Because sometimes you just need to laugh…

I’m not sure how many of you have jumped on the Pinterest bandwagon, but it’s a fun website that, in my words, can only be explained as an online cork-board. (You “pin” things you’re “interested” in on boards you’ve created. Confused yet?) Does anybody still actually own a cork-board? You might be my hero if so. Truthfully, it is one of those websites that if used in moderation or correctly, it’s very neat, but on the flip side, it can easily become another waste of time, or worse, a comparison trap to make you incredibly discontent with the things you don’t own, the way your house isn’t decorated, the clothes you’ll never own, or the recipes you’ll never master. You’re also liable to sit down and browse and the next thing you know, you’ve spent two hours pinning items you’ll never look at again.

In fact, I saw this definition of Pinterest on Pinterest and I couldn’t help but laugh.

Funny.

Here’s the deal, I’m not dogging Pinterest in any way, shape or form, I have my own account that I am very fickle with. I’ll go weeks without ever logging on, and then in a split second, I’ll waste two hours browsing one day. I need some pinterest balance in my life. We just all have to remind ourselves that it is simply a fun website. One day, honestly, it will be non-existent.

However, there have been times when I’ve been going about my Pinterest business, and I’ll run across the most hilarious picture or quote. It makes me terribly happy. Because after all, sometimes you just need to laugh. Amen?

So today I thought we all could use a laugh or two, so without further ado, allow me to share a few pins off of my “Makes Me Laugh” Board.

I sure hope it makes you laugh, too.

I only wish my mom had originally sent me this text. Brilliant. And had me rolling.

If you have a preschooler, you get this…

Being a chocolate chip lover myself, this speaks my language.

Caution: Ankle Biting Snakes

This here picture needs no further explanation.

Truth. If only I could wash my face as graceful as the models do. It’s an impossible task.

Admit it…

Happy Thursday, y’all.

Thank you Lindsee. Some of those did make me snicker, and I needed a laugh today because my best friend just got some very bad news from the doctor.

Delightful! Thanks, Lindsee. I am not on pinterest because of the time I know I could spend on it. Then, I’ll never do the things I pin. Just the truth. Some people have the do-it-yourself thang going on. I owned my lack-there-of a few years ago. Now I ask friends for help. Way better for me!

I adore pinterest. Truly, truly … I have so much fun with it. And have even actually made a decent percentage of the things I’ve pinned. If .0074% is considered decent?

The whale made me LOL! I had to turn around immediately and text it to my daughter. Who appreciates things like that! πŸ™‚

I have the same relationship with Pinterest, weeks when I never visit and then waste a couple of hours! I have found a couple of recipes that I have in fact made and enjoyed. But of course most of the things I pin are wonderful ideas that I will never have enough time or talent to attempt!

    Thanks for sharing!

Pinterest so true so true. Actually tho I use a lot of things that I’ve pinned on or had friends pin on. Vinegar and Apple Dawn for a clean all. Palmolive olea dish soap and sugar for hand scrub. Baskets for organization instead of stuffing in drawers. A friend did her daughters wedding from wine bottles and pant and jars with rock and candles. But love it. Thanks for the laugh love the little dog’s hair.

I am addicted to Pinterest! After dinner when the kitchen is cleaned up, I get my laptop and sit in my recliner next to my husband and check e-mail, FaceBook and then Pinterest. I’ve pinned so much that I’ve had to start making sub-boards. My “Food Album” became “Main Dishes; Lemon Everything; Chcocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate; Salads; Side Dishes; Appetizers; Breads; Breakfast, Soups, etc. It became too difficult to look for a specific recipe through 1500 of them! I’ve made a lot of recipes — some are now favorites. I saw something in a laundry room and got my husband to build something similar. I’ve even tried the two teabags steeped in hot water to clean my hardwoods (they looked great) — have you seen that pin? I even have Beth Moore talks pinned! πŸ™‚

I don’t think of it as wasting time — watching television is a waste of time. Pinterest gives me ideas and it’s fun to go to the actual websites that have what you pinned and read them.

