I don;t have words yet to describe this weekend with Beth! I love Beth and her studies, we are about to start ESTHER next month at Church and I can't wait!! I LOVE my Bible Study girls!! I crave that time with God and the girls!!
I can't wait until the kids are quiet and I can talk with my God:)

Beth, we have our cooking in common…there are a few (few being the operative word) things I do well in the kitchen. I would rather be studying God's Word than cooking, but my husband thinks he needs to eat 2-3 times a day…imagine that :o) Your cake recipe sounds simple enough and my husband does like chocolate so I will be making it for him soon. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks so much for this weekend!I attended at First Baptist in Fernandina, FL. I came to the event, one thirsty girl and I left so full of God! I didn't know what the topic of the event would be, only that I desperately needed a fresh word. When I got there I knew God was speaking to me. I had grown weary in serving and doing. I was losing my wonder at Him.

I knew when I left I had to go home and check my JAW…I spent some time with the Lord this morning praying through each letter. For some reason, I felt compelled to write a list. God used this to show me, that for me, the three things are closely related. The things that arouse jealousy in me are also things I can be angry about and worry about. I am making a list of scriptures to memorize in each area
to help keep my heart clean :).

I felt like my two little boys who love to go on bug hunts, turning over rocks and capturing what crawls out in a jar.
I turned over the rocks of my stone filled heart, and gave those ugly bugs to God. I feel so free now. So blessed. Thank you Beth for allowing God to use you.

Never mind the fact that I haven't worn my contacts since Friday night from all the bawlin', I'm whipping up this cake for my family now for no reason whatsoever!

My sweet grandmother from Blytheville, Arkansas used to make this for us when we visited every summer from Kentucky. Are you sure it's not Arkansas Sheet cake?

Beth, I am making this recipe as I am typing. Since I am gluten intolerant, I am modifying the recipe for me. The batter tastes just as good with rice flour as it would with wheat flour. Thanks for blessing Green Bay this weekend. It was wonderful.

I had to bow out of the simulcast to prepare meals for and pack for travel to the ranch to celebrate 3 family members' birthdays. One family came in for a rare visit from Virginia, so the party was on.
The thing is, I needed a very quick cake recipe, and dug one out that I had forgotten about…..amazingly, it is almost the exact recipe as the Texas Sheet Cake, (minus the cinnamon), but the name we have gone by is "Quick Chocolate Cake" . It came to us via the father of my sister's current boyfriend back in the late 60's. Definitely a hit. How weird to see it on the LPM blog.
I'll try it with some cinnamon to see how that changes it.

    Dearest Beth,
I have to tell you I made the cake and brought it to work – it was a big hit! Although I must admit I did have a blonde moment. When the directions said pour on cake while still hot, I thought it meant when the "cake" was still hot – not just the frosting. May I say that I am a brunette and I work in a Pediatric ICU – therefore blonde moments are not common for me!
Ya know how you say blonder than she pays to be – My question is when one immerses herself in your bible studies – not only are they life changing – but are these blonde moments catching? If they are your bible studies should come with a warning label! Just kidding! (Smile) I have been praying for you during the GB Simulcast. God Bless You Richly!

It made me want to cultivate a DEEPER relationship with the ONE who created me.
Thanks SO much for making this happen- I look forward to the next one that is near Columbus, Mississippi!!!!

Beth, thank you for the story you told about Jackson and his longing for cake – and how you said he wanted something so badly but wasn't willing to do what it took to get it, eg. eat his lunch! πŸ™‚ It made me think of the things I desparately want and the things I'm not doing to get there, eg. I want so badly to have the deepest relationship with Christ, but I wake up late and crash into bed without having spent more than two minutes in prayer and a minute in the Word. I am so READY to "eat my lunch!" Thank you Beth Moore! You are one of the hugest blessings in my life!

I had such a great time this weekend. I was diagnosed with cancer back in April and attending the simulcast (St.Cloud, Florida) you got me thinking. I could not think or remember my hearts desires. I have been so focused on fighting this cancer and determined to be here for my children. Thank you for planting that seed in my heart and helping me to remember what my desires are. I am still unclear as to what they are. I have buried them so deep it is going to take some time to bring them back to the surface. Thank you so much for what you do.

