A Frivolous Friday

Happy Friday, Dear Siestas!

So, I need your help.  I just ran out of perfume and I am on the prowl for a fabulous new scent. Do you have a perfume you swear by?  I am a serious perfume junkie.
I started out stealing Amanda’s Love’s Baby Soft as a young child.  It was the first perfume I remember feeling pretty in.
Then in Middle School I moved on to things like Sun-Ripened Raspberry and Juniper Breeze from Bath & Body Works.  I honestly don’t know how the boys could stand to be around us because my friends and I would spray a fourth of a bottle of this stuff all over our bodies even during class change.
(It is totally annoying me that the Juniper Breeze picture is so much bigger than the Sun-Ripened Raspberry picture.  I’m getting serious OCD right now.  But, alas, I don’t have time to deal with it because it’s Friday! And P.S. I used these two scents about ten bottle designs ago. Every time they change the bottle design I feel a generation older.)
In High School I rebelliously snuck into the controversial Abercrombie & Fitch store against my parents wishes and bought Abercrombie 8.  The managers at that store feared their demise and often abandoned their cash registers when they saw my Mom’s big blond hair and corresponding Bible approaching so my best guess is that she had dropped me off at the Mall that particular day.  Since I am older and wiser, I will not at this point discuss how passionately I loved Abercrombie 8.
In college, I stopped going to Abercrombie & Fitch (a combination of sanctification and the fact that I could no longer fit into their teeny and tiny clothing) and started wearing Angel.  I still love this scent but I have since come to think that it is a bit frilly for me.  The great thing about Angel is that it lasts the entire day.  Miraculous.
This past Christmas I was given both Marc Jacobs and Lolita Lempicka and so I have gone back and forth between these two scents for the past seven months.  I love them both and they are totally different.  When I feel girly, I wear Lolita Lempicka and when I feel sophisticated, I wear Marc Jacobs.
Problem is that I am out of both of them.  I feel that my personality has been sucked right out of me.  Not to mention, everyone must think I stink.  I know, you’re asking, “How in the world did you manage to use both bottles in a short period of seven months?”  Please do not get hostile toward me, for I already admitted that I am a total junkie.  But I’m at peace with it.
Please help!
And, I almost forgot, have a fantastic Friday!
You are loved.

I rarely wear perfumes, but my favorite is Burberry London. I heard that it was Princess Diana's favorite. It is definitely my favorite.

I'll echo all those who love Light Blue. I wandered into Hermes about a year ago and fell in love with a then brand-new fragrance that made the store smell so yummy I would have loved to buy it as a (VERY expensive) room fragrance.

You have given me a new goal in life…to finish using a bottle of perfume (in 7 months, no less!).

    Glory to God! 😉

OK, I just got back from the mall, smelling like several perfumes!! I'm glad they had coffee beans for me to smell in b/w fragrances!! I bought Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue -I love it and it doesn't change to some awful smell on me, which happens with lots of perfumes that I like. So thank you to all the siestas who recommended it. I've been looking for a new one for a while, not inexpensive but it will last me a long time.

I've been using Opium for 20 plus years, since college. Spicy, rich
scent, perfect for the long northeastern cold. In summer (short)! I like to use Happy by Clinique. I get them as gifts as my thrifty nature just can't shell out money for perfume.

Ahh, thanks for the trip down memory lane! In middle school, me and my friends also frequently doused ourselves in sun-ripened raspberry, as well as our other favorite, country apple.

I've been faithful to Estee Lauder Pleasures for years – love it! But my new favorite is an Arbonne fragrance called Chassis Black Orchid, oh man does it smell good!! 🙂

I have 3 perfumes switch between in variation of my mood, so I can completely understand going through 2 different perfumes! I tend to go for the more floral scents. I love the original Escada which is almost impossible to find now. I also use Estee Lauder's Beautiful. I wore this one at my wedding over 8 years ago and my hubby still remembers! When I want to feel more feminine I wear is Provactive Woman. That one I can't wear around my mother since she is allergic to some scents. Enjoy your perfume search.

I am a little busy currently working on my doctorate…oh and working full time. I have basically leaned on Beth, Jennifer, Priscilla, Kay, Mary, Ed Young, David Jeremiah and Charles Stanley for my bread.

I am not participating in memory verse memorization this year, but the verses Beth has highlighted have really been timely in my life. The tongue is the most recent and I have just recently had its temptation. I did not do as well as I wanted to do, but the Lord worked through me so I did better this time. I didn't say EVERYTHING I was thinking, which was a HUGE improvement for me. I have a tendency towards bluntness and desiring to get my point out. The Lord has shown me lately that it is better to win by shutting my mouth and leaving. This is terribly challenging for me desiring to have truth and justice win out. BUT I am trying to hold my tongue and say what is good to say.

Will we ever have this one down…..unfortunately, I don't think I ever will!!

    Melissa,
Loved your post!! It came at the perfect time, as I was wanting to find a new perfume too. I love Dolce & Gabana's Light Blue like several mentioned & I currently wear Daydream from the Buckle (very inexpensive), but I wanted something new. My old fav (Escada's the Collection), they quit making. You can find occasionally on the internet, but it's way pricey! My best friend & I had a girl day today running around. We had to go to Ulta, so we decided to smell all the perfumes listed in the blog post comments. And we smelled all the rest too. I ended up
purchasing J Lo's Sunkissed Glow. I loved it!! Smell it for sure!

Do any Siestas have recommendations for perfume alternatives? This sounds so weird I'm sure! But I've been either pregnant or breastfeeding my sweet young babies for going on 5 straight years now and gone are my days of wearing perfumes after a friend told me about their harmful ingredients…just REALLY wish I could find a natural alternative!! Thanks beautiful sweet-smelling women 🙂 *Used to wear Ralph Lauren Romance and Este Lauder Pleasures and long ago also loved Cool Water for Women!

Amarige by Givency. Not popular but wonderful. I like having a perfume that is unique. When by husband smells it on me it reminds him only of me. If he happens to smell is somewhere else…it reminds him of me. I love that!

Sun-Ripened Raspberry is the best scent! The older bottle design was cooler. It is refreshing to hear that you like the scent too! All my friends went crazy for Cucumber Melon. And I wish I could make a good suggestion for perfume, but as a nurse, I can't wear any. 🙁

    Northern Lights says:

I used to love perfume, but sadly, I developed asthma and severe fragrance allergies as an adult. The more expensive the perfume the worse the reaction. Instead of perfume, I now spend a lot of money each month on asthma medication. One of the most treacherous places for me to go is church – it seems church ladies love their perfume. For those of us with allergies, may I respectfully suggest moderation – both for my health and yours. It is possible to induce fragrance allergies through years of exposure. You wouldn't want to end up in my shoes!

    Greetings Mrs. Melissa!:)

I wish I could help, Mrs. Melissa, but my perfume is usually a combo of my deo, my hair care supplies, and my body wash. Tis true. Sorry! This post does make me think though, what scent would I want to wear? That made me smile about your middle school days, 'cause it was like that in my middle school too! It was like, "Whoa, love her heart, she likes warm vanilla!"

Love in HIM,((HUGS)), Blessings to you:)
