Y’all, I’m having serious blogger’s block. Someone help a sister out with a some good ideas. Otherwise I’m going to resort to posting random pictures of Jackson sleeping.

I know you touched on this once before, but I sure could use a blog on balancing motherhood and finding time for bible study/prayer right about now! I have the hardest time carving out some “me” time to really sit down and study and hear from God. Any tips???(From a tired mom of 3 year old twins………….)

my favorite are God stories. like the one about Beth brushing the man’s hair in the airport. i’d love to hear about times when God moved and breathed so fresh upon you that you could do nothing but applaud.

hmm, come to think of it, beth applauds all the time…okay…the times that demand a standing O.

I know about bloggers block – I have suggesters block…you know, where you want to have something really cool to say so that the other Siestas will say “Ahh, that is a good idea!” Then I could gain noteriety as a an awesome suggestion giver and bloggers from around the world will write to me for suggestions on what THEY should blog about and when I’m being interviewed about my suggestion giving skills I can give the glory to God and LPM for giving me my start. That would be cool, but I can’t think of anything right now…sorry. Maybe tomorrow…

Ok, so I think we would all love to hear stories and see pictures of your wedding. Everyone had the bug after Melissa’s excitement and since you didn’t have all of us in blog-land to ooh and aah over you when you got married…..here’s your chance!

I like your blogger surveys. How about getting the siestas ideas for quiet times? How do you keep your routine or are you better with variety and how do accomplish consistency?

Oh, and do tell us about your new house! Maybe a survey on what the siestas do (decor wise) to be a witness to visitors!

    You are adorable, Amanda!

This has nothing to do with blogging topics.(although you could post about the new house?)

    This picture made me smile.

We have 2 girls, 9 and 7. We love our nephews, but they live out of town and we just aren’t around them much. Our 4 year old nephew has been here for several days and left a few hours ago. Can I just say….

God bless you moms of little boys. I am exhausted! I love this little man dearly, but my goodness. He never stopped moving! I looked at my husband last night and just said “Wow”

He said, “I told you to read “Wild at Heart” again before they came!!!

Love the pic! I understand writer’s block! How’s your transition going for you and your family? How’s the move going for LPL? Is Curtis fitting in with all the Siestas? (I just know he is!) Do you have summer plans? What’s in store for the next Bible study? Mindless chatter?? ๐Ÿ™‚

One idea pops to mind: our small group is just finishing up reading through and discussing “Justice in the Burbs: Being the Hands of Jesus Wherever You Live” by Will and Lisa Samson. I bet many of us siestas do live in the suburbs… maybe y’all have some cool ideas of what you’ve done to reach out in your community? The focus is on self-less living, having true servant hearts, and being willing to get ‘dirty’ and out of our comfort zones.

BTW, Amanda, we’ve missed you on here! I’m sure you’ve been awful busy setting up your new home, etc. Transitions can be tough – even when they seem mostly positive. I remember my little brother used to cry when my mom got a new haircut! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Soooo…what’s the word Amanda?:)

Oh something that I don’t think has been mentioned, some ladies made a blog about the siesta fiesta, so they can get together and meet up…that would be a good thing to mention:)

Ooooh, I know! You could post pictures of Melissa’s wedding – or at least her visit!
OR, tell us how your mom’s dinner came out (we know you got at LEAST a phone call on that one!!).
OR, tell us about your new home (photos are good!) and how you are adjusting to a new/old life. Making or renewing friendships – I am sure you miss your old Irving friends like CRAZY!!!
Tell us fun family stories or office stories.
Something sweet Curtis has done lately. Something sweet Jackson has done lately.
How is your new grocery store working out for ya?
When is Esther gonna be ready?

… or, ya know, pictures of Jackson sleeping are ALWAYS welcome!

