Jackson and Bibby out in Bibby’s backyard throwing the red ball to Star who retrieves it and drops it at our feet no less than thirty times. Jackson keeps glancing at St. Francis statue in flower bed right beside us. Has no idea who the dude in the robe is. Bibby can tell his mental wheels are turning. He keeps throwing ball. Finally stops and stares at St. Francis, brow furrowed, giving the scene some deep thought. Obviously reflects back on the pictures in his Jesus Storybook Bible that Daddy reads him every night. Finally breaks silence:
“Bibby?”
“Yes, Baby?”
“Birds love Jesus.”
Killed me. I’m not letting anybody tell him that’s St. Francis out there. It’s Jesus from now on. After all, who else dresses like that? And, anyway, the birds love Him.
And speaking of birds, one of our most popular LPM staff members who is famous around here first of all for her prayer life but second of all for her hilarious, endearing malapropisms (as in, “I’m just saliva-tating for a work of the Spirit!”) and who will yet remain unnamed, was standing next to me yesterday after I dropped a beautiful glass statuette gift we’d just received on the marble floor in ten thousand pieces. Crestfallen, I said, “I’m such an idiot.” To which she said with all the love and emotion and encouragement in the world and in front of most of the staff, “You are most certainly not! You are blessed and highly feathered!”
Yes. Feathered.
Amanda posted this for me because I’m not good at downloading pictures but it’s from me. Your own Siesta Mama. Although Amanda is blessed and highly feathered, too.
Jackson with the St. Francis/The Birds Loving Jesus statue on Easter
How sweet. Birds love Jesus! Highly feathered, that cracked me up!
Love,
Patty
He appears more like a friendly Middle Earth looking wizard with a cute summer blue picnic table checkered robe on. It’s okay, Jackson, I would have guessed your Biddy was a fan of Gandolf.
Thanks for the laugh – and for the reminder that in some parts of the nation people are outside playing fetch with their dogs.
Warm (and inside) in Alaska.
Out of the mouth of babes……:)
Just so sweet.
A smile from the heart.
thank you for sharing such sweet moment.
To the lady whos daughter is addicted to percoset….I pray the our precious Lord gives you wisdom and the peace that passes understanding, and I stand in the gap and pray that he intervenes in this situation and delivers your daughter from that terrible stronghold and helps her break free in Jesus name! Sometimes these kind go not out except by fasting and prayer, the kind of prayer that has you literally on your face on the floor! Love you sister! I’ll be praying as He leads!
I LOVE IT!! How precious is that!!
Ahhh little boys says the best things.
St. Francis does look a lot like a Jesus… or Santa in the off season! But I agree, it should be the Jesus bird loving statue from now on.
Love you all,
Groovewoman♫
What else can we do for all of our sweet little ones, but pray that they receive Him young in life.
So-o because of Him,
JoAnne
Mustang, OK
Beth this is such a sweet story. I enjoyed it a lot. Also I am sorry about the broken statuette. I will have to remember the highly feathered comment.

This has nothing to do with this post (sorry) but I could not wait for another “pop quiz”. I just got a kick out of Isaiah 36 and 37 and I can’t help but tell anyone willing to listen.
Judah is being threatened by the enemy but God says:
“Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land. And I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.” (Isaiah 37:7)
Nothing like the enemy being defeated in his own land. Ha! Glory!
That is so cute!!!! That baby knows who the birds should love!!
Blessed and Highly Feathered….
hmmm…sorry.. call me slow…
…but I don’t get the highly feathered.. what was she implying? Ha! I’m so sorry.. I’m probably the only siesta who doesn’t get it.
That’s ok.. Jesus still loves me, even if I’m a little slow to catch on! *wink*wink* I love ya!
That is too cute; Jackson is such an adorable little boy!
God Bless! Charlotte – in Georgia
LOL! Highly feathered! That killed me.
Gotta love being blessed and feathered! He is a doll and I agree that birds do love Jesus.

I simply cannot walk away from this blog without first reaching out the the woman who found out about her daughter’s problem with addiction. Allow me, dear sister, to comfort you with the same comfort He has comforted me in my affliction (2 Cor.1:3,4). I too know your pain as my 19 year old son confessed several months ago he was addicted to meth and ecstasy.
You hold on to your child in Jesus, clinging to His promise that not one thing happens to His people that does not have good in its working. Though you may not see it immediately you must resolve yourself to walk by faith and not by sight and seek God continually and His supreme wisdom. Refuse to ever believe that He does not hear your prayers. And know that He is sensitive to your crying and that He holds your tears. Dear woman, He is the God of all comfort of Whom no-thing is impossible. Pray for breakthrough and believe your sweet girl is a part of His magnificient plan. Be encouraged, you now have a whole community of sisters joining you.
