Good Monday morning, my dear Siestas!
Thank you for praying for all of us at Living Proof Live in Stockton, California! God gave us a fresh revelation of His Son this weekend (out of Revelation, as a matter of fact) and what more could we possibly ask except for the courage to act on it? For any of you who were there, thank you so much for allowing us the privilege of being your servants. I’ve thought about you constantly since I got home. I loved seeing the myriad of you at In-n-Out. I wouldn’t leave California without an In-n-Out cheeseburger if my life depended on it.
There are certain songs I play and sing when I’m especially aware of Christ as the ultimate, uncontested love of my life OR if I’m especially in need of remembering. This is one of them. I have no idea how many times I’ve played it and Mark Schultz has no idea how many times I’ve sung back up for him. Not that he’d want to hire me and take me on the road or anything. But if he did, I’d walk one thousand miles, one thousand miles it’s true, if he were heading straight to Jesus.
I would walk 1,000 miles
1,000 miles it’s true
I would walk 1,000 miles
Just to be with You
You’ve got this promise too
I would walk 1,000 miles
Just to be with You
If I could live 100 years
Before my life is through
If I could live 100 years
I’d spend them loving You
You’ve got this promise too
If I could live 100 years
I’d spend them loving You
If I could write 10,000 songs
10,000 songs it’s true
If I Could write 10,000 songs
I’d Sing them all for you
You’ve got this promise too
If I could write 10,000 songs
I’d Sing them all for you
(Mark Schultz, 1000 Miles)
SO, Siestas, what song reminds you personally that Jesus is the love of your life? I wish we had room for all the lyrics but here’s what I’ll request instead: the name of the song, the artist and the one line that especially gets to you.
Let’s build each other up in the Spirit this Monday morning. Jesus is so worthy.
I love you, Siestas!
OK, this is not my absolute favorite worship song but it does have meaning to me these days… My son has been taking piano lessons for two short months and he is learning "Shout to the Lord". He had his last piano lesson after VBS in our church sanctuary and I brought our video camera because I just thought it was so moving to hear him play a worship song on stage at our church. He is 11 years old. There is one line that always chokes me up a bit, just because of the power of the awesome God we serve…
"Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your Name."
It's a classic… and one of the first worship songs I sang with all my heart after accepting Jesus as my Savior when my son was an infant. Now hearing the notes come from his fingertips is just icing on the cake. We love Jesus!
Blessings over your week, Siestas!
Oh that song is just beautiful
Sweetly Broken, Jeremy Riddle:
At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken,
wholly surrendered
What a priceless gift, undeserved life
Have I been given
Through Christ crucified
You’ve called me out of death
You’ve called me into life
And I was under Your wrath
Now through the cross I’m reconciled
"My Beloved" by Kari Jobe!
The song is written to be God's words to us and it starts like this: "You're my beloved you're my bride. To sing over you is my delight". It is just so beautiful and I love to know that when God Himself looks at me that He is saying those words to me.
Newsboys – Presence
"Come, oh Lord, and fill up my life
With the light of Your presence
This is my heart's desire."
"…I wanna feel your presence…"
(Boy do I EVER!!!) I just like all the lyrics in it.

Oh Beth….I adore music!!! It takes me to the throne. One of my favorite songs right now is:
"Free to be Me" by Francesca Battistelli
"Got a couple dents in my fender, got a couple of rips in my jeans, try to fit the pieces together but perfection is my enemy. On my own I'm so clumsy but on your shoulders I can see ,….I'm free to be me."
Royana
"Beloved" by Tenth Avenue North, specifically these lyrics:
You're my beloved
Lover I'm yours
Death shall not part us
It's you I died for
The song is a cry from the Lord for us to recognize Him as our one Beloved.

"Light of That City" by Allen Asbury.
On that day we will sing "holy, holy"
On that day we'll bow down in the light
And then we'll rise and turn our eyes
To the Lord, Jesus Christ
On that day we will sing "holy, holy, holy, holy"
On that day we'll bow down in the light,
And then we'll rise and turn our eyes,
To the Lord, Jesus Christ
He's the light of that City.
Can you imagine our eyes seeing Jesus in that city! It's such a powerful song. I encourage anyone to listen to it.

