G.P. Are You With Me?

We’ve been asked a few times lately what in the world G.P. means. (Beth says it in the Esther videos.) G.P. stands for God’s Property, which is from Kirk Franklin’s song “Stomp.” It’s an LPM favorite. God’s Property is actually the name of the choir that partnered with him on that song. This is not great quality, but here’s the video for you. Enjoy!

Glory, glory!

Whoooooooooooo!!! Sitting at my desk listening to that song I could hardly sit still. I’m proud to be a GP. One of the “hip” young girls at our table knew what Beth meant by GP. She enlightened us all. Love the Esther study!!

So glad you posted about this! We all thought it was “God’s People”!

We LOVED Esther! It had been almost a year since I had been able to do one of Beth’s bible studies, so the minute she came on screen, I thought “ah, there’s my friend Beth – I missed her!” lol

I do have to tell you though, that I was on the edge of my seat for 3 sessions waiting for Beth to turn those crazy chiastic structure sticks on their side (make an X to a T) to show that our destinies are always hinged on the CROSS!

Well, anyway! God bless you all for your faithful ministry! He definitely has used it to bless ME ABUNDANTLY!!!

    Love, your sister,
    laura h.

Wow…. this song took me back to a moment like what Beth described, rockin’ out to KF on the way to school with a car full of girlfriends acting like we had an ounce of rythmn!Key word…acting. We loved this song! I don’t think we truly understood the GP part as much as we do now. And Rachel, I know the “Shoop” song you are talking about!! She has come A LONG WAY!!

We were wondering…we figured it was something with God or Girl.

We just finished up the Esther study…it was wonderful! I never walk away from your studies that I don’t learn so much…I can’t spell it…but I know what that X thing is!

I’m so blessed to have been the leader of our group for the study on John and Esther. We take short breaks and do small studies between your studies…but my ladies are raring to go again in about a month.

I love this! I saw John Tesh and his hip hop group a few months ago on Christian TV and realized what my calling is. I am to be a hip hop dancer for the Lord. By the way, I am a 46, overweight, white, homeschooling mother of 4. I was raised to love choral music and hymns (which I still love) but man this music is so much fun. Thank you for sharing.

One of my favorites of all time! I can’t listen to it without dancing! Salt (the young lady rapping) has moved on and I think Kirk was able to help with that. If you don’t have his CD “Hero”, get it..

So glad you wrote about this. I just finished facilitating the Esther study. First, let me say that the study was excellent. When I previewed that particular session, Beth kept saying, “GP, are you with me?” I thought I missed the explanation, but when the group viewed it, everyone was asking, “Who is GP?” One of our hip sisters knew exactly what it was and explained, so I purchased Kirk Franklin’s CD and played it for the group the next week. Very interesting to see the varied expressions on the faces of the ladies. I actually have it on my iPod now – great dancing and power walking music!!!

Oh we were so close! The ladies in my study (I was facilitating) were trying to guess and we said “God’s People”!! LOVE it!!
I’m gonna go email them all right now! We just had our last session of Esther yesterday and I’m still recovering from our Purim celebration – in fact we decided to party til Easter!! WOOHOOOO!!

I've heard this song a million times, but not since I've done the Esther study… How cool is it that the song says "…TURN MY LIFE AROUND!" Wow.

I've got a cool story about the "GP" thing… A friend of mine did the Esther study, but was 2 weeks ahead of me. We were talking one day about "belonging to Him" and being His people & she told me about Beth saying "GP" several times in the video. That same day (Feb 26th), I was seeking the Lord about the verse He wanted me to memorize next. I was drawn to Psalm 112:7-8, so I was looking it up in different versions. I picked up the "Becoming 2" magazine (NT in NCV) wondering if Psalms was in there… It wasn't. But while flipping pages, my eyes landed on the February calendar, so I stopped to see what the "suggestion" was for that day… Feb 26th. It simply said "Memorize Ephesians 2:19." Well, here's what Eph 2:19 says in the New Century Version… "Now you who are not Jewish, are not foreigners or strangers any longer, but are citizens together with God's holy people. You belong to God's family." He thrills me!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just thought you should know that my sister (actual sister) and I have “car danced” to this song since high school. I love this album and have had it forever. And just so you know, I get the rap part every time… =)

I loved the final night of last year’s Breaking Free Tuesday night Bible Study when we all got down to this song. It was like one of the wonderful moments when God lets you know that you are EXACTLY where you are supposed to be!

