    Hey there Siesta Mama,
I love it when you stop by to say hello! I have started memorizing scripture a few times but got discouraged and gave up. So I am going to take the advice and encouragment you have given so sweetly and try again. May I say Happy Birthday to Amanda! I hope your time of celebrating together will be very fun and very blesssed! I will get those prayers for Melissa going and have been very much in prayer for the Passion Conference. I just love the idea of adopting someone to pray for. May I also say that God turned a very big light on for me this week.
Just when I think I couldn’t love Jesus more, He turns a light on and I fall in love so much more deely than before. Isn’t He awesome?! Grin.
    Love ya! M

Hello Sister! I had the same problem with memorizing, BUT I found a wonderful web tool to help, so I wanted to share.wwwmemorizehisword.com I have never memorized this easily, it teachs 3 different methods at once.
I pray you have blessed success! You will love it!

      • Michele says:

        Hey y’all!
That Memorize His Word website looks good. I have never tried that software, but the site design is impressive. Lynne, I would love to hear what techniques they teach you.

Anyhow, I noticed that their software is not free. If anyone doesn’t have room in the budget for that, you are welcome to check out the tips I posted on my blog. I have not finished polishing the format yet, but I hope they are helpful.

Feel free to check them out. There are 3 parts, click the link at the bottom of each page to go to the next page.

Thanks for the updates! If I might just take a tiny moment to tell you all about our bible study Tuesday night. We are doing David and finished session 5. With tears flowing, I asked the ladies if they would like to finish our prayer time in the sanctuary. We left all our belongings, books, purses, pens, bibles laying on the table and quietly tip-toed past our husbands bible study room, and headed to the sanctuary. Powerful, powerful prayers of thanksgiving and confession were lifted up that night. It was honestly, a mighty moment of God’s presence! Somberly we filed out of the sanctuary only to hear the delight of our husbands say, “Oh, good, there you are. We went looking for you ladies and couldn’t find anyone. We were afraid the rapture had taken place and we men were all left behind!”
Our God is so awesome, isn’t He? He delighted us all so much that night. I too just wanted to sit down and talk face to face with another Siesta, and here you all are! Thanks for allowing me a moment to share!

Thanks for greeting us via video occasionally. It’s so fun to catch up. I’m not sure that I will make it to SSMT in January ๐Ÿ™ but even though I’ll miss being with the group the greatest benefit is the wealth of Bible verses that I now have memorized – something that I wouldn’t have accomplished without this challenge. The Siestas are such a great group. Thanks Beth!

    Dana says:

You are a jewel! I cannot wait for the James study to be out. I thank God that He raised you up to become the teacher you are. I hungered to know Him more. I hungered to go deeper in His Word but had no idea how to do that until I went to Lifeway with a girlfriend to pick up a Bible study for several women to do in my home…they did not have the one we were going to get but my girlfriend said we could get a Beth Moore Bible Study – and boy did my life change after that! I will always remember “Jesus the One and Only” – we didn’t have the money to buy the videos – we bought a few books. I will always remember sitting in my dining room and doing an introduction when a woman knocked on my front door and said “I heard you were doing the new Beth Moore Bible study here – can I join you?” Wow!!! She heard women talking about it at the school where our children went. When we mentioned to her that we don’t have the videos, just the workbooks, she chimed in and said she knows a woman who has the videos and was sure we could borrow them! Yup – the next week we had the videos and completed that study together. It was a wonderful study that helped me through a very difficult period and the other ladies in the group as well. Oh, how I love Jesus and grew to love Him more through that study and all of the others that have followed. So, thank you, Beth Moore, for allowing the LORD to use you to teach women…especially me.

HELP!!! I am so frustrated that for the last several months, whenever I try to play one of the Vimeo videos, there is no sound! Does anyone know what I can do to correct the problem? Is it just me and my computer? I went to the Vimeo website but couldn’t find any help there.

