Passion 2012: One Thousand Women

Hey, Everybody! I hope you’ll have a chance to watch the video about something exciting God has placed upon our hearts at Living Proof but I wanted to make sure that you also have the information confirmed here in writing. Questions are usually answered better in print and I want this to be so clear that we can respond to God with tremendous praise and prayer.

Many of you are familiar with the Passion Conferences that God has used wildly among 18-25 year-olds for well over a decade. (If you’re not, see 268generation.com to learn all about it. You’ll love it.) God placed the vision in the faithful hands of Louie and Shelley Giglio and they have continued a long obedience in the same direction to see God’s name and renown become the desire of many hearts in the rising generations. God has shown outlandish favor on these events and He alone knows exactly why but this is the feeling that I get every time I observe a Passion gathering: He likes it. He likes coming to it. He likes brooding over it. He likes filling it. His glory is jealously guarded and His fame is generously spread. God also has the open invitation to reach into lives at one of the most strategic seasons of all. At what age are people more inclined to make completely life-altering plans and decisions?

Imagine what would happen if God completely captivated thousands of lives in that 18-25 year range and ruined them for settling for less than God had in mind when He created them. What if nothing less than the flagrant fame of Jesus Christ became their life ambition? That’s what has happened thousands of times over at Passion Conferences through the years. At these events, the wholly surrendered life in Christ is captured for what it really is: the most exhilarating adventure available for human flesh and blood. It is the offer to live for something so much greater. It is the offer for a life that matters here long after we’ve vacated this planet.

Last year at Passion 2011, Louie announced that God had challenged him to ask for the Georgia Dome for Passion 2012 (January 2-5 in Atlanta). That means we don’t have to sell out of seats and can open the doors to tens of thousands more. We were ecstatic. Within that first 24 hours, God moved on my heart to sponsor 1000 young women to attend in 2012.

1000 women who’d never been before.

1000 women who could not otherwise go.

I’ve waited all these months to tell you about it and, finally, the time is right. These next couple of months will be the time frame for the conference to climb on the radar of many young lives. LPM is launching this 1000 Women campaign in your honor and we would love to do it with your participation through prayer. It is my great hope that you would take ownership over the campaign, too, and get completely involved. What could be more fitting than for a women’s ministry to sponsor young women to attend something that has the very real potential to change the course of their lives and the rhythm of their hearts?

Here’s how the eligibility works for these 1000 scholarships. Each applicant must meet the following requirements (and, so sorry, but no exceptions!):
*A woman between the ages of 18 and 25. (Next week you’ll see that we are going to issue a challenge to other ministries, churches, and organizations and hopefully many of them will also scholarship young men. God seemed very clear in His leadership that our 1000 LPM scholarships were supposed to be entirely for women. It’s a form of mentoring and mothering, so to speak, as we seek to be intentional in investing in the next generation according to Scripture.)

*She has never attended a Passion gathering before. (This does not include concerts. I’m just talking about an actual Passion gathering on this prerequisite.)

*She would be completely unable to attend without a scholarship. In other words, if the young woman or her parents can come up with the money – even if sacrificially – let’s please retain these 1000 scholarships for others who cannot.

If this is resonating with you, here’s how you can get involved:

*Help get the word out to young women who meet the exact criteria for the LPM scholarships to Passion 2012. Please think about those who could not attend otherwise.

*Start praying for the event right away. These are tomorrow’s leaders and they will powerfully impact our lives as well as those who come up behind them. Also be watching for an opportunity to “adopt” one of our scholarship recipients to pray for throughout the event. We will give you an official way to sign up as an intercessor for a specific recipient after our scholarships are largely filled and we’ll also suggest some ways to direct your prayers. Look for these sign-ups to pop up here on the LPM blog in November but I will keep you very up to date on the progress of our 1000 Women campaign as we go.

And that’s all there is to it! You’re such a gracious people that I already know up front that some of you will ask if you can give financially toward this fund. If God undeniably presses that upon your heart, you are welcome to. (It would be part of our Siesta Scholarship Fund.) HOWEVER, we have already joyfully made the financial commitment at LPM and we are not asking for any donations. Since we’re deeply committed to these 1000 scholarships, if you do have extra dollars in your pocket in these hard financial times, we’d more readily suggest that you go out there and find someone – male or female – of that age group who wants to go to Passion 2012 but can’t afford it. Send them! And, remember that many could use the extra help for travel and lodging. Our 1000 Women campaign is limited to ticket scholarships and not for further expenses, as much as I wish we could do the whole megillah.

You game?? Wooohoooo! ME, TOO!!!!!

Get out there and find those women, Siestas! Here is the link for scholarship registration. Make sure they know the qualifications! All applicants need to go through this link for Passion 2012 scholarships. It is a separate feature that we’ve created in partnership with the Passion staff. Applicants will receive an email confirmation directly from Passion, letting them know that they have received the scholarship application and that it is being processed. Within a matter of days, they will receive another email informing them whether or not the scholarship was available and accepted. If they meet the criteria as listed in this post, the only reason for a decline will be numbers exceeding 1000.