Because of Him,
ja
Oh so sweet! Jackson is just precious…and love the pretty backyard!
This is to Meghan whose husband was in a burning truck…Thank you Lord for giving this man the gift of continued life with his young wife and child….Meghan, I cannot imagine what you’ve been through but I pray that the Lord would use this experience to deepen your faith sister and that of your precious husband! Hold him tight and let him know just how much you love him because you never know which day will be the one that the Lord calls you home.
Oh I LOVE stories like this!!! There is just something that I find so exciting when little ones start putting all the pieces together! So neat…
Love all you highly feathered LPM Siesta’s…
steph.
Beth,
I hope you get this. Thought that you might enjoy this story. Four of us girls here in Birmingham, Alabama started your Esther study tonight. For reasons I’ll spare viewers in blogland we watched the introduction video together out in one of our vehicles in the church parking lot. In the middle of the video we nearly got arrested. I guess four girls stuffed in the back of a large SUV watching a video looks really suspicious! The policeman flashed his lights at us and asked us to step outside. When he saw that we all had bibles and Esther study books in hand he graciously let us go! Praise Jesus! Then just as we were coming to the end of the video, the car battery died and we watched you flash on and off the screen until the battery gushed out some backup juice and let us finish! Bible study is NEVER boring and so far Esther is a great adventure!!
We love you,
The 4 suspects
What a great story!! 🙂
Has anyone heard of the Jesus Storybook Bible? http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Storybook-Bible-Every-Whispers/dp/0310708257/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228359390&sr=8-1
I have read good and bad reviews, so I was wondering if anyone here has it. I am looking for a children's Bible I can buy as a Christmas gift for the kiddos I nanny. They are 2,4,6, and 8.
Thanks, ~Liz
Dear feathered Mama,
Thanks for sharing a precious moment! Don’t you love how children just bring you back to the foundation of things? Praying that you enjoy this season with your family. I am praying that the Lord blesses you with the gift of a female friend who just drops in your lap, related to nothing about ministry and everything about Jesus and having fun.
Have a great Christmas if I don’t blog before the wonderful day is over!
Love you much!
Jina
Beth and Amanda,
I would just like to say that Jackson is a child after your own — HAIR!! Look at the volume in that picture!! (He won’t even need root lifter!)
Precious story. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Love,
Missy
Beth – don’t you just absolutely LOVe being a Bibby? I am “Gran Jan” and it is the sweetest purest love ever.
That statue is whatever Jackson wants it to be by cracky! You better know it!!! And I can tell that “His eye is on those sparrows.”
I saw that the pictures were from this past Spring – is that candytuft blooming? I have it in my garden too – love it.
Well – gotta run. My friend asked me to make some more of that broccoli salad made with “Roman numerals” (Ramen noodles)…
I’ve always known you were highly feathered and I’m blessed to be in your “flock.”
A bird of a feather,
Georgia Jan
Out of the mouths of babes…..great story!!
How sweet!! Jackson is so adorable!
Blessed and highly featherd–I love it!!! Reminds me of the time that someone told me. “You are just full of the flava” (favor)
Gotta love those precious, precious moments!
You speak the truth, Jackson!
I also love his adorable, wavy hair! So, so stinkin’ cute!
Love,
Kristen
My three year old little girl said to me today, ” Mommy you are not a blessing you are a bird.” Let’s hear it for our feathered friends:)
Sounds like mighty good times indeed!
Blessed and feathered…love it!
There is something to be said for being “highly feathered”. Psalm 91:4.
Thanking God that you said the picture was from Easter and not yesterday. Considering it will only be 28 degrees this afternoon in Ohio.
You are all a blast!
Humbly His Child,
Kim
My daughter is the addict. Thank you for your prayers. I apologize for leaving my comment in the wrong place but am blessed by your kindnesses. Her name is Michelle – her husband is Jeff. Blessings, Ann
Mama Beth:
Your Jackson is just the cutest thing ever and Christmas with him this year will be a blast…
Jesus loves birds and why not let him believe it… You’ll never look at that statue the same way again! 🙂 …
Feathered.. I love the word. It fits in so many situations… And well birds of a Feather do flock together and we all flock to Jesus so it works. Praise Him!
Love you all,
Lichelle
Makes this mommas heart melt. So so precious!
Am I the only one seeing that beautiful head of hair on that sweet fellow??? Must get it from his mom and his Bibby! No offense to our Meista Curtis…
Blessings,
MMB
Oh, how sweet! I’m sure he is quite right that birds love Jesus.
