I’ll Be The One That Looks Like Your Siesta Mama

Hey, Girlfriends! My suitcase is packed (if I can keep two rambunctious puppies from unpacking it) and I’ll be up early in the morning heading to Louisville, Kentucky with my Bible and my hairspray. I’ve been blown away by how many of you have said you were attending the event via simulcast this weekend. (A few of you asked if it will be the same material that I will teach in San Antonio and the answer is no. Two completely different things.) I will think of you so often as I teach this weekend and you can always rest assured you are teacher’s pets. (I bet it wouldn’t surprise you to know how much I tried to be the teacher’s pet growing up. I would have annoyed the heck out of some of you. I just flat love the classroom.) There are 714 churches participating in the simulcast so I don’t have to tell you how much I, the LifeWay team, Trav and the praise team and every site and participant needs the covering of prayer. The list of requests is too long and too technical. Only God is big enough to pull this off this weekend. Pray Him all over us. Pray for wonders. Pray for the Jesus Show.

If AJ were writing this entry, she’d put the link to the simulcast locations in case a few of you still wanted to hop aboard but, alas, I don’t know how. But I do know that LifeWay is putting it on if that helps. Grin. BTW, Amanda and Jackson and Little Fig made it to Tulsa today on a Southwest airplane without either one having a meltdown or grabbing a barf-bag. Curtis has to stay and teach a camp after they visit his parents so he had to drive his car and meet them there. All met up as planned but I’m sure they are exhausted. Curt has the neatest parents. They built their own home on a beautiful little stretch of hill country and even have their own horse. That’s Heaven on Earth to my girl. They will have a blast.

Back to the simulcast (sorry, I have a little A.D.D. tonight), I’ll sure be looking for some of you this weekend and, if you’re looking for me, I’ll be the one that looks like your Siesta Mama. Now, stay in the Word, young ladies.

Love you like crazy.

OK, the dogs just ran off with something from my suitcase. Blast. It better not be my coffee. What if it’s my root lifter?? Gotta go!

    Loved the whole weekend!

Could you post the words you had us share at the end with one another? I’d love to have a printed copy.

Also, what was the name of the last song Travis sang on Sat. afternoon? what cd is it on? There was another one he sang about the “mercy seat” that I’d like to know the name and where to find it. TIA

    Beth,
Thank you so much for allowing the Lord to lead you with your teachings. I had been unable to participate in any Bible studies this past year and going to the simulcast this weekend felt like I had come home to rest. How amazing is it that we could feel God’s presence so clearly with us where we were in each place. He is so awesome! And please tell Travis that the music team is such a blessing as well. They are so very worshipful and I am so very grateful. I also loved the fact that the lyrics with the songs only capitalized words that referred to God. That “i” was lowercase. Such a beautiful reminder of what is really important. Of course, my friend said that only an English teacher would have caught that. ๐Ÿ™‚
I am beyond thrilled that you will be in Charlotte next summer. I cannot wait to see you in person. Much, much love!!

I am blessed! It didn’t work out for me to go this time to the simulcast(disappointed).I decided about 5:00 to go outside to do yard work.I finished mowing and was ready to tackle the weeds…when I heard His voice(not audible) saying “that’s enough for today…simulcast will be starting in a couple of hours.I want you in prayer”. I am not proud to say I had a little attitude at that point…I thought He knows that I have been in prayer in this regard. I continued with yard work…big mistake…a few minutes later my new weedeater just stopped working…I was stubborn by that point…headed to get my hoe to work in my flower bed…again I heard His voice asking me, “Do you really want to go there”? At which point I humbley said “no, I don’t”…I put up my yard equipment… took a quick shower and went to praying. It was probably one of the sweetest times that I had in prayer. And yes,the next day that weedeater cranked right up!

We became competently competent this weekend with you! I can’t even put in words the answer to prayer it was. My Mom declined to come with me to see you speak in Cincinnati in 2003. Back then she told me she wasn’t ready to do it yet but to ask her again. I did and 5 years later she and my sister-in law were with me this weekend in Louisville. A direct answer to prayer!! God is SOOOO GOOD! He spoke VOLUMES to them both (and me!) through you. Thank you for being faithful to God’s call on your life. So many have been blessed by your faithfulness to Him.

