LIT: An Event for Women in Their 20s & 30s with Fire in Their Bones to Teach, Speak or Write

lit_revised1

I’m ecstatic to announce an all-day Saturday event on February 11, 2017 specifically designed for women in their 20s and 30s who feel called by God to serve this generation through teaching, speaking or writing. The passion to do this event welled up in me continually as I wrote the Bible study on 2nd Timothy called Entrusted. (Released September 1, 2016) The final words of the Apostle Paul, penned to his beloved son in the faith, sketch a relationship on the sacred page of stunning mutual love and support between two generations. Over the course of five weeks, the curriculum holds the spotlight on doctrines imparted and dynamics shared between those two servants of Christ, inviting us to step into the paradigm they represent. If God ordains the order of each generation from the beginning to the end of time, and Scripture says He does, then we can safely assume He also has purpose in the generations He causes to overlap. Each generation – the younger and the older – has the privilege to profoundly impact how the other flourishes.

God timed the writing of Entrusted after two decades of publishing experience and three decades in active ministry. The Paul-Timothy paradigm threw open the door of opportunity to share some things I’d learned, often the hard way, in my journey with Jesus. I’ll echo the same disclaimer here: There is so much I don’t know, so much I don’t have, but whatever is mine to give is yours to have if you want it.

Because I wrote the study to apply to Jesus followers with any spiritual gift mix, I tried to avoid the trap of overemphasizing the ones most familiar to me. All the gifts are vital and all believers are called. I kept wishing along the way, however, that I had a little extra time with young women who feel led by the Holy Spirit to speak, teach or write simply because those are the areas of my exposure and experience.

And that’s where the idea for Lit emerged:

Making the most of a Saturday – from morning through evening – to pour into women in their 20s and 30s who have completed the 5-week study Entrusted and desire to zero-in specifically on speaking and writing gifts. I’m going to have to ask you to trust my motive here. I’m not trying to sell you a Bible study. I have a couple of different reasons for making it a requirement. First, space is limited and I want to insure that those who come are serious about the Scriptures and convinced they want to press on and pay the price of self-discipline to grow into their callings. I’d rather have 100 with fire in their bones than 500 who are mostly just curious. Nothing is wrong with curiosity. It’s just not what this day is set aside to satisfy. Secondly and most importantly, making Entrusted a prerequisite means that we come together on the same page. We can hit the ground running on that Saturday morning and make the most use of our time. Entrusted involves the fundamentals of becoming a mighty servant of God, of grasping the gospel message and using our diverse gifts to share it. If we all come together with those basics already in our arsenal, we can launch straight to the next level.

And we’re going to have a blast. I’ve asked my friend, Christy Nockels, to lead worship and invited a cross-section of my speaking/teaching/writing friends and colleagues to join Christy and me that evening for a panel and Q&A. I love and respect so many female teachers and authors serving our generation and wish we had a week to expose you to all of them. The ones who will serve on our panel that night were sought out because each brings something different to the mix.

Before I give you instructions for our first-come, first-serve registration, here’s a glimpse of the schedule so you can see if it appeals to you:

Our very special guests joining me that evening for the panel are Jennie Allen, Christine Caine, Melissa Moore, Christy Nockels, Priscilla Shirer and host Amanda Jones.

REGISTRATION OPENS Friday, Nov 25th at 9 a.m.   Cost $25.00 (to help cover expenses).

Space is limited and our aim will be to fill the room evenly with young women in their 20s and in their 30s.  But please don’t delay, if either decade does not fill up by December 1st, registration will open up the remaining space.

Requirement: 5 week Bible study Entrusted completed by that day and brought with each attendee as her ticket for admission. Please no exceptions. (Both workbook and DVD sessions recommended but only the completion of the workbook is required.)

The registration page will include hotel information, along with a full FAQ section to help with any questions you might have.

I can already tell you this will be one of the most fun gatherings I get to be part of all year. I cannot WAIT.

I believe strongly in what God wants to do with you young women.

So much love to all of you. I’m honored to be your big sister and servant.

Beth

Well, dang. I guess 20-30s doesn’t include 50s. But I sure would like to sponsor a young’un or two. If that need arrises, please let us older’uns know.

I am so passionate about the need for this, Beth… to raise up these young gals to be teachers of sound doctrine.

