LPL Memphis Recap (Watch this!)

Well. I don’t know much about this past weekend in Memphis because I wasn’t there myself, but I can only imagine how the power of the Holy Spirit showed up simply based on this most excellent recap. I just told Rich this morning, one of our LPL photographers, that this is one of my favorite recaps. And coupled with the song “Awesome” off Travis’ new I’m Living Proof CD, it’s nearly perfect.

So, I don’t know if you normally take the four minutes to watch these recaps or not, but I’d encourage you to stop what you’re doing and watch this one.

If you just sent your Kindergartner off to school for the first time, watch this.

If you showed up to work this Monday morning discouraged again, watch this.

If you are in a season of joy, watch this.

If you are in a season of crushing, watch this.

It’s so good, y’all. Trust me.

I can’t wait to hear about the weekend. Have a happy Monday!

    Thanks for posting recaps.
HE started on me three years ago. But last month, God used Beth at Living Proof Live in Lubbock to spur me on. I had been saying for three years, (ever since my son, who had loved and served his JESUS all his life, one day at age 18, announced that he no longer believed in God and was choosing atheism), that ‘someone’ needed to walk with highschoolers: loving them, teaching them, showing them the authentic character of God, so that they know Him and love Him and don’t walk away from Him when the enemy tells them that HE does not exist. I’d been wanting to act on this for some time, but felt inadequate. I’d been praying and asking Him what He wanted me to do with my life, now that I was no longer employed as an elementary school teacher, and now that my children were grown. I prayed diligently! I didn’t know what to do with myself in my new season of life. Well…this past July, I experienced (for only the second time in my entire life), HIS voice – His spirit to my spirit telling me, “You are a Kindergarten teacher.” I was confused, because I had just recently given up that job, even though I loved it and missed it tremendously. As I asked Him for more clarity, low and behold, I received more clarity: as a kinder teacher, I taught phonemic awareness- letters and sounds and how they worked-the very foundation for reading success…the building block for everything else. In applying that to my passion for the highschoolers, I realized that my vision to teach them and show them the character of our God is ‘foundational’… a building block. Then, two weeks later, I heard Beth at LPL, Lubbock. When, at the very end she asked us to consider why He had brought us there, and what the Holy Spirit was saying to us, I immediately thought to myself, ‘He brought me here to hear that He preordained me with a purpose….to tell me that I have slept in His presence and He is calling my name. Once again, He is telling me that I am a Kindergarten teacher. Then, Beth announced that she would make her way into the audience so that a few people, whoever felt led to speak, could share their answers. And, as many directions as Beth could’ve taken in that big ole United Spirit Arena, she walked up my way. In fact, the last of three ladies who spoke was telling about how she witnessed to strippers as she sold makeup to them. As Beth was standing there holding the microphone for that last lady, her elbow was almost touching my head, ha. Since she was right there, and since I knew without a doubt what my answer was, I decided I would raise my hand to speak next. But as the other lady was finishing, my heart began to pound…it was pounding so hard and so fast, I thought it might possibly bounce right out of my body. With a little tear rolling down my cheek, I whispered under my breath, “I’m sorry Lord, I can’t….I just caaaaaaan’t talk in front of all these people.” I didn’t raise my hand. Beth walked back to the stage, where she finished up her time with us talking about being a teacher. She called for her airplane buddy, Mary, to come up and pray for those who might be feeling commissioned to teach. She gave a few ‘you might be a teacher if’: you enjoy commentaries, enjoy sharing what you’ve learned, like to study, etc. I got teary. Once again, my heart started pounding….like….REALLY pounding…. I was experiencing my own ‘burning bush’. Beth concluded with an exhortation to act on the Spirit’s prompting immediately, and resist procrastination. I went home and told my husband. He asked me what I was waiting for. I acted on it that afternoon. I reconnected via Facebook with 10 young high school girls, all who were in my little kindergarten class 9,10, and 11 years ago. I messaged them and told them I had a God story to tell them, and if they wanted to know more, then come to my house on July 30, which was to be in a couple of weeks. I honestly felt a little embarrassed, because I didn’t think teen girls would want to go to their old kindergarten teacher’s house and talk about God with her. I recognized the enemy’s voice in that, and just prayed for victory over that doubt and lack of faith. There’s so many details, but long story short, 18 girls showed up at my house that night. Our second meeting is in two weeks on September 8. I am praying! Oohhhh how I am praying, because I still don’t know what this time with them is going to look like….but they came on the 30th, and they are coming again on the 8th. They are texting me, asking if they can bring a friend. I am studying like I have never studied before! I have “slept in His presence, and He is calling my name.”