I AM SO BLESSED to have been apart of the simulcast this last weekend. Beth I really felt like God just pulled my chair up to his throne and spoke the 100 fold word to me. I have been struggling about study and I mean some heavy studying of His word. So I will continue to Treasure the wonder,Protect my Heart and #1 for me is Press forth or persevere. I am so excited that you will be in Springfield Illinois in 2009. I have a God story for you about the simulcast church I attended. Cherry Hill Baptist church in Springfield IL had given us ladies a small gift to take home. Keep in mind that they did not know your subject for the weekend but they gave us a card with Luke 8:25 printed on it and a small little bag with a seed attached. They were amazed that even though they did not know what you were to speak on but they knew with out a doubt God did. He deserves All the Glory. PTL

Beth and LPM staff and Lifeway staff and Travis and the praise team and anyone else!:

Thank you so very much for the simulcast. Wow. I feel like words are totally insufficient to explain my gratitude.

I just finished a small (17 women) summer study and I know what that took. So I can only imagine how you might feel right now.

I am wrestling thru the next step to take in ministry and attended with FULL expectation of hearing from God. I heard. And I’m still listening. And willing to obey.

I was really blessed by what you shared so personally about your family. I am raising a strong-willed daughter who sounds quite a bit like your precious Melissa. You and Keith and Melissa have been inspirational to me on those really tough days. I am begging the Lord to grab hold of our sweetie early—she could be mighty for His glory.

One last thing–this precious 3 year old child gave us a great malaprop on the way to church this morning. My husband and I were in stitches. She asked us for some Chap Stick b/c her lips were “chatty”. : ) What a true statement!

Praying for refreshment for you. Thanks for pouring yourself out for us Beth. What a blessing.

    prayers,
    Beth in Ohio

The teaching you gave at the simulcast was a tremendous blessing to all who attended our site in Visalia, CA.

As a faithful blog reader and occasional participant, I surely do wish I could go to San Antonio for the Siestaville Get-2-gether but I had to put my $$ into the simulcast ticket AND Deeper Still in Las Vegas, NV in September.

I can imagine it was a lot of work for the ladies who organized the Siesta Get-2-gether but I do hope it happens again in some fashion. Maybe a West coast site one year, East coast the next and then back to the Mid-west?

Thank you, Beth, for all the time and effort and spiritual sweat and tears you put into your lesson preparation. It has caused so much growth in faith and knowledge these past years. Many thanks and great appreciation to the Living Proof team and Lifeway team and all other support personnel who made the simulcast available and happen. May God richly bless all of you all in your use of your gifts and talents for His honor and glory and kingdom work.

    Beht-
Loved seeing you in Louisville this weekend. I brought my 17 year old daughter with me. We were blessed beyond measure. Even more than I enjoyed seeing you, I really enjoyed seeing the Holy presense of the living God this weekend. What a precious pleasure to worship with 70,000 of my closest friends. Imagine the multiplication of that when we are in heaven. I could just see the angels in the heavenlies standing and smiling and singing along with us as we poured our hearts out to our heavely father. Thank you Beth (and team) for bringing a little piece of heaven to Louisville this weekend.

You also ministered in some very specific ways to my daughter. It is not my testimony to tell, but I can thank you just the same! Thank you for the work, the hours, the prayers, the sweat, and the tears.

    So Siesta Mama Beth,
You sure blessed our socks off up here in Anchorage Alaska! We made sure you could hear us when you told us to say “God Breathed” and boy oh boy DID HE!!! He blew His Breath all over that place and our hearts and lives were changed forever! Thank you God! Point number 7 really spoke to my heart about Press Forth to our 100 Fold Harvest. You said to Press Forth, to Persevere, HANG IN THERE…that we have to persevere to do it or we will never see it come to fruition. Well, dear sister, that was a word that went deep into my heart. Our Father has promised me some pretty cool stuff, and I just need to keep pressing in and pressing forth! Thank you for reminding me to hold on, and keep going! I absolutely LOVED the benediction at the end when we got to hold someone’s hands and look into her eyes and speak that truth over her. The one I got to say that to is very, very dear to my heart, and we were crying before you even started praying! LOL…
I am going to just praise his name for allowing us to be a part of this simulcast and getting to see you. I felt your hands on my cheeks, telling me Jesus loves me!
THANK YOU…and I pray that the Lord just FILLS YOU back up to overflowing today and tomorrow, as you go about your daily life. Fill her up dear Lord, let her feet be washed in the water of Your Word, and let her heart be tenderly touched by You in a way only her and You know about!
One more thing…just so you know…Your hair looked marvelous, your outfits were adorable, and I LOVED the heels on Sat. So I would say you were batting 100%!
I love ya more than my luggage!
    God Bless YOU,
Thanks for letting Him work through you!

    Dear Beth,

I’ll have to admit that I am one of the ones who felt disappointed at first about the scripture God had given you for us in Louisville, as I have been studying that passage recently. Well, as it turns out, it was just exactly what I needed to hear… I should have known… *Grin*

I was one of the Siestas there in Louisville, and when you said “Hello” to all the bog siestas, I clapped and cheered, and gave you a huge “WOO HOO” and most of the women around me looked at me LIKE I WAS STINKIN CRAZY!!!!