God bless you for doing this!

And if one of the young ones has to cancel and you need an older one to fill… I’m your gal.

    xoxo – P

    Jodi says:

Thank you Beth, LPM, and other teachers! Any chance that you awesome ladies would be able to record the event or offer it again later? I will be too close to my sweet miracle baby’s due date to travel. I imagine there are many others who would benefit from a recording too, including those unable to afford to travel, or upcoming leaders in other countries hungry for reliable resources…

      Media says:

Hi Jodi! We will be taping the event, so there is a chance it will become available in the future. We will be sure to share if it does become available. Blessings!

      • Vanessa says:

I would love to come to this!! Though, living in CA limits my opportunity to do so … HA! So if you ladies are able to record it and offer it later, that would be such a gift!! Blessings

      • Angela Keskey says:

YEAH! Please keep us posted. (which you do SO well!)

      • Jodi says:

Thank you so much! I will be looking forward to this! One other thing I appreciate is how affordable the price is for the workshop. I had looked into doing something similar but felt burdened because I knew people more talented than myself who could not afford the entry price. If I was going to get that kind of training I wanted them to desperately. But the price was too expensive for me to pay for myself and my friends. Hopefully I can help get this into the hands and hearts of these amazing ladies I see God calling and working in their lives. Thank you so much! This is an encouraging answer to my prayers!

        • Jodi says:

As the sign up time grows near, I recalculated my due date, but at 37 weeks pregnant on Feb 11, my doctor, like most, would not clear me to travel. Also the thought of someone going into labor during a session is definitely not the excitement/distraction anyone wants!! However I feel led to pray for the event, those who attend, and for the possibility of taping it. I apologize for the multiple replies, but God keeps putting this on my heart. Thank you for hosting this!

      Rebecca says:

I, too, am in the same boat and hoping that future opportunities would be available! Either more events or a recorded webcast or video. Thank you, Beth, for doing this!

    Ashley says:

Just to clarify…registration will not be open to the 40 and up crowd unless it doesn’t fill up? Thanks. This looks to be an amazing day!

      Media says:

Hi Ashley! Yes, that’s correct. If there is remaining space by December 1st, it will open up to women of all ages. Blessings to you!

      • I would LOVE to attend but I’m well past my 30’s. Hoping Beth will consider releasing the teaching for us older gals (writers/speakers) to glean from her too. I’ll be sure to check back on December 1st to see if any slots open up, but I’m sure this event will sell out quickly.

    Sara says:

I am so excited for this event. Hoping to make it (would be flying from Michigan), if something prevents my attendance is there going to be a live stream by chance?!

Praying for this event!! Tnank you Ms. Beth

    Betty M says:

I so wish this would’ve been available to me years ago. I am at least twice as old as the 30+ yrs these gals will be but some of us are called later in life. When I was that age I was busy raising two special needs kids and later I had to work outside the home with precious little time or resources to pursue another career.
Because the Lord has lead me through many rocky paths and I have gained alot of wisdom in going through raising these kids and fighting a severe mood disorder and many other circumstances that almost claimed my life I now feel in my retirement years that the Lord is calling me to write and speak for Him. I find all over even in our church, leadership seminars are catering mostly to the younger gals who may be busy with raising children and pursuing other careers as well. Let’s face it, writing and speaking is a crowded field and unless you have connections and a very good platform you may not break in easily. Now gals like me have more time, have more resources to pursue this and still could benefit from seminars and conferences like this but sadly we are aged out of it.
I have just had a couple of Bible studies devos etc published in our international women’s quarterly in our LCMS church and am pretty much learning as I go along. I have learned not to bite off a big bite to start with and start smaller not writing a book as a first venture. I will at some point finish our family memoirs and am hoping to publish smaller books in a study/ story format but have not began that as yet.
I pray these young gals will take advantage of this I wish I would have this opportunity.
Thank you Beth for sacrificing your time and resources to make this available to those young gals starting out.
    Hugs,
    Betty
PS We will be starting the Entrusted study in our small group soon.

Oh. My. This is an answer to so many prayers and this confirmation is indescribable. Already had Entrusted sitting on my desk as ‘next in line’ for bible study. The entire book of 2 Timothy continues to speak to me in ways that take my breath away, and 2 Timothy 1:6-7 has been my life verse since 2011/2012. I’m so excited! Already spoken to my husband, and I’m in! God is doing something NEW! Glory!

