And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him healed him.”

    7. In the same set of Scriptures you used for #6, what two erroneous assumptions did the islanders make about the Apostle Paul? (Hint: you’ll see that they changed their minds about their first conclusion.)

    Krista H says:

    1. King Belshazzar – Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin
    Daniel 5:1,5,25
1King Belshazzar held a great feast for 1,000 of his nobles and drank wine in their presence.
5 At that moment the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and began writing on the plaster of the king’s palace wall next to the lampstand. As the king watched the hand[d] that was writing, 6 his face turned pale,[e] and his thoughts so terrified him that his hip joints shook and his knees knocked together.
25 “This is the writing that was inscribed:
    MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.

    2. Abraham’s nephews
    Genesis 22:20-21
20 Now after these things Abraham was told, “Milcah also has borne sons to your brother Nahor: 21 Uz his firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel the father of Aram,

    3. David; he compares sons to nurtured plants
    Ps. 144:12
Then our sons will be like plants
    nurtured in their youth,
    our daughters, like corner pillars
that are carved in the palace style.

    4. He wrote “His name is John” then he was able to speak again and he praised God.
    Luke 1:61-64
61 Then they said to her, “None of your relatives has that name.” 62 So they motioned to his father to find out what he wanted him to be called. 63 He asked for a writing tablet and wrote:
    HIS NAME IS JOHN.
And they were all amazed. 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God.

    5. God of old …I read HCSB version 🙂
    Deut. 33:27
The God of old is your dwelling place,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.
He drives out the enemy before you
    and commands, “Destroy!”

    6. Paul was bit by a poisonous snake but wasn’t hurt by it
    Acts 28:3-5
3 As Paul gathered a bundle of brushwood and put it on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself to his hand. 4 When the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man is probably a murderer, and though he has escaped the sea, Justice[a] does not allow him to live!” 5 However, he shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.

    7. They first thought he was a murderer and that the snake bite was justice. After he was unharmed they assumed he was a god.
    Acts 28: 4-6
4 When the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man is probably a murderer, and though he has escaped the sea, Justice[a] does not allow him to live!” 5 However, he shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm. 6 They expected that he would swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after they waited a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.

    8. Ezekiel – he was carried to the North gate of Jerusalem before an offensive statue
    Ezekiel 8:3
3 He stretched out what appeared to be a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the inner gate that faces north, where the offensive statue that provokes jealousy was located.

    9. This was a blind man Jesus had just healed by spitting on his eyes. Jesus asked him what he saw after He had touched his eyes. He could not yet see clearly until Jesus touched him again.
    Mark 8:22-24
22 Then they came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to Him and begged Him to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and brought him out of the village. Spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see anything?”
24 He looked up and said, “I see people—they look to me like trees walking.”

    10. She was also Paul’s mom. The Message says “She has also been a dear mother to me.” Which implies she is not his birth mother. This is SUCH an encouragement to me as I lost my own mom at the age of 16 and have found another mother in the faith. Also, my own children I took in as teenagers and though I was not “mom” right away we have grown in relationship. It is not an easy road but it is the path God set me on. 🙂
    Romans 16:13
Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother—and mine.

  14. 14
    Terri Fullerton says:

    3. David. After the Lord comes and rescues me, our sons will grow healthy and flourish and our daughters will have long lasting strength. Ps 144:12, NIV, “Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.”

  15. 15
    Andrea says:

    1. What king in the Old Testament saw the fingers of a human hand suddenly appear and inscribe to him a message on the wall? What were the four words written on the wall?

King Belshazzar saw the works “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin” written on the wall by the fingers of a human hand.

The entirety of Daniel 5, specifically verse 25: “This is the inscription that was written: Mene, Mene, Tekel Parsin.”

    2. Who were Uz and Buz?

They were two of the eight sons of Abraham’s brother Nahor and his wife Milcah, so that would make them Abraham’s nephews.

Genesis 22:20-23: “Some time later Abraham was told, ‘Milcah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor: Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram), Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph and Bethel. Bethel became the father of Rebekah. Micah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.”

    3. Who in Scripture uses the metaphor of daughters compared to pillars in a palace? What metaphor is used for sons?

David uses that metaphor in Psalm 144. Sons are compared to well-nurtured plants.

Psalm 144:12 “Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nutured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.”

