A Frivolous Friday

Happy Friday, Dear Siestas!

So, I need your help.  I just ran out of perfume and I am on the prowl for a fabulous new scent. Do you have a perfume you swear by?  I am a serious perfume junkie.
I started out stealing Amanda’s Love’s Baby Soft as a young child.  It was the first perfume I remember feeling pretty in.
Then in Middle School I moved on to things like Sun-Ripened Raspberry and Juniper Breeze from Bath & Body Works.  I honestly don’t know how the boys could stand to be around us because my friends and I would spray a fourth of a bottle of this stuff all over our bodies even during class change.
(It is totally annoying me that the Juniper Breeze picture is so much bigger than the Sun-Ripened Raspberry picture.  I’m getting serious OCD right now.  But, alas, I don’t have time to deal with it because it’s Friday! And P.S. I used these two scents about ten bottle designs ago. Every time they change the bottle design I feel a generation older.)
In High School I rebelliously snuck into the controversial Abercrombie & Fitch store against my parents wishes and bought Abercrombie 8.  The managers at that store feared their demise and often abandoned their cash registers when they saw my Mom’s big blond hair and corresponding Bible approaching so my best guess is that she had dropped me off at the Mall that particular day.  Since I am older and wiser, I will not at this point discuss how passionately I loved Abercrombie 8.
In college, I stopped going to Abercrombie & Fitch (a combination of sanctification and the fact that I could no longer fit into their teeny and tiny clothing) and started wearing Angel.  I still love this scent but I have since come to think that it is a bit frilly for me.  The great thing about Angel is that it lasts the entire day.  Miraculous.
This past Christmas I was given both Marc Jacobs and Lolita Lempicka and so I have gone back and forth between these two scents for the past seven months.  I love them both and they are totally different.  When I feel girly, I wear Lolita Lempicka and when I feel sophisticated, I wear Marc Jacobs.
Problem is that I am out of both of them.  I feel that my personality has been sucked right out of me.  Not to mention, everyone must think I stink.  I know, you’re asking, “How in the world did you manage to use both bottles in a short period of seven months?”  Please do not get hostile toward me, for I already admitted that I am a total junkie.  But I’m at peace with it.
Please help!
And, I almost forgot, have a fantastic Friday!
You are loved.

ok, most perfumes make me a little quesy. but I do find that good old fashion vanilla flavoring is the best. A little behind the ears and on the wrists and out the door I go.

You are extremely blessed that you can wear a scent. I have allergies and can't even wear smell-good lotion. Makes me sick as a dog, even though I love it. Really, a woman needs to be able to wear a scent to feel truly feminine. So, whatever you wear – ENJOY! (And spritz a little extra for me.)

    This was interesting!

I like "Day Dream" by BKE and "Bond Girl" by Avon.
Also "Very Sexy" lotion by Victorias Secret.

someone else said they like Sensi by Georgio Armani. that was discontinued where I used to get it. I like it and will go to fragrancenet.com to look for it.

have a blessed rest of the weekend!!

I'm coming in late in the game, but just had a fabulous weekend with my best friend who flew in from North Carolina! Yay for girl time!! We made pina colada cupcakes (added pureed pineapple chunks to some yellow cake batter and iced them with coconut oil infused buttercream frosting…YUUUM), saw a concert together, and went shopping for new dresses (of which we both made out with total bargains!!).

She and I both love wearing perfume, and her two favorites are Heavenly by Victoria's Secret and Happy by Clinique. I have a ton of perfumes, but the three I use the most are Miss Dior (fun and girly scent), Bath & Body Works' Green Clover & Aloe (fresh and light), and Curious by Britney Spears. You can smirk all you want, but I get compliments every time I wear it. Plus, I see it as a way to fund her two boys' college educations. HA!

Go by the dept. store and try Bucheron. It's been around for a long time but it's soooo wonderful. I won't try to describe it. Google it and see what they say. I love it!!

Perfume is such a personal choice. For me I love Hanna Morae. It is pricey for me and I do not always have it on hand, but I love it. It lasts and I found myself following my co-worker around the store where I used to work just to smell her perfume. That is what convinced me to get it in the first place.

OK- I am only commenting on Sunday and have not read through the comments yet, so I don't know if anyone recommended my new favorite perfume yet- in case not, it is Lancome's Magnifique- a beautiful scent with a pretty red bottle- and Anne Hathaway is the "model" in the dept. store pictures. I can't wait to see what everyone else wrote!

After 539 comments, I think you may have just found your new scent! Just in case, I offer up my two scents as of late, (my two new perfumes that is…. not my "two scents" but I guess either one applies here. ugh, just tell me to be quiet! Anyway!)