I’m so thankful for your faithfulness to do what He has called you to do. My life has been touched and changed immeasurably by Him through you.

    Looking forward to San Antonio!

I received me a WORD that is NOT UP FOR GRABS!

First of all, I brought a young woman that I am mentoring with me to Wichita, KS (220 miles Friday and 220 miles back home on Saturday). At the Saturday morning break, we were sharing what we had gleaned so far, and I told her that I felt like the Lord was using my past as a DRINK OFFERING and that I was to be pouring out for HIM.

Came in from the break and you asked us all to turn to Phillipians 2:17. I had NO idea what that scripture said, and when I turned to read it, the air left my body. Sarah looked at me and I mouthed to her, GOD IS AWESOME AND HE SO LOVES TO WOO ME!

    Thank YOU BETH!

100 FOLD HARVEST!!!! Loved it Siesta Mama! Just loved it. I hosted at my home church in Walnut Creek, CA and was amazed that God brought in 110 women. (I would have been down right thankful to have sold my first 50 tickets but God is SO GOOD and gave us 60 more!!)

It was a blessing to be touched by the Word, serve the women in my church and get in a few belly laughs to boot. The best part, though? Getting the voice mail from my mother-in-law when she drove home after Friday’s meeting . . . she was in tears she was so grateful to have attended. First time she’d every heard Siesta Mama give us the Word!

I must "delurk" to say that Louisville was AWESOME! My dear friend and I got a mom's weekend away and were overcome by what God spoke to each of us.

Experiencing the sounds of 8,000 women turning their bible pages & singing songs of praise and worship was so powerful.

Your message was just so amazing! My friend and I (after getting the okay from our amazing husbands) booked our hotel a 2nd night to be with God and process all He was speaking to us. What a gift!

Travis and his team were just awesome.

We were so excited that our NOG study gals got to join via simulcast!

But, I didn't realize you had a second puppy! Congratulations!!! Jelly is just adorable and she and Star are perfect together.

Thank you! You are just as awesome in person as I knew you would be…. You are an amazing example of what living out this life with Jesus looks like! Looking forward to chatting over coffee one day in heaven.

I was at the 100 Fold Harvest conference this weekend and it was completely AMAZING! I just wanted to let you know one thing my mother and I both got out of the conference the first moment we saw you come out onto the stage in the big orange coat. We both felt like we knew you, wanted to really know you, be a part of your family, have you take us home with you, and eat dinner together. I know a total stalker reaction, but at the very moment that feeling popped into my head God spoke to me and translated that feeling to His very self. It was like He said. Amanda, that is how you really feel about Me not Beth. I was so thankful for that. Not that I wouldn’t love to actually meet you Beth, but I know that we will be friends in heaven and sing praise songs with matching banners.

Went to the simululcast in Chandler, AZ this weekend, and was so spoken too! God has me out of my comfort zone in so many areas – new adventure of home-schooling my 3 busy boys this year, adjusting to new church home, feeling very alone and God spoke to me so personally through your messages about how He is with me every step of the way and how much He loves me and wants victory in every area. I think He has me in a “alone” situation in so many areas so I will lean closer on Him. His love is becoming more real to me and it’s so sweet. I awoke with a horrible migraine today, but still have the praise on my lips from the incredible worship this weekend. Worshipping Him in my pain! once desperate too says:

I have no idea if "desperate" (8/2/8 @5:15) will read this but I have to tell you, girl- I've been there! I was so alone & misinformed about life. I felt utterly hopeless and lost beyond words. There were no more words in my vocabulary. I was done, spent. What a lie from the enemy!

When I got informed, I realized there are some things in life we aren't wired to understand. We aren't born with the capacity to absorb the pain life throws at us. Some take hits the size of golf balls, others face wrecking balls, but they all hurt and cause great damage that requires professional attention. I'm so glad you've reached out. If I hadn't, I wouldn't be typing this right now. I had to learn- for the first time in my life- how to let go of the pain I had absorbed & internalized to the point I felt like the Goodyear blimp with a gaping hole in my head that was spinning me around & around in a freefall until all I knew was dizzy-city.

And, then came the Word of God. I had at last found the Truth. It set me free! Although I still struggle with painful memories at times, I know God is always holding on to me. I may let go of Him when I'm weak but He's always holding on to me. He'll hold on to you too, dear sister. Let Him!!!