    Shannon Stevenson says:

Would love for you to do this with those of us that are older and have been called but just now able to walk in that calling. Awesome that you are doing this with the younger generation though! You are such a blessing to the Body of Christ!!!

  10. 10
    Shelby Howe says:

I am so excited for this! I pray God makes this happen! He is a good God! Thank you, Beth Moore.

It’s like God is lining me up with you, my mom got me your new fiction book, The Undoing of Saint Silvanus, and she had it signed by you – to me! As if that wasn’t big enough! Now you’re hosting a conference, with other women I love, and it’s close enough for me to drive to! Can’t wait!!

    Cassandra Spicer says:

How many spots are going to be open in each age group?

    • 12.1
      Media says:

Hi Cassandra! Registration will open first to women in their 20s and 30s (no designated number for each), and then if there is still available space, it will open up to women of all ages on December 1st. I hope this helps!

      • Cassandra says:

I am in my 20’s… I’m just curious of how many spots are going to be open for the women in their 20’s

        • Media says:

Hi Cassandra, we would love for you to join us! We haven’t released the number of spots available, only that there is a limited number. However, registration is open for women in their 20s and 30s only from November 25 to December 1 so as give you a little head start. Blessings!

    Angela Talley says:

Any chance this would be offered online? My baby is due Jan. 30th; therefore, I will be unable to travel. I have been looking forward to this event and completed the study. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to watch online and gain the same resources.

    Blessings,

    Angela

      Media says:

Hi Angela, congratulations on your sweet baby! We won’t be live-streaming the event, but we will be taping it with the possibility of eventually making it available for you. If it becomes available, we will be sure to announce it. Blessings to you!

    Beth Forbus says:

PLEASE. PLEASE. Open this up to 40’s! Entrusted has impacted me in crazy ways. I was looking for a way to sign up before I finished reading the whole article–then saw I’m beyond the age limit. Seriously–PLEASE. If this one fills up–& I know it will because this is INCREDIBLE–PLEASE consider a session for us older gals. Or at least let us color our gray, squeeze in to threads way too young for us, learn some younger lingo, and sneak in!

  15. 15
    Eyre says:

Just in case there will be no room for women outside the 20-30 age bracket, are you able to share similar resources we can look into? Thank you!

    • 15.1
      Media says:

Hi Eyre, thank you for your interest! We will be filming the event with the possibility of eventually making it available for you. If it becomes available, we will be sure to announce it.

      • Lisa says:

I LOVE this idea and hope you sell out all the tickets to women in their 20s and 30s! Putting this wisdom into that age range will so empower them for their ministries in their future. But for those of us 40+ please do record and make it available. I think I speak for many that are interested so we can share in the knowledge. GO Beth!!

    Danielle says:

I have been waiting for this since I heard Beth in Cincinnati and it lit a fire in me. I would love to attend, but turned 40 a few weeks ago. I have facilitated neighborhood Bible studies and MOPS book studies, but know it’s time for this generation to take a bigger lead in our churches and communities in teaching his Word. Having my fourth child turning four and starting preschool opens more time for me to answer this call I’ve received. I would love to get this training.

    Andrea says:

This is AMAZING!! It would be so timely for me concerning these very areas. I’ve felt so out of my depths about it, even though I fully recognize He is the one who has entrusted me with the gift and calling to share His message around the globe. So, I do want to brave up and speak/write according to His word and by His spirit, with boldness, confidence, humility, wisdom, grace, and truth. I’ve been doing the Entrusted study and it has so encouraged me. Deeply hopeful to make it in with the group for this special event to lean in and listen and learn. SO MUCH LOVE to you for doing this! XO

    Jessica Parker says:

Wow! Thank you Beth! This 100% speaks to a secret dream God placed in my heart years ago. I am a full-time middle school teacher at an inner city charter school. Teaching inner city youth is my first passion. But, that still quiet voice keeps telling me, I will write. To share with women. In due time. I’ve waited patiently for that release. I know the time is nearing, as I wait on Him. During the wait, God is growing me, through raising my kids, leading women’s groups at our church, and learning to be a dedicated pastor’s wife (a realitively new role). Refiner’s Fire. I am looking forward to 11/25.

