Passion 2012: One Thousand Women

Hey, Everybody! I hope you’ll have a chance to watch the video about something exciting God has placed upon our hearts at Living Proof but I wanted to make sure that you also have the information confirmed here in writing. Questions are usually answered better in print and I want this to be so clear that we can respond to God with tremendous praise and prayer.

Many of you are familiar with the Passion Conferences that God has used wildly among 18-25 year-olds for well over a decade. (If you’re not, see 268generation.com to learn all about it. You’ll love it.) God placed the vision in the faithful hands of Louie and Shelley Giglio and they have continued a long obedience in the same direction to see God’s name and renown become the desire of many hearts in the rising generations. God has shown outlandish favor on these events and He alone knows exactly why but this is the feeling that I get every time I observe a Passion gathering: He likes it. He likes coming to it. He likes brooding over it. He likes filling it. His glory is jealously guarded and His fame is generously spread. God also has the open invitation to reach into lives at one of the most strategic seasons of all. At what age are people more inclined to make completely life-altering plans and decisions?

Imagine what would happen if God completely captivated thousands of lives in that 18-25 year range and ruined them for settling for less than God had in mind when He created them. What if nothing less than the flagrant fame of Jesus Christ became their life ambition? That’s what has happened thousands of times over at Passion Conferences through the years. At these events, the wholly surrendered life in Christ is captured for what it really is: the most exhilarating adventure available for human flesh and blood. It is the offer to live for something so much greater. It is the offer for a life that matters here long after we’ve vacated this planet.

Last year at Passion 2011, Louie announced that God had challenged him to ask for the Georgia Dome for Passion 2012 (January 2-5 in Atlanta). That means we don’t have to sell out of seats and can open the doors to tens of thousands more. We were ecstatic. Within that first 24 hours, God moved on my heart to sponsor 1000 young women to attend in 2012.

1000 women who’d never been before.

1000 women who could not otherwise go.

I’ve waited all these months to tell you about it and, finally, the time is right. These next couple of months will be the time frame for the conference to climb on the radar of many young lives. LPM is launching this 1000 Women campaign in your honor and we would love to do it with your participation through prayer. It is my great hope that you would take ownership over the campaign, too, and get completely involved. What could be more fitting than for a women’s ministry to sponsor young women to attend something that has the very real potential to change the course of their lives and the rhythm of their hearts?

Here’s how the eligibility works for these 1000 scholarships. Each applicant must meet the following requirements (and, so sorry, but no exceptions!):
*A woman between the ages of 18 and 25. (Next week you’ll see that we are going to issue a challenge to other ministries, churches, and organizations and hopefully many of them will also scholarship young men. God seemed very clear in His leadership that our 1000 LPM scholarships were supposed to be entirely for women. It’s a form of mentoring and mothering, so to speak, as we seek to be intentional in investing in the next generation according to Scripture.)

*She has never attended a Passion gathering before. (This does not include concerts. I’m just talking about an actual Passion gathering on this prerequisite.)

*She would be completely unable to attend without a scholarship. In other words, if the young woman or her parents can come up with the money – even if sacrificially – let’s please retain these 1000 scholarships for others who cannot.

If this is resonating with you, here’s how you can get involved:

*Help get the word out to young women who meet the exact criteria for the LPM scholarships to Passion 2012. Please think about those who could not attend otherwise.

*Start praying for the event right away. These are tomorrow’s leaders and they will powerfully impact our lives as well as those who come up behind them. Also be watching for an opportunity to “adopt” one of our scholarship recipients to pray for throughout the event. We will give you an official way to sign up as an intercessor for a specific recipient after our scholarships are largely filled and we’ll also suggest some ways to direct your prayers. Look for these sign-ups to pop up here on the LPM blog in November but I will keep you very up to date on the progress of our 1000 Women campaign as we go.

And that’s all there is to it! You’re such a gracious people that I already know up front that some of you will ask if you can give financially toward this fund. If God undeniably presses that upon your heart, you are welcome to. (It would be part of our Siesta Scholarship Fund.) HOWEVER, we have already joyfully made the financial commitment at LPM and we are not asking for any donations. Since we’re deeply committed to these 1000 scholarships, if you do have extra dollars in your pocket in these hard financial times, we’d more readily suggest that you go out there and find someone – male or female – of that age group who wants to go to Passion 2012 but can’t afford it. Send them! And, remember that many could use the extra help for travel and lodging. Our 1000 Women campaign is limited to ticket scholarships and not for further expenses, as much as I wish we could do the whole megillah.

You game?? Wooohoooo! ME, TOO!!!!!

Get out there and find those women, Siestas! Here is the link for scholarship registration. Make sure they know the qualifications! All applicants need to go through this link for Passion 2012 scholarships. It is a separate feature that we’ve created in partnership with the Passion staff. Applicants will receive an email confirmation directly from Passion, letting them know that they have received the scholarship application and that it is being processed. Within a matter of days, they will receive another email informing them whether or not the scholarship was available and accepted. If they meet the criteria as listed in this post, the only reason for a decline will be numbers exceeding 1000.

