Prayer SOS for one of our Best LPM Buddies

Hey, Siestas! I am so grateful for your kindness. This is from an email I got from Trav and Angela last night:

“Thanks so much for the call to prayer you gave. Ang and I were overwhelmed as we read all of the sweet prayers and messages. Too much! What an amazing community. I am proud to be a MIESTA. Their prayers are already working…”

Then a text this morning: “Hey! On the plane right now. Thanks to the prayers of sweet siestas…I am much better! Worst of it pretty much gone. Just feeling a little run down. Thanks for sending the SOS!”

Let me tell you how much impact you had through the power of Christ, Girls. The man I talked to yesterday – even last night via text – was in no shape to get on a plane this morning. But he did. God be praised! Never underestimate the power of prayer!! When you band together to believe God, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. God LOVES the faith and unity so much.

Original request:
Siestas, I wonder if you’d quickly jump on the prayer train with me for our dear friend and ministry partner, Travis Cottrell? He is really sick (nothing serious but pressing and almost travel-prohibitive – fever, etc.). He’s got several huge things coming up at once that need his utmost attention. First of all, it’s his and Angela’s darling Levi’s fifth birthday (that’s their baby) and they have his party today, then EARLY in the AM he’s got to board a flight to Puerto Rico for work with the International Mission Board THEN he goes straight into a city back in the States to serve at a church later in the weekend. I told him this morning if he didn’t get dramatically better soon, to consider allowing me to unleash the Siestas before the Throne of Grace in his behalf. Just got a call from him saying, “DO IT!” So, Siestas, DO IT!!!! Thank you so much. We have no dearer friends than he and Ang to LPM. I love you!

PS. You guys are the best. I just got home from Bible study and checked your responses, praying in agreement with you. Travis is the kind that will be really touched and humbled by all the support and so will Angela. I cannot even express what a wonderful woman of God she is. You’ll never waste a prayer on her because she is the one holding the three-children fort down (complete with home-schooling) when Trav is away. I loved the prayer for Travis that one of you related to the Scripture in Mark where Jesus raised the woman from the fever and she immediately began to serve Him. YES! Very appropriate! That’s what we need to happen. I’ll get you guys an update as soon as I hear one from him. Look at the top of this same post hopefully at some point over the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Keep praying until we get him to Puerto Rico and feeling strong! I am so thankful for you. You really came through on this. I knew you would, Christ be praised!

Just now (wed, 5 am) got to the blog and prayed before reading the comments. I know God knows our requests and prayers even before we do and so even though I am “late” in prayer for Travis, I know that God heard me yesterday!

John 3:34 says , “For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.”

Father, you gave Jesus your Spirit without limit. I pray that your limitless power will be at work in Travis’ life right now. May his health be restored and your Name be praised!

“In Christ alone, my hope is found. He is my light, my strength, my song…. This cornerstone, this solid ground. Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease. My comforter, my all in all, Here in the love of Christ I stand…”

Lord, I ask that you touch his body with your healing touch and restore his energy, so that he can continue in his service to you. Lord, I pray for Angela as she ministers not only to their three children, but also to Travis. We believe that you hear our prayers and that you will answer them! And we will give all honor and glory and praise to you…the ultimate Healer. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Oh Father – I pray for my brother and precious worship leader, Travis. May he have full deliverance from this bug and liberty to do all the things you’ve called him to do. Continue to use him mightily for Your glory, Lord, and wrap Your arms around him and keep him free from sickness and harm as he ministers in Your name. Bless Angela and their precious children Father – thank You for her willingness to keep the home a safe haven from the world and a refuge for their family.

Thank you Father for Your Word and as I pray Ps 13:6 for Travis – may Travis sing unto the Lord, for You have dealt bountifully with him!

    Amen and Amen

I’m a day late reading this but I am praying that Travis will feel well and get back on his feet.

