He’s Got Your Back

Hey, you lovely things! This morning early I got a very touching text from someone that made me start reflecting on so many ways that God seems to go out of His way (if that were possible) to make sure we know He’s got our backs. You know what I’m talking about. Ways that He whispers in your ear or maybe reverberates from the mountaintops that He’s aware of what you’re battling and where you’re hurting. Ways He tells you He has NOT forgotten. Ways He assures you that your prayers are not just hitting the ceiling. That He’s on it and that your life has not for the merest instant been swallowed up in a black hole. That in your WAIT He is at WORK.

So I tweeted these two statements this morning, one right after the other:

First one:

Sit up slack-jawed over all the ways God lets you know He’s got your back. He’ll tell people to pray for you who have no earthly notion why.

Second one:

Per last tweet, I’m glad God can tell people to pray without telling them why. Sometimes I want people in my burden but not in my business.

The responses that almost instantly flew up on my phone exhilarated me and built me up in my faith as numerous people told me that they’d experienced the same gorgeous phenomenon. The one bad (and sometimes GOOD!) thing about Twitter is that the space is too limited to get super specific. Now that my curiosity is piqued, I want to hear some testimonies! Tell your sisters here in this community one way God has done this kind of thing for you. Tell us a specific incident or sight or encounter or correspondence He used to make sure you knew that He was with you, intimately aware of your situation. Girlfriend, you ARE very much on His radar.

Let’s testify about some ways God leaves you thinking something like,

“You hem me in, behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is high; I cannot attain it…How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” Psalm 139:5-6,17

In other words…

Can’t wait to hear! Just so you know that no one was posing as your own Siesta Mama in that picture…

And that bleached blond right there loves you.

Hey Beth:) He usually shows me He has got my back by repeating Scripture to me, from different sources too. Like two different people or something i read…It is so beyond me how He knows everything about each one of His children, and what is going on in their lives, and exactly what they need at exactly the right time.

Blessings to you today, love you Siesta Mama, and also, I love those jacket pics, I remember seeing you wear some of those before:) Cuteness jackets:)

I know you don’t normally read long comments, but I just had to share this.Your post was PERFECT timing.

This morning we all at home were fearfully awaiting the call from my mother at the ER that told us my nine year old brother had died. It’s a long story, but here’s the brief summary:

For the past ten days, he’s been terribly sick. We thought it was the flu, and when we took him to the doctor, she said he’d been fine with some anti-biotic.

My mother took him to the ER at three in the morning last night, and we found out that last week sometime, his appendix had ruptured. Within minutes they rushed him off to surgery, and the doctor KNEW he would not live through it.

Many tears and three hours later, he came out of surgery and was put in ICU. The whole time, I was just praying “Lord, I don’t know what to do. We need prayer for this sweet boy–please have someone pray for us.”

The doctor came out and shook his head. We’d never met him before, but he went to my mom, looking absolutely baffled. “God closed the doors of death for your son.”

An absolute miracle from the hand of God! No one just lives a week with an exploded appendix. He’ll be in ICU for the next week, and the poor boy is hooked up to every tube and IV imaginable with nurses hovering, but he’s going to be all right. And we are rejoicing!

God is so good, and I’m so thankful for our wonderful church family who came to our aid quickly with prayer and encouragement. They’re such a blessing.

Once I was fundraising for a year internship program… the goal was $7,200. I told the Lord that I would really LOVE it if He would prove Himself faithful and provide for that amount before I had to start the program (in 6 months).

I sent out support letters… A few days later, one of the people I sent a support letter to, says “The Lord wants you to know that He IS faithful.” and hands me a check for 1,200. I was flabbergasted since I never told anyone what I had prayed! 3 days later, someone else handed me another 1,200.

The day before I was to arrive to the ministry, I was short $50! One of my friends hands me a check and says… “I really wanted to give you more but I felt very specifically that I was supposed to give you this amount…”

Oh HOW faithful He proved Himself to me that year.

Beth, Having experienced just such a “God’s got my back” moment this week, I have to share.