    • 62.1
      Lindsee says:

Terry, I am so sorry and have no idea what the problem is. Does it work on the vimeo website? There may be some connection off, but you’re the first I’ve heard that’s had a problem with this. I hope it gets resolved soon!

      • Mona says:

The video plays great on my computer at work…but not at home. I get sound, though stuttery, and no video unless I move the mouse back and forth over the picture. My computer savvy husband says that it’s the video card – there’s just not enough memory. It’s probably the same for others having problems.

      • I have a lot of wires and things by my computer and somehow mine got unplugged once. You might check that before you do anything fancy:) Felt like an idiot when I figured this out. Gee, do you think you might want to plug in the speakers! Ha ha!

SO precious Siesta Momma! Adore you and love hearing about your life. I am no Beth Moore but I do have a sweet, sweet husband and 2 adorable daughters that are growing up (12 and 9). We are getting closer and closer everyday and I cherish the sweet mother/daughter bond that God has blessed me with. I love hearing about what you and your girls do at this stage of your life together. I am definitely still mom but can absolutely see our relationship turning in to the best of friends down the road … brings sweet tears to my eyes.

I so needed to hear your SSMT word today. I really felt like you were talking just to me from the other side of the screen…especially since you addressed your Lindsee several times behind the camera. Hehe. I have fallen behind, and highly regarded the advice to memorize a chunk of Scripture. Yes, very doable. I am also energized after listening to your Session 6 video from Believing God last night (I’m leading the study at my church this fall). You were particulaly charged up in that video session and it’s contagious!
    Thank you so much!

Oh, you sweet thing! Thanks for such a great “good morning” Beth. I so love your enthusiasm for Jesus, for your family, for life and for your siestas! Love the idea of live streaming! Maybe we can even chat along (sort of like the tech chat from the simulcast.)Although that might be a little harder to accomplish. Just now starting the scripture memorizing (just joined Siestaville last month) so don’t think I’ll be able to make it to the January gathering. Hope you will do it again next year. Enjoying your Revelation study right now. They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lambe will overcome because He is Lord of lords and King of kings…and with him will come his called, chosen and faithful followers. (I did that from memory!) Yay! Hugs & blessings today. Enjoy the time with your sweet girls!

Is anyone else having trouble viewing this video? I’ve tried to view it several times and it keeps freezing about 30-40 seconds into the video. Mama Beth, Thank you so much for posting on here, today. It brought tears to my eyes (normally the tears are because I am laughing so hard, but today, because of the love!) I really needed that today. It just touched my heart. Thank you for being our “Mama” and encouraging us and keeping us accountable in God’s Word. I (we) love you for that!!!
CANNOT WAIT to do the “live” thing with you and all our Siestas!!!

I am a bit embarrassed to tell you this, but I thought you would think it’s really funny…Had a dream the other night that I accidentally bumped into you somewhere, while you were speaking, and you saw me and knew it was me and said let’s get our picture taken.
Now before anyone gets all mushy or anything that I was having such a sweet dream about you..I left the building, turned the corner, (in the dream) and saw Andy Griffith standing on the corner, and got my picture taken with him, too!
I just thought you’d get a kick out of you… AND Andy Griffith!

I am so excited for the SSMT celebration in January. Last time I was the only one from my church, but this year we have about a dozen who are memorizing scriptures. I have moved away as well as one other person, but come January we will all be together for a great weekend!!! So excited. (By the way Beth, your hair looks really good in this video!)

Thanks Beth, I needed to hear from you today. Been fighting the “blues” all week and your encouragement to find a chapter or group of scriptures to catch up is exactly what the Lord needed me to hear. Isn’t He Wonderful?!

On a side note, I had an appointment for a wax this morning unfortunately I had shaved and plucked yesterday so was bummed when my phone charmed and reminded me. My dear sister in Christ cut my hair instead. That time in her chair was wonderful and I confessed to her and a sister in the shop that I “stalk” you via siestaville blog. We had a good laugh and they should be tuning in real soon.

