Would love to hear some ideas about what the other ladies are doing in their women’s ministries and young/single ministries at their churches or what they would like to see being done. Need some fresh ideas there.

For our Siesta Sandee who mentioned that she was going through a dry spell — you want to know what the Lord is teaching me about my “dry spells?” He is showing me that the dry spells are opportunity for the faith and trust I keeping asking Him for to be lived out in my life! How am I going to have strong faith or trust in Him if I don’t have to have faith or trust in my immediate circumstances. Anyway, hope that encourages you.

And Amanda, how about talking about all that the Lord is teaching you through this new season in your life? Where is He asking you to trust Him?

Much Love and blessings to you all,

Your Siesta, Gretchen, in Thousand Oaks, CA

As much as a lively, expository discussion on Obadiah would be, and as shallow as this may sound…here’s what I suggest:

Since it is the 10th year of LPL, does your Mom have any funny stories, embarrassing moments from the stage, especially heartwarming moments, etc., from the events that especially stand out in her mind?

    Blessings,

    Manda,

The surveys are great ways for all of the siestas to either post anonymously or not what they may be struggling with and need prayer for without fear of being judged or condemned.

Not that the Siesta’s do that, but it seems to bring out people who just read the blog and never post.

It could help us pray more effectively.

    All the ideas are great!

Jackson is growing too fast. He looks like he’s in preschool in that picture!

Love and prayers to you guys,

How about asking all of the Siestas if they have any memorable or favorite “momisms” since it is Mother’s Day coming up soon. You know, things like: “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” or “Pretty is as pretty does”. It would be fun to hear from the gals about their moms.

You and Curtis (now that he’s on staff) could tag team a post and tell the story of how you met….I don’t think this blog was up and running when you two tied the knot. It would be fun to see a few of your favorite wedding photos!!

I love the stories of how people met…what he thought, how she did or didn’t like him at first…its so fun to hear!!

    Amanda,
Love seeing pics of Jackson. I have two boys – 3 and 1. I especially love capturing those angelic moments on camera when mine are sleeping. The women of our church are so excited about the simulcast Beth is doing from Louisville. We are all counting down the days.

    Cindy says:

Everyone could share one or two things they pray for in regards to their relationship with the Lord. For instance, my dear hubby preached last Sunday that we should pray and ask God for a hunger for His Word.

I’ve never had a father so I frequently pray that God will help me know what it feels like to be His little girl. This helps me see Him as my father not just my God.

Pictures of the Jackson are great!! I have to say he looks like a little man in that playpen with his arm behind his head and legs falling open! What a cutie! My kids loved the playpen and slept in it forever.

How about lessons God teaches us us through our kiddos?

This picture of Jackson reminds me of: Prov 3:24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

What are some good parenting and marriage books or studys out there?

    Cute quotes from our kids?

Mother’s Day is coming up – you could blog about what your mother means to you and what it means to you to be a mother!

You are a great blogger, Amanda!!

    URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Please pray for a young lady who is twenty-one years old. Her whole world changed just a few short weeks ago when she announced in Sunday School she got engaged the evening before. They set the wedding for July 19, 2008.

She scheduled her first gynecology appointment with her doctor for last Tuesday. She was planning on starting “the pill”. Upon the initial exam, the practioner felt a cyst. Immediately an ultrasound was ordered. This past Friday she met with a gynecologist and found out she does have two cysts: one on each overy. One measures 17 cm x 11 cm and the other is 11 cm x 9 cm. I hope I have the measurements correct. The doctor scheduled surgery for today (Tuesday) at noon.

Yesterday, the doctor contacted this precious Christian young lady to explain he had thought about her all weekend because some of her blood work was elevated. He canceled today’s surgery. Instead, she had to go to the hospital for more blood work today and is seeing an oncologist gynecologist tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.

Her whole world has truly been turned upside down. Please pray for a miracle in this sweethearts’ life. I know God hears our prayers. She knows too. Thank you for lifting her up to the Lord.

I just enjoy hearing from all of you at LPM! Your stories are heart warming and funny and then serious when they need to be. I hope you’re all settling in your new homes-both work and family home. You’ll have “new home” stories before you know it.

BTW, have you found your Aggie Ring? I’m still praying!

I like “r’s” suggestion of “who would you invite to a dinner party”. I asked that at one of our CBS luncheons and got some wonderful answers. That led to a discussion of the book “Dinner with a Perfect Stranger”.

    Just a few..

    How is Sunny?

How is Bethie doing on Esther and updating Breaking Free?

What’s up for summer vacations? (or, what are those!!)

What is the Lord showing we siestas in our individual study times?

What good fiction books in the Christian secotr do the siestas enjoy and —- why?

    More wedding stories?????

    A few wedding pics?

    Love to all the siestas!

You could tell us funny stories about your mother, father and sister from childhood. Or tell us about your new home.

