My Dear Siestas, I can’t think of anything more appropriate and more Biblical than reserving this day on our blog for heart-felt prayers for our new president and his family. You are welcome to write your genuine words of intercession as a comment to this post just as you’d lift them before the Throne of Grace for President and Mrs. Obama and their two precious daughters. Today it makes no difference how anyone voted. God in His sovereignty has appointed this day and our new president needs our prayers. “This is good, and pleases God our Savior.” 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

Our prayer, today, Our Father, is for President Elect Barack Obama:
That You, the infinite font of wisdom, might grant him wisdom daily.
That You, the loving God of all, might grant him love for you and for others, including our enemies.
That You, the holy and righteous God of justice, might empower him to do what is right in all that he does.
That You, the Lord, might grant him the charisma of insight to lead in this turbulent world and time.
That You, the Healer, might grant him the grace of reconciling damaged relations in this country and in the world about us.

Lord God, may our newly elected President keep humility as his mantle before you. May he dedicate his life to you and live with an awareness of Your sovereignty every waking hour of his life. Father, I thank you for the promise that the leaders’ heart is in YOUR Hands. I pray that President Obama would have a personal and intimate and saving relationship with Jesus Christ alone. I know it is no coincidence that I was reading with my student today about the Civil War conflict and what our great President Lincoln did to bring unity to Your children. The Executive Branch = President who is allowed to appoint many officials ( including the Supreme Court justices) and decide a budget for the government's expenses & veto as well as decide on war.
The Legislative Branch, Congress=
made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate which makes laws.
The Judicial Branch,headed by the = Supreme Court, who decides if a federal law has been broken.
Let us upliftin prayer the Obama family and all of the men and women in our federal government.
Let us pray for President George W. and Mrs. Laura Bush for their 8 years of service and keeping our country safe from any terrorist attacks. May they cuddle up together and enjoy their retirement in Texas with family and future grandchildren!!!!