You are not alone- Please read 1 Corinthians 10:13 and know God loves you with a measureless unfailing love, and in some way beyond my simple reasoning to comprehend, so do I- very, very much. My empathic, humble prayers are with you.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU once again for a totally rocking awesome experience. I was able to watch the simulcast on August 1 and 2nd and once again God (through you) has rocked my world. I have to say that you are the angel in my world of distruction and confusion. Back in 2002 I was introduced to you by my beloved mother. I was caring for my terminally ill child from 2002 to 2004 and you and of course GOD carried me through this horrific event. Through a close friend of my families, bless her, she taped each and every lesson from ladies bible study that they did through those years. Even my son watched them with me each morning before he watched cartoons, he asked to watch you then cause he said he could remember better in the morning, and didn’t want to miss anything that you had to say about what GOD could do for him. Bless him, he passed on in October of 2004, but I know he is still talking about that awesomely crazy blonde headed lady that touched his and his mommy’s hearts. Thank you again Beth for you, I love you and I am so thankful that you have stepped up to the plate of GOD and are pitching his word in so many peoples lives. Keep the Faith and Rock on sista!

We arrived at Southeastern about 10 minutes before the doors opened and b/c of health issues were allowed to go inside. We got great seats just before the main doors opened and the stampede began! My friend had never been before and she was blown away. She is going through a really tough time and the Lord met her there in a mighty way. I have no doubt that He was in the entire thing. Beth, you are such a blessing. His Word, His timing, His girls, Travis leading worship, and Beth teaching…what more could I ask for?!!! I love you dearly Sista Beth!

I attended you simulcast at First Baptist Dallas. Every time I go to one of your simulcasts (or live studies) there is one thing in particular that gets me every time! The thought of 70,000+ women all across the world singing praises to Jesus! Nothing is sweeter than the song of the redeemed!

I’ll say I have to agree with you also about the sound of the pages of our bibles turning. I can’t hear it now without thinking of the sound of angle wings.

    Beth,
I was blessed and honored to be able to see you in person this past weekend in Louisville. I live in Puryear, TN and am about 4 hrs south of Louisville. I attend The Puryear United Methodist Church. We have been doing some of your bible studies. I think you and the Praise Team are awesome.

Beth, When you told the story that you used to call the Heimlich Maneuver the “Heineken Remover” I knew I had to share this joke with you…

There were a bunch of hicks in a restaurant, when all of a sudden a woman started choking on a chicken bone. A man quickly ran over to her, pulled up her skirt and licked her on the behind. As he did this, the chicken bone shot out of her mouth. A man who was watching all of this happen spoke up and said, “I’ve always heard of that there “Hind-Lick Maneuver”, but I’ve never seen it work before!” He He ๐Ÿ™‚

    Beth,
WOW! WOW! WOW! What a weekend. What a restoration have we recieved from God. And boy have I needed it. Even the strongest of us need times of revival when life just takes us down.
I promise to Tresure the wonder, Protect my heart, Expect the test, Dig the roots, Stop the choke, Retain the word, and Press forth to my 100-Fold harvest! What an opportunity God has given us to live in Him every day. Girlfriends, we gotta STEP UP and go get it!

I wanted to respond to Desparate. I have been where you are! My testimony is also similiar to Beth’s. I have been suicidal and even attempted to take my own life. Praise the Lord for Godly counseling!

Stay in the Word precious siesta! Even if you can’t really study, just find a verse and say it or read it every time that suicidal feeling comes! Cry out to the Lord! Even if you can’t think of anything to pray, just say as Beth did, “Jesus You love me this I know. For the Bible tells me so!.”

I am praying for you! Remember you can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens you! When no one else is there to listen, He ALWAYS is ready to meet with you!

    Much love!

I attended a leaders meeting today and some of who were at the simulcast yesterday were talking about it. All the women who didn’t attend perked up and were getting excited too. Well we all agreed to take a church wide women’s road trip to Stockton, CA in 2009 when Beth comes to California live again. Beth, you are so real, humble and the cutest thing! And yes, your red jacket was looking so good on you Saturday.

I went out and bought more raw hide bones .( Thank you Lord for those) I’ve had my kids socks chewed up and she even put a hole in my good school shirt. I pray you had an awesome weekend. Just got back into town from Orlando Flordia so catching up on the blog looks like I missed alot . I loved the picture of Melissa and Colin.

Hey!! What a wonderful weekend! Mrs. Beth I hope you have a wheelbarrel to haul all your crowns straight to the feet of Jesus, cause your gonna need one! We hosted the simulcast at our church and had 155 women with 36 churches represented, can I get a whoop whoop! This was our first simulcast experience and we had a ball. Thank you for your willingness to serve. Here is a malopropism for you, when we had to look into each other’s eyes and repeat after you at the end, when it got to the part about being competently competent I mistakenly said “competently continent” …let’s hope that is true as well…haha.

    Thanks again,

    Calista
