A Good Morning and a Rapid City LPL Giveaway!

OK, you guys made me so hungry with all your recipes that I could have eaten my own arm off. That was so much fun! I’m going to narrow my choices down at the first of next week and I also plan to keep going through the recipes over the Christmas holidays. I can’t express to you how much your participation blesses my life and watching you relate to one another is right up there with the best parts. My life is so much richer with you in it.

Michelle and I have our suitcases packed and we’re heading up to Rapid City, South Dakota for this weekend’s Living Proof Live. We are going in a day early because it takes several flights to get there and our arrival time on Friday would have left no time for a delay. A cancellation (sadly not unusual) would have been pretty catastrophic. As it is, we’ll fly out before noon today and get there tonight. I am super excited though. I can tell you in advance this will be one of my favorite groups ever. (I’m not sure I’ve said that many times before, come to think of it.) Travis, the team and I LOVE North and South Dakota. We have story after story and memory after memory from those two great States. Oh, how we pray Jesus will show up so powerfully and do such depth of ministry, restoration, and reconciliation that we remember it forever. I have said so many times that I believe in “events.” I believe that something can happen when we get away from our usual surroundings and go, in effect, to a “high mountain apart” with Jesus. (Matthew 17) Right there weย  can see Him transfigured in such a way that marks our entire estimation of Him. Yes, those kinds of fresh revelations can happen any day and even amid our usual routine but there’s nothing quite like saying, “I’m going to spend the weekend with Jesus and I’m not coming home without Him.” I don’t think He ever turns us away empty handed when we determine to seek Him with that kind of tenacious spirit.

Anybody want to come to Rapid City for Living Proof Live this Friday and Saturday but lack the money for a ticket? Oh, please call us and come! My beloved coworker Kimberly told me a few weeks ago when we were in Spokane that some of the women who got free tickets to the event literally cried on the phone. (You don’t need to do that for us to appreciate the privilege though. Grin.) It moved me so deeply and even now I could get a lump in my throat over it. I want you to know that these free tickets are gifts from this entire blog community. Several years ago we established the Siesta Scholarship Fund and you cannot fathom all the tickets and materials and scholarships that have gone out of our office through the provision. We laughed yesterday that God seems to treat it like the widow’s jar of oil in the Old Testament. We can’t seem to use it up. I believe He has honored it.

So, if you’d like to come but can’t manage the cost of the ticket right now, there are 20 comps just waiting to be claimed. Call Living Proof Ministries at 1-888-700-1999 during work hours today or tomorrow and talk to either Kimberly or Susan. Remember that Houston is Central Standard Time when you place your call.

The entire staff of Living Proof Ministries is blessed beyond measure to serve you and every single one of us considers you a huge priority. The word “Siestas” is said multiple times around our offices every single week. (In fact, we’ve got something fun in the works for you right now that I’m excited to tell you about but that will have to wait. I’ll just keep you wondering.)

OK, gotta get to the airport! I love you, Girls.

Your blog mama.

I’ve been checking the blog every.single.day. this week waiting to see that title “Rapid City”! That’s ME! The place I call home (well Spearfish is home)! I’m so excited Beth! So excited that I could scream…or cry…or even pee my pants! It’s going to be powerful and amazing – I just know it!

I have been praying for you and Travis and the team. Can’t wait to hear the Lord speak a fresh word through you to us all. Come, Lord Jesus, come!

    Beth,

We can’t wait to see you!!!! There’s nothing better than sharing worship and the study of God’s Word with a precious sister, or maybe 3000 precious sisters.

So glad you are not taking the risk of traveling the day of! Glenn Beck from FOX News came to Rapid City for a conference a few weeks ago and his flight delays set back the starting time of the conference. I have been praying fervently since then that the LPL conference wouldn’t have a similar experience.

My good friend, Connie, whom I haven’t seen for 4 years has flown in from Michigan so we can go to the conference together. She has known since May that the Lord specifically wanted her to go to THIS conference. I am eager to see what precious words He has for Connie, and for the rest of us, too.

