Catching You Up in Pictures

Hi Siestas! I’ve been trying to come up with a great post about our first week with Annabeth, but I can’t seem to be in the right frame of mind to do it when I get a window of opportunity. I am so happy but sleepy and busy! So far, our adjustment has been a lot easier than it was when we had Jackson. It helps so much to have even the smallest clue what I’m doing this time. (Jackson’s diaper was the first I ever changed, if you can believe that.) Also, knowing that these sleepless nights really do end has done a lot for my attitude about sleeplessness. I find myself wanting to keep rocking my baby even after she falls asleep in my arms at night. I would give anything to go back and rock Jackson at this size one more time!

I know this post won’t address some of the questions I’ve been seeing about Annabeth’s name, how Jackson is doing, etc., but I plan on getting to those things soon. Thanks for all your sweet words over the last week. We love you girls!

This is Jackson at just a few hours old. My boy will turn three next Tuesday.

And here’s his little sister at just a few hours old.

Annabeth meeting her namesake for the first time.

Two grandmas trying to get a peek at their baby.

My mom and my sweet mother-in-law enjoying their first granddaughter.

This was right before we left the hospital.

You can see her going home outfit better here. I got that in the fall at Janie and Jack. It’s preemie size but still swallowed her. She had a matching hat and shoes, but they were enormous!

Here is Jackson holding Annabeth for the first time. He was so excited. We delayed this moment for quite a while just in case he was going to come down with that stomach bug. Unfortunately, he did get sick last night. At this point it seems to be a less evil strain of the virus than what my dad and sister had, for which I’m very thankful.

Here is a perfect picture of my son’s gorgeous eyelashes. I’m not ashamed to say I prayed for my daughter to be blessed with them. So far her eyelashes are blond. Her hair is light brown right now if you can’t quite tell.

Annabeth hanging out on her daddy.

The princess, all fresh and clean (and mad) after her first sponge bath at home.

Curt and Jackson went to church last night and my mom came over to keep us girls company. She brought Annabeth some preemie outfits so she would have something that fits for the next couple of weeks. They’re so sweet!

Look at those sweet little lips.

Leave it to me to show you a picture of baked goods. These are my favorite cookies in Houston. They’re from an Italian cafe’ called Paulie’s. Aren’t they beautiful? My co-workers brought us these, along with brownies and a feast of fajitas on the day we came home from the hospital.

Here’s the amazing cake we had at my LPM baby lunch. It was from Cake Affairs.

I couldn’t be happier about that little gal if she were my own.

    Grandbaby, that is.

After my girls are married, of course.

Well, okay – maybe I’ll just be darn happy for YOU and leave it at that. :o)

Amanda! You amaze me! Your beautiful daughter is only a week old, you are recovering from giving birth and not getting much sleep, yet you take the time to share such special pictures with all of us Siestas! We sure do love you!

I absolutely love the outfit you picked out to have her go home in. So cute! And I love her new preemie outfits from your Mom. My twins were born at 34 weeks and we had the most luck at WalMart finding cute preemie stuff. So if you need more, I’d head there:)

So happy for you! Glad that you are enjoying the snuggle time- Praying for Jackson to feel better soon!

    Love,
    Tara

    Amanda,
You have such a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. I am expecting my first grandchild in June. Her name will be Elizabeth Grace. I am the mom of 2 boys so to have a girl will be a wonderful treat!! I can hardly wait to get my hands on her.

Thanks for sharing! My favorite pics are of the two Grandmas holding “their baby” and Jackson with such a big smile on his face holding his little sister.

My own girls are 16 and 18 (sigh) and I still get some of their special baby outfits and baby books out on their birthdays. My oldest daughter was a 6 lb. baby, I remember how tiny she was. Now at 5’2″ and 97 pounds she still seems like a “little peanut” to me. Her younger sister loves to introduce herself as the older sister because she is taller :o)

    Have a great day!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

    My favorite parts:

    1. The two Grandma’s sneaking a peek at her through the window all the while above Beth’s head it reads: “While we can relate to your excitement…have they met your mom!?

and 2. When Bibby is holding her in one of the preemie outfits she bought her, Annabeth’s facial expression; is it me or does she resemble her Bibby when teaching bible study.
“Is somebody going there with me?”

Blessings fun family, what a joy.
Jackson looks so happy and proud.

May God bless you all richly,

Um, yeah, it’s pretty evident that Jackson and Annabeth are brother and sister. AND COULD HE BE ANY SWEETER HOLDING THAT BABY? Lawsie.

My oldest was born at 41 weeks and 3 days. Yes, I was ready to have her outside my body. Even though she was late, she also wore preemie clothes for a while. They are so precious and so tiny and she’ll outgrow them quickly, so hang on to them.

Thank you for sharing Annabeth with us. It’ll be fun to watch our little Siesta grow up just like we have been watching The Mister grow up!

IS it just me or do Annabeth and Jackson look so very similar in the “few hours old” photos???

She is absolutely darling, and I love the second photo of Jackson holding her. That’s a photo you will treasure.

I told my hubby that Beth had her first granddaughter, and honest to goodness, it made him get teary-eyed… ssshh don’t tell him I told you!

Baby girls are such a blessing

What a beautiful blessing Annabeth is! She looks so much like Jackson’s baby picture. Yes,nights of little sleep will end. That’s got to be one of the hardest things about having a newborn (my second is 7 months old), but isn’t it amazing how God gives us the grace to endure and not be too crabby about it.

She is just precious!! Makes me want to have another right this minute! You have the perfect order too! Big brother, little sister!! That’s how mine are and he seems like he’s going to be protective of her ๐Ÿ™‚ Isn’t it so much easier the second time with some perspective? Knowing how quickly it ends makes the sleepless nights so much more bearable – even enjoyable! What a joyful, blessed time!

What a joy to have you sharing these beautiful pictures of your lives with all we "Siesta's." Thank you Amanda for all the effort it takes with a newborn, to think of us and bless us with these shots. I'm singing "Glory to God in the highest…." Your beautiful little angels are so sweet, you just want to eat them up! (Speaking of eating – what glorious cookies and amazing cake to celebrate the birth of Annabeth!) Starbucks, anyone? (Just to go with the cake and cookies?) LOL! Dear Beth, you look amazing holding your precious own little pink princess! She's a beauty, like her Bibby! So thrilled for you all….
