I No Like Ike

Hi everyone! The LPM blog is going to be on hiatus for a few days while the Moore-Jones clan attempts to travel to the ranch for the weekend. I say “attempts” because I am so nervous about the traffic! My parents were already planning on going and we have decided to join them in view of Hurricane Ike heading this way. FYI, LPM and all our staff are located a safe distance from the coast, but the danger for those of us on this side of town, assuming it hits close to Houston, will be high winds. I think most people are riding it out. Everyone on the Texas coast appreciates your prayers. We love you girls and we’ll be back soon!
Love,
Amanda

PS – Bible study went great! We are really excited about our group. Thanks for praying on Tuesday!

Having the Moores and Joneses in Houston, I feel like I have family there! I have thought of you each time they’ve shown Ike on the tv. We will keep praying for peace and safety for your family, the LPM staff as well as everyone else in path of this storm. As powerful as Ike appears to be, our God is more powerful! May He be with you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I live at the beach in South Carolina, and vividly remember weathering Hurricane Hugo with a 4-month old baby (now a college sophomore!) Do evacuate, as we were required to do. We lost our business in that storm, and many friends lost their homes. All can be rebuilt – take the fam photos and your sweet babies and go have fun with your parents! Xoxo

Stay safe! I may be crazy, but I am actually heading to Texas today. I won’t get any further south than Dallas, but my travel home on the weekend could be interesting with all the rain and wind that will inch northward after Ike hits. Praying all will stay safe!

Praying for your safety and for everyone in the line of Ike. I saw on the internet this morning a photo of a statue in Corpus Christi Bay, of Jesus with His arms outstretched “calming the storm”. (don’t know if this link will work, but if not maybe you can copy and paste it into your browser to see the photo)

In Bible study this morning we has a special time of prayer for protection for all in the path of Ike and especially for the LPM family. I pray for peace and protection. Beth, once I heard you say in “Living Beyond Yourself” I’ve got to have peace. Now is a good time to hold on the the truth that it is there. Reach out and claim that . We will be praying for your traveling from your home and then a safe journey back on the congested highways.

    We are praying for you!

In regards to traffic, plan for the worst, expect the best. Having spent the last 13 years in South Florida ( we are now back in Texas), I can tell you the worst part of evacuating is the stress. When I just relaxed, took my time, and knew that I had plenty of food and water for however long it took us to get there, I was much better. I sometimes have the ability to make things much worse than they actually are. I have decided it a “momma” thing, I was never that way before I was a mom. So it is true, the majority of the battle is won in the mind. I will be praying that God gives you peace!

Being that I lived in San Antone for four years as a child, and that the majority of the ministries that minister to me outside of church are there I no like Ike messing (with anyone) with Texas either. May God place a protectivehedge around all who are in the path of this storm. I am also praying he weakens it as Hhe so graciously did for us here in Virginia with Tropical Storm Hannah. Stay warm and cozy,