Actually, I could use some advice from you and my fellow Siestas, as well. Over a year ago, I bought tickets to the LPL event taking place in Louisville Aug 1&2. Well, I am now pregnant with my first child. He is expected to arrive June 26th. So he would be about 4 weeks old at the time of the event if he comes when expected. Should I take him with me (I live in Indy about 2hours away), get tickets to the local simulcast or just forget the whole thing? I would love to go and take him with me. I could really use a conference right now, but I’m not sure I can do it with the little guy. What do you think? Thanks.

    Evangelism Chick says:

    Hey, Amanda.

Thanks for the sweet photo of Jackson. My son, Devin, is 2 ½ and so I feel like we’re running parallel lives. We started potty training this week. Yikes!

My blog suggestion for your prayerful consideration is to address The Church of Oprah…the cult that is swaying millions across the globe to believe in anything, but Jesus. See the below You Tube clip to learn more.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=JW4LLwkgmqA

I’m so very disturbed…Oprah is saying she is Christian and pointing people to false teaching. So much deception. Christians not rooted in their faith are being swayed….the lost are drinking the Kool-Aid, so to speak…oh, how the scriptures predicted this would happen. (See 2 Thess 2 for starters)

Please join me in fervent prayer that someone influential in Oprah’s life, who is a devoted and mature Christian STEP UP…and point out the truth to her! (Dr. Phil? Maya Angelo? Someone in her family? – PLEASE HELP!)

Let’s pray that the evil influences attacking Oprah would be resisted and she would have ears and heart open to receiving the truth.

Let’s pray that she would realize her deadly errors and she would repent. Since we’re going for miracles…let’s pray she also publicly apologize and point people to Jesus.

Would love to know from a much more public Christian perspective if the church is addressing this issue? Is Beth in discussion with other Christian, public figures to do something?

As a women’s ministry leader, a portion of my prayer petition email was the following…
    ===============================
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground.” (Ephesians 6:13)

    Pray HARD.

    Tell everyone about Jesus.

P.S. Got your breastplate, belt, feet, shield, helmet, sword, communication system ready? If not, no worries…load up on Ephesians 6:14-18

Helpful Reminder—–Be at peace——GOD ALREADY WON THE WAR!!! Praise you, LORD!!

    ===============================

Thank you Amanda for your devotion to the blog. Any insight on this cultural influence from Oprah is greatly appreciated.

    Until ALL Have Heard,

    Susan

And, we’ve seen the outside of the new LPM home, but what about a tour on the inside? It looks so beautiful and I can only imagine how it looks on the inside… Please do share!

I too have been wondering how the move for you has been, you are going home but you are missing the friends you made there…

Love the pic of the baby sleeping, but here’s a couple questions. (Coming from a single gal): can you describe the peace and satisfaction and affirmation of knowing your husband is the one God ordained for you? (i.e., I’m assuming he was worth the wait!?) ; p

Then, which biblical character would you most like to meet and why?

Next, in ministry to women, have you ever felt like there was no way you could relate to their pain because you hadn’t come from an abusive home environment/bad “past”, etc? Sometimes I struggle with that.

    Thanks!

Love and hugs from the Big D!!!

i just wanted to say how nice it is to read ‘Ya’ll’. Way out here in Idaho you don’t hear that much. My husband is TDY in Alabama and when I call they put you on hold and play a local radio station. I AM LOVING HEARING THAT SOUTHERN DRAWL WHILE I AM ON HOLD!!!! I think God is giving me a big list of small things to be thankful for lately, like simply hearing (or reading) ‘Ya’ll’. Maybe missing the southern sound is another reason I am craving me a Beth Moore study next semester at our Bible Study here on base. Shoot, I might even facilitate one to get my Spiritual and Southern fix all at the same time! God Bless all of YA’LL!!!

Sleeping children are so incomparably adorable! As a parent I can honestly say that there have been days when I have thought that my children were definetly cuter when they were sleeping than when they were awake. I hope that God might feel the same way about his children, about me. When we are awake we can be so rebelious, tiring, disobedient(not all the time of course)but when we sleep he can look down and adore us. And his mercies are new every morning! Thank you Jesus!

Amanda; I too love to see all the pictures you all post. And would love to see more. Most of the ideas I could think of are already posted.

I do have one or two other ideas. I am in a transition of sorts. My older children are at the age where they are going off to college. The oldest is 18, next is my 17yr old. I do have two more at home as well, 16 and 10. Well, I am not sure how much I should keep my mouth shut and how much to say. I am struggling with still being the mom but not wanting to be what they call a helicopter parent. (I am not at the empty nest stage, but changes are certainly in the very near future.) For that matter anything concerning parenting older teens that are almost adults would be great.

What about house cleaning ideas or organizing ideas. Just a thought.
