A Frivolous Friday

Happy Friday, Dear Siestas!

So, I need your help.  I just ran out of perfume and I am on the prowl for a fabulous new scent. Do you have a perfume you swear by?  I am a serious perfume junkie.
I started out stealing Amanda’s Love’s Baby Soft as a young child.  It was the first perfume I remember feeling pretty in.
Then in Middle School I moved on to things like Sun-Ripened Raspberry and Juniper Breeze from Bath & Body Works.  I honestly don’t know how the boys could stand to be around us because my friends and I would spray a fourth of a bottle of this stuff all over our bodies even during class change.
(It is totally annoying me that the Juniper Breeze picture is so much bigger than the Sun-Ripened Raspberry picture.  I’m getting serious OCD right now.  But, alas, I don’t have time to deal with it because it’s Friday! And P.S. I used these two scents about ten bottle designs ago. Every time they change the bottle design I feel a generation older.)
In High School I rebelliously snuck into the controversial Abercrombie & Fitch store against my parents wishes and bought Abercrombie 8.  The managers at that store feared their demise and often abandoned their cash registers when they saw my Mom’s big blond hair and corresponding Bible approaching so my best guess is that she had dropped me off at the Mall that particular day.  Since I am older and wiser, I will not at this point discuss how passionately I loved Abercrombie 8.
In college, I stopped going to Abercrombie & Fitch (a combination of sanctification and the fact that I could no longer fit into their teeny and tiny clothing) and started wearing Angel.  I still love this scent but I have since come to think that it is a bit frilly for me.  The great thing about Angel is that it lasts the entire day.  Miraculous.
This past Christmas I was given both Marc Jacobs and Lolita Lempicka and so I have gone back and forth between these two scents for the past seven months.  I love them both and they are totally different.  When I feel girly, I wear Lolita Lempicka and when I feel sophisticated, I wear Marc Jacobs.
Problem is that I am out of both of them.  I feel that my personality has been sucked right out of me.  Not to mention, everyone must think I stink.  I know, you’re asking, “How in the world did you manage to use both bottles in a short period of seven months?”  Please do not get hostile toward me, for I already admitted that I am a total junkie.  But I’m at peace with it.
Please help!
And, I almost forgot, have a fantastic Friday!
You are loved.

I luv, luv, luv perfume, too. You would absolutely luv Philophy's "Amazing Grace" for everyday and Philophy's "Falling in Love" for when you're wanting to feel a little more girly, girly. I just like knowing I'm covered in Amazing Grace everyday and I get so many compliments, too!
Hope this helps. Have a blessed weekend!

P.S. You can find it on QVC for a much lower price.

I used to love perfume, too. Its not allowed in the convent (for simplicity's sake and…40 nuns with 40 different perfumes would make us all crazy)

BUT I still love Liz Caliborne and Paloma Picasso. I don't even know if they make them any more. But I love 'em!

I absolutely love Amazing Grace by Philosophy. It's clean yet feminine and I get lots of compliments. It's pretty much my signiture fragrance.

Recently though I received a sample of Philosophy's Inner Grace. Loved it too so I had to get some. I use it as my special occasion fragrance.

Chance by Chanel beautiful! I feel pretty wearing it!

Light Blue by Dolce and Gabanna I chased a lady down to ask her what hse was wearing (I know…a lady from the south should never aslk another what she's wearing but it is so clean and pretty…not too sweet)

    And I loved Love's Baby Soft too…

    LOVE THIS.

I actually have had friends say that I am their favorite scent!

(You know those crazy email q&a's you get that ask about all of your 'favorites'? Well, I have a girlfriend that says I AM HER FAVORITE SCENT. LOL! L. O. L.)

Just this week, I had one of the beautiful young ladies from our youth group text me from the local fair… to tell me she passed someone that smelled like me!! She told me she loves when I hug her… cause she will smell like me. HA! She too said she loves my 'smell'. If that doesn't make you self-conscious, I don't know what will.

So, all of that said, it is either the powder fresh Secret deodorant OR the Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.

    That perfume is amazing.
I have read many of the posts and agree with those that describe Coco M.
On those days that my hair is less than fab and I focus more on my flab, I can spray Coco M. on and feel oh so good.

I hope you are someone's favorite smell!!! =)

I don't know if you want a 463rd suggestion but just in case, here is mine. Jadore by Christan Dior or Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel or Chance by Chanel. These are my top three.
Oh, and if you buy and use the lotions you can layers and still get your junkie fix without going through your purfume as quicly.

