To Amanda, From Curtis

Amanda, here are a few specific things I’m thankful for on our anniversary…

-I’m thankful you chose to spend the summer of 2000 doing missions instead of lounging by a pool somewhere.

-I’m thankful you canceled your flight from Springfield to Houston to drive twelve hours with someone you had known for a week. I would punch myself in the face if Annabeth did that. No wonder your dad didn’t like me.

-I’m thankful you accidentally told me you wanted to marry me three weeks later.

-I’m thankful you cried when it was time to head back to our respective colleges at the end of the summer.

-I’m thankful for AT&T long distance cell phone bills.

-I’m thankful for through-the-night drives to Texas for weekend visits and the C+ grade point average they produced.

-I’m thankful for 14 long months of engagement.

-I’m thankful that when the doors flew open at the back of the church, you were the one who came out.

-I’m thankful for ten toothbrush holders and paying our rent with the money we got for returning them.

-I’m thankful for four years of just you and me.

-I’m thankful for T-ball sets and footy pajamas.

-I’m thankful for the white house with black shutters I share with the world’s greatest wife.

They say year seven is the hardest. Let’s roll it up, beat it into submission, and show it who’s boss. I love you and would pick you all over again.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Prov 31:25

Our minister said something very true at church this last Sunday. He said that he's learned that the amount of return on romance is in direct proportion to the number of women you make "jealous". I think you got your mileage out of this one. Good job! :0)

I loved the part about paying rent by returning some toothbrush holders. For our wedding over 13 years ago, we got china service for 22! 22 people – we would NEVER have that many at one time! Especially not to be served from our China. We took 12 settings back to the store and had a fabulous shopping trip! Plus, we still had some left to help with the rent! Ah, to be newly married a poor – that is the stuff that makes memories.

Blessings on "year seven." My hubs and I are moving on to "year 9" in about 3 weeks…and against the odds, just let me testify…year seven WAS the worst year for us–we thought we were going to just give it up altogether at one point that year…but GOD IS SO FAITHFUL…and He really did leave us good instructions…when we began to follow them, He began to move on our behalf…and now–we don't just love each other–we actually FEEL like we love each other, too! "Year 8" has been AMAZING for us…it feels like a fairytale all of a sudden! Thank You, Lord…please bless Curtis and Amanda with your amzing peace, power, and love in their marriage this year!

Happy Anniversary. Good job Curtis. Honoring your wife in front of other women is wonderful!
I can still recall when my husband and I sang at a wedding for a young couple in our church and I heard my hubby tell this young groom "Boy, if you think you love her now, just wait about 10 years and you'll know you love her even more".
    Such things are cherished.
God Bless this day and many more to follow!!

Curtis is a keeper, just like my husband of 18 years (on July 4). He didn't even get mad when I swept out the garage using the soft bristled brush he uses to wash the car. (Well, it looked like a broom to me!). He just went out and bought another car-wash brush. And I didn't get mad when he barbequed the side of the house with his new grill. Aahhh…this is the stuff of marriage.
    Blessings on your anniversary!

How sweet is that?! Print it and frame it. My husband and I have our 15th anniversary in October and I have similar notes from him. I treasure these. I still have one he wrote while we were dating that he hid in my car for me to find. 🙂 Happy Anniversary!

Guys this is the greatest complement a husband can give a wife…to not only feel this way but to further express this kind of love and adoration and not just to her but in front of all her female friends.

Amanda, hunny, you're truly blessed with a keeper. I pray i follow God and He leads me as He has so faithfully you…to the right one He has created for me and I for he.

    Congratulations!

My hubby and I I just celebrated 15. The first years are the real test of your true love for each other especially when you have only a few pennies in your pocket (so to speak). We spent the first 4 months living in a tent on the east coast. I figure if we made it through those sunny and sometimes "stormy" days and nights where we could've really gotten zapped by lightning season, we can face other storms in life (which we have had our share of) especially now that we are truly walking this journey of life with the Lord.

When you put Him in the equation of your marriage, 1 year or 50 years together is worth it all!

    GOD BLESS!