Ready, set, GO!

Bring them, Lord!

I’m honored to do ministry with you, Siestas. Isn’t this a blast?

I love you dearly.

Dear Siestas, I have never commented on this blog before but have followed it for years. Please pray with me that my two nieces, Andrea (20) and Alaina (18), would by a work of God attend Passion 2012. Their mama and their auntie can get them there but at this point they would not be willing. The oldest has is unmarried, living with her boyfriend, unemployed and just miscarried for the second time. The youngest is in an inpatient Christian treatment facility in TX. They have loving, Christian parents who are not perfect, but raised them to know and love Jesus. We are all heartbroken and desperate for Jesus to work in their lives. Thank you so much.

    Oh Miss Beth,
I am so excited!! I have already tweeted and posted this blog to my facebook!! I lead a collegiate girls bible study and I have been encouraging them to go to Passion2012 but the answer is consistently, “no money…” I’m so thrilled to show this precious blogpost to them!
This will be my third Passion event as a volunteer on the Intercession Team…what an honor to be a doorholder (Psalm 84:10) for this next generation! I will see you in ATL, Lord-willing!

Oh my goodness! Praise God for the opportunity to go to Passion! This has been a dream of mine for the past few years, but I couldn’t afford to go. And JESUS provided! Thank you so much Beth and LPM. Sweet Siestas, you bless my heart. I was just sitting here reading some of these comments. How you must make Jesus smile!

We are missionaries in Thailand, we work with campus ministry in Bangkok. Can we submit applications for women from international countries like this? Would airfare be included in scholarship? what about housing for the conference?

    • 57.1
      Lindsee says:

Hi Paula, no airfare or housing is included in the scholarship, just admission to the conference. We hope and pray that if the Lord allows them to go through LPM, He’ll provide the rest of the means to do it through other folks! I hope that makes sense. Blessings!

Well, I’m twice the maximum age to qualify for the scholarship, but you can count on me to be a prayer mom to a participant, so I’ll keep my eyes peeled to this blog for sign-up info. I’m also aiming to make this my shortest, most concise comment ever, so I’m signing off now, hoping that all of you have a blessed day.

I just wanted to thank Living Proof Ministries and you, Beth, for giving me a scholarship to Passion 2012!!! I still cannot believe that I will actually be going. To be able to worship and fellowship with students from not only my country but across the world is absolutely incredible. My one desire is to know God better, for Himself, not what He can do for me. I cannot wait to encounter God and learn about His word and how He can work through me for the good of His kingdom. I am so stoked!

    Shelly Story says:

    Hi Miss Beth,
I’m super excited about the Passion scholarship, and if you’ll indulge me, I’ll tell you why. It’s kind of one of those “small world” stories, I think. I attended LPL in Lincoln, Nebraska back in June with a group of 8 ladies. On Saturday, you came to the audience, as you always do, and asked us what had resonated with us the night before. You stopped to talk to a young gal who told you that she had just recently come to Christ after the death of her best friend. (I don’t know if you remember, but I hope you do) That young gal’s name is Kailee, and I was sitting directly in the row behind her, hoping that you would have picked me to speak into your mic. But I was instantly glad that you chose Kailee-you have no idea how good it was for her. In fact, just last night at our women’s ministry Bible study night–we are doing Here & Now, There & Then–she turns to me and says, “I actually SPOKE to Beth!”, to which I quipped back “Oh, yea, well I actually HUGGED her!” I think we both are blessed. Anyway, back to the story, after LPL ended that day, I and my mother-in-law Lois (the Lois whose mother was Eunice!) were the only ones from our group of 8 who came to the special Siesta time back stage, because we were the only blog readers in our gorup. But after we reappeared with our friends, just beaming at having had our photo taken with you and having hugged you, Kailee immediately started pumping us for information on where we had been. Naturally, we told her. And she naturally wanted to become an immediate Siesta. Which she has. And naturally she loves the blog, as do I. Which finally brings me to the exciting part: Kailee texted me this morning that she has already been awarded one of these Passion scholarships!!

And yesterday was one year to the date that she came to Christ!

My dear Siesta Mama, God is so worthy. Thank you for making His name known across the generations. We love you.

Shelly, that is so, so cool. We are so excited! God is SO into the details, is He not?

      • Shelly Story says:

Oh, He is indeed. If you could tell Beth to read the story I shared, it would make my night. (Or day, depending on when she reads it. :)) I don’t necessarily expect her to respond, but I do wonder if she will remember Kailee, or my MIL Lois whose mother is Eunice, from LPL in Lincoln. My only claim to recognition with Beth is that they are both dear to me, but I truly want her to know how God is working here.
I’m rambling. Thanks again, and welcome to LPM! 🙂

    Carolyn says:

Beth! I’m so excited to hear this! I go to Passion City Church in Atlanta and have volunteered at five Passion conferences over the years and you’re right, it’s life changing! What God has put on your heart here could change so many young women’s lives! Thank you!