    See you tomorrow!

      Rebecca says:

      Michele dear,
How are you doing? Keeping you in my prayers. Let me how it is going for you….Rebecca

      • Michele says:

Oh Rebecca, thanks for caring. It has been a difficult week, I’ve been very depressed. Trying to lean into God. I know He is here and in control. It just hurts right now, which is to be expected I guess.

        • Amber Moon says:

Michele I’m so sorry you’re hurting. My family went through the same thing last year. We had to put my Mom’s chocolate lab down the day after Christmas, 2009 and it was the hardest day I’ve experienced in a long time. So many tears were shed during the week or two leading up to that dreadful event. That evening though, I saw the most beautiful sunset I’ve EVER seen in my 30 years on this earth. I just new our sweetheart was up there chasing tennis balls! Remember the good times Michele and just trust in God! Your siestas love you!

          • Rebecca says:

            Michele,
I have been chasing you on the blog for the last week. I hope you don’t think I am a stalker ๐Ÿ™‚ I am glad to see you back writing to us siestas. We care if I can speak for some of us.

I just found out I may lose my job due to cut backs and I am very angry at God. This is my life story. And it always comes at Christmas. But as I said I am very glad you are back and we can support each other!! Take care of yourself….Rebecca

          • Michele says:

Amber, just the other morning I had a dream that I was sitting with my Cindy and Snickers, a chocolate lab who was her dog-bff when they were young. He died years ago and I hadn’t thought of him in a long time. I was nice to wonder if Cindy and Snickers are together again.

Rebecca, no, you’re not a blog-stalker, haha. I check in here often, and believe it or not I try to limit what & how much I write, because I don’t want to be taking individual attention away from the great community that Beth has built here.

I understand your feelings about your job, I lost mine over 2 years ago. I hope that you don’t end up losing your job, but if you do, try to remind yourself that God is in control, he has a plan, and he will provide for all your needs.

I recently started a blog, any of you are welcome to come visit me there anytime.

            Michele, Sorry for your loss,
            But as Beth would say:

            ” Of course they are”

            Cindy and Snickers reunite.

    Rachel says:

Praying for a wonderful event in Rapid City!

I forgot to tell you that one of the only things holding me back from attending the Spokane event was the cost of the ticket. I prayed about it and knew that God wanted me to go anyway (and that there were other people who needed comp tickets, not me) and I finally decided that the price was totally worth it and I’d let God take care of the rest.

Well, when my mom and I arrived at the arena we didn’t have our tickets so we went over to the table to purchase them. We weren’t sure where to go and as we walked up a lady said, “Anyone buying tickets?” so we went that way to buy one. She handed me one of those green bracelets and said, “Here, our friend can’t make it.” I offered to pay for it and she said, “No, just enjoy it!” So my mom and I split the price of the other and got to be there for half price. What a blessing!

    Kathy says:

Safe travels to you and your team! I live in Pierre, SD and have been looking forward to this event for ages. My daughter’s first birthday is on Saturday so I get to experience two amazing things that day: spending time with you and our God and then heading home to celebrate my baby’s milestone! I hope you get to do something fun in the Hills with the little extra time you have here.

    Tami Fite says:

Oh sweet Beth and Travis, I am so excited to be there when Jesus shows up in the Civic Center in Rapid City! The Lord has been redeeming and refining my life for the past 4 years since the Sioux Falls LPL in September of 2006! I was the Mephibosheth that you taught about needing to come to the table. God’s word does not return void, AMEN. And now 4 years later I am coming with my newborn daughter after being barren for 8 years. I cannot wait to worship our providential God with my sweet Chloe and allow the Holy Spirit to wash us both afresh with the Trinity’s sweet presence. May you be blessed as you all travel.

Mama Beth I will be lifting you in prayer this weekend. How lucky those ladies in South Dakata are!

I could use the prayers of all my siestas as well. I’m speaking at an all girls retreat this weekend and so desperately want the Lord to use me to speak to these young girls and for them to know just how much their Heavenly Father loves them! Pray that I can pull it all together and that God would meet with us while we’re there. I always say, “God take me out of this equation and just speak through me.” May it be so!!