    Beth

I was in Michigan via simulcast this weekend. For some this was their first time accepting Christ, for others like myself this weekend served as a reminder of just how awesome GOD is. Can I hear an AMEN? The 6th point in your message on Psalms 37:4 spoke volumes to me "Nothing is passive about patiently waiting for desire to turn into delight." As Christians we are not called to be stagnant where we are at in our lives, we are called to be active in our faith. I praise God for giving you those words that I needed to hear. I have so many things to deal with and its hard to sit back and let God take the captains chair. He's got a mighty plan for me and I can't wait to let that wave come over me. Speaking of which- a little story. A friend of mine a few years back was on a beach in Cali walking he asked God why have you not placed a woman in my life? Not to long after a tidal wave washed him, his clothes soaked, his phone damaged, his pocket Bible bone dry. Guess he got the message.

Ok, I made this "Texas" cake of ours and those at my mother's home, loved not only "licking the bowls" but the cake in its final presentation- frankly, I was sick after I ate tooo many bites that should not have "counted"- this was a spiritual experience for me- that toooo much sugar and tooo many honors are not good for us- but just the right amount are blessings- it is up to us to decide which we choose-I hate that many times the ones we love and should have loved us, do not bless us in this journey and cause a bit of stumbling- you have mentioned the issues with our mothers and they are real- I just do NOT want to continue the tradition in my family- it is BAD and SAD for all involved. Lots of Love to you precious women of Christ!

After church on Sunday I came home and baked the Texas Sheet Cake. Sunday evening when Jackson had his first bite he said, "Cake, Yum, Yum, Yum!!!!"
The next day when coming back to Nana's house he saw the cake sitting on the kitchen counter and immediately said, "caaaaaaaake". So, there is another Jackson who loves Beth's cake. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Please call the church office and they will give you my phone number so we can get together. I have a friend who lost her husband one year ago this week. She is forming a group for women like you and her who have lost their husbands. She is anxious to talk to you. It helps to have someone who has experienced the same loss to talk to.
"What a wonderful God we have……the One Who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials. And why does He do this? So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us." 2 Cor. 1:3-4

My dear sweet Mother in Law( who is now with the Lord) gave me this recipe years ago.
She called it " Texas Sheet Cake"!!

I was reading your blog for the first time and read how you born n Green Bay Wis! ( a cheesehead!)
I am Wisc native, but now my son and family live in Houston, I visit at least one full month out of the year! I could move there in a nanosecond! (but would miss the Northwoods of Wisc,,, and our beloved Door County just a tidge further up from Green Bay)
I am trying to start memorizing Scripture with all my heart now.
Feel the need to do so now more than ever. Guess I will start small.

One more thing about this recipe my MIL wrote down
Should you not have any buttermilk in your fridge,,,,she told me to add 1 tsp of vinegar to normal milk

I would think real buttermilk would be richer but I do not normally have it round the house!

How we enjoyed the deeply rich chocolate cake at our Bible study that Tuesday after the Simulacast.(I'll post a picture on my blog of the cake, Bible study ladies and Beth in the backround on the t.v.)By that time-I had all the notes typed out and printed off for everyone. How we needed Psalm 37-

That simulacast changed a friends heart that weekend. Years of running away from a "church" she finally gave in to opening her heart back to another. She was protecting herself from "people" in the church when she was really putting the wall up between her and God- that hit two ladies that weekend. One got it the other is still working on it now..we're praying for her which is my sister.

With much praise for that weekend- my precious friend has become very active in praying inside outside around the community and for the church she and her family attends now. (Her whole family-rejoice)rejoice!) We are walking this thing out in prayer..and with that a prayer group has just been birthed in our church.

Thanks for the cake-thanks for the Word-thanks be to our God for His greatness He does through you.

Praying for the Living Proof Ministry.

This recipe sounds fabulous! I do have one important question as I share this with my Canadian girlfriends! We, in Canada, purchase our icing sugar in bags (not in a box). So the ingredient stating 1/2 box or 1 box is foreign to us. Could someone indicate how many grams (oops! I mean ounces) are in a box (or cups, preferably). Also, is 1 stick of butter considered 1/2 a cup?

    Greatly appreciated!
