A New President

My Dear Siestas, I can’t think of anything more appropriate and more Biblical than reserving this day on our blog for heart-felt prayers for our new president and his family. You are welcome to write your genuine words of intercession as a comment to this post just as you’d lift them before the Throne of Grace for President and Mrs. Obama and their two precious daughters. Today it makes no difference how anyone voted. God in His sovereignty has appointed this day and our new president needs our prayers. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior.” 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

Lord, may President Obama humble himself daily before You, seeking Your guidance.
May he turn to Your word for wisdom, rather than the opinions of men.
Speak to his heart in a way which he will hear.
And in this uncertain time, remind us that You are never uncertain, and that You are forever on Your throne.
May You draw more and more people toward yourself, Father.
We humbly ask that You keep Your almighty hand upon this nation, and that you will protect this president.
    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Holy Father, You have ordained this day. After so much prayer, you have spoken and have chosen this man to lead our land. We commit to pray the Armor of God over this man: the helmet of salvation, the boots of peace, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, and the sword of the spirit. Enfold him in humility but with Your confidence. Amen

Help me, Lord, to have a better attitude about this. Because I’m so deeply sad and disappointed over so much I’m seeing and hearing today. Help those of us who are experiencing this to keep our eyes on You and not on man. For You are the God who Sees, and I praise Your Holy Name. You are worthy of praise, Lord! All glory and power and dominion belong to You. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

    Dearest Lord,

You are our King and High-ruler. Thank you for being Sovereign and for working in this world to turn our eyes to you. I lift up President Obama, his wife, and his girls to you. Lord, as this day marks the beginning of journey we take with them, I pray that you would be included today and each day. I ask that you would give President Obama reminders of you and that you would give he and his counselors wisdom.

I lift up his wife and ask that you would speak to her and equip her to stand firm with her husband. I ask that you would strengthen their marriage and make it a testimony to you.

I also lift up his dear girls and ask that you would shelter them and fill their lives with love. May the family know peace and find shelter in you.

Father, may we uphold this family and seek you as a nation. Above all, may you be glorified by our choices.

    Lord,
I also pray for protection for our president and his precious family. I also pray that the transition of office will take place in a way that would honor You.