Lynn, I have experienced that heart pounding sensation, where you knew you had to speak up. How exciting that you listened to the Lord’s leading and opened up your home (and your heart) to these girls. May the Lord mightily bless your effort.

      Susan Canham says:

      Lynn,
Thank you so much for posting your comment! It was exciting to read it. I am in a similar season of life – a stay-at-home mom for the most part, with 6 children all grown up and out of the house now – and not really sure what God would have me do now. I am really thinking I should go to the Living Proof Live event in Billings, but it is a 6 hour drive and I don’t have anyone to go with….
Praying for your meeting on Sept. 8 with your girls! You must be a much-loved teacher to have attracted such a large group already 🙂 God is good! Prayers for your son as well.

      • Lynn Miller says:

Aw, Susan….thank you for your prayers. That means so much to me. And I, in turn, will pray for you, that He shows you His plan for you in this new season. I just finished a really wonderful book that you might enjoy: RESTLESS, by Jennie Allen. Though she is young and was probably writing to her own peers of young mothers, a group of us new ’empty nesters’ read it together and spurred each other on to seek His purpose for us in our new season. It was a great read! I will pray, too, that you find a friend to go to the Billings LPL..I’ve been twice, and both times I heard a life-changing message, right out of Beth’s mouth, but straight from the Holy Spirit. You will enjoy!

      Melissa says:

Thank you for sharing your story, Lynn. I don’t have time to go into details, but as I start homeschooling my kids again and am running into discouragement and doubt, your story is encouraging. May God bless your group! How exciting… (I used to be a kindergarten teacher too.) 🙂

      • Lynn Miller says:

Oh, Melissa, what a precious momma you are to homeschool your children. I never did it, but I see younger ones around me doing it, and I see that it is a genuine and full-time labor of love and unselfishness. I will encourage you as my friend encouraged me when I was feeling fearfully inadequate about reconnecting with those girls–she said, “Obey, even in your fear.” So, I pass those words on to you, to obey, even in your doubt and discouragement. Then, watch how quickly HE shows up…I am a living testimony to that! Thank you for praying for us. I will pray for you and your little ones as you begin your new school year! Be blessed!

      Arla says:

Father God You are simply AMAZING. You love us with such an unconditional love and allow us to be a part of that love in sharing with others. How precious to be chosen to minister to these young girls with so much of life ahead of them. father I praise You now for the work You have begun in Lynn and the awesome things that will happen in and through these young lives as they invest their time in YOU. I ask for protection from the enemy. Please guard this time and begin a revival through these young girls that more and more will KNOW YOU as a result. We praise in the mighty name of Jesus.
      Prayers and hugs!!!
      Arla

      • Lynn Miller says:

Oh my! Thank you, Arla, for praying those mighty words over me and these girls. That encourages me like you wouldn’t believe! It is humbling and faith building when people I don’t even know love enough to stop and pray. As I have offered up excuses to God for three years now, I’ve felt a little like Moses with his speech excuses, ha… and when Moses asked for help, the Lord told him that HE already had someone (Aaron) on the way…that’s who you are to me – the someone on the way….thank you!

This is such a wonderful recap of an amazing time of worship and teaching at LPL Memphis!! Thank you for posting highlights. I was so encouraged from the Word Beth shared….especially as I prepare to co-facilitate Children of the Day at my church (in Columbia, MO) this fall. Beth’s dear friend (Johnnie) was so gracious to pray for me and the women who’ll come to the study. At the end of the study may the women leave clothed in worth and dignity and with boldness to tell their stories of what God is doing in their lives! NO ONE leads us to the throne in corporate worship better than Travis – NO one. The new songs were awesome! Having his choir from Englewood Baptist there was such a treat! And the Drum line from Bethel Univ – incredible!!

p.s. will the commissioning be posted here?

Thank you to all who work so hard behind the scenes to make these weekends such a deep well in a dry land!