    4. What did Zechariah, the husband of Elizabeth, write on a tablet and what happened after he wrote it?

He wrote, “His name is John”, and his speech was restored to him right after.

Luke 1:63-64 “He [Zechariah] asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John”. Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak, praising God.”

    5. What verse talks about God’s “everlasting arms” and what is He called in the verse?

Deuteronomy 33:27 talks about God’s everlasting arms, and He is called “the eternal God” in the verse.

Deuteronomy 33:27: “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying “Destroy him!””

    6. What extraordinary thing happened on the island of Malta in the New Testament?

Paul was bitten by a viper and nonchalantly shook it off his hand and into the fire. And then nothing happened to him. The viper’s venom had no effect on him whatsoever.

Acts 28:3-6 “Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.” But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.”

    7. In the same set of Scriptures you used for #6, what two erroneous assumptions did the islanders make about the Apostle Paul? (Hint: you’ll see that they changed their minds about their first conclusion.)

First they thought he was a murderer and deserved death, and then when he survived the viper bite they thought he was a god. (See above question for full text.)

    8. What Old Testament prophet was picked up by a lock of his hair and where was he suspended?

Ezekiel was picked up by a lock of his hair by God and suspended between heaven and earth, and in visions he was taken to Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 8:3 “He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.”

    9. What was the context surrounding the man who testified to Jesus that he saw people who looked like trees walking around?

Jesus had just spit on his eyes and put his hands on him to heal him from blindness. Jesus asked him what he saw, and he responded that the people looked like trees walking around. So Jesus put his hands on his eyes again, and that fully restored his vision.

Mark 8:23-25 “He [Jesus] took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.”

    10. What interesting piece of relational information is tucked into a new Testament verse about the mother of a believer named Rufus?

His mother was like a mother to Paul.

Romans 16:13 “Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been like a mother to me, too.”

    Fun! Thanks!

  16. 16
    Terri Fullerton says:

AND ZECHARIAH BLESSED GOD.” Luke 1:63-64 “And he asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they all wondered. Acts 28:2-9 The islanders showed us unusual kindness… a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand… Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects…Paul …healed him. When this had happened, the rest of the sick on the island came and were cured.

    Cara Kriz says:

LOVE LOVE this kind of stuff. Fun thing to do to end the day 🙂

    1. First I’m excited I knew which book in the Bible to find the answer. I remember it from your Daniel study! The King was Belshazzar. The four words were Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin. Daniel 5: 1, 5, 25. King Belshazzar held a great feast for 1,000 of his nobles and drank wine in their presence. 5. At that moment the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and began writing on the plaster of the king’s palace wall next to the lampstand. 25. This is the interpretation of the message: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN.

    2. Uz and Buz: HA! JUST TONIGHT met to discuss week three of The Patriarchs and these two were mentioned. They are Nahor’s sons. Abrahams nephews. Genesis 22:20-21. Now after these things Abraham was told, “Milcah also has borne sons to your brother Nahor: Uz his firstborn, his brother Bua, Kemuel the father of Aram.

    3. King David. Psalm 144:12 Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars.

    4. He wrote: HIS NAME IS JOHN. Luke 1: 63-64. He asked for a writing tablet and wrote: HIS NAME IS JOHN. And they were all amazed. 64. Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God.

    5. Deuteronomy 33:27 The God of old is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He drives out the enemy before you and commands, “Destroy!”

    6. On the island of Malta Paul was bitten by a poisonous snake without any harm being done to Paul from the snake bite. Acts 28: 3 As Paul gathered a bundle of brushwood and put it on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened itself to his hand.

    7. The people thought Paul was probably a murderer. Then they changed their minds and thought he was a god. Acts 28:4, 6 When the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand they said to one another, “This man is probably a murdered, and though he has escaped the seas, Justice does not allow him to live!” 6. They expected that he would swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after they waited a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and decided he was a god.

    8. The prophet was Ezekiel and he was suspended between earth and heaven. Ezekiel 8:3 He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood.

    9. The context is that he was a blind man brought to Jesus for healing. Mark 8: 23-25 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything? 24. He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” 25. Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

    10. She was a mother to Paul too. I assume he means as a mother figure in his life? Romans 16: 13 Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me too.

  24. 24
    valerie says:

    1) King Belshazzar – the words written on the wall were “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin”, which means, “God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end. You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting. Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.” The story is found in Daniel chapter 5, and the words on the wall are described in vs. 25-26.