The first time I ever heard Stomp was when a boy sang it in a church we attended years ago between ministry assignments. I was proud this kid who was a new believer was willing to jump up and sing. However, most of the congregation looked like the roof of the church may just fall in on our heads for such sacrilege. It was pretty much hysterical. lol

I am with you guys on some good moving music! I listen to it all when I am cleaning around the house.

Though, I do have a car story too. I do crank up the music and sing & dance in the car alone or with the boys. My youngest loves to get moving (always puts him back in a good mood) but my oldest is a little more reserved than us. It takes him awhile to get the rhythm going. Well, one day we all were in the car having a grand party together. We got to the store and as we were walking in a lady said to us "I saw you guys dancing in the car. Are you their mother?" I wasn't sure to laugh or gasp but I stated that "yes, I was and we have fun together" Her response to that was "Oh, neat" (her word not mine). Can mothers not dance with their boys? I do think that my 11 yr was embarrassed that he got 'caught'. I didn't tell him that everyone sees us through the windows-HaHa. You and Sabrina just keep right on dancing!

I knew what it was the moment she said it on the Esther video, but you should have heard the whole seminar room as women all across the seats kept wispering, “What is that?” All I could do was smile and nod. Thanks, Beth and Co. for once again astounding us with your devotion to His Word and making it a pleasant offering that we participate in! Love y’all to pieces and back together again!

“God’s Property” makes more sense! My husband started a new job as a prison gaurd in December and would come home and tell me all about his day using the new acronyms or initials for all the different wings of the prison, and one he used commonly was GP. In January I stared Beth’s Esther study and she was all about GP!! I thought,”Well, that’s wierd! Calling us GENERAL POPULATION!” LOL! I thought for sure she’d probably visited a prison!

THANK YOU for telling what that means! My daughter, Bri and I just finished Esther and thought that we were missing something. (Even though Bri is homeschooled, her biggest fear is that she will LOOK “homeschooled”!) So when you said GP and she didn’t know what it meant she was afraid that it was a common abbreviation used by cool people and the fact that she didn’t know what it was was driving her crazy!
Also, since we used the audio CDs we missed out on any pictures you showed that people who either were there or who watch the DVDs can see. Is there any way you can post the pictures that you show? I’m thinking specifically about the one of you when you were in elementary school. I always do your studies with the CDs and am always so disappointed when you show a picture and I can’t see it!

Yep, I am one of those siestas inquiring about “GP”. I told my
Beth Moore “groupie sisters” that I was just going to email and ask. Well, I got the “Testy” look if you know what I mean. I can’t possibly wait until Bible Study on Monday to tell all my sisters that so many others were wondering, too. I’ll have to email them right away. So, here I am, and being the professional that I am, I had no choice but to crank-up the video and should I say “move”. Hey girlfriends, it is sure going to hurt in the morning but at least this grandma didn’t break anything even though the spins weren’t what the use to be and just forget those splits!!! Blessings to all.

    Amanda,

Not sure if you can post this…but here it is for those wanting to learn the lyrics along with LPM

    KIRK FRANKLIN LYRICS

    “Stomp!”
[Kirk]: For those of you that think gospel music has gone to far.
You think we got too radical with our message.
Well I got news for you , you ain’t heard nothin yet,
and if you don’t know now you know. Glory, Glory!!

[Part1:] Lately I’ve been going through some things that really got me down.
I need someone somebody to help me come and turn my life around.
I can’t explain, I can’t obtain it. Jesus your love is so, it’s so amazing.
It gets me high up to the sky, and when I think about your goodness it makes me wanna stomp.
Makes me clap my hands. Makes me wanna dance and stomp.
My brother can’t you see I got the victory. STOMP!!!

    [repeat part 1 ]

[Salt [rap]]: When I think about the goodness and fullness of God,
makes me thankful pity the hateful I’m grateful.
The Lord brought me through this far,
trying to be cute when I praise him raise him high.
I keep the live beat bumping. Keep it jumping make the Lord feel something.
Ain’t no shame in my game God’s Property. Kickin’ it wit Kirk ain’t no stoppin’ me.
    UH stomp

[Kirk:] GP are you wit me?
[GP:] oh yeah we having church we ain’t going nowhere.
    [repeat 3 times ]

[pt2:] stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp

I promise the stomp, the whole stomp, nothin but the stomp

[Kirk:] It ain’t over. It ain’t over

    [repeat part 2 until fades.]
