Prayer SOS for one of our Best LPM Buddies

Hey, Siestas! I am so grateful for your kindness. This is from an email I got from Trav and Angela last night:

“Thanks so much for the call to prayer you gave. Ang and I were overwhelmed as we read all of the sweet prayers and messages. Too much! What an amazing community. I am proud to be a MIESTA. Their prayers are already working…”

Then a text this morning: “Hey! On the plane right now. Thanks to the prayers of sweet siestas…I am much better! Worst of it pretty much gone. Just feeling a little run down. Thanks for sending the SOS!”

Let me tell you how much impact you had through the power of Christ, Girls. The man I talked to yesterday – even last night via text – was in no shape to get on a plane this morning. But he did. God be praised! Never underestimate the power of prayer!! When you band together to believe God, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. God LOVES the faith and unity so much.

Original request:
Siestas, I wonder if you’d quickly jump on the prayer train with me for our dear friend and ministry partner, Travis Cottrell? He is really sick (nothing serious but pressing and almost travel-prohibitive – fever, etc.). He’s got several huge things coming up at once that need his utmost attention. First of all, it’s his and Angela’s darling Levi’s fifth birthday (that’s their baby) and they have his party today, then EARLY in the AM he’s got to board a flight to Puerto Rico for work with the International Mission Board THEN he goes straight into a city back in the States to serve at a church later in the weekend. I told him this morning if he didn’t get dramatically better soon, to consider allowing me to unleash the Siestas before the Throne of Grace in his behalf. Just got a call from him saying, “DO IT!” So, Siestas, DO IT!!!! Thank you so much. We have no dearer friends than he and Ang to LPM. I love you!

PS. You guys are the best. I just got home from Bible study and checked your responses, praying in agreement with you. Travis is the kind that will be really touched and humbled by all the support and so will Angela. I cannot even express what a wonderful woman of God she is. You’ll never waste a prayer on her because she is the one holding the three-children fort down (complete with home-schooling) when Trav is away. I loved the prayer for Travis that one of you related to the Scripture in Mark where Jesus raised the woman from the fever and she immediately began to serve Him. YES! Very appropriate! That’s what we need to happen. I’ll get you guys an update as soon as I hear one from him. Look at the top of this same post hopefully at some point over the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Keep praying until we get him to Puerto Rico and feeling strong! I am so thankful for you. You really came through on this. I knew you would, Christ be praised!

A privilege to pray for Travis as his music has definitely served as prayer for me at times. Rest in His good plans through even this illness, Travis. He knows your needs and where He needs you. We trust Him to know what is best. Take care…

Praise God! I’m thrilled to hear that Travis, our own “miesta” is on his way to Puerto Rico. I’m sure he feels drained, but that’s where more prayer for “strength” comes in! It’s so awesome to see how God works in our daily lives–24/7!

    Thanks for the update!

I’m praying for Travis and his family. So very thankful for him! God blesses us with his ministry! Must share this with you all! Just 10 min. ago finished “Steppin’ Up” – I am mentally right now on my face praising my Father who spoke so clearly through your last lesson in this series Beth. His timing is always perfect! I’m telling you, I’m going through some stuff and I hear folks tellin’ me I don’t know how you can do what you do everyday. I could not live the difficult life you live! Now, what did you just say to me – Beth Moore – God spoke to me through you and said “I am giving you strength on your broken road right now!” How incredibly wonderful my God is and I’m a singing fool right now for the LORD! Hallelujah! Amen! Praise You Father!

  19. 169
    HIS daughter says:

Thank you Beth for letting us know how GOD is working in Travis’ life!

I love the Father so! As you say, “Ain’t HE sweet? Ain’t HE good?”

Oh yes, HE is my everything and sweet and good are just two of millions that are used to describe my ABBA!!

All glory to HIM who is worthy of our praises!!

Blessings, Love and Prayers to you and the entire LPM group!