How sweet! He is getting to be such a big boy! I have had this idea in my head a few days. Since it is nearing vacation time I thought it would be neat if we all shared about the cities or towns we live in. Our favorite places to go, eat, shop etc… maybe take a few photos around our cities/town show everyone. A way for us to “travel” w/out the expense.

Or another fun survey.. I loved the music one from a while back & the skinny-cow inspired guilty pleasures.. hmmm

I guess I’m not a whole lot of help, but I did enjoy the pic of Jackson. Aren’t toddlers in pjs just the best???

    Amanda,

I don’t know how many of my entries you have read up to this point. But I think you have probably guessed, I am far too pensive right out of the shoot.

That was especially evident with your mom’s last entry. I laughed, but I wrestled with taking it seriously as well. I so wish I could just get over myself! ๐Ÿ™‚

As I read your entry, the thing that came to my mind was, “no pressure”. This blog thing is organic, spontaneous, and on your site, Spirit lead. Trusting that helps me not make this blog an idol in my life. Having direct connections to women who love Jesus with a passion from all over the world distracted me initially.

I don’t know if any of this makes sense. I don’t know if I really am so far off the deep end, I make lunacy seem plausible in my own mind. Something I just put before you with an immense check of humility and trust that if I am way off we can all laugh together.

Blessings as you continue to serve so beautifully. Your Jackson is precious!!!

How about a commentary on your all time favorite Christian fiction book – why you love it so much and what it’s taught you. I’d also like to hear your (and Beth’s)thoughts on the emergent church movement. I AM NOT TRYING TO STIR UP CONTROVERSY. I’d just like to know what they believe and practice. I’ve done some searching and what I’ve found is really vague. And the one-on-one contact I’ve had in my own hometown left me wondering if they were representative of the emerging church at large.

Well we know that cooking is not Beth’s passion, but she frequently talks about her flowers and the flower gardens. Do you and Melissa also share her passion? How does Beth find time to tend the flowers?

    Let’s see..
Here’s a few ideas just to get you started:
*Interior walk-thru of the new LPM digs
*Some bio’s on the LPM staff, plus pics!
*How does one literally go about “putting on the armor”? I actually know this, but a prayer with scripture would be great!
*For those of us who have done Believing God, what have you asked God to sanctify? How did it go?
*How can all of us “siestas” get matching t-shirts? I have to know just who I’m talking to when I see them, otherwise, I might go hug some perfect strangers neck and scare them to death!
*How did your mother instill a love of scripture in you? I have three girls-we have our verses-I just want to be deliberate!
*What are some recent “God-stops” that you have had?
    *What’s your favorite flower? Why?
*How do you all work together and still be family? Do you all go to the same church too? I just wondered if you all got along that well all the time- cause I’m really impressed with anyone who can work for their mother-in-law and still be okay with that!
*How do you manage to not talk “business” every time you get together? Just wondered-

Okay, that’s enough to probably way more than you wanted, but…
    you did ask!
    I love you friend!

I like Sandee’s idea about polling on the next Bible study!… along those lines… how about:

The Siestas Bible Study [insert a much wittier title here!!], penned by our very own Amanda Jones?

I would venture to say it could be based on passages from Proverbs (let’s forego Lamentations hehe), with a snippet or two of either a) personal wisdom from a siesta, or b) a truly unique experience that attests the veracity of a certain passage of Proverbs. This, sprinkled with laughter, an equal dose tears of reflection, all topped off by the utter joy to be Sisters in Christ! So, whaddayathink?? eh? eh?….. erm… uh… OK, Maria Cristina, time for bed… I don’t think I’m making much sense here! but there you have it!

I love you Amanda and I love each and every one of you Siestas!

    Amanda,

Jackson is getting so tall. I can’t believe you get him to sleep in his pack-n-play still. My son (will be three in June) hasn’t been in his since he was just a little over a year. He absolutely was NOT going to let me put him in it…he is very headstrong…must be from his daddy’s side (couldn’t be from my side, ha ha).

Looks like you have had some great ideas. I bet you are brain storming….