"Jesus Saves"
-Travis Cottrell
Freedom's calling, chains are falling, hope is dawning bright and true.
Day is breaking, night is quaking, God is making all things new.
"Jesus saves!"
~Life with Christ is Freedom! Our God truly rocks! 🙂

how circumstances possibly
could change
who I forever am in you…"

"All that I Am"

all that I hold so dear to me, is in your hands your loving grace extended to this lower place I call my heart on this earth."
I don't know the title..but it's by Jeremy Camp and goes:
"The only thing worth holding onto is holding onto me…"

Lord of Lords by Hillsong United
"Now unto the Lamb

Mercy Seat by Vicki Yohe
I'm runnin' I'm runnin'

Where Jesus is callin' he said
His grace would cover me
His blood will flow freely
It will provide the healin'

I'm runnin; to the mercy seat.
Grace Like Rain, Todd Agnew
Heard it in a new way after I surrendered to Christ.
"Hallelujah grace like rain falls down on me, Hallelujah and ALL my stains are washed away, they're washed away!"
In truth I listened to this on the way home from an LPL event in Spokane, WA. May 7, 2005!
Beth, in regards to a previous post of the woman whom you gave a NIV Life Application Bible to mark up, I have the same Bible with all sorts of marks and notes in it! I read it everyday:) Thank you so much for the gift that it is!

I Can Only Imagine
"Will I dance for you, Jesus, or in awe of you be still?"
( This song stops me in my tracks wherever I am and I don't care who hears me sing! I get goosebumps just trying to imagine how it will really be. I just had a dear elderly friend pass away, and I imagined him dancing away when he saw Jesus 🙂
Always Forever by Phil Wickham.
"You are the love I need. You are the air I breath. You are my love, my life. Always, forever." Every time I hear it, I fall in love with Him all over again.
Peace, be still
Lay all your worries down
Be still, oh my soul
For our God, is in control
And if God is for us
Then whom shall I fear
And our God is for us
So lay down, be still
Peace by Sherri Youngward
Psalm 46:10
Travis Cottrell's "In Christ Alone" with "Solid Rock". How thankful I am that He is the Solid Rock "My soul finds rest in God alone. My salvation comes from Him. He alone is my Rock and my salvation. He is my fortress. I will never be shaken." (Psa 62:1,2)
I have 2 songs I can't sing through without crying. I don't know who sings them I found both on a Vineyard CD Yet I will Praise is one and
He Carries All My Sorrow is the other song.It has 4 lines sometimes I just play it on my guitar.
He Carries all my sorrow
With His blood He cleanses me from shame
He alone brings light into my darkness
He’s the LORD of all And Jesus is His Name
I was at the Stockton conference this last weekend and the Lord definitely spoke. I haven't had a fresh word in awhile and it was so amazing to feel Him speak again. Thank you so much Beth for being a willing instrument!
My Help – many versions, but if I could find the Travis version that you used in Stepping Up I would be ecstatic!
My help comes from the Lord.
Divine Romance by Phil Wickam
There are so many but I love this song
"The Power of the Cross"
by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

