Catching You Up in Pictures

Hi Siestas! I’ve been trying to come up with a great post about our first week with Annabeth, but I can’t seem to be in the right frame of mind to do it when I get a window of opportunity. I am so happy but sleepy and busy! So far, our adjustment has been a lot easier than it was when we had Jackson. It helps so much to have even the smallest clue what I’m doing this time. (Jackson’s diaper was the first I ever changed, if you can believe that.) Also, knowing that these sleepless nights really do end has done a lot for my attitude about sleeplessness. I find myself wanting to keep rocking my baby even after she falls asleep in my arms at night. I would give anything to go back and rock Jackson at this size one more time!

I know this post won’t address some of the questions I’ve been seeing about Annabeth’s name, how Jackson is doing, etc., but I plan on getting to those things soon. Thanks for all your sweet words over the last week. We love you girls!

This is Jackson at just a few hours old. My boy will turn three next Tuesday.

And here’s his little sister at just a few hours old.

Annabeth meeting her namesake for the first time.

Two grandmas trying to get a peek at their baby.

My mom and my sweet mother-in-law enjoying their first granddaughter.

This was right before we left the hospital.

You can see her going home outfit better here. I got that in the fall at Janie and Jack. It’s preemie size but still swallowed her. She had a matching hat and shoes, but they were enormous!

Here is Jackson holding Annabeth for the first time. He was so excited. We delayed this moment for quite a while just in case he was going to come down with that stomach bug. Unfortunately, he did get sick last night. At this point it seems to be a less evil strain of the virus than what my dad and sister had, for which I’m very thankful.

Here is a perfect picture of my son’s gorgeous eyelashes. I’m not ashamed to say I prayed for my daughter to be blessed with them. So far her eyelashes are blond. Her hair is light brown right now if you can’t quite tell.

Annabeth hanging out on her daddy.

The princess, all fresh and clean (and mad) after her first sponge bath at home.

Curt and Jackson went to church last night and my mom came over to keep us girls company. She brought Annabeth some preemie outfits so she would have something that fits for the next couple of weeks. They’re so sweet!

Look at those sweet little lips.

Leave it to me to show you a picture of baked goods. These are my favorite cookies in Houston. They’re from an Italian cafe’ called Paulie’s. Aren’t they beautiful? My co-workers brought us these, along with brownies and a feast of fajitas on the day we came home from the hospital.

Here’s the amazing cake we had at my LPM baby lunch. It was from Cake Affairs.

She is SO beautiful. My heart just melted at the sight of Jackson holding his baby sister. PRECIOUS! So happy to hear you’re adjusting well and that things are progressing smoothly. I love that even in the midst of sleep deprivation and new, hectic schedules, you are savoring that sweet little angel. Thank you for sharing these special days with us!

My GOODNESS you have precious babies! :o) I miss those early days…my only is going to be NINE next month!

I have not shared this prayer request before, but I am JUST starting to ask for prayer from friends and family…my hubby and I have been battling infertility and we have no infertility coverage on our insurance – therefore we also don’t the funds to go through the expensive tests and treatments. Please lift us up to break this 8-year struggle with infertility – I long for another child to love and teach (like my amazing son) the ways of our loving Father. Thank you all so much!

I can’t WAIT to see MORE pics of your precious little angels on earth!

Amanda, you said how you wished you could rock Jackson one more time. There is a book that was written by Karen Kingsbury, and it is about not knowing when the last time is that we will experience those moments with our children.. we document all the first, but we don’t know when that will be the last late night to rock our son to sleep, or cuddle with him in the early morning hours before he sleeps all night long, or the last dandelion that he picks for you. anyway its a great book for moms. i just gave it to my 25 year old son for Christmas so he might have a small glimpse into the world of mommies loving their babies so much !!! your new daughter is precious. enjoy this wonderful time. God bless. thanks for the update.

    Amanda,
She is absolutely beautiful and beyond that, so blessed to be the daughter of Curt and Amanda Jones! She will grow so fast so enjoy these precious moments! I, too, have a little boy (about to be 3 in May) and another little boy who turned "1" the middle of January! As they say, "One is like none and two is like ten" and I believe that because I have been so busy this last year!

Anyway, congrats on a beautiful and precious baby "Annabeth". I know you & Curtis are proud!

    Many Blessings,
    Gena

The pictures are awesome – I was fortunate to be at one of your mothers LPM events right after Jackson was born and I remember thinking I don’t think I have ever seen a grandmother glow the way that Beth did when showing off pictures of Jackson. After seeing these pictures, it’s obvious she is just a glowing grandma all the time! You all are so precious, I am praying for Jackson to get well quickly.

Congrats on your precious addition. I have a 3 yr old son and a new baby girl…. almost same ages as yours. If Jackson is like my son, it took him about 6-7 weeks to “uh-hem”…..”forget” there was every a life without a sibling ๐Ÿ™‚ So glad you are enjoying all of those little moments.

Absolutely adorable pictures – thank you so much for sharing them!

One quick question, though…who is that blonde woman that looks like Beth? For a second, I thought it truly was our Siesta Mama; however, I’ve never seen her hair that flat!

Seriously, you all look wonderful but I just watched the first session from Living Beyond Yourself so I had to throw out the hair comment ๐Ÿ™‚

Babies are so amazing! I’ve always felt like the day they are born they are taken from God’s hands and put in ours. I had my last two 11 and a half months apart. TOO Close! By the time my daughter started really sleeping good and through the night her brother was born. We were so tired we were walking into walls! I remember our first goal was for them to just get old enough to get up and get their own breakfast!!

    Love you all!

One: Amanda, you look wonderful! Healthy and happy!
Two: (and I know the word ‘precious’ could be reduntant here) PRECIOUS! She is just that…
Three: Beth you are absolutely tiny! I’ve never seen you in person but you are so little! You look awfully blessed holding that little one!
    You’re right, time does fly…
I used to have this poem hanging in the hallway outside my kids’ rooms when they were small
    “With the children asleep
    And crying now past
Know though the days are long
    The years go fast.”

    Blessings….(and a good night’s sleep)

    precious pictures, Amanda!

I love the one of Jackson holding her too. We let Jordan feed Emily her first bottle when that time came (I think she was 4 months old)… that is a precious picture to have also.

You’ll feel that same proud feeling one day when he wants to have a talk with the little boy in her kindergarten class who’s being mean to her. ๐Ÿ™‚

Big brothers are priceless. I’m the oldest of 2 girls and always longed for an older brother. Annabeth’s a blessed little girl!

Precious, precious pictures. I laughed when I read about your prayers for long eyelashes…I did the SAME THING for my daughter! My sons were born with beautifully long lashes, and I prayed my baby girl would be blessed with them, too! It took a little while for them to grow (she was also a small squirt at 5 lbs 4 oz) but they finally did! Now you could land a plane on them! ๐Ÿ™‚
