WE MADE IT!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!! To the glory of God, we made it, Siestas! If I could hug your neck, I’d purely squeeze you in two! Please picture me (in a long skirt) doing copious cheerleader jumps! I cannot wait to celebrate with as many of you as possible in January. I wish with all my heart that every single one of you were coming. This girl right here is ready to party. Even one of you missing is too many but I know that it’s hard to manage the time away and the travel expenses are also just too high for many. I’d pay every one of your ways if I could.
Okay, you darling things. I didn’t even have to think twice about the verse I wanted to memorize this last time around in 2011 because it’s about you. With your understanding, I’ll use “sister” instead of “brother.” Here goes:
Beth, Houston. For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my [sister], because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.” Philemon 7 ESV
Oh, gracious. That is the truth.
Now, since this is a very special occasion, we’re going to break protocol. This time I’m not going to limit you to your usual 1st and 15th Scripture-only entries. As we wrap up our year, you are welcome to also write a brief paragraph about what this journey with Christ has meant to you and why. No pressure. The invitation is simply there is you want to testify.
You are so incredibly dear to me, Siestas. I am at a loss for words. What a ride.
Lord Jesus, thank You, thank You, thank You, thank You! We cannot do anything to Your good pleasure that You do not first initiate and then enable. To You be all credit, honor, and praise. Please cause us to retain “the implanted word, which is able to save [our] souls.” (James 1:21) Make us wiser and make our hearts larger. You are our delight. We want so much to be Yours, too. You are our everything.
Hollie, Mount Vernon
“Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
Philemon 7, NIV
I can’t believe that I made it. I am amazed by what God has been able to do through His scripture to me, for me, etc. So thankful for this journey! I have loved digging into my Bible more and having more pieces of it, solid in my heart and mind. My spiral is a little worn, though. 🙂 Thank you for your encouragement and faithfulness!

‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 NASV
I’m sorry I am so late, I have been trying to think of what I could possibly say in one paragraph about what this has meant to me this past year. I have been battling advanced cancer for a very long time. When you first posted the idea, I was too weak to even read and understand the instructions. I wanted so badly to be a part of it, and God led me to my first verse. That verse turned out to be a lifeline to me, when my situation changed mid-January and it looked like I was dying. But my verse was Exodus 14:13, and I clung to that for several months while my husband cried and gave up. Now, I am so much better and have great hope. I wasn’t able to keep up perfectly, but I will forever make memorizing scripture a precious part of my life, and pass the gift on to everyone I get the chance to share and teach the same. As soon as I get a chance, I will write and tell you more. We don’t have the money to make the trip, my therapy has completely destroyed our finances. But I have gained a closeness to the Lord that I wouldn’t trade for all the money in the world. Much love to you Beth, you are such a blessing.
Kathy, West Milton
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Colossians 4:2 NIV
This year was my first year to be apart of memory scripture. It was amazing how the Lord used each verse to be so important in my life. There were alot of changes for me this year and these verses got me through some rough times. I want to do this next year. I am so thankful to you Beth, you will never know how much you mean to me. I thank the Lord for you and I will pray for you and your ministry. Thank you Beth.

You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing. Psalm 16:2 NIV
Thank you Beth for doing this, otherwise I would not be memorizing verses. And, this time I was successful in keeping up and doing it. I think it is the little binder I bought from Living Proof! Please do it again, when I tried with my own purchased from the store, I just didn’t keep up. Memorizing these verses has impacted my life in a huge way. Thanks again for hosting this and having the memory binder!
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know Him who is true, and we are in Him who is true, In His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. (1 John 5:20 NKJV)

Those who know your name trust in you, for you , Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10 NIV
Reading through some of the replies there is one existing theme-all of our lives have troubles and hills and valleys. But we all know the one sustainer to see us through all of this-and memorizing scripture helps keep us closer to that one sustainer-thanks to the SSMT and LPM blog for providing an outlet for that purpose.
Merry Christmas to all!

THANK YOU for this journey. Not only has this strengthened my faith, but it gave me some wonderful accountability to keep working on scripture memory. I have long desired someone to memorize scripture with and I am so thankful for the technology that allows us to do that together. Looking forward to seeing you next month!

