Thank you, Beth and Sabrina. I’m appreciating your friendship in the Word so much! You were truly called to ‘such a time as this’!

Umm, this doesn’t have to do with the memory verse but its a burning question of mine since Father’s Day when I found out I was pregnant. I’m going to have a girl and well, I want to give her the gift of utter passion for the word that God has given me. If you girls ever feel so inclined to post about it, I would love to know any advice or wisdoms to instill this love of scripture and openness for discussing it with me precious girl.

so I could not actually watch the tutorial due to internet issues here in nepal. But I could see the RENEW part adn I have to tell that this scripture memory challenge has been awesome for me. I am learning Romans 8 right now.. and right now in Nepal we have 16 hours a day of power outage. We have only 4 hours of the day when we have power to use, the other four is in the middle of the night. I foudn myself wanting to get really frustrated. It’s easy to let your mind wonder in the cold and the dark.. which it is both here. But now I am working to use some of these hours when there is nothing else to do becuase it’s to dark without power or light of any kind.. to just meditate over and over on the scripture I am learning. Really helps the outlook! Also I am not an adventure seeker, but daily drive a motorcycle to get around in nepal. Let me tell you the craziness of driving here amongst cows in the road, chickens, ducks, whole villages crossing with out looking and no lanes, red lights or rules– i MUST think on my scripture or I don’t have the best thoughts!!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! Beth and LPM staff – you’re such a blessing to SOOOOOOOOO many of us.
Joke for the day siestas – my 21-year old daughter was spraying her hair and for some reason Beth and her big hair comments came to mind and she told me that Beth should come up with a line of hair products and the hair spray could be called “Spray without ceasing!” I loved it and hope y’all do too.

Thank you for taking the time to get this on the blog site so quickly. I appreciate, especially, the exhortation to use God’s Word against the enemy and not each other. Having our first child move to college this year has pushed me into panic mode feeling like I wasn’t “finished” raising her yet!
It can be tempting to heap (or throw!) Scripture on her to be sure she makes good decisions but she knows these things already. It will be far more productive on my part to pray for her and entrust her to the God who loves her even more than we do.
Also, its good to know I’ve done one thing right, Beth. I chose a Scripture I NEEDED (from acrostic).
Philippians 2:5 “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”

This is totally unrelated to the post, but I thought you would enjoy it anyway. Today when I was teaching phonics to my 6 year old daughters one of the words was Beth. Joy read the word and Grace responded by saying Moore!

Also, in case you need a boost this Monday morning, my older girls both thought Beth was in her 30s!

LOVED this (I actually got to see it the first time you posted it… maybe it was a miracle!!). My favorite part is “N”, since you encouraged me to pick a scripture I NEED, I have been clinging to it like glue. Now, why didn’t I think of that??? Love you, Siesta Momma!

Ok, I’ve been reading this blog for a while and finally trying my hand at this. I LOVE the tutorial about memorizing Scripture ‘cuz this is a weak spot for me. So we pick our own verse(s)that’s right for us at the moment or is there an assigned verse to learn? Thanks to BETH and her staff for all she does. Blessings, Kathy

    Beth,

Thank you for taking time to do this for us. I know it’s the 12th and I’m just now getting the opportunity to finish watching, but I am excited to put this into practice. I have a TERRIBLE time with scripture memory work and I really think this will be so benefical to me. Thanks also to Sabrina for fighting Satan for 3 days to get this to us.

    You are such a blessing!!!

Thank you so much Beth. That was wonderful! Our pastor did a sermon last night on meditating on Scripture and this will help so much. Would you consider doing one on prayer also? I know you did this because we are focused on memorizing Scripture but it was so informative, I think a similar segment on prayer would be wonderful! I have a four year old son and I was having trouble teaching him to pray and I realized it’s because I do not really know how. Thank you!

Thanks Beth, Sabrina and Amanda… Everyone who put this very helpful and useful mini-lesson together for our memory verses.

The one I selected already resides in my heart. I can hardly believe it. I am in such a difficult season right now, for the last couple of weeks it seems that a painful reality would come to light and pierce my heart… Immediately I wanted to deny the reality and refuse to accept it, but then I would remember: “Lord, who may dwell in your tabernacle? Who may abide on your holy hill? He who walks uprightly, works righteousness and tells the truth in his heart.” Psalm 15:1-2…

This year God gave me the word Truth for 2009. “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32…

So… as these painful realities came to bear, I would remind myself I can deal with the truth, I’ve asked God to shine the light on these things and I must accept (tell the truth in my heart) what has happened and then I must apply God’s Word to it… The Truth Shall Make Me Free!

Thanks so much Beth. Is it okay that I memorized two in the first 15 days… I cannot wait to share the promise verse I will begin memorizing on the 15th! Blessings.

A prayer request goes out for our Bible study leader, Pat Ash in Petersburg, WV.

The Esther Bible study is starting this Thursday and the enemy is none to happy about it. The ladies that have walked into her home have been transformed through the Holy Spirit, taking what we learn back out into the world.

We are standing in prayer with scriptures of healing, crying to our God for mercy to withdrawl the pain that she’s suffering that it may not come from the enemy but to bring our faith back in miracles to those who are weak in Spirit.

We’re in need of prayer strength now. I’m asking my sisters to join us for our friend who loves our Lord in intercession.