    Caroline Lowe says:

I am currently a Mass Comm major with a minor in Youth and Discipleship. Writing for Jesus is my passion and I would love to attend this event; however I am 19. Is there a chance I can participate?

    Becky Cole says:

Yes! Please do an event for those of us over 40. I turn 40 on Feb. 2 – will just miss the cut off. (sad face). Mrs. Beth I have loved learning from you for nearly 20 years! I first heard you speak at an event in my hometown of Bossier City, Louisiana when I was still in college. I recently wrote a children’s book (Tell Someone: a story to raise awareness and help prevent childhood sexual abuse) based on my own experience and have just begun speaking at MOPS meetings where I talk not just about prevention but also healing and freedom. Thanks for all you do and for leading us so well!

    Mei says:

Oh wow! What an incredible gift! If only I were 15 years younger. I only accepted Christ when I was 38 years old and have spent the last 15 years running hard after Him, trying to make up for the years He was not Lord of my life. Beth, like so many countless women, God used you to show me how beautiful His Word is. The very first Bible study I ever did was Beth’s online Believing God study because, at that time, we did not have ladies Bible study at our church. And I have been hooked ever since, totally captivated by the beauty of His Word. When Beth came close to our area 10 years ago.I invited some ladies from my Sunday School class to see her. A fire was lit and a small group of us started ladies Bible study in one of the ladies’ home. Our small group has grown to about 30 and this past year, I had the honor and privilege to co-lead a group of senior high girls.

About 4 years ago, some dear friends started encouraging me to speak/write and I have felt God’s nudging as He pushed me through some doors:) PLEASE, PLEASE consider doing a workshop for us late bloomers!

      Media says:

Hi Mei, we are so thankful for the way the Lord is using you! While this event is geared toward our younger sisters, any remaining spots on December 1st will open up to women of all ages. If the taping does become available, we will be sure to let everyone know. Blessings!

    A 44 year old says:

With all my heart, I believe this age grouping is prayerful and purposeful and I submit to it. I have been tracking Beth’s comments and videos on this blog teaching those of us who are rising up to her own calling. How excited I was to hear there would be a day set aside for those of us rising up! I got Entrusted right away (mindful of the upcoming special day) &, thanks be to God, had a beautiful group in my house that included every decade from 20’s-70’s. We completed it a couple of weeks ago & are regrouping this very Wednesday to review the truths learned & what the “therefore” is for each of our lives.

I am hopeful there will be room for me after Dec 1. If not, may I humbly request another date for those of us who are older but on fire? How can I even ask this of dear Beth who is pulled in a million different directions??? I don’t know, I just feel compelled to audaciously ask. I am on the cusp of developing a ministry to hurting parents and would be blessed with the knowledge/truths that will be offered.

Not a hint of condemnation or anger. Just a request. Thank you all for what you do.

    Elise says:

The Holy Spirit gives a special kind of goosebumps and I love Him for it! I had chillbumps the whole time while reading.

I so want to be a part of this! I am 31. and the youngest of my 5 kiddos will still be nursing in February — if I bring a sister to watch my baby while I’m in the sessions will that be okay if she’s in a nearby room of the church? Will there be a room I could step out to nurse him in and still hear what’s being shared?

Either way — I praise God for this! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your faithfulness to equip the next generation!

I especially need to learn in the area of speaking. Thank you so much!

Wow … what a great opportunity for the young and called! I echo the hope that it (or something like it) will open up to those of us that have been called at a later age in life :).

Beth! What an amazing idea – what a legacy in the making. I think this is one of your best endeavors yet. Don’t get me wrong – I L.O.V.E. your studies and LPLs – but to pour into those coming behind you – well done! So excited to watch these women arise. Be blessed by this.

    Deirdre says:

I cannot believe my eyes! I have prayed for an opportunity like this!!!! I have tried before to connect with others who teach on this, but there was always a barrier. I am believing that God preserved the space for me to learn from someone who is called and TOTALLY in love with Jesus, like Beth. I’ve not completed the Entrusted study yet, but would I still qualify if I order it now and get started??? I am in need of this training for the ministry that God has given me (www.womanyouareloved.com) which has already attracted women to follow my teaching and mentoring. I believe this training would be the EXACT fine tuning that I need to service them with His highest.

