Pop Quiz!

Hey, Sweet Things! How about a pop quiz?? Come on, let’s do it! But only under one condition: NO CONDEMNATION. Not one iota and I mean it. If you’re down on yourself today or somebody’s made you feel dumb or if you’ve been compulsively running like a wild woman from every spiritual discipline like we all do sometimes, you get a hall pass. This is just for fun for those who think this kind of thing is a bit exhilarating. Translation: it’s Nerd Day in Siestaville. If you’re not into the classroom thing, pass this post by and catch up on some old ones. We’ll post a new one soon.

For those of you who want to participate, please limit your comments to the question number and briefest possible response. Some of them will be simple yeses and nos. On the questions that apply, you can by all means use your Bibles but try to answer as many as possible without them. You might consider the object of the game to see how fast you can answer all of these amid the page flipping. Needless to say,  you’ll need to answer your questions without reading any of the comments first. Cheating would be a tad counterproductive. Grin. You might do the test on a Word document then copy and paste it in your comment.

Psalm 25 with my 12 year old daughter. I just saw in her Bible yesterday that right next to this psalm she has written: “Beth Moore remembers!” I think she meant to write “Beth Moore – Memorize” – but she wrote “remembers!” So cute. The younger the Siesta, the cuter they are! (that would be a good Siestaville motto!) (Actually, that could make for a fun post some day – to come up with Siestaville mottos – like — “Siestaville – Open 24 hours a day!”)

    G’nite!

Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

“Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

“Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.

“Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.

“And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

    Isaiah 58:6-11

    Jean says:

My bible study group is in the midst of Mercy Triumphs, so I am memorizing James (pray for me…lol). But in my daily reading (Chronilogical Bible in a year), it was the reading of Jesus and his disciples not fasting. It meant so much more to me since I am in this Mercy study, because of the emphasis on how James was merging the new way of life for the Jews. How did their new Christianity fits into their Jewish life. And here you have Jesus not obey all the pharisees. Then when the bible passage got to the part where Jesus says to them “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be take from them, then they will fast.” I just got chills. The next passage was was awesome too, but you all can read it for your self. But yeah, if you have done the Mercy bible study, that passage was more awesome! God Bless…

It is possible that Timothy transcribed the letter from Paul and took it to the congregation at Jerusalem (see Heb. 13:23).