    2) Uz and Buz were Abraham’s nephews. Gen 22:20-21 Some time later Abraham was told, “Milkah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor: Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother….

    3) I’m guessing it’s David? (I’m using an online version, and it doesn’t have the usual “A Psalm of _____” at the top of each chapter.) Psalm 144:12 “Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.”

    4) He wrote, “His name is John,” and immediately he could speak again. “He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak, praising God.” Luke 1:63-64

    5) Deut 33:27 – He is called our refuge. “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!'”

    6) I don’t know who Paul was sailing with (was it Luke?), but when they became shipwrecked on the island of Malta, Paul was bitten by a snake that came out of the firewood, and the islanders were shocked and declared him a god when he suffered no ill effects from the bite. “Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live. ” But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.” Acts 28:3-6

    7) First, they thought he was a murderer, then they thought he was a god. 🙂 (same verses as above)

    8) Absalom. He was suspended from a tree when his hair got caught in it. 2 Sam 18:9 “Now Absalom happened to meet David’s men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom’s hair got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.” [Well, of course now I see this is wrong. Of course Absalom wasn’t a prophet! Oh well, don’t want to cheat, so I’m leaving my wrong answer! :)]

    9) Jesus and His disciples were in Bethsaida. The people brought a blind man to Jesus in order for him to be healed. That is what the man said he saw when Jesus healed his eyes. Mark 8:22-24 “They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”

    10) She had been like a mother to Paul. Rom. 16:13 “Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.”

    6. What extraordinary thing happened on the island of Malta in the New Testament?
There were 2 things that were mentioned in Acts 28, that they were shown unusual kindness and that Paul escaped death by serpent.
(And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold. (So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, ‘no doubt this man is a murderer, whom though he has escaped the sea yet justice does not allow to live.’ But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. (Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him. He asked him if he saw anything. Easton’s Bible Dictionary – Rufus, the son of Simon the Cyrenian (Mar 15:21), whom the Roman soldiers compelled to carry the cross on which our Lord was crucified. Probably it is the same person who is again mentioned in Rom 16:13 as a disciple at Rome, whose mother also was a Christian held in esteem by the apostle. Mark mentions him along with his brother Alexander as persons well known to his readers (Mar 15:21).

Mark 15:21 – And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.

    9. Jesus took the blind man out of he village. Blind man was healed and this was first thing he saw…Jesus laid on hands on his eyes a 2nd time. Sight was then restored-interesting how it wasn’t clear the first time.
Mark 8:24 “And he looked up and said, ‘I see people, but they look like trees, walking.’”

    Dawn Edgell says:

Beth, thank you so much for doing this. God’s timing is always perfect! I so needed to spend time in His word and this was just what I needed.

    1. King Belshazzar saw the hand that wrote on the wall and the four words that were written were mene, mene, tekel, parsin.

Daniel 5:5-Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the Royal Palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote.

Daniel 5:25-This is the inscription that was written: mene, mene, tekel, parsin.

    2. Uz and Buz were brothers born to Nahor and Milkah. (Love the names!)

Genesis 22:20-21-Some time later Abraham was told, “Milkah is also a mother; she has borne sons to your brother Nahor: Uz the firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel (the father of Aram).

    3. In Psalm 144, David uses the metaphors comparing daughters to pillars in a palace and sons to plants. My first thought was “A pillar!” But the scriptures read beautifully to me with the words “carved to adorn a palace.”

Psalm 144:12-Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

    4. Zechariah wrote the words, “His name is John.” What obedience to God even though he could not speak! As soon as the words were written he was able to speak again.

Luke 1:63-64-He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God.

    5. The verse is Deuteronomy 33:27 and He is called a refuge…(He is MY refuge!)

Deuteronomy 33:27-The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, “Destroy them!”

    6. The islanders had built a fire and as Paul was adding brush to the flames, a snake jumped out of the fire and latched itself onto Paul’s hand. Paul was able to shake the snake off of his hand, back into the fire, without sustaining any injuries at all.

Acts 28:3-Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand.

Acts 28:5-But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects.

    7. They thought Paul was a murderer when the snake jumped out of the fire onto his hand, but when Paul shook the snake off of his hand without being harmed, they decided he must be a god.

Acts 28:4-When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.”

Acts 28:6-The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.

