WOW! Our Father is so good! Myself and 3 others from our women's Bible study were "with" you, attending via Pasadena, Calif. What a sweet time! And Girlfriend, you know what we are having for treats for our first Fall meeting in September — Beth's Texas Sheet Cake!
I thought you called it a cheat cake!
I am so glad that Bibby gave Jackson the cake!! LOL!!!
Hi LPM Team!
No simulcast church near me (rats!), but sure have had you in my thoughts and prayers!
Beth, may God help you get some restful sleep tonight, and continue to fill and use you tomorrow!
Amanda, your mom must have talked about this cake at the simulcast and – bam – what a team, you have the recipe up already! You go girl!
I'll keep all of you and the simulcast sites in my prayers for Saturday.
Thanks for your serving hearts!
Jo
If I was not already making another cake, I would make this one!
Our study group will be wrapping up the Esther series Saturday AM with brunch and "A Night with the King" since there is no simulcast near us.
The Journey Continues ~
Thank you!!!!
You know what would go great with the Texas Sheet Cake????
A Starbucks Venti with an extra shot = Delight!!!

I'm a civil engineer but not very computer savy. So I wanted to post a comment on the site and thought: what the heck, chocolate works for most things, so let me post this right here hext to where it says "Beth's Texas Sheet Cake"….My Husband is Mike Carambat, and my daughter is Amanda Carambat. Mike Carambat is an IT Director at Istrouma Baptist Church in BAton Rouge, Louisiana. Yesterday at the simulcast I was struck in awe of God's power and grace and the thought that if he had not climbed on the roof of the Church to fix the satelite feed, all the women at our Church would have missed out on the wonder that last night's message was!!!!! My 7 year old daughter (Amanda) did not want to stay at childcare and being daddy's little girl followed him around (even up onto the roof!). What an awesome show of God's power — HE can truly use all things for the good to those who love HIM!!!!!

I attended the simulcast in Colonial Heights, VA. What a powerful night! I thank you, the magnificent worship team, and everyone involved in making this happen. You certainly picked a subject close to many women's hearts, as we so often bury our desires and dreams as we continually put the needs of everyone around us above our own. I'm sure there must be many who battle as I do with the burden of responsibility of so many things that need to be done and always being so far behind that I've gone through the past decade believing that I simply don't have time to pursue the passionate purposes of God that He placed within me. Hence, I followed the pattern of many by falling prey to despair and bitterness. It is so true that "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." After all, God has a work that we're to walk in that he prepared for each one of us before our very birth and if we're not doing what He created us to do we experience anguish within. As you pointed out, even the most gentle and sensitive amongst us will develop calloused hearts living in bondage. He didn't create us to live like that.
I’ve rediscovered that God has a Promised Land prepared for each of us based on what He's called us to do. But as God so clearly let Moses know, it's up to us to "go take the land" that He is giving us. And yes… there will be giants and battles to face before we can claim the victory that God has already declared as done in our lives. I’ve learned that's where faith comes in. Will we trust in, rely on and adhere to what God has instructed us to do – the unshakeable desires of our heart – or will we look at our circumstances and our feelings and turn back in despair just as the scouts that Moses sent out to asses the promised land did. Only Caleb had faith to possess the promise (Num 13) because he followed God fully (Num 14:24). And Numbers 14:8 tells us clearly that "if the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us…". There's that word "delight" again. And what causes God to not delight in us? Our grumblings, fear and disbelief (Num 14:2, 9, 11).
Look up Exodus 6:5-9. God heard the groanings of the Israelites as they endured slavery under the Egyptians and responded by declaring His promise to the people about freeing them from their bondage and burdens and bringing them into the land He had prepared for them, but read the people's response – "they refused to listen because of their impatience and anguish of spirit and because of their cruel bondage" [v9 AMP]. Their captivity in their circumstances had hardened their hearts to God's word. I will be the first to confess that I have fallen into this trap of responding to God with the words "Yes, but…" As Jesse Duplantis is so fond of saying, many of us just need to get our buts out the way! From that point on, God gave a series of instructions to Moses that would step by step bring the people into that promised land. However, it was up to them to follow through on that instruction. God says = we do.