If you ever see anything inappropriate on Pinterest, make sure you hit the REPORT button. They are great about blocking the, once reported. So sad that evil creeps in every nook and cranny of our lives.

I have a cork board mounted above my desk with a french memo board under it! The cork board has bling – pretty tiles & stones around the edge! Yes, I’m old.

Thank you so much for the grins and belly laughs today!

    Lindsee-
Those are cute! Yes, I have 3 real corkboards and a real calendar. I’m not completely relying on my iPhone & iPad calendars yet.
I don’t do pinterest. I read they were sinful and led to wanting too many material goods. Don’t know if that’s true or if the author needed to lighten up a little.
    Like you said, “moderation.” πŸ™‚
    See you Tuesday.

I did need to laugh! How did you know? My sister has preschoolers *and* a new snake in the house (no ankles bitten yet), so I forwarded it to her too.

The ironic thing about the last one is that I just returned from physical therapy because of an injury incurred when I struck my ankle on the metal bedframe returning from the bathroom in the middle of the night. And I wasn’t even running!!

My dear Lindsee, I use pinterest a lot for the teaching ideas. Great ideas from other teachers. I get on about twice a week so I don’t get sucked into the virtual world. Just want you to know that we love that sweet little pup with her hair so much that the picture made it into our 2012 hardbound scrapbook. Makes me smile! Love ya, Lynda

That is awesome, Lynda! And yes, if I were a teacher, I’d be using it for those ideas, too. Little known fact, I went to school to be a teacher. True story! So, I often dream about what my classroom would look like. Blessings to you today!

I like Pinterest! I won’t get on it for a week, and then I find myself sitting with my laptop next to my husband reading all those “funnies” and laughing my head off!

    Lindsee-

Lol, you are not alone πŸ™‚ I too love a little Pintrest. Loved and shared your facial cleanser meme. I’ve been saying that for years!! I wondered if I were the only one that noticed! I’ve even tried it, lol….water down the arms, face still full of cleanser, and a messy sink area. πŸ˜› was my only result.

My husband hates it. During the big football games last weekend he said “I really wanna see this game so Parker no jumping around the living room, no Daddy can I? Daddy can we”? To which I replied ” yes Parker, this is a big game (for my 49niner fan husband) so lets let Daddy watch it” THEN my husband said “and you little miss….can you please Pintrest quietly without showing me “something cool I just have to see” every five minutes that we’re never going to really do in the first place”

    Guilty!! πŸ™‚

Those are so cute! I actually just cleaned out my ‘Following” list on Pinterest. I am trying to get it back to the original purpose for me; a place to collect my ideas and recipes. It has turned into a list of things I need to do to be happy or like everyone else and I need to stop that. So timely post for me!

What a fun post!! I do have Pinterest.. and sometimes I can go days and never ever log on.. and others well…. I won’t admit to the time that was wasted. One day I realized that if I would “make” something I pinned for every 10 things that I pinned… my house would be decorated and organized my closet would be overhauled, I would have lost 25 lbs, I would be a gourmet cook and I would have pinned my pictures & tutorials to go along with all I have done!

And no…. none of that has happened. HA!!

I adore Pinterest and like many, had to find my balance, after an initial obsession with it. The best thing I’ve used it for are to gather the awesome quotes and collect them in that one place, so now I use them in the calendars and scrapbooks I make every year. I even label the boards “Quotes 2012, Quotes 2013″ etc so I”m sure not to reuse them. I also made a board called ” I just might try this” and after a “session of pinning” I wont get back on, until I’ve tried at least one of them. Finally, I stay away from doing searched on clothes etc and stay focused on FAITH searches to be encouraged, and I love me some organization and have found awesome tips on how to tame cords, toys etc. Of course, I have a Made me smile board too!
( I also have 4 real cork boards in my home and they are smothered with photos because I love being surrounded by the faces that make me smile form the inside out! < Lacy

Oh, that was so fun! Esp the whale/baby whale! I guess I’m the last person on the planet to find out about Pinterest – the couple times I’ve been on I’ve thought it was fun – but I haven’t really figured out how to use it, etc. I could see where the addiction factor might be an issue though πŸ™‚