Melissa – I laughed out loud several times with this post! Thank you for the Friday frivolity and total affirmation of girliness 🙂 Here are a couple of sites that will help – you put in what you like and it gives you suggestions or it asks several questions and then tells you which perfume matches:

My favorites are (remember I'm 58 yrs old): Touch of Pink-Lacoste, Design, and Karmala from Avon.

I too can be perfume junkie but I can't afford them anymore. Good perfume is now a luxury for me. They ususally go on my Christmas wish list that I pass on to my kids.

My husband and I love Euphoria by Calvin Klein.

Love the Lolita bottle! So cute! I've never heard of Angel but it sounds great.

Okay – for me, I've had to stick with cheaper perfume for the most part because man, can they get spendy! I don't like floral scents – I like a fresh scent.

I've loved "Navy" for years. And also Jean Nate. It has a slight lemon scent to it. For expensive – I do like Obsession and try to make my bottle last.

Now though – I'm thinking I need to branch out after your post. 🙂

HA HA…funny post!! I prefer lotions to perfumes, so….but I'm completely intrigued by Beth, the big hair and the Bible parading onto the "controversial" store- what did she say? I'm asking because I need some guidance to work up the nerve to deal with our local Victoria's Secret, as my boys are now nearing The Age and my hands don't cover up their eyes like they used to. What to do…

    Hi Melissa 🙂
I was in Bath & Body and I found this awesome new perfume this summer. It is so fresh with a light musk scent. You have to try it!!
    Here it is:
Lemon No 1999 Eau De Parfum, It is part of the C.O. Bigelow line.
Try it and let me know what you think. I get compliments on it all the time.
Another one of my favorites that I just can't seem to break free of is L'eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake. This one is perfect for the summer, very light and refreshing. It is an oldie but definite goodie. I always get compliments on this one also.
My Fall and Winter fragrance is Romance by Ralph Lauren it smells so pretty.
    Happy Hunting 🙂

Happy by clinique..it has a light fruity/floral scent that gets me lots of compliments.
Babette is delish~! It is warmer scent, cleaner and kinda sassy, which I really like.
I also love Eternity, a timeless scent in my opinion and Dune by Dior is a yummy, warm scent that I get the most compliments on.
What a fun post! Although it is tempting me to go out and try some of these amazing sounding scents.

Such fun you have provided for us this weekend! Thank you Melissa!

Just got back from touching up with some new highlights and found this perfect blog entry!

I read where the adorable Taylor Swift said she would not feel the need to still be blond when she was sixty. I am thinking, 'Honey we will see" (assuming some of us live that long… ha!.) Not that I am sixty…yet…but I'm just sayin'.

Like Tara G. I also became very, very sensitive to perfumes during my pregnancies (30 and 27 years ago!!! Yikes!!!) and still am.
However, I can wear Trish MeEvoy #9(mentioned a few times) which is Blackberry/Vanilla Musk. Also love D & G Light Blue on others, and Fracas on a good friend but sadly doesn't smell the same on me. Darn!

Does anyone else see the irony of Abercrombie's bad image and yet so many are using Victoria Secret scents?!? I find Heidi Klum to be gorgeous, charming and adorable and yet she parades around pretty naked. However, she LAUGHS at herself so who can dislike that? Difficult sometimes to be of the world but not in the world.

Have a scent-sational time finding your new favorite perfume!

    Love you all right back!
P.S. For those siestas that get migraines and have allergies I have been told that Chanel perfumes (I used to loved #5 but now find it strong) and other "greats" are made of real ingredients not the chemicals that the newer perfumes tend to be made from that often trigger headaches.

This past weekend, my husband bought me Alabaster, by Banana Republic. I can't describe it as girly, sophisticated, or whatever, I just know it smells really, really good. And the bottle is gorgeous.

Perfume hunting is so much fun! Until you get into the car wearing 10 different smells…in July…in Mississippi…and then it's a horrible way to spend a hot afternoon.

    Good luck!

I can't wear perfume because it gives me migraines.. but I have found a wonderful perfume oil that doesn't make me sick..

It is Monoi Tahitian Vanilla Body Oil.. and it is divine. You can only get it on Amazon.com, and it isn't too sweet, and not vanilla musky at all. It smells like vanilla in the sun. 🙂 Yum! 🙂

What fun. I was such a tomboy when growing up I didn't get into colognes and perfumes until college. I just want to smell better than my son's. I work in the nursery at church and the mom's will say they knew who held their baby because they smelled just like me.

I will have to try some of these sents. My sister in law usually provides a years worth at Christmas.