Bethany, OK
"The Revelation Song" and "Worthy Is The Lamb". I like hearing them together, so on my myspace playlist they are back to back.
Shout to the Lord by Chris Tomlin
Over and over it reminds me that Jesus is MY savior, My comfort, MY peace…He is that close and concerned about what is happening in my little world. And I know I'm His.
"Captivated" by Vicky Beeching
Beholding is becoming, so as You fill my gaze,
I become more like You, and my heart is changed.
Beholding is becoming, so, as You fill my view,
Transform me into the likeness of You.
This is what I ask for all of my days,
That I may never look away, never look away.
Captivated by You
I am captivated by You.
May my life me one unbroken gaze,
Fixed upon the beauty of Your face.
Your Love Is Extravagant –
Casting Crowns
"I feel I'm moving to the rhythm of Your grace, Your fragrance is intoxicating in the secret place,
Cause Your love is extravagant."
I'm learning that Jesus' love for me is not a theological, distant thing. It's near, real–He's teaching me to move "to the rythm of His grace"–oh, it's good!
I have two:
Nichole Nordeman's "I AM" – the entire song speaks to me, but especially the last verse;
and Cindy Morgan's "I Will Be Free":
"Already I'm weary
But I have so far to go
Sorrow holds my hand
and suffering sings me songs
But when I close my eyes
I know to whom I belong
Who makes me strong
I will be free
I will be free to run the mountains
I will be free
Free to drink from the living fountain
Oh I'll never turn back
'Cause he waits for me…
I'll dance on silver moonlight
and I'll walk thru velvet fields
And I'll run into the arms
The arms that set me free"
WOW this is so fun to read everyone's faves! SOOOO many great songs! We are so blessed to have this gift of music. I haven't seen anyone mention Travis Cottrell's song "Sweeter". It just always puts me in the right frame of mind–
"Every day with you , Lord, is sweeter than the day before…every morning I will worship, every evening I'll adore, 'cause every day with you is sweeter–sweeter than the day before."
Also, Bryan Duncan's "When I turn to you" is a masterpiece–
"I no longer look for a place to hide, 'cause I know where I belong"
BTW–Stockton was SO GOOD! Thanks to everyone involved!
MIGHTY TO SAVE by Hillsongs
"Savior…HE can move the mountains – My God is mighty to save, He IS mighty to save"
This was tough, God ministers so much through music. Travis Cottrell's version of "In Christ Alone with Solid Rock" is one but on that same CD is the Song "My Passion". "You alone are my passion forever soug of my soul desire of my heart…You alone are reason for living Jesus my passion is You Jesus my passion is you…" Then in Travis' annionted voice he sings out "My life my love my God…" Chills and tears and I can't wait too see Jesus in heaven. Thanks for the post. We love you too! In Jesus' Love Kathy Knoblock
Okay, sorry I'm not really big on today's contemporary Christian music. I am a classic hymn girl AND a totally 80's pop girl (okay…plus Amy Grant). For years now, my thing is that I love to find music I enjoy and focus on the words Jesus is saying to me or I to Him. Try it – it's great fun!
So with that said:
"Lean On Me" by Club Nouveau
"Lean on me when you're not strong and I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on."
~Lynnette in Houston
Indescribable by Chris Tomplin
"You see the depths of my heart and you love me the same. You are amazing God!"
Run Hard After You by Passion
Give me one pure and holy passion
Give me one magnificent obsession
Give me one glorious ambition for my life
To know and follow hard after you
To know and follow hard after you
To grow as your disciple in the truth
This world is empty, pale, and poor
Compared to knowing you my Lord
Lead me on and I will run after you
"YOU CHANGED MY NAME" by Travis Cottrell
"You took my shame and wrote a new beginning to the story I was living and I'll never be the same. You saw what I could be and reaching down for me…You changed my Name."
Leann from Alabama
"You Are On Our Side"
Bethany Dillon
You sit at the table with the wounded and the poor
You laugh and share stories with the thief and the whore
When you could just be silent and leave us here to die
Still, you sent your Son for us
You are on our side
I love "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" by any artist.
"How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure!"
I wish I could write the whole song up here! I love the entire thing and it brings me to tears everytime I hear/sing it!!
"Your Name" by Paul Baloche. Don't know if he wrote it but it's on the CD "A Greater Song" with Kathryn Scott singing with him on it. 🙂
You Never Let Go – Matt Redman
The whole song speaks to my soul, but the chorus sums it all up:
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
Tammy, Indianapolis
The Valley Song by Jars of Clay…"When death, like a gypsy, comes to steal what I love. I will still look to the heavens, I will still sing your praise." after I lost our third child in an ectopic pregnancy I kept this song on repeat for weeks. It ministered to be all day, every day!
I Will Rise – Chris Tomlin – I will rise on eagle's wings before my God fall on my knees and rise.
All I Can Say by David Crowder Band. The part that really gets to me is the bridge:
I didn't notice You were standing here
I didn't know that
That was You holding me
I didn't notice You were cry'n too
I didn't know that
That was You washing my feet
Jesus Saves
Travis Cottrell
Oh to grace, how great a debtor! "Jesus saves. Jesus saves."
All the saints who shout together. "I know that Jesus saves."
Rising us so vast and strong lifting up salvation's song,
The redeemed will sing forever, the redeemed will sing forever, the redeemed will sing forever, "Jesus saves."
"Jesus saves."
Boomin' – tobyMac
I've been around the way
I've been around the block
I got the keys to the city if the gates are locked
And a freak like me ain't bout to stop
I got a hand full of dreams and a heart full of God
[And the line that always makes me think of you, Beth:
Boomin' out the stereo system
Here to rep the most high with this one]
And I got to hear this song LIVE Sunday night!