Ready, set, GO!

Bring them, Lord!

I’m honored to do ministry with you, Siestas. Isn’t this a blast?

I love you dearly.

Yes yes yes!!! I was so excited when you told me and my BFF about this in Columbus; so happy it’s here! We will be there and I’m already praying for these princesses that will be sponsored. May He turn their whole lives upside down through this event like He did mine the first time I went. May He blow the wind of His Spirit over their lives so they’ll never be the same. May they know His love more deeply and surely than ever.

      Carole Anne says:

My sentiments exactly, Virginia! 🙂 MUST share with you, Beth et al: I asked our church’s music minister last weekend if we could add a Travis Cottrell song to a future service. He said no, that Travis and his music are “too old” and “too difficult”. When he asked in all his 29 year-old wisdom why I was doubled over in laughter, I stood up, looked him in the eye and answered,

      “Travis is MY age.”

Ohh Mrs Beth! I have to say this is absolutely amazing. I just feel lead to share with you my Passion story. I am 20 years old and last year was my first year at passion and Jesus absolutely rocked my world. I attended church my entire life and never understand the love of Jesus. I was so bound up in a life of religion that I never realized what Jesus had done for me. I experienced the love of Jesus for the first time at Deeper Still in Birmingham, Al ( December 2010) when you spoke and then I attended Passion in January. I can honestly say that Jesus completely rocked my world at Passion 2011. I was looking for my purpose and last year when you spoke at the girls only break out session the first thing you said was I just love events. And you said it again at this video. The Lord spoke to me through your sweet words to show me that my place to serve was on the events team at a new church that the Lord also lead me to in January! Also through your message about beneath the desires of your heart is the heart of your desires, the Lord ignited the flame in my heart to help serve high school and middle school girls! I know help lead a small group of girls and I just love them. I know that Jesus has allowed Passion to make a huge impact in my life and I am so grateful that you feel so strongly about helping girls to go!I know that I am one girl who has completely been changed through this ministry and I am praying for the 1,000 others who will attend for the first time this year thanks to you! Thank you Mrs. Beth for all that you do I just love you! 🙂

    Mrs. Beth,
I can’t begin to tell you how I just about shouted for joy here in the little quiet library at my college. I’m going to start tweeting and emailing this link. My prayer for the past two years is that I can somehow help someone else go to Passion because my ticket was given to me by complete strangers in 2010. To say that it was a life-altering experience would be an understatement. God just broke me with a huge wrecking ball and I haven’t been the same since, nor do I want to be! Each day is a challenge.
To anyone who knows little about Passion & is reading this – it’s huge, yes. Sometimes that’s a bit unnerving – to have so many young people in one place. But I promise you that God does a mighty work. It’s not one of those “youth camps” where you just go and have an awesome time and come back the same. It’s a place you can’t help but come back changed by. Life-altering. Worth it. Needed.
    Praying so much.

My children attended their first Passion conference back in 2004 and it strengthened both of their walks with the LORD!

How exciting this is that you are setting up these scholarships! If you get more applicants than scholarships that you have available, please let us Siestas know so we may have the chance to sponsor someone’s attendance as well!

I am also excited to be able to attend your Living Proof Live Event in Baltimore in 2 weeks. Please tell me how to meet up with other siestas there!

God Bless you and your wonderful ministry!

      Hi, Phyllis!
You just ‘connected’ with this Siesta! I’m in Fairfax, VA, but am planning on being in Baltimore in two weeks! YAY! If you’re on facebook, look up Jennifer Tricarico (Jennifer Cummings). We’ll find a way to meet up. I’m praying a friend can come with me, but if not I’m having my date with Jesus “solo.” 🙂

LPM – I know two uh-ma-ZING young women who attended past Passion Conferences. This offer is wonderful and I am praying for the precious ones He will send through you! He is so good. Actually, I’m gonna post the info on my fb page as well.

      LOVE YOU ALL!

    Marcia Bronson says:

Count me in on praying for this, Beth! I’ll be praying for the Lord to connect LPM with the 1000 young women He wants to go to Passion 2012 via these scholarships! I already posted a link to this blog on my facebook page for the 18-25 year old women I know.

  16. 16

Wow! I’ve been to Passion several years as a volunteer with Community Groups and have brought high school seniors and college students so I am SO VERY EXCITED to share this opportunity with some young women who may not have the financial means to go!!! What can God do with 1000 young women impacted and launched for His purposes?!