My family has been attending a small church in rural CO for several years. There are not many choices and many of my friends attend there. While it is very different from the Southern Baptist and/or nondenominational churches I have attended in the past, it has a very loving congregation. However, over the last year I had noticed the material presented and printed becoming more and more liberal and strange. After researching the denomination and praying, my husband and I invited our pastor over and were very dismayed to learn that her beliefs (and yes, I did say her) were very much in agreement with this VERY liberal denomination’s views. With great sadness we told her we could not support nor attend there any longer as we believed much of what they believed went against what WE knew and had learned from God’s word.

Feeling very sad while driving to work, I was praying and thinking over the scripture where Jesus said “many will come to me saying Lord, Lord, didn’t I do” this and that in your name and Jesus turns to them and says “depart from me, I never knew you”. Meditating on this scripture was in response to her assertion that just doing good works (feeding poor, visiting in prison, etc) was enough to guarantee a relationship with God.

I was asking God to let me know if I was being judgmental or if I was wrong in this instance when just then my Christian radio speaker used this EXACT scripture (many will say Lord, Lord…. etc) in his radio message. I felt instant peace and assurance that “God had my back” and that I was not wrong in my position or decision.

This was a much-needed confirmation for which I am very grateful!! Our God hears, and answers!!

I’m a little late to this but man I’m so excited to share!! I have been watching Beth’s series on lifetoday.org recently and so tonight I went over there to check out this weeks video! I could not believe when she said turn to Deuteronomy 8!!! The Lord recently put it on my heart to memorize this chapter. He also gave me v8 while I was doing the believing God study. My husband and I are currently waiting for some things to happen in order to be able to start the adoption process and he has used so much of this chapter to teach me through this time of waiting. Wow Beth God is certainly using your teaching of this chapter to get me through this. Thank you so much and I can’t wait for the rest of the series! I’m believing God!!!!!

I’ve been asking God to bestow a hunger for the Word in my worship leading, deacon husband of mine. He is a sweet, hard working, cute as can be man that I married 26years ago. Beth, every time you put something out, my Tuesday morning ladies group and I devour it and it blesses us so. But my better half is content without studying, until just in the last few months. We went thru your Daniel study together. He laughed when you called him “Girlfriend or Sister”. 🙂 It stirred a hunger in him like I’ve never seen. Praise God. I think God is touching his heart for ministry. Talk about answering in a way bigger than I could have imagined. God is so GOOD!!

About ten years ago, I was informed, in a late afternoon meeting with my boss, that I would not be able to join my nurse partner (who also happened to be my sister/friend) at the new hospital being built close to my home. My friend and I were currently working at a hospital about 30 miles from my home and we had benn promised that we would go together, as a team, to the new hospital when it opened. I was so disappointed! On my drive home, as I cried and pondered, God brought to mind a scripture that I had memorized in Sunday School as a little girl. I had not thought of this scripture in years! I KNOW that God put this on my heart and brought it back to mind, because I remembered the King James Version. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” Isaiah 26:3. I couldn’t wait to get home and find this verse in my Bible. It was, and continues to be such a comfort to me as I encounter trials on this journey we call life 🙂

When I saw this post, my first thought was: I know he has my back because His magnificent FAVOR and provision are all over my life.
    1. Several weeks ago on March 1, I got a phone call from a good friend from church inviting me to the Chris Tomlin Burning Lights tour concert. She had an extra free ticket and backstage pass to meet him and Louie. The coolest thing was I had just been praying Psalm 28:7 for Louie and Shelley that morning and then had the most incredible privilege to tell him in person that very night! #purefavor
    2. After three consecutive years of attending LPL, I had decided that the closest venue wasn’t close enough to justify going to see you live. 🙁 Then, the very next week (after the Tomlin surprise), I got word that I had been given a ticket to your Greensboro, NC event! #morepurefavor
    3. Then this past Saturday, I was over hanging out with friends and I mentioned that I was having issues with my car battery and I needed to replace it but I was just procrastinating because it’s an inconvenience. Well, he took my car to PepBoys and took care of everything–cost and all! #overwhelmingfavor