I've come to understand over the past year that while we so often sit around and wait for God to "do something", the reality is that oftentimes He's the one waiting on us to "do something"! I think the question many of us need to ask ourselves is (including me!) are we actively doing what we know God has already instructed us to do? Once we start to bring that heart's desire to life He will give us each new step along the way. We don't have to know it all up front.
Listening to you tonight prompted a 2 hour talk with my husband once I got home, hence me sitting here finishing this post at 3:30am, and the inspiration for the above post came from our chat as we ended up being led to these Scriptures that I hope will minister to those who read them.
Many blessings to you all, and especially to you Beth for you boldness and fearlessness in bringing a much needed message to us sisters! I hear many chains of bondage being broken off this weekend. Thank you for speaking God's Word to help set the captives free!
Caroline, Petersburg, VA.
I attended my first Simulcast in Bakersfield CA. This evening was truly a blessing and am looking forward to tomorrow! thank you for your Texas Sheet cake Recipe!!
May God bless you
Terri
Oh poo. I'm so bummed that I'm having to miss this year's simulcast – but that's what two son's football games will do to a soul.
But I'm going to read me some Psalm 37 and then make me some cake.
Yep. I'll be drowning my sorrow in Beth's Texas Sheet Cake. I'll be having my cake and eating it too, I will.
(Any possibility of the simulcast being linked to the Living Proof site for those of us Siestas who have family commitments this weekend?? Just askin')
Have fun Green Bay, have fun everyone!
Thinking about you,
Warm in Alaska.
Thank you so much for being a vessle God has used for me for the last 20 years. Tonight, once again God used you to speak directly to me about the direction I am to go. For once in very long time I am clear and excited about my journey. – And – I get to begin my journey with CAAAAKKKEEE!
Mrs. Bethmoore,
Thank you for tonight – not just the cake recipe – but the message you presented so well!
Cool stuff happening! Go God! At Kingwood UMC in Tx, a huge storm came through (incl hail) and knocked out our satellite signal right after you sat in that woman's lap and started to give a shout out to HFBC. Of course we were sad but the leaders here asked if anyone wanted to stand up and lead us in song. Next thing you know, this young girl, probably about 10+ y.o., stood up, took the mic and belted out some awesome praise songs! She has an amazing voice – beautiful! After her first song, we all wanted more but she said she didn't want to hog the mic. How sweet is that?!! So we encouraged her to sing more and she got even better and bolder! I took a photo but don't know how to get it to you. Right after she sat down about 10 minutes later, the signal came back on. Gotta be God – He wanted to hear her sing! And wanted us to hear her too. Isn't he great at taking what could upset us and turning it around?! Wow! And we still got most of the message from point #1.
Is there an email address I can send the photo to so you can see the next member of your praise band?
~Lynnette in Houston
(okay, Kingwood tonight)
Caaaaaaaake!! LOL
Excited about today's sessions! 🙂
Dearest Beth and Living Proof Ministries, I am a single parent Army officer with 15 years active duty service. THANK YOU for your gift to Ft Leavenworth, KS. Going on 8 years of WAR, the women in that sanctuary last night needed God's encouragement. We all need God's encouragement more than ever (and maybe a slice of Beth's Texas Sheet Cake, as well). God Bless your faithful obedience.

Sounds like it would be a family favorite in any home… especially for those "grandbabies". Thank you, Amanda for posting it. My 82 yr old Mother who attended with me immediately wanted the recipe as she is an avid baker.
Last night's simulcast was the best. Thank you Beth and your team for providing us with such an awesome message from our Loving Lord. My prayer is ALWAYS to have a heart to delight in Him!!
Thank you and God Bless!!
Love in Christ,

Thank you for such a timely word. Over the last few weeks God has been reminding me that the things I long for the most are the things of my broken dreams, missed opportunities and failures in life. I praise him and give him glory because he has changed me, redeemed me and taken me to places I would never have dreamed as a young women. Yet some of those longings still remain. Sometimes in ministry you can become what others want of you…how can you REALLY know it is what God wants of you??