I’m so sorry. I just got on the computer for the first time since Monday. I’ve had a sick kid, but I’m glad Travis is feeling better. Chloe is too. She’s still a little under the weather, so as long as we’re praying for sick people you cand pray for Chloe. She’s 5 years old and has a fever, a really bad sore throat, and aches all over. Ever since after school yesterday. She doesn’t seem quite as achey but it still hurts to swallow, so she’s not eating much.

Thank You, Father, for Your Healing Power in this need. Continue blessing Travis with good health and a heart surrendered to Your Call. Bless his peeps. Restore any time lost double-fold. And for Angela, a true woman-of-faith-and-purpose, may she be found in You…may she know You as her “Quiet Place.” Praising You…hollering hosannas (as The Message would say)…for You do all things well. In Jesus Name. Amen.

I missed yesterday, but can I just laugh at Travis calling himself a “Miesta” among us??? That is just as funny as him naming himself “FryDaddy” over at BooMamas.

He really needs to be an honorary member of SiestaVille.

    TOO FUNNY!!!

    and Beth, you use of
“home-schooling” with the hyphen took me back to the entry forever ago about the hs mom who was still trying to figure out if it should be hyphenated or not…

Homeschooling (minus the hyphen) in Mississippi

Travis~may God heal you completely~Matthew 11:28-rest in the arms of your Restorer.
Acts 3:9…This weekend may you walk, jump and praise God where you’ll be ministering at!

    Angela~Proverbs 31:28
The nights you sleep alone or run your household alone while your husband is gone, may God bring you peace with the vision of broken hearts being restored through the worship God uses your man to lead. God’s presence is thick in the room when He uses your Travis to lead the siestas. I know,I was in the Qwest Center in Omaha last year with hands raised high, heart bowing to my Heavenly Father & tears flowing.
Love to you, my sister in Christ.

Siestas please pray for my little dog Phoebe. She is a dachshund and had to have surgery for a ruptured disc in her back on Monday. She still isn’t walking, but that isn’t unusual, it can take up to 5-7 days before they see any sign of recovery. The cost of the surgery was ridiculous but I didn’t know what else to do, please just pray for a full recovery, I can’t afford anymore surgerys.

I have prayed for Travis and am so thankful to our Lord that He has shown Himself again.
This is my first time to blog so I’m a little unsure of protocol. I covet the prayers of all of you ladies for a mission trip that my husband, 17 and 14 year old daughters, myself and 7 others will be leaving on Monday the 10th. We will be going to Satu Mare, Romania for the 3rd time. We will be ministering in Bethel Baptist Church, street witnessing, and starting a church in a nearby village. These are such a precious people who have been through so very much, but now, the younger generation has become very westernized and they are seeing much of the same things we are seeing here in America. Pray that the weather will allow us to get to this remote villiage, that we will see many come to know Christ in a villiage that has approximately 5-7 believers or repenters as they are called there. We are asking the Lord for the whole villiage. Pray that we will have no opposition from the enemy but that the way will be made smooth. Pray for our health, several of us have been sick in the last couple of weeks, and of course safety as we travel. Thank you all so very much for completing your part of the body of Christ.

Thank You and I love ya’ll

Immediately this old hymn came to mind when I read the update on Travis.

“Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
Oh come to the Father thru Jesus the Son,
and give him the glory, great things he hath done! “

So thrilled to hear the update and offer God praise:

Thank you Lord that You heard our prayers from all across the map
Praise You Lord, You always listen -never do You slumber or nap
And even though in my typed prayer there was a misspelling
You answer & it doesn’t depend on me that Your healing power in Travis is dwelling
So an outpouring of praise, we lift to You
And exalt You for doing what only You can do
Thank You for answering so quickly from Your throne
We love You, we praise You & thank You that our earthly bodies are Your own
We rise up to dance & lift our hands in praise
Creator, Reedemer, Healer, Ancient of Days
Praise You Lord, Praise You Lord for the healing of Travis
Thank You that You are in control, hear our prayers, are over all & have been so lavish
Thank you God, Thank You God for You are Holy, Exalted & on the throne
And for allowing Travis to travel to make You known