    8. It was the Prophet Ezekiel and he was suspended between heaven and earth.

Ezekiel 8:3-He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. The spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and in visions of God he took me to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes to jealousy stood.

    9. Jesus was healing a blind man by spitting on his eyes and then putting his hands on his eyes. The man was able to see somewhat but his eyesight must have been blurry because he told Jesus he saw people that looked like trees walking around. The second time Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes he was completely healed and could see perfectly.

Mark 8:23-25-He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

    10. That Rufus and Paul were half brothers, having the same mother…or so I thought! The NKJV reads: Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. After a little research and commentary, the NIV version reveals their relationship to one another…Paul thought of Rufus’ mother as a mother figure to him.

Romans 16:13-Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.

I love how this question made me dig deeper to find the answer. There is so much I don’t know about the bible but I know a little more after your little game! 1.King Belshazzar; Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin

Daniel 5:1, 5, 25(ESV) King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand. Immediately the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, opposite the lampstand. And the king saw the hand as it wrote. And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin.

2.Uz and Buz were Abraham’s nephews! (Gives me the itch to adopt a couple of puppies and use these names. Um, unless they did something later in Scripture unbecoming of pups).

Genesis 22:20-21 (ESV)Now after these things it was told to Abraham, “Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor: Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother…

    3. David, in Psalm 144. He prays that our sons, in their youth, be like plants full grown. (ESV)

    Psalm 144:12 (Amp)When our sons shall be as plants grown large in their youth and our daughters as sculptured corner pillars hewn like those of a palace;

4.”His name is John.” And then he was granted speech after being struck mute for doubting. (I think you taught on this on a LT broadcast – I have imitated you imitating Zachariah for my kids & got one to laugh so hard he started hiccuping. Love when he does that.)

Luke 1:63 Then Zachariah asked for a writing tablet and wrote, His name is John. And they were all astonished.

    5. Deuteronomy 33:27 He is called “The eternal God” and my refuge and my dwelling place in Amp & ESV. HCSB calls Him “The God of old” – so poetic.

Deuteronomy 33:27 (Amp) The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He drove the enemy before you and thrust them out, saying, Destroy!

    6. Firstly, Malta is where Paul “landed” after surviving a shipwreck. (The whole story of their journey and the Angel visiting Paul to warn of what would happen and how they’d be delivered is awesome, too.) Anyway, Malta – building a fire with friendly natives on the shore, a viper crawled out from the heat and bit Paul’s hand. Not like a springy bite and release, mind you! Paul had to shake the thing off into the fire right in front of the skeptical natives. He was fine – and stayed awhile healing big-wigs of the island and a lot of locals from fevers & diseases. So, really, A LOT of extraordinary things happened on Malta in the New Testament.

Acts 28:1, 3, 6 (ESV) After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta. When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

    7. That Paul was a murderer, then that he was a god.

Acts 28:1, 4, 6 (ESV)After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta. When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.” They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

    8. Ezekiel; Between earth and heaven.

Ezekiel 8:3 (ESV)He put out the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head, and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the gateway of the inner court that faces north, where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

    9. It’s the testimony of the blind man at Bethsaida after Jesus 1st lays hands on him and asks if he can see anything. This is such a precious story. Can you imagine gaining sight and seeing the face of Jesus? I long for that face.

Mark 8:23-24 (ESV) And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.”

    10. She had been “a mother to [Paul] as well.” What a tender thing to include in the inspired Word. I like when He reminds me that this mothering is Holy Ground. I wonder have I mothered other’s kids unawares.

Romans 16:13 (ESV)Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother, who has been a mother to me as well.

Daniel 5:1, 5-6, 25-28 King Belshazzar held a great feast for 1,000 of his nobles and drank wine in their presence. At that moment the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and began writing on the plaster of the king’s palace wall next to the lampstand. As the king watched the hand that was writing, his face turned pale, and his thoughts so terrified him that his hip joints shook and his knees knocked together. “This is the writing that was inscribed:MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN. This is the interpretation of the message:MENE means that God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end. Thanks Beth, this was a great way to start my Thursday! No. 10 about Rufus’ mother is very thought-provoking. Is this the same Rufus whose father, Simon from Cyrene, was mentioned in Mark 15:21, who was “passing by on his way in from the country”, when he was forced to help carry the cross to Golgotha? If so, then I wonder if it was this interaction with Jesus that changed the course of his family’s life, leading them to Christianity?