Attending simulcast in Cincinnati Ohio
Beth THANK YOU! Oh I am struggling with what I WANT to do, and I really need to hear God talking to me and get me to Want what I Need! The desires of the heart and then God gets to the heart of the desire to help us—you are right on target with what is going on in my head the past few months-2 years really—-what I want and what direction God is pushing me do NOT mix well and I am struggling sooooo hard to give in to HIM because in my mind, its not what I WANT–I keep saying but HE doesnt live here in this house day in and day out BUT I KNOW HE DOES, I just am pigheaded adn stubborn when I really need to just surrender to Him, I mean who better to surrender too and say, you are right I CAN NOT DO THIS on my own!
I can not wait for this morning for the remainder of the sessions! And vs 4 has been one I have struggled with understanding since I found Ps 37 a few months ago–Thank YOU!
Lisa
Last night's session was so amazing. What a blessing to imagine, 516 sites and 90,000+ people sharing the same experience. The Word was so appropriate for us as women, so many times we are concerned about everyone else's desires. Thank you, Beth for asking us to stop and lay our desires out before our God. He is the ALMIGHTY!! AMEN!!!
PS Don't think we didn't notice that "chiastic structure" in point #2!!!!!!
Beth – The Holy Spirit is speaking through you on this event. Our whole site was moved deeply by His message.
PLEASE post the scripture ABC's you mentioned. It would be great for me as well as an easy way to teach my toddlers.
Praying for you and your whole team this morning!
Not sure when to add the boiling mixture! No time this morning if I'm going to drive the 30 miles to
LP.
Praying for the hearts of women to be soft and ready to receive the word of the Lord today!!!
I'm also praying for the Living Proof & Lifeway staff and all the churches hosting a simulcast!

Our family just moved to a new city… and though I've met a few sweet gals, none could attend the simulcast. So I have the opportunity to attend alone. Friday night was so wonderful and I'm super excited to head back this morning. But, last night as I drove home alone (listening to my new Travis cd and having a great time with God), I was desperately trying to figure out how to get my hand's on this cake so late at night! 🙂 It'll just have to be tonight instead. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Looks similar to my mom's crowd pleasin' sheet cake…all the way down to the 2 sticks of butter!
When she brought it into the house you could almost hear the chorus… "We shall come rejoicing, she's bringing in the sheet cake!" :^)
Before I say what I'm going to, let me defend myself and say that I am from up North originally, but we're living in NC… so when you began talking about your cake last night, I could have sworn you said, Texas Chocolate {Cheese} Cake. If that didn't make me feel like a dint, I then thought you said, Anna {Bell}. *sigh* Obviously my ears need some tuning last night and boy did they ever get it.
God has really begun dealing with things still bond in my heart that I just can't figure out. I've asked Him for years to help me, but it only seemed to get better, to get much worse. But lately, oh how My Daddy is cleaning and pruning… and I am serious about letting Him do it. I'm knew to blogging myself and alot of my posts recently have all had the theme about the heart… without me realizing it at first. But God knew what He was doing and how to wake me up. My true surrender was only the other night in a post entitled Control of The Heart. And then your message spanned the waves to reach inside this heart of mine and give it a further tap and hug straight from the One who loves me and knows me best.
Thank you, Beth for being the vessel in which God used to 'tune' my ears a little more last night.
Also thanking you for your {Cheese} cake recipe and… seriously, how CUTE is that Anna {Bell}!?
Thanks for posting, Amanda.
Oh… I know this is way long. Sorry! Tell Travis and his crew that they are AMAZING!!! I was in tears and [lifting] my hands and heart to the Father!
I feel like a dope asking this, but here goes: what size sheet cake pan? A full size or 13×9? Sorry, but I made is once in a jelly roll pan and it was wonderful but awful flat…I am terribly sorry, but being from NY might have something to do with it! LOL!