    I would be so grateful!

One of the biggest blessings i’ve received from The Father has been the priviledge of watching ‘my ladies’ minister to each other every sunday evening while we do our Bible study discussion. I can only imagine how you feel, Siesta Mama, to witness it among thousand(s) of women. It is humbling and overwhelming that God allows me to witness His love in action.
Just this past tuesday we had the celebration get-together for the end of Breaking Free. I came home and bawled like a baby to my husband (who is NOT a believer) about the goodness of our Lord. All Praise to Him!

Beth, may your travels be safe, and your spirit light. May you be filled with the spirit and continue that beautiful message of our ONE’ness as the Lord leads you. Many blessings to all who attend. God is good!

Matthew 17:7…I love this part where it says:
But Jesus came and touched them and said “Arise and do not be afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes they saw no one but Jesus only.
I am praying that Jesus will touch the hearts of the women in Rapid City and they will see Jesus only!
Also, praying especially for you, Beth and your workers.

Please, pray and ask God if He would like for you to come to OKC next year. Every year I think I will be able to go, (it’s in my heart to go). Bless you in Christ.

Jessica, Thanksgiving hasn’t passed and we are still here reading. Do it in Word first and then copy and paste. I would love to read your recipe. Hang in there Siesta!

And I agree with you that Beth has what it takes, but Jessica, you do TOO! You lack no spiritual gift–not a single one. Especially note verse 5, 7 and 8. Siesta, you got what it takes too, even if you aren’t aware of it or if you are, but are discouraged at this spot along the way. Girl, you got what it takes!

1Co 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1Co 1:4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,
1Co 1:5 that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge–
1Co 1:6 even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you–
1Co 1:7 so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Co 1:8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    Beth-
First off…I want you and Travis and the entire LPM team to know that I whole-heartedly believe in your events also. I was at your LPM event in Fargo last year, and Oh how HE moved mountains in my life! But it was truly by the grace of God that I was there…I was trying to figure out if I could afford it and had been praying all week…and I knew if he wanted me there…he would take me….and he did…I got the call on the Wednesday evening from our dear counselor at our church that she had stumbled upon a free ticket and knew that God had ordained it for me….indeed He did!
Anywho- what I really meant to say was the other day amidst all of our AMAZING recipes I noted a comment about your LPM in SD this weekend, and I immediately hopped on and checked out where you were…and I realized you were in Rapid City….my husband and I drove near that area on our way to our hunting trip in Wyoming and how my heart desires to be with you, but how the Lord has something else planned for our weekend, but I want you to know that as we drew nearer and nearer to Rapid City I prayed and prayed for you and your team, as well as all of the women (and brave men) who will be in the Lord’s presence with you this weekend! I praise God for the work He has ordained for you….my life is so changed by you and your ministry. Simply put…I love you my dearest Siesta Mama.

    In His Glorious Name,
    Andrea

    Oh, Beth,
I could just cry!!! My daughter and I were planning on coming to Rapid City to see you but the weather sound awful for us. We are in a winter storm warning for this weekend. It would be a 7 1/2 hr drive one way for us and there are long stretches on that road where there is nothing! No towns no farm steads nothing! I know! a girl friend and I were stranded on that highway in Aug on a 100 degree day with two horses and a flat tire. Not fun!!! We are now planning on buying tickets next month for your Eden Prairie Mn venue next May. That is a 10 hr drive one way but the weather will be nice and we wana shop at the Mall!!! I hope and pray for a great time there and nice weather in Rapid City. I pray you get to ND again soon. I am dying to hug your neck!!! Hugs from the HeartLand, Betty M

  38. 38

Oh Beth, this is an area SO dear to my heart. My husband, three children and myself go each June to serve the Lakota Sioux Indians at Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. If you have the opportunity to find out more info about the conditions there, please do. We will be going out again in June and I always encourage everyone I know to try and help these poor lost people in any way possible. Love and safe travels!

Praying heaping blessings on the weekend.

