Jackson Hole – Part 2

Curtis and I marveled at how much Annabeth changed during our two weeks in Wyoming. This picture was taken on the day she started sitting up. She was using her hands but could sit for a long time.

Exactly one week later, when she happened to be wearing the same outfit, she was sitting with no hands. This is such a fun stage! I’m enjoying our last bit of time before she becomes mobile.

This was Annabeth’s first time in a restaurant high chair.

One night after my parents arrived, we had dinner on the deck at Signal Mountain Lodge. After that we walked down to Jackson Lake.

Jackson is embracing his big brother role a little more these days.

This is a picture of one of the cookouts we attended by the river.

Curtis and Annabeth challenged Jackson and his friend in a race.

Annabeth did not enjoy being a track star.

Here’s Baby Girl’s first time in a playground swing. I did not bring her enough cool-weather clothes, so I frequently resorted to pajamas.

One morning our whole family attended a breakfast cookout up on a mountain. Dad and I and joined the trail riders on horseback while Mom and Curtis brought the kids up in a car. We had hot chocolate, eggs, bacon, and pancakes. It was so much fun.

Jackson and his daddy played hide and seek in the town square. Here’s Jackson counting.

Here he is hiding.

A view of the Tetons from near our place.

Mt. Moran might be my favorite.

A deer in the river by our cabin.

The Sleeping Indian. Can you see him?

One day we visited Jenny Lake. You do not want to miss it if you ever visit Jackson Hole.

We took a shuttle boat across the lake to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point.

Looking up at the mountain from the boat.

Here’s what we hiked to see.

We – mainly Jackson – got soaked on the boat ride back. The water was freezing! Jackson has always loved being splashed with cold water (seriously), so he had a great time. People around us were even trying to take pictures of him because he was so funny.

The pictures you are about to see are from The Greatest Day of Jackson’s Life.

We went to Snow King and did the alpine slide.

The slide was really fun, but I only did it once because the ski lift to the top of it scared me to death. Curt says it isn’t as freaky when there’s snow below you. The Moores aren’t skiers, so I wouldn’t really know.

Then Curtis and I went temporarily insane and let Jackson do the bungee trampoline. You are seeing the highlight of his three-year-old life.

Everyone within a mile heard him squealing.

After that, we had lunch at the Saddle Rock Family Saloon.

The only beer they served was root beer. Oh my word, it was the best ever!

Jackson capped the day off with a horse ride. This is Blizzard, the most chilled out horse known to man. Jackson looked like a baby on top of that big ole animal.

That concludes the Greatest Day of Jackson’s Life.

Here’s a bad picture of some elk in the valley.

This is our favorite pizza place. No visit is complete without it.

It’s our tradition to take a picture on this huge stump before we leave. Right after this, some very sad Joneses got in the car and drove to the airport. Sad, sad, sad.

Thanks for sharing our pictures!

For everyone going to Deeper Still in Orlando this weekend, have an awesome time with Jesus!

I love it that your family is so transparent! Beth (your momma!) is so incredibly awesome and "famous" and yet she seems so real, so down to earth, just like you and Melissa do. I feel like we could so be best friends! Thank you to your family for not hiding away some where for "publicity" sakes, but for sharing your lives with us!

Amanda!! Thank you for writing about Orlando this weekend!! I've sat at my desk all day today with ants in my pants and butterflies in my tummy! I've counted the minutes since I got here this morning~ I'm heading straight for the arena at 5:00 sharp!

This was the first time I've actually been so thoughtful to every last detail of my attire in a looooooong time. I even painted my toenails last night (they'd been yelling at me for a few weeks to get a paint job). My outfit, hair and nails have nothing to do with anyone speaking at the event, I'm sorry to say. I got up this morning anticipating a magical date night with my Heavenly Father ๐Ÿ™‚ I wanted to look especially pretty, just for Him ๐Ÿ™‚ Imagine the warmth in my heart when a wonderful woman standing behind me in line at Starbucks this afternoon told me I looked beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ My heart beamed because I knew exactly who I got ready for this morning ๐Ÿ™‚

Praise Him!!! Only one more hour to go!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, again, these photos make me want to travel to that beautiful part of creation and see it for myself!

Also, every last one of you is stunning. What a BEAUTIFUL family!

AND…I grew up about 10 Miles from an Alpine Slide (the one in Killington, VT) and I was always terrified of it! I still am, actually. I have a picture of my awesome grandmother on the slide when she was in her mid 70s.

Just a few comments for you:

I recognize so many of those places. The few I didn't I've decided we will have to go check out the next time we are there. :o)

Those cabins in the back of your mom & dad is where our family stayed when we went there last year. We ate at Signal Mt. Lodge two or three times. :o) Loved waking up and sitting on the front porch looking at the mountains reflecting on the lake. Loved sharing that with Jesus.

I have to tell you that Annabeth is so stinkin' cute I can barely stand it. LOL

My heart would have been racing at seeing the boys go up that mt in the lift. I could tell Curtis had a good hold on Jackson though. Jackson and Annabeth look like a lot of fun. :o)

Thank you for sharing these. I really enjoyed it & can't wait to go back.

Praying for those going to Deeper Still.

    With much affection,

    Anna

Amanda, Thanks for sharing the great pictures!! My husband and I went to Wyoming for the first time last August. It was so incredible! We stayed at Signal Mountain Inn for several days, then stayed in Yellowstone park. We hiked up to Inspiration Point and took the boat back. We saw a bear up close and personal at Artist's Point in Yellowstone. I can't wait to go back sometime. Maybe with my grandkids! Blessings

Great photos! Now I know where to visit if I get a chance to go out that way.
If you get to Brevard NC and vist the "Cradle of Foresty" go right down the road to Sliding Rock. Wear no jewelry that can be broken, bent or lost in the river.Don't wear a swimsuit.Wear 2 pairs of old jeans you are ready to throw away and old shoes to protect your feet. The jeans will last @2 trips down the rock. It is icy cold even in July. Bring plenty of towels and and extra change of clothes and shoes from the skin out, including a beach towel to change behind. Last time I was there they didn't have changing rooms or they filled up so fast it was easier to make do than freeze waiting. There is a sign "Do this at your on risk". They mean it.

I was reading your post and got to thinking about doors. Over 20 years about when I was working with 5-yr olds, a child saw someone go thru a door.He didn't know the person or what they were doing but he wanted to go thru the door. I tried to explain to him he had to stay with his class. A co-worker,who had more experience, saw the situation asked me what was going on. The she said "Can you move the door?" No "Can you move the child?" Yes. Then she suggested I get him to another part of the classroom and interested in something else. I have found this works in other situations also. Sometimes I just need to change my focus or possibly help someone change theirs.

Amanda, thank you for the dear dear photos and memories of this very special place on earth- My family (my husband and two sons) spent time at Lost Creek Ranch over a decade ago and were deeply touched by those Tetons- My youngest son's horse at the ranch was "Peanut"- of the gentle persuasion- we were there during the Yellow Stone fires and had to evacuate- all the other horses were rounded up and driven to a save place. Peanut was driven via trailer. I could "hear" those Tetons and for me they are the only other physcial place, other than the ocean, that I "hear" as a mighty creation of our God. Again, thank you for so generously sharing with us and brightening our day. I have driven from Austin and attended the first two Houston studies- My Goodness, what a blessing you talented and Christ filled ladies are to me and everyone who has the privilege to be a student of yours- Blessings to you and your loved ones, An Aunt Siesta