    Beth,

What a beautiful picture depicting the light of Christ fueled by the Holy Spirit. The title adds a modern day twist to Psalm 105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” I look towards you and see the things you are doing. May the LORD repay your faithfulness according to His will and according to His purpose!!!

Beth & Team – This is going to be amazing time! What a great panel you have compiled and with your daughters there today – the legacy will SHINE! I’m so thankful for your investment in the young women who will attend and I will be praying for great fruit from this.

I am leading a group of young women through Entrusted right now. It’s your best, Beth – so good.

    I love you!

PS: I’m glad you’re asking them to “bring the parchments” with them, and they may even need a cloak in February. 🙂

I am all kinds of crazy excited about this! It’ll be the week after my 24th birthday, and could not come at a more perfect time. Thank you, Beth, for your obedience in your ministry and willingness to share your wisdom and experience to our generation.

What time will the registration open on November 25th?

  42. 42

This is going to be amazing. I will be there!! Already looking up flights and setting a calendar reminder to register first thing 11/25. And I just ordered Entrusted so I’ll be ready to go on February 11th. Thank YOU Beth for following the Spirit’s leading and putting this together for us Powerhouse line-up!! Thankful for your desire to pour into the next generation ❤️ You paved the way for women like me to have the courage to pursue our dreams of teaching, writing, and speaking for the Lord. Thank you for putting this together for us!

What a fabulous opportunity, and how generous of y’all to put it together. This is not for me, and I’m way past my 30’s, but I just wanted to say “thank-you!” for doing this for the young ladies who are called to minister in these areas. I’ll be praying for blessings to be poured out on this event!

    Love and hugs,
    Adrienne

Hi! I know several women in their 40s who have been looking forward to this since you talked about it on Periscope. So wish it was open to them too because of the timing in their lives- kids older, God opening a new season for them to explore their callings to speak, write, teach. Please please please consider extending age group. These women are the ones who will take your teaching and be a Timothy with it while at the same time being Paul for others and sharing this teaching with those they are bringing up behind them. Praying this opportunity opens for them and for the sweet 64 year old Terrie that commented earlier!! Natural age means little these days to the timing of one’s calling. Pretty please! 🙂

Hi! By opening registration on November 25th to women in their 20s and 30s, we are just trying to give our younger sisters a head start. Any remaining space will be open to women of all ages starting on December 1st. Blessings to you!

Oh my! I would absolutely love to attend! But, I’m in my mid-fifties. I am a Leader among women in the local church, regionally and nationally – and my greatest weakness is speaking. I would love to bring a woman from my church that I am mentoring – Please consider me!

Wow. I will prayerfully consider this. What a fantastic panel and concept! Pulled up your blog to thank Beth and team for being so faithful in leading with dignity and grace without watering down the gospel. Women in our small New England church are drinking in James this fall (awesome!), practicing living out the gospel and loving in our non-church area. I’m trying to guide this group well. And I’m in tears over the wave of self love drowning out Jesus message from respected women leaders lately. So thank you for providing this. Thankful I might be able to squeeze in at 39. Some of us have the desire but lack courage without more training or seminary. Thank you!

I would give my right arm to go, but I am on the Dave Ramsey plan! I need to stay faithful to it. I would LOVE it if, God willing, you could have it again next year! I would make plans for a hotel and flight!

Thank you so much for believing in us, Beth (& LPM staff)! It encourages my soul as I pray about attending and I am giddy about this opportunity. Praying for you as you continue preparing and beyond thrilled for the journey that’s already in motion.

My heart jumped when I read this and I can’t get it out of my mind. If I register on Friday, I intend to do everything in my power to get to Houston from LA in February. In the event I just can’t make it work (with reasonable advanced notice), could I pass on my registration to someone who might’ve wanted to go but couldn’t swing the fee?
This sounds amazing, by the way, and I’m already scouting flights, haha.

I LOVE IT, and the name! Bless you, Beth, for following the word of the Lord in this hour and pouring into our younger sisters in this way. May our ceiling be their floor. And bless you sweet sister, whichever one of you is responding to all of these comments. This 48 year old will be watching with bated breath on Dec. 1, to see if there are any openings. I pray every seat is filled!