Beth, You are priceless!!! Just had dental surgery and I thought I was going to pop my stitches right out of my mouth when you were telling about Jackson. I know exactly how he feels and when I can eat right again, your Texas Sheet Cake will be the first thing I make and eat, probably ALL by myself!!! Thank you. Love,Becca
P.S. He is my Heart's Desire!!!
I am going to make this for the kick off of our Fall Bible Study of Ester! It is a desire of the heart for sure
As I look at this recipe I realized it is identical to the one my own Grandma makes, I can truly relate to your Grandson being fixated on the cake. After the session today I think I'm gonna be baking..Last night was absolutely amazing! I'm not a morning person but this morning I went to hit snooze and as I was trying to figure out exactly how much longer I could allow myself to sleep I remembered that I was spending the morning with God and you and an amazing group of woman at that moment I got up so fast I didn't even realize that I still had over and hour and a half until I had to be ready to leave. What a blessing this is I'll be praying for you and all at LMN this morning. Thank you
We have a 60 mile drive to the Simulcast and on the way home our hearts were focused on "wishing" we had a piece of this, a very LARGE piece of this cake. Oh yeah….perhaps soon.
Lovingly,
Yolanda
I am attending the simulcast in Rockport, Texas. I use to make this cake and it was my families absolute favorite. I lost the recipe and just the other day I thought about how good this cake was and how much we enjoyed it. Since we had moved since I made it I figured the recipe was lost forever. You cannot imagine my delight to check out Beth's recipe and find out it is the same one I use to make. Thank you for posting this on your blog. I am praying for you Beth. I am praying our LORD will put His words in your heart and out your mouth, that He will pour out His Spirit upon you and and every person attending. That His desires will become our desires and lives will be changed forever. God bless you and your obedient heart! I have done many of your studies and He has used your obedience to help change me into a woman who delights in Him so much that she craves Him like water in the middle of the desert in the hottest part of the day. Thank you for your obedience Beth.

I'm at the simulcast in Georgia and it is a BLESSING!!! God is good.
To God be the Glory for the worldwide simulcast last night led by none other than the Holy Spirit Himself!!! Bless you, Beth, for your commitment to His call! Looking forward to today!

Jesus…,my family…,Beth Moore's Texas Sheet Cake Recipe….,Celebrating my 45th Birthday with her and 516 Churches on August 29th 2009….What's left to desire?
This sounds great. I think it will become several families favorite.
Thank you for sharing the recipe, and part of your life.
Attending and it is such a blessing.
OOOH YUM. Boy I wish I could share some cake and some coffee with you all… as do hundreds and hundreds of people all over the place. 🙂 Nevertheless… you are so very loved and in my prayers! Thanks for the recipe! ;)love, Mary
Thank you! I looked at the recipe and all I can see in my mind is Beth imitating her grandson saying, "Cake, cake, cake, cake…" LOL LOL LOL That will be my son when I make it.
Last night was wonderful and I am so grateful to have been a part of the 516 torches that the Lord looked down and saw.
Blessed!! Vicki in Morehead, Ky.
Lancaster, SC loved you last night as well.
I have one question about the cake — what size pan do I use? 9×13? or larger? I know in Texas things are bigger, but wanted to make it just like you! Love you!
I am surprised you give out your recipe! I have a girlfriend who will not share. (Because she says then everyone starts showing up with the dish/cake-whatever it is and she won't be the only one to make the amazing thing)
Thank you Lord for Beth. I could go on about how great she is to share your message and love, but you know that.
Thank you Beth for following your hearts desire and doing what you want.
He can use anyone!
God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called!

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! STOP THE PRESSES!!!
OK, I love, love, love the powdered sugar icing that goes on this type of cake, but I HAVE TO SAY that you need to edit the recipe to say "Put the icing on the cake while the ICING is hot" not while the CAKE is hot!"
My mom's recipe for the icing reads the exact same as this one "put icing on the cake while hot" and for YEARS I've thought, "OK, well, usually you ice a cake when it's cooled, but this recipe must be different" and then the hot icing makes the hot cake all gooey. Not that gooey is a bad thing, but it was only THIS year that I went, "OH! The ICING should be hot…NOT THE CAKE!" I fully realize that everyone might already know this, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway!
