! My friend and I are going to Memphis traveling from Northwest Arkansas. I can't wait to hear Beth in person as I fell in love with her teachings on DVD. I'm excited to get to hear her in person and I pray that God continues to use Beth to get other women addicted to Bible Study. Thank you Beth and thank all of you for all you do!! God Bless you.

LPL in Memphis 2001 was my first LPL too! I remember it like is was yesterday. So you can imagine I'm tickled pink to be back there again in October. So, yes, this Siesta is going to be there and is planning on meeting up with a bunch of Siestas. Cannot wait to see y'all!!
Much love,
~Cheryl (Prof)
I will be there and can't wait!!!
Hi ladies! If anyone has questions, you can send them to us at [email protected] and we will be happy to get them answered for you. Thanks so much!
Awww, man!!! I'm in the Nashville area… So close and I can't go!!!! Bummer. (I have a Praise Symphony Concert that night in Clarksville…)
Have fun. Wish I could be there.
I will be there. So LPM isn't planning aget together. (Notice serious sad face)
Well ladies I will be there and am meeting up with ladies that I haven't seen in over 5 years. We were military wives in our previous lives and a few of us have since changed paths. We are so excited to see each other again and report what the Lord has done for us. YEAH!
I remember that weekend well b/c I was in Houston for a wedding and we ended up spending the night at Pappacitas (sp?) where the rehersal dinner was held! A memorable weekend for everyone, for sure!
As previously mentioned on the
"Random and Sublime" post,
my husband and I will be there. And we are so excited to hear your "sweet little mama" and to be led into worship by some of our favorite peeps on the planet. We are also WAY excited to see old friends TOGETHER and go to a spiritually uplifting event TOGETHER (that doesn't specifically pertain to youth ministry). That sort of combination is few and far between for us, and we can't wait! I think it will be one of my favorite birthday gifts of all time.
Believe it or not I am a little bit sad that we are leaving our 3 and a half year old daughter with grandparents for the sake of convenience… not because we have problems "leaving" her by any means, just because a part of me wishes that she could be in on the family joy of this occasion. But I think that Friday night will be a little past her bedtime:-) Although I'm sure she would have no problem rockin' out to TC and the team π haha.

I remember Beth telling a story in another bible study about that. I think it was John the Beloved Disciple,my first Beth Moore Bible study.I remember her talking about the flood and having to go back to Angela's and you were with her. Is that when Angela made pancakes for you all and your mom thought they were going to be like cardboard but they were delicious. There was a little guy in the story at the time I can't remember his name but he called your mom Beth Moore like that was her first name. JACK she called him Jack I just remembered. She told how she was teasing him something about how pancakes were gonna change his life…and he said how are pancakes gonna my life and she just kept telling him that. Then finally he said something like "now a banana will change your life" and after she had eaten and left the room he said Beth Moore makes me hungry. I can still hear her tell that story it made me laugh out loud then and it's makin me laugh now.

I will be there…bringing about 20 ladies from our church in Paragould, Arkansas…and yep! I was there in 2001…wouldn't miss it for the world…which it happens to be my daughters senior homecoming Oct 9, but she said, "mom, go ahead and go see Beth…I don't even like going to Homecoming." So..guess I'm going!! π
Charlotte, wouldn't it be great if you could get your extra ticket to Lindsay (6 comments above you) since she lives 2 blocks from where the event will be and doesn't have a ticket? π
Oh, I plan to be there with a group from my church here in Vicksburg, MS Was there the first time and think I have been to one a year since Jackson, MS. Praise the LORD and thank you, Beth, for instilling a hunger for our God and His Word in us over these years. God has blessed us sooooo… thru you! We love you and our Jesus!!!!
PS Has anyone ever told you that you look just like Jesus???

I am so excited that I am getting to come to this! We have 6 women coming from Eufaula AL.