    Dear Beth,
I so enjoyed watching your LPL simulcast in Cocoa, FL. Again, I was blown away by the personal relevance and significance of your message! You have always touched my heart! I used to think that, if I ever made it to Houston, I would be going there to see YOU! But, my elderly aunt asked me to fly to Houston for the weekend of Oct. 29, 2011 to go with her to see an event at Joel O’Steen’s church. This is her dream, and I am happy to experience it with her. I admit feeling some guilt for my disappointment that it won’t be a Beth weekend, yet I understand that I am being sent out of state to hear God’s message with my beloved aunt–whom I rarely see due to the distance between our homes–for a reason. Here’s another miracle. My husband, who doesn’t attend church, is giving me his Delta SkyMiles and Hilton points, so that the trip will be free for me to enjoy. I am only staying two days Post Oak. I am a teacher, and I must get back to my class. God has miraculously worked out the details for this brief weekend visit. You, through your teaching, brought spiritual PASSION to me, so that I could discover my Father and His love! You, through sharing your stories, have helped me to heal and be a stronger sister in Christ. I just needed a way to tell you that I’d be seeing Texas for the first time…thinking of you…and making sure I have “big hair.” Love You, Beth!

    Katie Ericson says:

Ten years ago I attended a Passion event. I was a junior in high school and I didn’t think about this memory until you started talking about Passion and 268 generation. This event was very soon after the 911 attack, so talk about a generation in question during this event. I remember that we started the event by singing “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” Who could think of a better picture in our mind that the one that that moment brought us. God wrapped his arms around us and comforted us in ways nothing else in the world could. I am a huge supporter of Passion events and can’t wait to see what he does in the year of 2012.

    Naomi says:

Thank you for reminding us about this conference. I have been praying that God will allow my two kids (boy and girl) to go to the 2012 conference. I am believing God for a great work in their lives. As children they were dedicated to the Lord, and now as teens they need His touch to transform their lives into a man and a woman after God’s own heart. I am so excited to see them go. Please pray for our family. We are in a new city, with lots of new things being added to our lives. We need God’s sustaining grace surrounding us in this transition. Thank you Beth, for providing this opportunity for the girls to go.

    Dear Beth,
I will post about this tomorrow on my blog and help spread the word. Imagine what God will do with these 1000 lives?!?! And even more – the stories of how these women got to the event!

A few weeks ago someone from church asked me to be a group leader for the Beloved Disciple (Following John) Bible study. At first I said no. I have 4 children ages 7 and under and felt I had too much on my plate. But then I decided to pray about it, and put all of my own desires aside, and asked God to lead me in my decision. The sermon at church the following Sunday was on being in community and groups with other Christians. I changed my mind and decided to take on being the group leader at the Ladies’ Bible class.

On the first day of class last week I shared my story with my group on how I felt God had led me to do the Bible class. 5 out of 9 women in our group went around and shared how they too had decided not to do the class, but felt pulled to come and changed their minds. Not only did God tug at us to change our minds, but He placed us all at the same table!

I just know that God is going to do the same for these 1000 women for the Passion Conference. He will choose each woman by name and orchestrate ways for them to come. And what amazing stories that will be!!

I will pray for this event and for the women whose lives will be changed, and I will spread the word on my blog tomorrow!

    Betty says:

Beth, I just wanted to let you know how today’s lesson blessed my heart and probably saved my marriage and our home. We, ladies, at Arkadelphia Baptist Church, are doing the bible study with you on “Believing God”. Today, session 4, you were sharing something from you book “When godly People Do Ungodly Things” the man and woman in the story were uncomfortably similar to our story….to make a short story shorter, I resolved, on the way home to forgive my husband and to love him like never before. This is my fourth bible study with you, and I always know God is going to change my life somehow. Thankyou for being obedient to serve Him….love, Betty

    Midge Edmond says:

Such an amazing gift for such a fantastic opportunity!! I was a volunteer last year and it was such an incredible blessing! Since the event was oversold we volunteers were not able to be in any of the messages, but we were exhilarated by the Spirit that pervaded the whole event. These young people were so obviously committed to being there and all that was offered to them. So many special moments: young people in the hotel lobby at 6 am studying the word, 20000+ young people walking silently praying from the speaker’s event to their prayer groups; young people thanking the volunteer’s over and over for being there to help them and young people praying for each other in small groups. Such a blessing to see these future leaders giving their Christmas break to learn more about our Jesus!!! So excited for these 1000 blessed young women!

    Hello!

I am so excited to have found out about this scholarship program for Passion 2012. I’ve always wanted to attend a Passion Conference, but just never had the opportunity to go due to location and cost. I’m from Vancouver and my way of taking part in the Passion Conferences in the past was through LiveLink! I meet all the requirements listed. This is my last year of eligibility as I am now 25. I have just been appointed as Youth Pastor at my church and I believe whatever lessons I learn from Passion, I can pass on to my youth and get them fired up to be a 268 generation!

If you could please consider me, I would love to be granted the opportunity to attend Passion 2012 live, what a blessing that would be!

    Thank You,
    Laarni

    Beth or Lindsee –

Quick question – does the scholarship cover all expenses of the trip or just conference registration? We have some wonderful college women involved in Campus Ventures through-out SD and Wyoming that may be interested in attending, but from this distance, travel expenses would be the larger expense. Thanks!

      Lindsee says:

Hi Laura, the scholarship covers just the conference registration. Our challenge to other folks is that if they felt led, they might help out with the other costs. I hope that is helpful!