    Love and hugs,
    Adrienne

  40. 40

I just looked at the weather because Melana said there is ice between her and Rapid City. Praying she is able to make it with her daughter and Miesta Moose. But seriously, it’s 20 degrees right now. TWENTY. Wind chill of 5. And snow in the forecast for tomorrow. I hope Beth took her long-johns because I guarantee that Houston gal ain’t used to single digit wind chill.

Seriously praying for safe travel for all who are going. And for heaven’s sake, it doesn’t matter where you sit. DO NOT stand in line outside when it’s that cold.

I am working for the first time in 20 years. I am very organized, my boys say OCD. They are breaking in me in slowly at the office which means that I am finished with my work by 9:00. I have never been one to spend a lot of leisure time on the computer but since I have so much now I found your website and have been reading them from 2007 forward. What a blessing! Both my boys are off at college for the first time and this has really been an encouragement. Thank you.

OH! I would, I would, you know I would be there! I’ve driven to Colorado to see you, and I would drive to S.D. to see you, but…
It’s National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child, and I’m the Area Coordinator for SouthEastern Wyoming (where I live) so I must be faithful to my ministry.
Oh! Sad to miss you, but happy to be involved with a minstry that I love so much!
(Siesta’s, have you packed your shoebox yet?)

      Texas in the Mountains,
Just wanted to say thank you for pouring your heart into such an amazing ministry! May God bless you over and over for it! My father-in-law is the area coordinator for the Black Hills area and my husband and I promote the ministry at our church. Our church filled nearly 600 boxes and we too will be busy loading them into a trailer this weekend! So excited to think of the precious children that will be touched with Christ’s love this Christmas season!

I’ll get the blessing of seeing Beth too though :).

      • Texas in the Mountains says:

Aww, THANKS Marcy! I receive that blessing! It is a priviledge to serve such an amazing ministry. And I have been chosen to recieve the greatest honor from OCC. Your father-in-law will know what I’m talking about…
Bless you for YOUR faithful service!
Rapid City is a 7 hour drive for me, and none of it on interstate! ๐Ÿ™
I pray you would receive manna from heaven from your weekend w/ our Mama!

Yes, We have packed our Operation Christmas Child shoebox and we have taken it to the dropping off place nearby. Our small church collected 18 boxes this year.
Heard so many testimonies over the radio this week how it is a blessing to these kids and their families.
Thank you for all you do for the Lord!

We’re packing boxes at our church! But what was so special is a young teenage girl (Rebecca) took it on herself to run the show and she has reached the whole community! She even ran an ad in the paper! Me and the kids each packed our own box, 5 total. May the children who open them Find Jesus!

    Dear Beth,

I realize you’re off for the weekend, so this may get to you late.

In thinking about you going out to speak to the women again, I’m sharing the column with you that ran this week because it fits so exactly with what you’re up to.

It started as a post on my own blog after a morning of writing at the coffee shop. Watching the flow of humanity ebbing in and out of its doors, I was deeply moved.

“Everyone has a story.” That’s the message Jesus gave me that day. So I wrote about it. When it generated surprising emotion in many readers, I knew that it was meant for a larger audience, and so it went into the column.

That truth, combined with the little daily prayer, “Ordain all of my appointments,” has been touching people far beyond what this one little housewife could orchestrate.

It’s encouraged many others. I thought it might encourage you as well.

Rhonda–Thank you so much for posting the link that allowed me to enjoy your column. What a blessing!! I have believed for quite some time that “Everyone has a story.” How true this is and what a wonderful message from Jesus—thank you so much for sharing. I will pray daily now, “ordain all of my appointments.” Thank you so much

Hi My Siesta Sisters. Just need prayer. Our church is going through so much right now. 3 weeks ago our good pastors reached some sort of impass and one of them left causing a split in our church. We have had one suicide and now 2 heart attacks in that same 3 week span. I know whose calling card this is… We are all tired. Please pray that God would protect relationships. I Know Who Wins In the End and I Know He will Use All of This For Good. Just tired right now.
