A United House

To my beloved Sisters who I esteem so highly and consistently find to be part of the solution to our problems in the Church rather than the cause,

Please join me in praying for our President-elect Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, and his precious daughters, Sasha and Malia. Go with me before the Throne of our sovereign God and ask Him to grant wisdom from above to President-elect Obama and the indwelling presence and power of Jesus Christ. In the words of the Apostle Paul, “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior…”

Please also join me in the active and deliberate pursuit of unity and purity in the Body of Christ at this historical time in our country. I implore you in Jesus’ Name to have zero tolerance for prejudice whether it is regarding party-affiliation, color (whether you are Black, White, or Brown), economics or the like. Disagreement is not sin. Prejudice is. Satan has plotted events and planted attitudes that, should he be successful, will result in havoc. We must not stand for his schemes or cooperate in a single way. We would severely displease God and invite untold chastisement upon Christ’s Church in our nation. Speak clearly to your children and graciously but emphatically draw a line in your work places and social circles regarding your stand against prejudice of any kind.

“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, ‘Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.'” (Matthew 12:25) A united house stands. A divided house falls. The devil has much to gain. But he also has much to lose.

We are the Body of Jesus Christ and we have an opportunity to show His character. This is our watch. We stand for what is right not from our feet but from our knees.

I humble myself before you and make these pleas under such bold direction of God that I could not resist it nor disobey it. He made it a fire in my bones.

I love and esteem you so much. Shoulder to shoulder, Dear Siestas. Let’s leave not one inch for the enemy to come between us.

“Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve Him shoulder to shoulder.” Zephaniah 3:9

Although many of us may not agree with the outcome of the election, we as Christians must continue to pray for faithful leadership of our country. Thank you for your words in inspiration! I only wish I had your gift to help people understand. I have shared your LPM Blog with friends to say what I can not. God Bless

Agreed and praying. I woke up with fear in my heart this morning but was reminded that Fear does not come from God but from not believing Him. But God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I choose to believe God at His Word, If God be for us, who can be against us, and I will pray for our new president.

Me again…had to pass on good news to my sisters out there…in the state of California (pretty liberal state!), proposition 8 has passed as defining marriage as an institution between one man and one woman! Praise the Lord!

Thank you, Beth. This is such a good word! I have seen so many of my Christian friends post disparaging comments already about our new president and it makes me sad.

No matter what side of the fence we stand on, it’s time to come together. 🙂

Thank you for your words of wisdom that can only come from our Heavenly Father above! I am sad and I have been fearful but I know truth…and fear does not come from God…I will choose this day to trust in God…to believe that He is still on His throne…to know that He is not wringing His hands in disbelief but is the great I AM! All praise to Him and may we be His witnesses…His faithful servants…following His truths. I also have prayed for our president elect, for wisdom beyond this world!!!

thank you , Beth, for clearly stating what in my heart I am feeling this morning. I wonder if we had all prayed more for President Bush, his presidency would not have been so attacked! My husband and I talked this morning about how we must move on, knowing we are “anchored” to the One who controls all things! Thank you for your encouragement to us all!

I awoke this morning with the verse “…Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s and unto God the things which be God’s.” Luke 20:25 on my heart. The title belongs to the president-elect, but the Kingdom belongs to God. Thank you for your encouragement to me. I ask for prayer as I moment by moment roll my burden of fear onto the Sovereign Lord. Deidra

Amen, Beth. You echoed the cry of my heart this morning.

My daughter is 4, and I was explaining the process to her as simply as I could yesterday. She was very excited about going with Mama to “float” for the president! But while explaining to her who the president was, I told her that he was the man in charge of all the states. Her immediate response was “But God is really in charge, right?”

    Amen, baby. Yes, He is.

In the words of the Apostle Paul, “Jesus Christ came to save sinners” — and I’m the worst of them. I have been the guiltiest of offenders in this arena in the past: sharing “cute” or “funny” emails or jokes, justifying it to myself and feeling like it’s okay since it was private and my audience wasn’t personally offended. The Lord really called me on the carpet for that a few months ago. Even though I wasn’t directly affronting anyone, it’s still SIN. It isn’t funny, ever. It isn’t okay, ever. Keeping that kind of thing going only perpetuates the problem. So my challenge to us all is this: Let’s not just keep prejudice from our lips. Let’s remove it from our hearts!!! I want to come up higher. Join me in my personal repentence and let’s all “Step UP”! Thank you, Beth, for all you’ve taught me and all you’ve done. Camille Warren, Texarkana, Texas

Yesterday, after I came home from voting, I found this verse,

“A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.” (Jer. 17:12)

I’ve encountered several people today who are dejected by the results of the election and I’ve passed this verse on. Regardless of party affiliation, as believers, we are never powerless. Our place of refuge is the seat of eternal power.

Thank you, Beth. I will try to pass on your message as well.

Exactly my thoughts as I gathered my older sons in prayer last night after midnight. We surrendered our tears to God and asked him to seed our hearts with the truth of who He Is…King Jesus…on the throne–no matter what.

    gracetrophy says:

My dear kindred (in MANY ways)sister Beth, amen and amen in Christ Jesus. My heart was stirred to intense intercession this morning for our President elect Obama…and his wife!! I am thankful for what God showed me in the Spirit and how He released my fears and brought perfect peace as I intentionally made my mind stedfast on Him. This is what He showed/spoke to me. “Indeed I am no respector of persons and as My child and representative on earth…I dare you not be either.” I admit my immaturity and sin, that I stood prejudice not of his race but of what I think his relationship is with Christ. Lord have mercy on me and forgive me!!! Thank you Beth for what you wrote becuase it confirmed what Daddy had been showing me about myself…something I did not even know existed. I stand amazed by His grace, in such need of His mercy, and humbled by His call…specifically His call to pray for our new President. I see one of the major places we have missed the mark in America – our besetting sin if you will – is that we degrade God’s creation in other human beings. O how that must break the Father’s heart! Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit Paul tells us that God has chosen the world’s insignificant and despised things – the things viewed as nothing – so HE might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something, so that no one can boast in His presence. I am in no way suggesting President-elect Obama as insignificant but rather saying he represents a people who America has said in times past were insignificant by way of slavery. Not to be disrespectful, but when I think of slavery I cannot help to think of myself as well. So…I’ve come to see President elect Obama represents me too. Once I was held captive to satan but in Christ Jesus I have been given freedom. I am praying for a revelation of Christ so that He be lifted up and draw ALL men to Himself. One last thing, I’ve noticed so much humility today on every show covering the election … hmmmmm…God IS in control!
Beth, I thank God for who you are in Christ!

    Retta says:

    And again … “Amen!”

God is sovereignly, mightily, and emphatically in control! All praises to Him everlastingly!

As 2 Peter 3:9 states, “the Lord is not slow about His promise as some count slowness, but is patient…not wishing any to parish…”

And also Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”

Thank you for saying what I believe is the truth about these things. When things turn into slander, malicious talk, prejudice, anger, etc. I do not see how this is glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe this should make Christians of all races, etc, pray more. We have not been “prayed up” as a body for years, it’s time. Jesus is calling on us to love, and love well. Terrific post!