Jackson is so cute. He has great hair too.
Hugs,
Mary
Am also praying for the Siesta with the daughter who’s addicted. We’ve gone through this with my older sister. Know that we are praying for you!
Jackson is the cutest thing ever! Out of the mouths of babes!! So love it. :o)
Dear Highly Feathered Mama,
From the words of the most wise Hannah Montana, “Everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days…” Accidents happen, and you are truly loved. ;o)
Too Funny!! Jackson comes by it naturally – such a sweet comment – and the birds do love Jesus!
If I can ask – where did you find such a beautiful statue of St. Francis??
I have the Jesus Storybook Bible also and can’t wait to read it to my grandkids (someday!)
BEBE
Beth, thank you for sharing that precious story!
The other day I said or did something (can’t remember now what it was) and I called myself that very thing… “Oh, I’m such an idiot!” Then, I heard the Lord reply, “Hey, don’t be calling my child names!”
Isn’t HE something?! I wished I could just hug Him right then and there! All I could do was grin and say, “Sorry.”
You just gotta love Him.
Anna in MO
So Precious…Such wonderful gifts from God! Memories that just maybe the one thing that can get us through a dark time in of life!
Please pray for me.. as many others, I am going through one of the hardest times I have ever gone through. I just don’t want to loose hope!
Love and hugs to all my wonderful sisters in Jesus Christ! jan
What a tender, lovely story… ah the faith of a child.
I was struck by the sunshine and green of your pics! It’s sunny but cold and bare in Indiana. The sleep of winter… or as I like to call it the long winter’s nap.
WOW, from the mouth of babes!!! Bibby I have to share this quick one with you, I have a four year old and come from a ‘very catholic’ family, well my four year old has been in Sunday school all his life! so we went to mom’s home and she had a very distint crucifix with Jesus ‘bleeding’ on her wall, well David very sterly said, “Mom, that is not the Jesus in my heart, the Jesus in my heart is happy and not bleeding!” Well there you have it, my mother felt the need to get rid of it! then he saw another picture of a “happy glowing Jesus” and David yells MOM, that’s the Jesus in my heart!!! I nearly died. . . but I was glad he knew who was in his heart!!
Too precious!
Forever His,
Lawan Rivera
Phil 4:8
Oh, my word, how cute is that?!? Birds do love Jesus!! And you are truly highly feathered!!
Love you to pieces–and your family and coworkers too!!!
Dana
I saw the picture before i read the post and i was thinking that must have been taken this summer, but after reading it, i am jealous that it is that warm there is Texas in December!!! and flowers too! love ya!
Now I feel silly for asking about the Jesus Storybook Bible. Someone already commented on it before I even asked the question! 🙂
I am cracking up Spiritual Mom Beth! Funny! Birds love Jesus:)…Nope, not an idiot, but Oh Yes! BLESSED and HIGHLY Feathered!:)
katiegfromtennessee
Im always jealous (in a good way) when I see your GREEN yard and your alyssum in DECEMBER for crying out loud. I’d be feathered too, Bethie!
Jan
Highly feathered! I love it! (I have to admit though, it took me a minute to figure out what she meant! ;))
Beth, My precious boy(21) lives with 5 roommates at NCState, they are raising chickens. One beautiful white little biddy is named Beth Moore and one black and white named Rosa Parks, I will post them on my blog. I love you dear friend,
Rebecca P.
This is actually one of the best St. Francis statues that I have seen!! I missed this one earlier. H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S!!!!!!!!!
Oh, that is so sweet! I haven’t been on here since before Thanksgiving. Just busy I guess. I started exercising again. I couldn’t stand what I was seeing in the mirror anymore, so decided to do something about it. But my sweet husband got me this laptop for Christmas. I’m sure he wishes he’d had a video camera to preserve my reaction when I opened it. My sister-in-law, Sheila, said she’d never heard me scream like that. I tried to hold it in. I really did, but I couldn’t. I was shaking from trying to hold it in when it came out! We’ve never had a lot of money, so as much as I’ve always wanted one I figured it would never happen. But my darling husband sacrificed some of his desires and got me one. Isn’t he an angel? I know it’s been a while since Thanksgiving when you did the blog talking about how thankful you are, but I am too, this Christmas Day. I got to see my grandpa, my brother and sister-in-law. I have all my kids and my husband with me and we’re all healthy. My sister-in-law is getting well with the treatments she is having for her liver. My grandpa seems to be healing from his knee surgery, although, I think we wore him out. I am doing very well emotionally. I think 2009 will be a much better year for me. I only enjoyed the last few months of 2008, but I am so grateful for those months and looking forward to even better things in 2009.
