You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? Do you think this will really please the Lord? “No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. -Isaiah 58:5-7

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. Psalm 42:1 NIV
I am going to type what I have memorized thus far up until this next verse (which will sound strange when it stands alone). But I am memorizing the chapter of Psalm 51- my love is to pray scripture, as my own prayers feel so lame sometimes. Here it goes:
“Have mercy on me oh God, according to thy loving kindness, according to thy great compassion, blot out my transgressions. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you and you only have I sinned, and done what is evil in your sight. That you may be found just when you speak and blameless when you judge (not sure I get this part, but oh well, it’s Scripture)… ok, so this was verses 1-4 and this week is verse 5 which I don’t know yet. But hey, it’s short, and I like short.
I am memorizing the chapter of Psalm 51. This week it states:
“Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.” Well… I don’t like this verse, but since it’s part of context in which I am memorizing, I will suck it up and memorize it.