I wanted to inquire to see if the sponsorship might include a young girl in SPAIN who is a good friend from our mission trips there that we’ve done through Buckhead Church (where I also go)? Is that possible? She is 20 and have never been before and we were actually JUST wondering what we could do to get her here! Her dad is a missionary and the preacher at a church that partners with Buckhead Church, over in Sevilla, Spain, so they really don’t have the money to get her here. Please let me know if that’s a possibility? Thanks Beth. YOu’re so loved here in Atlanta!

Hi Mama Beth and Lindsee! I saw the post yesterday, and immediately thought of one of my friends… I called her immediately and encouraged her to apply, and she received the scholarship!! I am SOO thankful!! I can only imagine what God’s going to do! 😀 I am just slightly out of that age range and have always wanted to go, so I am planning on signing up to volunteer so we can go together. We’re still looking to God to help us w/ transportation and lodging, but we’re excited about seeing Him provide. Thank you SOOOO much LPM for making this opportunity available for these young women! 🙂

It was at the conference last year I completely fell in love with Jesus, and have committed to carrying His name since! If you haven’t been and are the right age- GO! Hi Beth! Just reading your blog today (Sept.20th), because it’s my birthday and wanted to hear some good words. Well, of course, I did. I will definitely pray for those scholarships for the young women to go to the Passion gathering. Sounds great and I will check out that site for further input. I just wanted to share my birthday blessings for today: Check out Isaiah Chapters 60-62! Just beautiful to hear His Word…”the Lord has anointed me…clothed with robe of justice…bride bedecked with jewels”. (And I’m 57 now! Makes me feel young and beautiful!) His Word/s in these verses reminds me of His Love and calling me forth to sharing my talents in the written word. I will be working on that now, as I feel He is calling me forth. Have a beautiful day and Happy Birthday to others who may be celebrating this week also! “Before you were born I knew you, before the daystar like the dew, I have begotten you…”

Thank you so much for your obedience. Beth Moore, you inspire me so much. I know that it is only through God that you do all you do, but you have inspired me to really dig into the word. I’ve been learning my memory verses all year and literally really do crave being in the word. You have influenced this heavily, so I THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Cheryl says:

When I saw Beth’s tweet about this scholarship event the other night, God immediately brought a young woman named Beth to my mind. I sent her a message through FB with a link to the video & told her to register ASAP. It was late when I sent the message so she didn’t get it until Tues morning. She signed up immediately & called me when she got an email confiming her registration & said she should hear something within 72 hours. When I got up this morning(Wed.) I had several missed calls from Beth. I just got off the phone with her & she said she had received an email stating that she was “headed to the Ga. Dome!”
    We are both beyond excited!
As her former PW, I’ve seen this young woman make her decision to live her life for Christ. I’ve watched as she has stood strong in the fact that she is redeemed from your former life of bad decisions despite what everyone in a very small town believes about her. And I’ve seen her cling to her faith in the midst of tragically losing her 18 year old brother.
I have no doubt that attending Passion 2012 will be monumental in her walk with her Redeemer.
I cannot express the depth of my gratitude to you, Beth & the Living Proof Staff for this opportunity
As I always say & I mean it with every fiber of my being, I dearly love y’all!
My SSMT verses for Set. 15 & Oct 1 are so appropriate:
To him who is able to keep you from falling & to present you before his his presence WITHOUT fault & with great joy- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power & authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now & forevermore! Amen. Jude 1:24-25 (my emphasis added)

Thank you from the bottom of a momma’s heart. We just found out that my daughter got one of the scholarships to the Passion conference. To say it is a blessing is like saying we love sweet tea in the south! I can’t begin to thank you enough for what this ministry is doing. Have no doubt that it is life changing. Thanks, thanks and thanks again!!

    Lindsee!

I rarely comment on here but I loved your post! Envy is evil, i know, but i am SOOOOOO envious of all of you that work in such a Christian, fun, eating, loving environment! This would be my dream job!! God placed you right where you deserve to be!! I’m so happy for you! By the way, I do have a very handsome, available son if you need help, i doubt it!! But, you are too precious! What kind of mom would I be if I didn’t tell you about him. Yes, he graduated from college and does not need help, just like you! keep up the posts!

I’m committed to praying for these 1000 women. Eleven years ago while in college, I was blessed to be part of the event called ONE DAY that Passion did in Memphis Tn. I still have very vivid memories and know specifically how God changed my life through one day. Upon arrival, I was sitting in the second seat of the bus, I guess I thought by sitting in the front I would get there sooner. I was so excited. When we first got on the property where the event was held we stopped and were told that someone would come on the bus to pray with us…and next thing I see is the beautiful blond head of big hair coming up the steps of our bus…Beth, I still remember what you spoke on that weekend! I feel privaleged to be a part through Prayer! I Love you too!