I am still in shock that I was given the privilege to attend. From the stickers on the side walks to the security cops on bicycles , we were all aware God was going to show up Huge. A young lady that attended with me will be embarking on a world race Sep 4th . 11 countries in 11 months to share the name of Jesus ! Wow what a send off !! Thank you is all I can say over and over again .

Hi Wilma, the first time I watched it I had the same issues. What worked for me was to let it download all the way before watching it, and then it never cut off. You also might try watching it in another browser instead of internet explorer if that’s an option. I hope that helps!

      Lindsee says:

Hi Brenda! Because I was not there I am taking a wild guess but, Travis brought his choir from church along with him this weekend and so I am almost certain those men were a part of the choir. So awesome!

Lindsee — you are totally right! The EBC choir had special shirts for the event. So cool.

      JOANNA says:

The men wearing I’m Living Proof t-shirts were in our Englewood choir where Travis is worship pastor. We are so blessed to get to lead worship with him and to have the opportunity to experience the LPL in Memphis was just icing on the cake. So grateful.

    Cheryl Anderson says:

My 4 sisters and I met in Memphis to do this and have a little reunion. It was a God-blessed time of healing and growth for us. The prayer session at the end was especially meaningful. One of my sisters lost her husband and then her son to cancer within 3 years. She is still grieving 5 years later. So the prayer for widows was spot-on. And the time of affirmation when we spoke words of truth to each other, led by Beth, was so helpful. Thanks!

Lindsee, Are the actual LPL videos available to purchase? Or, are they somewhere on line to be viewed? I attended the one in Lubbock, and so would like to hear it again as I review my notes.

      Lindsee says:

Hi Lynn, more often than not they are not made available. Every now and then we will use one as a resource, but we don’t know that until a couple months after the event. Your best bet is to call the LPM office to see what they’re doing with that event!

The recap can’t being to show what happened this weekend. As the song says: Everything must come down, every stronghold shall be broken-IT HAPPENED!!! All the prayers for the city of Memphis were being answered. The people were open & hungry to hear the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Never did so much ministering at 1 time. It was a blast to be used that way by God!

  26. 26
    Deborah says:

LOVE the video! The weekend was incredible & I haven’t come down nor do I intend to! I would love to have the words that Beth had us speak over each other near the end of the conference … ENCOUNTER! Is there any way to get those??

  27. 27
    Lee Ann says:

    Lindsee,

I was at Memphis and it was AMAZING!!! Truly there are no words to describe it- God showed up in a big way. Tears streamed down my face as 9,500 voices were praising Him at once. I kept thinking, “Wow! Heaven is going to be so wonderful!”. Also, I kept thinking how our city needs an outpouring of God. I say that without condemnation, as I need it too, daily in fact!

Beth’s gift is incredible. I would be so humbled to have a sliver of her talent and anointing. God has blessed her with the gift of teaching in a mighty way. Ha! I am preaching to the choir here, huh?

I have been replaying the words over in my mind and reading thru my notes. Footholds are so hard to shake off at times, and you feel so much stronger when you stomp. (this was part of her message).

Thank you to each of you ladies (and gentlemen?) who work at LPL, and help bring the word and truth to so many ladies who are hungry. We love you all and are so very thankful for all of your hard work. Nothing that moves people as greatly as this weekend did is done without major work and major prayer!

Wow- this looks like it was a great weekend. For whatever reason, I was OVERWHELMED by the thought that you and the team do this weekend after weekend, Beth. I can’t even imagine the dependence on God this must take. And then how you pour into your family, your friends, the staff at LPL, your church family, and all of us!!! Only God. Rest in Him, sweet momma. That’s all I can say. I’m so thankful for your obedience…

Thank you Beth Moore for your passion for Christ. I just finished watching living Beyond yourself session 3 DVD because I missed it in my church bible study. I have been so freed up from your words today. I had a huge family rejection at 10 years old and have kept it in the emotional closet, so to speak, until today. Thank you Jesus and think you Beth for reminding me that love never fails! And that my rejection can being light to others!

This was an amazing conference. Watching this video rekindled God’s Word that I heard during those two days. Thank you so much.

P.S. I am trying to stop telling myself how stupid I am every time I look in the mirror. I thought I was the only one that did that and then Beth mentioned it from the stage. Oh my, only by God’s power and grace can I break free from this stronghold of self destructive thoughts.