    Hi Beth,

I thank the Lord Jesus for your ministry and how it has helped bolster my walk with Him. I want to encourage you to continue to teach the deeper things of God to His people. It has meant so much to me, my family and my ladies group at Riverside Baptist Church in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada!

I had just committed to the Lord to memorize more scripture and there you were with your blog! I know many verses but cannot remember the references most times. So, this year I’ve asked the Lord to help me put the 2 together. Thanks so much for your helpful tips. Right now I’m memorizing Lam. 3:22 – 24 and Is. 33:6. It’s fun!

Again, I praise God for you and your team.

This is so great! Thank you! For me, you point the things that should be are totally obvious to me but aren’t and make them seem so simple and easy. I have told you more than once I think you are the best!

I balked at the thought of finding my own verses to memorize as I thought you would give them to us, but I have a list started! God is providing!

    Beth–
Thank you so much for this whole tutorial. It was just what I needed today. I especially appreciate your advice to us not to wield the Sword against people. I think as a mom of a teenager I needed that wisdom today. It is easy to use it inappropriately and the last thing I want to do is alienate my teenager using Scripture. Thank you faithful servant!

I wanted to get in here and say my own thanks to Beth and Sabrina and everyone else involved. This was wonderful!! It really helped me. I had to share the part about “Wield It” with my pastor husband. I thought that was soooo good! You are so right that we do not need to ever use the wonderful Word as a weapon to tear down but only to build up–and fight the enemy of course!

I mainly hear my own husband’s sermons-and they are really good–but it means a lot to be able to hear a good word from someone that you don’t live with, you know? I know you don’t consider yourself a “preacher” but you really delivered a good one that time!! 🙂

    Dear Beth and LPM Team,

Thank you so much for producing and posting this video. Thank you Sabrina for all of your laboring over this thing. Thank you Beth and team for the RENEW ideas.

The video(s) have been a tremendous help to me in learning to memorize scripture. In fact, this is the first time that I have been able to successfully memorize a bible verse. You guys made it so easy and fun!

Thank you for sticking with it and working on all of the bugs! I am sure you offered up many a prayer while working on this – and I am so grateful to see the finished product.

    Thanks again,

    Sandy M. says:

Thank you Beth! You and all the readers may think this is goofy but with my type A personality (somewhat!) I had to take the cover of my spiral index and cover that ugliness with scrapbooking paper and cute stickers and the year printed in big letters and then for each verse, I have put the date at the top and a seasonal sticker on the page. Jan. 1 is a couple of snowmen, the new one is a big snowflake. I think those pictures will help jog my memory too. Plus it’s just so cute…..sorry, I digress from the memorizing part.

    Mrs. Beth –

You are just the cutest thing ever. I crack up at – no – with you all the time.

I wanted to share with you and my siestas something that the Lord put on my heart about this scripture memory.

My desire is always to leave a legacy for my children. I have been mulling over the last year or so how precious my grandparents’ bibles are to all of us since their passing over the last few years. So, I bought a bible specifically for scripture memory where I can date, makes notes about, write prayers about, etc each scripture that I memorize. I even did a post about it on my blog today. My prayer is that the efforts that I am making to engrain His Word into my moment by moment thinking will be a lasting legacy and I wanted to have a written record of it, for me, and for my children.

So, thank you for challenging us and giving me this nudge that has inspired me to take it even one step further.

    With much love,
    Donna

How cool is GOD??? I knew I wanted to start memorizing scripture – saw a book resource & thought Lord – I just do better listening or watching someone teaching me this. WOW – no more excuses – here is my resource – your encouragement & video on RENEW (which is my first verse – renew your mind)is EXACTLY what I needed! I'm so excited to learn more about my Father & I thank you so much for being such a REAL, WELL BALANCED teacher! I have to tell you I'm at a point where I'm questioning what I believe & why I believe it – not my salvation – lots of doctrinal issues – predestination (thank you SO Much for your cd on that), baptism, Lord's Supper, ….. and you are someone I continue to come back to – I just think – I wonder what Beth thinks about this? question about joining this memory team..i am currently teaching a group of 7th–12th grade girls Bible Study at our local Christain school…we are studying Lies Young Women Believe. I would like to present this challenge to them to join, as i think it would be so beneficial to them with this study, but at this point i am afraid if i have them try to make up the one for the first of the month along with a second and when we meet next week it will be that much closer to a third verse…they might be discouraged. can they join and maybe be two short by the end of the year? I would love to even be able to post the verses for any of them that would not be able to….believe it or not but HIGH SPEED internet is not readily availabe in our area!!! i would also like to share your memory tips with them…..would that be allowed?? thanks!! i am from Bridgeville DE but the school is in Greenwood DE

I LOVE the informal video (although, hmmm, I think an easel is not exactly informal either). More vlog entries would be fantastic. Or would Sabrina faint away with that thought?! Besides the God-given fabulousness of our servant-teacher’s gifts in women’s ministry, imagine a video of Bibby Bethmoore playing with Jackson. Or just commentary while drinking coffee and people-watching in an airport? View of a conference from the perspective of the teacher to the crowd?

I’ve decided something in wielding my sword with this scripture memorization. Since I’m called to be salt and light, I’m going to wield a light saber. And I like the idea of the sound of it in action!