    Irresistible by Givenchy (sp?),
And Ed Hardy (no particular name, but I noticed they do have another that does have a name, I just don't know what it is. Plain ED Hardy is the one I'm talkin about here.).

For clarification, both were a gift, and I had to throw away the outer casing of the Ed Hardy (my issue w/skulls) anyway, tried many of the ones listed, and will spare you all that I love, and just mention that I have NEVER gotten as many compliments on my scent as when I wear either of these two fragrances.

I have kinda been a "stick in the mud" when it came to trying new fragrances. I liked what I liked and didn't bother looking for anything new. THEN….I smelled FLOWER BOMB by Victor & Rolf on a friend and I have been "hooked" ever since. I had to order it online, but now our Dillards carries it here in Mobile. It can also be found at Saks or Nordstrom. People stop me all the time and ask what I'm wearing! A man who was doing work at my house also asked me what it was and bought it for his wife for their anniversary! Try it!

I already commented on Friday, but have been thinking about it some more…I totally agree with everyone who suggested the Philosophy Amazing Grace perfume, Philosophy has a few different "grace" perfumes, all good. Also,I find that the young celebrity perfumes tend to be very good, like the Britney Spears perfume, and I also really like Mary Kate and Ashley NYC…and you can get it at Long's drugs.
If you want a unique scent, you can layer different scents. I like to wear this body lotion called Alba Cocoa Butter hand and body lotion. it's got a cabbage patch kid smell + chocolate, which sounds wierd, but is amazing. On top of it, I wear whatever other perfume or body spray I am feeling that day…could be Strawberries and Champagne from Victorias Secret, could be Chanel. It's good to mix and see what scents go well together, and well on your skin. I think that the chocolate undertone tends to go well with a number of perfumes. 😉

I love NUDE by Bill Blass… you can't find it at the store anymore, so I find it on ebay, and when I do find some, I buy it up! It's such a different fragrance, SO pretty! My little girl like for me to spray a little on her blankie when she goes to spend the night at her grandparents' house… so it smells like "mommy"!

Okay… So to be honest – I like Chanel No. 5 and Elige by Mary Kay. However, I used to wear this really exotic scent that I received as a gift (I loved it, but have since outgrown it…:)) Samsara. Very wonderful! Very. Other than that I am a fan of Dream Angel by Victoria's Secret.

Here's a question back to you. Since this family has become "economy-stressed", this girly-girl-girl is having to ADJUST! So, perfume is out but I'm hanging onto the make-up the dear Lord gave me insight to buy extra of last year! But the hair!!!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!!! The roots on this blonde hair are unforgivable and the length and pure scraggliness of it is desperate. So????? Any hair color products I can trust? I don't know which I'm more scared of–the roots or color dumped on my head that turns me orange!Perhaps a scholarship fund for hair?

Oops!!! Rereading my comment, I realized that I misspoke about the Dior fragrance (having overnight guests takes a lot out of you!!!). The one I wear is not "Miss Dior" but "Miss Cherie" 😉 😉 😉

ALSO!! You can think I'm nuts, but the last time I went fragrance shopping, I ended up buying a men's fragrance that I share with my hubby! Some of those men's fragrances are just so yum smelling, plus it reminds me of my hubby every time I smell it on myself 🙂

And to Anonymous asking about hair products: Three words – Bumble and Bumble. Their products are a little expensive, but luckily they also sell small sizes for cash-strapped gals who need some serious haircare. And the products smell delicious. I've been a fan for years!!! http://www.bumbleandbumble.com

I started wearing "Angel" in 2001 after several years of not wearing fragrance because of skin problems. When I first bought it, the sales ladies told me about the "fragrance cloud" as being an alternate way to incorporate it without spraying it directly onto my skin. This has worked beautifully for me.

Since then, I have tried other fragrances, but I just keep coming back to "Angel." A dear friend who now lives over four hours from me, started wearing it soon after I did and we both find it refreshing and enjoyable, and slightly different on each person, which I imagine many perfumes are. We feel it keeps us connected and somehow like there's an angel nearby watching over us.

I even spray good smells on my bed before I fall asleep. One day a girl passed me and smelled amazing, so I asked her what she had on and she told me Britney Spears Fantasy. I went right out and got some…who cares who makes it as long as it smells great!! People stop me all the time and ask me what I'm wearing. I also love Pure Seduction and Love Spell by Victoria's Secret. I love to mix Love Spell with B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar with a little spray of Happy Heart.