    Have fun celebrating Amanda’s birthday.

Love you Mama Siesta! Boy do I love it when you praise God in your family life! Great to hear about all these things. And, so good to hear about Keith being a good and faithful son to his Momma and Daddy!

I know you saw a pre-screen of Courageous, but we here in Portland were MOVED by it! Woo, Mama, this was the first time I have ever seen a movie in Portland, Oregon where people stood up and clapped praise to God when it ended. THEN, the Spirit moved folks to pray in groups in the parking lot immediately afterwards! My, my, my, God is surely up to something here in the dark Northwest! May His light continue to overcome the darkness here and thanks be to Jesus for the opportunity to be a part of it! Yes! God is faithful!!!

    Hey Miss Beth!
Loved hearing from you today! Fun updates! But most of all, just hearing you talk about Jesus revs me up to spend more time with him! Love ya and praying for you and the rest of you Siestas! ~Lyndsay

Hopefully, I can remember what I was going to say. I had to leave right after watching the video because my son called from football practice, cause Coach Albrecht told him to go home. Of course he did! Jeremiah had thrown up, poor kid. And we just had the stomach flu go through our family! I even got it and I NEVER get sick! Anyway, I think it is so cool that Mercy Triumphs is coming out on my daughter’s Birthday! I wish so much that I could do this study, but I don’t have a church that does these book studies and there is no way I can buy the book and the videos! But Angela’s birthday is so cool this year because she will be turning 11 on 11/1/11! Isn’t that fun? Josh is wanting to do a party for her and had talked about having it start at 11:11 am! I’m pretty sure it was going to be am! I’m certainly not entertaining 11-year-old girls at 11:11 pm!!!!! Obviously, that can’t happen, cause it’s a weekday and she has school! But it was a cool thought anyway!!!!

I wish I could tell you I’m doing well, but I’m not ๐Ÿ™ I have been trying to work through a whole lot of stuff from my past that I have never healed from. I’ve never been allowed to grieve. I’ve even at times in the past had it suggested to me that Christians are not supposed to grieve. I know we don’t grieve like those who have no hope, but I do believe we grieve. I don’t think we can help it. If something or someone we have lost is important to us, it’s going to hurt to lose it. I have a lot of lies that I believe and have been under a huge amount of spiritual warfare as I’ve tried to combat the lies. My head gets so confused sometimes I can’t think straight at all! Many of the siestas on twitter have been helping me, and one particular siesta has been emailing me back and forth a lot! However, I’m having a particular amount of stress and pain in the last several days, and have literally not slept a wink in almost 72 hours!!! I am exhausted! I hope I’m healing. I hope this is not all for naught. I have not been able to get counseling. I tried to see a couple of lay counselors and ended up not really being listened to at all and they were rather harsh in the way they treated me. Very cold and distant and no compassion whatsoever! It was killing me! Almost literally at one point ๐Ÿ™ It was awful! I’ve been going through Beth’s Breaking Free book. I did the study years ago, so this is more review for me than anything, but I am doing the memory work for it, which I didn’t do before, because I was so frustrated with my inability to memorize scripture. With the help of SSMT I am memorizing scripture now and am working on Is 61:1-4 right now. I got the first 3 down pretty well, but I’m having trouble with verse 4, I think largely because my head is so jumbled right now. Please pray for me!

…The piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby.

…Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive.

…The lady behind me in church who sings off key because it means I can hear.

My daughter and I have been faithfully memorizing our verses this year. It has been such a blessing to be in the Word and committed to a schedule. Thanks for initiating it!
We would love to come to Houston for the big celebration in January, but two things are preventing us.
    1. Finances.
    2. Fickle weather. We live in Iowa and never know what the road conditions will be like in January.
If you ever do this again, would it be possible to have the final meeting in the spring when weather wouldn’t be an issue for us northern gals?
I love you. You make me smile and bring so much encouragement to my walk with Christ.