I love this blog, and find it so fun and inspiring! Thanks for taking the time to write!
God is soooo GOOD! He has freed me from a stronghold from my past and allowed me to entertain the thought of partaking in this wonderful delight. Thank you sooo much for the recipe. There will be a run on butter this afternoon about 12:30pm!One question…what size sheet cake is it…9×13…larger???
Going through a change in churches – I have been a member in one denomination all my 39 years of life. I feel like I am betraying them by going to another church, but I am not being fed there. I cannot praise God freely where I sit in church. The rules of the church are now going against the word of God. I am tired of defending all my actions to those around me, but they are in accordance to the word of God. I need to feel alive and feel God's love in a real way during worship. I want to taste and see that the Lord is good. I want to desire him like I do that delicious cake! Thanks for being used of God in my life.
Loving God's instument of Beth Moore's simulcast in Sioux Center, Iowa ~ Lynn
oh yeah
Thanks for the recipe. I think every Texan has had this. 🙂
I really enjoyed last night. I am addending the simulcast in Colorado. Ready to head back for more. God bless y'all!
I was so blessed attending the simucast last night. I am up and anxious to start today. I have a Texas sheet cake recipe but not with the same ingredients!! I think I will have to make it soon. Praying for the entire team this morning.
Good Morning Beth and everybody. I am attending the Simulcast in the Portland, OR area. Loved last night; the illustration that stuck with me was about how a baby finally focuses and smiles that slick, gummy ear to ear smile…and that when we finally smile at God, who created us and has loved us with an everlasting love, He is delighted.
Praying for the women as I read through the blogs. Know today will be a joyous one in 516 locations on earth and in heaven as the angels rejoice over what God is doing in our midst.
I love this cake, I won a blue ribbon with it in a 4-H cooking contest many years ago. ok many, many years ago. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Last night in the Simulcast in Bellingham, WA — when Beth mentioned the three sticks of butter — laugh out loud moment… followed by more laugh out loud moments describing Jackson's desire for "CAAAAKKKEEEE"… and some more laughter as we reflected with Beth's encouragement about our own Jackson behaviors with God. (confessing that after reading this recipe…I might be right there with Jackson, as I prep for the simulcast and our prayer team this morning – and be thinking… CAAAAAKKKKEEE….)
Thanks for sharing
And thank you to all at Living Proof for this event — it is blessing deeply 275 women in a packed Womens Ministry event in the Washington
Shawna
Heading off this morning to see my bff – Mama Beth!
Thanks for the recipe, but I wonder if I am the only one wondering – is a sheet cake made in a 13 x 9 x2 pan or is it a cookie sheet??? Thankfully my Bible skills are better than my baking skills.
Love you all at LPM!!!
Susan
Thank you Beth for such a great simulcast last night. Your words and God's voice hit me like a ton of bricks last night. I just have to share this with you. I am a teacher and I have done nothing but complain about the group of kids I have this year. I have several students who come from homes that are very undesirable. To put it mildly they are a handful.
Last night when you told us to lay our hearts desires out on our laps for God. Of course my were all centered around my family. That is when it hit me. God has my family in his hands and he knows my desires for them, I make them clear daily, sometimes hourly. He spoke to me loud and clear: He put those kids in my class for a reason. They need love in their little lives. They need to know someone cares about them, and about their future. They are only with me for a few months out of the year. It is now my hearts desire to show them love, understanding and hopefully some fun in the short period I have them. I truly thank you for opening my heart enough to hear God's words. I am now excited about the rest of the school year, instead of dreading it. I know it will be a good year with God on my side. He really is still in a lot of classrooms across the U.S.
I can't wait for today's simulcast.
Thank You again,
"CAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKE"
I just can't seem to fit 3 sticks of butter into my new healthier eating program……hmmmm.
Waiting expectantly for a Word this morning at the simulcast!