While we are talking about prayer requests… My friend/babysitter passed away last week with lung cancer. She was only 45. It is very difficult. My 4 sweet children loved her dearly and she loved them. My sweet 4 year old twins are trying to figure it all out. They want to know if Jesus will take her out to eat and if they will wear shoes and will she have hair. All kinds of sweet questions. Pray that I can answer them in the right way. The praise is that she became a Christian about 6 months ago. She started coming to the kids Christmas programs and saw first hand the love of Jesus through kids eyes.

God is a God of instantaneous healing, and in Jesus name, may Travis be healed and full of energy, NOW.. And Father please protect Angela and the children, strengthen their immune systems, have mercy on them and show them your favor by completely covering them and shielding them from what Travis fought. In Jesus Name, Travis be healed.

Travis, in the mighty name of Jesus, I declare that this sickness must leave your body NOW. This sickness has no place, no authority in the body of a believer. In the name of Jesus, you must leave Devil! I’m sorry, but Travis is not of you, he is of God, our Father. Father God, you knit Travis in his mother’s womb. You created him in Your image. You have created him to be healthy, at peace, and full of rest. He is Your servant and he needs Your mighty hand to reach down and restore is weakened body so that he may go about Your business. In the name of Jesus, may he be touched right this minute. Thank You, Father God. Thank You.

    In Jesus Name,
    Amen

Just adding my prayers to the incense mix for Travis . . .

Beth – last night was awesome and so heart changing – my carpool siestas and I want to let you know that the last two weeks of praise and worship has been incredible – for the first time in three years we have heard the back up singers under the balcony and the balance has been such that we can hear the melody on songs we do not know – and it does help to have songs that we know a bit better . . . we have just been blown away at the response that we see around us that we have not seen before (and we can see almost the entire audience sans balcony!). Siestas were totally entering in in a way we have just not seen – do you think it is freedom??? Smiling for sure! Don’t know what they did, but it was top notch and we in the back girls say keep it coming! A bit more volume would be good as we are still loosing your voice at times . . . those little speakers just seem to not really work – maybe after the sound system overhaul they will! Yahoo-Jah!!!

Also – thanks siestas for prayers for my daughter – grand baby #1 is here! Check out a few pics if you desire – he is sure purdy . . . truly!

    HIS daughter says:

    Father,

Your will be done in everything. We want our plans to be YOUR plans.

Father, you know better than anyone how much Travis blesses and glorifies your precious name in so many places.

HIS voice brings all of us into a place of praise that we can draw closer and closer to you.

Father, Travis praises you like David, “with his whole heart”, and that is what you desire.

I boldly ask that through faith, if this is your will, heal him fully and restore to him health and refreshing.

I love you so much and believe that everything you do is for us and for our good.

To you is all the glory, honor and praise. You are worthy!

In the name of your beloved son and my beautiful savior, JESUS CHRIST I ask this…AMEN!

Go before him in the tasks that are set out for him to accomplish, and may he see your mighty hand moving in just a miraculous way. Lord, we thank you for what you are doing. I cannot imagine how much harder it is when you husband is gone as much as Travis. Thank you in advance for what You are going to do on his behalf. Work and move as only you can!

Father, your Word says that we are to give thanks in ALL things, and for that reason, I thank You for this fever that has pestered our brother, Travis this week. May it be used to remind him of how precious good health is and how AMAZING You are!

Take this physical fever, Lord, and transform it into a spiritual fire that will light the hearts of men and women this week!

I thank You for the privilege of prayer, for the blessings of good health, and for Your servants, Travis included, that help us draw near to You through the ministry of music.

Now Lord, I beg that You speak the Word of healing over Travis. We know that Your Word makes things happen. You are so cool!

Come Lord Jesus, work Your will in the life of Travis, his family, and LPM. We trust You to pour out so many blessings on them all, that they cannot contain them. I offer up the sacrifice of praise to You Lord. Bless the glorious Name of Jesus!

    Amen.
