Boss’s Day and a Birthday Party

Hello, friends! Look who arrived at our office on Monday, just in time for our Boss’s Day lunch celebration.

Our first copy of Esther is here! LifeWay always sends my mom the first one to roll off the press. It was such an exciting day! Mom brought her out while we were all there together, seated around our banqueting table and enjoying Nancy’s orange pineapple cake and Kimberly’s banana pudding. Then she had Nancy read the dedication page aloud to us. It was dedicated to my sister and me! What a surprise and what a special honor! What is so fun is that Melissa had just arrived from the airport a few minutes beforehand. It was perfect timing. (Esther’s estimated shelf date is November 15. But it could be a little earlier or a little later.)

All of us at LPM are incredibly blessed to have the WORLD’S BEST BOSSES! Beth and Sabrina, you lead us with such grace, wisdom, humility, and strength. We praise God for you!

The gift we gave our bosses was a donation made in their name to a family that has been severely affected by Hurricane Ike.

Changing topics now. Monday night our family had my birthday dinner. I had requested spaghetti and meatballs from my mom and she came through big time! It was so good! She also baked me a cake for the second year in a row. Now I’d like to rise up and call my mother blessed because look at this beauty. My mother loves me.

What? Do you not think my cake was exquisitely beautiful? The nerve! Maybe you need to see it in the gentle glow of my 29 candles. (I am getting dangerously close to more than a gentle glow.)

Still not doing it for you? Well maybe you’d like to take a look at my cake from last year.

Mom had a little icing malfunction and all she could squeeze out was “H B A,” which symbolized “Happy Birthday Amanda.” Do not be fooled by this cake’s appearance because it was the best cake of my life, only to be outdone by this year’s blue ribbon winner.

I got one present from my parents – a gift bag full of spending money which I plan to put into action this weekend. Mom is taking me on a little getaway and we are going to shop! Isn’t she the sweetest? Have a great day, girls!

My hubby’s b-day was yesterday and the children and I made him a cake. We made a round one three layers high. We were going to go higher but we only had one round cake pan and three layers ended up taking about three hourse to make with the cooling time.

Happy, Happy Birthyday Amanda!!! Have fun shopping! And don’t even think about keeping an eye out for more round cake pans for me. I’ll get my own on my birthday. Joking!!!

    Love the cake.

How special to receive the FIRST workbook. My group will be doing it some time in 2009, for sure.
My group is doing Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed right now and what comes to my mind looking at today’s pictures and the New England tour recap is from ATR, David’s prayer in 2 Samuel 7:18-29.

    Rejoicing with you all.

Happy belated birthday, Amanda! My mother made my favorite cake one year but let the homemade chocolate frosting cool too long and only got sort of a blobby coating onto the cake before it refused to spread any more. It made a hilarious picture. But it sure did taste good!

Well Happy Birthday! Those are lovely cakes. The kind I grew up with, made in a 9×13 cake pan, with love and written on by mom, those are the best cakes! I just made one yesterday for my husband, Oct. 22nd, his was cherry chip with homemade almond flavored icing, tinted blue. Delicious if not overly attractive! Hope you have a wonderful, blessed getaway, have fun shopping too!

    Amanda,
I am always just as inspired by you and your sister. I am 29 and going to be 30 this April, and it is so nice to have the perspective of you and your sister because sometimes I wonder how you both deal with the world and being a follower of Christ.
I hope you have a blessed birthday get-a-way and may the LORD bless you in your life and family.

    Love in HIM,
    Siesta OC

PS: Beth, I think you should SERIOUSLY consider a career on the Food Network, you could speak a bible study and make Risotto at the same time.

You are so funny! If you say the cake was exquisite, then we will take your word for it! Spaghetti and Meatballs, cakes, 29 count-em candles, Esther, and just getting back from New England! You are a wise woman to call your mom blessed! I am so glad she dedicated the study to you both! You are so dear to us and show such a godliness! For such a time as this, you are both here and the age you are. And, you are both beautiful stars! I can hardly wait to see if Bethie makes it to a layer cake next year! (30 IS BIG ONE). Please send pics of the shopping extravaganza and some “key wardrobe investments!” Also, could you post a new pic of you now, as the last time I saw you in San Antonio, you didn’t even look pregnant! I bet you are so beautiful! Love you sweetie!

The Sterling Saints in Colorado are eagerly anticipating your Esther Bible Study. We just finished Steppin’ Up and are taking a book reading break. This group of gals are truly precious and love studying with you – even when it overwhelms them beyond their belief. In our group the ages are from 25 – 89. We are so excited!

As for the BDay cake – WOW!!! I love it, I love it, I love it. Very creative, very well loved and very much a source of great memories. Good thing it tastes great! Very cute though – especially the fish and all those candles!!??!! Did you guys set off the fire alarm!? Hhahahaaha I amuse myself (if no one else!).

Glad you had a great birthday celebration, here is to many more blessed birthdays with all who love you and we are really pumped for the new bible study!

    Hi Amanda,

The cover of the Esther Study is so charming and she has a look and stance in her body of how many of we Siestas have felt a time or two or three. :o) Oh, and happy birthday. Forgot to say that to you on Tuesday night before LIT Class. Sorry but I was so excited to finally meet Jackson in person when he was having a few samples from your Mom’s tasty looking treat. Amanda, Curtis has been such a delight as our teacher. I come away with so much and I, of course, always let him know not only as feed back but also to encourage him because is a gifted young man. Way to go Curtis! As I told your Mom, I will always be an encourager to him. Melissa, it was so nice to also finally meet you as well. I can’t tell you what it means for you to come all the way in to Houston to co-teach with your Mom. What a blessing.
Amanda, I know you all will have nothing short of a blast spending that cash and what a great gift!

Much love and many, many blessings!!!!!
