Boss’s Day and a Birthday Party

Hello, friends! Look who arrived at our office on Monday, just in time for our Boss’s Day lunch celebration.

Our first copy of Esther is here! LifeWay always sends my mom the first one to roll off the press. It was such an exciting day! Mom brought her out while we were all there together, seated around our banqueting table and enjoying Nancy’s orange pineapple cake and Kimberly’s banana pudding. Then she had Nancy read the dedication page aloud to us. It was dedicated to my sister and me! What a surprise and what a special honor! What is so fun is that Melissa had just arrived from the airport a few minutes beforehand. It was perfect timing. (Esther’s estimated shelf date is November 15. But it could be a little earlier or a little later.)

All of us at LPM are incredibly blessed to have the WORLD’S BEST BOSSES! Beth and Sabrina, you lead us with such grace, wisdom, humility, and strength. We praise God for you!

The gift we gave our bosses was a donation made in their name to a family that has been severely affected by Hurricane Ike.

Changing topics now. Monday night our family had my birthday dinner. I had requested spaghetti and meatballs from my mom and she came through big time! It was so good! She also baked me a cake for the second year in a row. Now I’d like to rise up and call my mother blessed because look at this beauty. My mother loves me.

What? Do you not think my cake was exquisitely beautiful? The nerve! Maybe you need to see it in the gentle glow of my 29 candles. (I am getting dangerously close to more than a gentle glow.)

Still not doing it for you? Well maybe you’d like to take a look at my cake from last year.

Mom had a little icing malfunction and all she could squeeze out was “H B A,” which symbolized “Happy Birthday Amanda.” Do not be fooled by this cake’s appearance because it was the best cake of my life, only to be outdone by this year’s blue ribbon winner.

I got one present from my parents – a gift bag full of spending money which I plan to put into action this weekend. Mom is taking me on a little getaway and we are going to shop! Isn’t she the sweetest? Have a great day, girls!

I tried to post yesterday when blogger was down, so I am not sure if my post was received… so here goes!

    My first comment/question was…
Will your mom and dad adopt me? Love the cake and what a birthday present!!! Woo Hoo… have fun shopping!

Secondly… I cannot wait for Esther to be released. How I have enjoyed the blog posts this past year regarding the filming preparation etc. I feel like we have all been a part of it and walked right along w/ all of you as you “birth” this what I am sure will be wonderful study!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Thank you for sharing the arrival of Esther with us! Seeing the cover made my heart stand still in awe of God’s faithfulness to all of you who labored over creating that study, and to each of us who will get an even greater glimpse and dose of God through the pages and videos. I can’t wait to see more of God’s power and glory through it (and Beth!). I’ve already invited a non-believing friend to join our group for Esther in January, and she’s considering coming. I’m excited!

And BTW, those two cakes are just oozing warmth and love. I can feel it way up here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to thank you – Beth – because of your television show the other evening. Stepping out of our comfort zone – which was a complete confirmation for me becoming a permanent teacher in our preschool ministry – for 2 yr olds. I am so excited to see God in a mighty way work thru me – thank you for the confirmation!

Happy Birthday Amanda! My birthday is tomorrow and I can’t wait to see what kind of cake hubby and the kids make. It’s always so funny and very yummy.

Esther-the anticipation of my bible study group here in Metro Atlanta is hysterical! We range in age from 33-73, but seriously it’s like a pack of 3 year olds that cannot wait. So we’re having an Esther pre-party in December. We’ll start the study in January after the kids return to school. We just finished “Can We Talk” by Priscilla Shirer, so I’m challenging them to read Esther and use the steps we’ve learned to see what God teaches them before we start! Oh I’m getting excited just thinking about it. Enjoy your shopping day.

    Georgia Jan says:

Hello All: Just got back in from my weekend with my “mother and two sisters” and had to check in. I hope Amanda’s shopping trip went better!!!

Regarding my weekend, as the Moore women say…”IT WAS NOT A BLESSING.” We were delayed 3 hours in the backwoods of nowhere and had to sit in my mom’s car while downed power lines were repaired due to trees that snapped and fell during a bad windstorm and rain…had to get out of the car and walk into the woods twice to “tinkle” and pray to the Lord that no one could see me.

By this time there were 23 cars lined up waiting to get through. Tempers flaring, crazy people, funny people, scary people! One man got mad and tried to drive his truck through the blockade and he was wearing all camoflauge, I got a little wigged out, so we decided to roll up the windows. Prayed, got a little stuffy in the car, so we rolled them back down.

Then a sweet old man stopped and told me all about how he got through the blockade on a 4-wheeler so he could get his blood pressure pills…never had seen that man in my life…decided to roll the window back up.

Got to my sister’s lake house to discover no electricity…NOT A BLESSING when we were hoping to play games and watch movies all night. So we all went to bed and prayed the power would come on…it was COLD near that lake.

Got up this morning and the power came on around 7:00…just in time for coffee…now that WAS A BLESSING!

We planned our Thanksgiving menu and talked about drawing names for Christmas this year (as the family grows) which my mother the matriarch did not like…long story…NOT A BLESSING.

Then headed home – had to re-route due to some big parade in the little town nearby…NOT A BLESSING, finally figured out a detour, then got caught in traffic and waited in Macon for an hour due to a wreck (no one hurt – A BLESSING).

Krispy Kreme donuts for the trip…$9.99

    Gasoline to get there…$55.00

    Time with sisters…PRICELESS!

    Love y’all,
    Georgia Jan

    Hey y'all,

I hope this is okay to add, and I'm not sure this is the best place to add this, but don't know where else to "put" it. My husband is a district manager for a company in the Houston area, as well as several other cities in the south. He is looking for a couple sales people in Houston who are independent workers, honest, dependable and have solid sales experience, preferably in payroll. It is for a solid company with a long standing history, not commission only or anything like that. It is a legitimate career, with a decent salary (not great, but respectable, plus commission), medical benefits & etc.

I am only posting it here because God laid it on my heart last night to do so. There must be someone out there in siesta land that is looking for a job or has a spouse or family member or something that would fit this bill, because I normally would never say anything like this, but I was really prompted to, so there it is. If you need more details, contact me.
