You have no idea how much I needed this….not only the memorization tips but the reminder not to use our sword against people. With young adult children who are finding their own way, I do this sometimes and I should not. Spiritual pride…yikes. God is so good I could just cry! I did not sign up but my husband and I are both memorizing 2 scriptures/month along with you.

That acrostic is awesome! It’s going to help me so much! I put it in my cards with my scriptures so that I can refer back to it over and over again.

    Thank you Beth and Sabrina.

    love you!

Hey! Thanks to your helpful tips I got it! I am doing Isaiah 33:6 and I couldn’t even get the hang of memorizing the reference! Using the tricks and asking the Lord to make me smarter than I am (; ), I realized Isa 3 + 3 = 6 (33:6 get it?), and then all the sentences started with “He”, you get the picture. Once I got the tricks, it didnt take me long to memorize the scripture! How exciting is that? By the way, I NEED IT. I needed it before my husband got laid off yesterday. Pray for us. We trust God. He is good-all the time…

I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to remember the “address” of the verse. I find that I often forget that part of the memory verse and then when you want to share it, or look it up for someone to see… thank God for concordances!

As others have mentioned, I too need all the help I can get. God bless this wonderful idea!!!

I’ll add my thanks to you and those who helped put this video out. I’ve found my first verse relatively easy to memorize, but I have been wondering how I’ll keep hold of several verses as the months go on. Your lessons here give me some tools to use to help me meet this goal. Thank you!!

I wanted to tell the Siestas that there is an AWESOME online resource called e-Sword that is completely FREE and it allows you to drill yourself on your memory verses every day.

Beth, thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial. I had chosen Eph. 4:29 in the amplified version to memorize and was having such a difficult time that I decided to memorize it in the NIV instead. I knew I really needed the Amplified though and after seeing your tutorial last night, I took the tips and got the amplified version almost memorized just today! I’m so excited and so glad I didn’t wimp out! Thanks to you, Beth, and all of your staff that makes all of this possible. You are all a huge blessing.

That weilding part was speaking directly to me. I only wish I had a more clear sense of WHEN I’m weilding AT someone (ie. when it is appropriate to rebuke, and if not rebuking, then what? Speaking mainly to raising children here). Thank you for your teaching, Beth. I’m at a loss for words when I hear God speaking through you, and I’m very grateful.

I have to tell y’all, I got the cutest little index cards. They are spiral bound, but on the side, not the top and they have a little half cover and an elastic band to keep the cover in place. too cute. Found it at the dollar store

Beth, Sabrina, and ALL the LPM Staff,
Thank you so much for this labor of love. You may have called it rough, but it ministered to my heart and mind. I’ve now read all of the posted comments, and the same is true of everyone who posted.
My question is this: Does anyone else find that SATAN IS ATTACKING?!? At least four times I’ve laid down my spiral index cards at a specific site in the house and when I’ve gone back to that site, they were GONE! No explanation other than the enemy. So, I’ve taken to taping up the written scripture on doors and mirrors. I dare the enemy to take down that tape!
I love the idea of a Southern Translation of the Bible from another Siesta.

Thank you so much Sabrina and Beth! I recently have had doors to open to witness to some complete strangers and having some scripture memorized when you don”t have your Bible is very helpful! Also, my husband is teaching a witnessing class where the students have to memorize the Roman road. If it is o.k, I may teach them some of your tips. This is such a great idea! I really need a renewing of my mind in this new year!

    Much love!
Praying all goes well with your doctor this week. I have an appointment with my gastro doctor this week too. Hoping the Crohns will go into remission. I am praying a scripture for healing.

Thank you so much for all your helpful hints Beth. But most of all I had a totally aahaa moment when you explained about using scripture against the evil one and not against one another. I know my husband and I have done this to each other and with our children. It makes total sense, we think we are helping them by throwing scripture at them but we don’t receive it that way at the time.
    God Bless, Brenda

Beth – It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the blog and today is the first day reading about the scripture memory plan. I think it is a great idea for everyone. I will not officially be joining the group of 3000+ but unofficially my NOGS and I are in. Our NOG group (6 beautiful women) became a special group after this summer’s Bible study. We started our scripture memory commitment in Oct and most of us have been doing great. I, however, have struggled in Dec and Jan to stay focused. I saw today’s tutorials as a loving prod from God to refocus and get back in the game. God turned your mini -tutorial into a “burning bush” for me. I love how He does that!

Blessings to everyone – Marla in Atlanta GA

    Tara says:

    Beth,

One other question: How do you remember the address for each verse you memorize? My bible study girls and I were talking about the importance of hiding God’s Word in your heart and letting His word resound in your head… And we were discussing how we find it easier to remember the verse itself than where it’s found and end up saying something like, “And somewhere in the Bible it says…” But we don’t want to do that anymore! So, what secrets do you have for memorizing the address of the verses you memorize?

Thanks for any help you can give! I’ve been remembering your acrostic all week for RENEW!
    Love,
    Tara

like the visual help for memorizing.

this memorizing of scripture is becoming additive. every time I see or read a verse I write it down in my memory cards and say I want to memorize that verse. If I keep it up soon I’ll have the entire bible on my cards. LOL I keep saying this is GOOD this is Good. this is probably one of the best addictions I’ve ever had next to chocolate.

Thanks Beth for all the helpful hints. I have caught myself reading through scripture and jotting down verses as potential candidates for my next memory verse. There are so many to choose from I don’t know what to choose next. What a wonderful problem to have and what a blessing it’s been to bathe in the word of God with all my sisters in Christ.

May the Lord greatly bless you for heading up this challenge for 2009.