“Though He was God, He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up His divine privileges; He took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being….” Philippians 3:6-7 NLT
Thank you, Beth & ALL of you Siestas, for the encouragement to keep going with memorizing scripture this year. It has been a year of growing through tough trials for me personally and I don’t know where I would have been without God’s promises anchored to my mind and heart on a daily and sometimes hour by hour basis.
Merry Christmas and may the Lord richly bless you all!

How can I get a copy of all the scriptures shared? I have gone through so much and did not participate as often as I would have liked. I have read many posts and would like to go back to the beginning to get the older scripture’s.
The beauty and love of CHRIST was evident, what a blessing you all are!! Merry Christmas, Blessed New Year!!

Cannot wait to celebrate our year together in Texas! Thank you for motivating me to become closer to God’s word. God bless you Beth and the LPM team!! Wish I could work with you all! 🙂
Dear Beth,
I saw your post on Weds w/ Beth about “your arms being filled with more treasures than the enemy stole from you”
Right now, my arms feel empty, my heart heavy. My children are not walking with the Lord and choosing wrong paths. I am battle weary; like King David’s men that one time. I could really use some Christian sisters (siestas) to lift my family up this Christmas. I pray with the new year to come that my kids’ hearts will be redeemed and restored to Him. What joy would fill my heart to hear that they are walking with the Lord.
Thanking in advance for those who will pray as I am also praying for others.
Merry Christmas!

Well we just finished the Revelation study. My sister, Sharron Skinner, and I remembered when you said you did not like Read the Bible Through plans because you were reading about the 4 Horsemen at Christmas. Well, thanks to this wonderful study through you by the Holy Spirit, we studied about the tree of life with its monthly fruits, a more wonderful tree than anyone’s Christmas one. Merry Christmas, Beth, to you and all your sweet family. We pray that the Lord will continue to bless us with the James study.

Well…after 12 years of Lyme disease and being bed and house-bound often, God healed me this year! He also brought me through 2 knee replacement surgeries so that I will hopefully be able to walk again on my own soon. Based on the direction He has been giving me in His Word, through this Scripture process, He has greatly encouraged me and I have a hope of His goodness that lies ahead.

2010 brought personal events that shook me to my core, and as I began 2011, I purposed in my heart to hide 24 scriptures in my heart. Unfortunately, 2011 is ending with me feeling broken, condemned, and yet, I am so thankful for the 24 Promises that are hidden in my heart, treasures because I know I can trust God’s Words, that they have power, that He is able to keep the promises. All praise to His Holy Name.

Praise the Lord! I made it! There were certainly some late entries (including this one!), but I have successfully memorized 24 verses, and I will certainly be doing it next year! Thank you for the opportunity to learn together! Obeying the Lord through memorizing His word has made me more aware of His presence in my life and I have been able to combat the devil with His Word! Merry Christmas!

“Set a guard over my mouth, LORD;

When we moved to Abu Dhabi in April, two things happened. 1. Beth prayed the most awesome prayer on this site sending us out (& God has really used us — especially my hubby)and 2. Because of misinformation, I didn’t bring my nifty multi-colored spiral that I bought especially for this. As a result, I’ve used “Sticky Notes” on my work laptop and personal laptop. I cannot tell you what a blessing it has been, especially on difficult days, to look at my desktop filled with Scripture sticky notes and snack on the Word of God in the day. They have literally been my salvation on some days! Others have seen them, too, so they make quite a conversation piece!
I won’t be at the celebration but, Beth & Co., please know how grateful to God I am for you and for my amazing siestas out there!!!

The scripture memory for 2011 has been wonderful. God used many of my verses to help get me through a difficult season in life and for that I am very thankful! 🙂

Beth, thank you for giving me this challenge the past year, as it has turned out to be a real spiritual life saver. I’ve had many health problems which left me homebound for most of the year.Spending time in God’s Word has truly been medicine to my soul. My memory verses look like a road map asking for wisdom, then flickers’s of surrender through praise, and then the beginnings of recognizing God’s always in control.
Due to a brain injury I have a very difficult time with memorization. I’ve plastered my home with the Word’s of God so that I can read it throughout the day. Even though I can’t wait to close the curtains on 2011, I’ll always remember how God used this ministry in my time of need to strengthen my faith by helping me see His Word in a new light.
