4th of July

Finally! I’m not exaggerating when I say that this post has been five days in the making. We’ve been adding pictures to it slowly. Sorry it’s taken so long! Our family had a blast at the beach in Galveston. It was just the girls from Wednesday through Friday and then the boys joined us for the rest of the weekend. It was everything we hoped it would be. We relaxed, swam, built sand castles, played with hermit crabs, walked along the beach, shopped, laughed, ate Dad’s famous gumbo, watched fireworks from the top deck of the beach house, played games, and enjoyed each others’ company very much. It was a very happy 4th of July!

Our quiet time spot.

Our view from the beach house.

Girls lunch at Willie G’s.

My boys in the waves. We meant to take a lot more beach pictures but it never happened!

Annabeth’s new jammies. They say “Berry Berry Sleepy.”

Baby Girl was very taken with her Auntie.

Mom, Lis and I played a gamed called Whoonu while we were waiting for the boys to arrive. When Melissa excused herself to answer a phone call, Mom and I rigged it so that she would get these cards. We picked 4 things we thought she hated and she had to rate them in order of how much she liked them. We thought we were hilarious. Turns out the joke was on us because apparently my sister loves her some four square. Whoonu? But, having been the second born daughter, she does despise hand-me-downs.

Mom and Dad at the pool.

Jackson has been learning how to swim this summer.

We’ve finally found something that tires him out!

Apparently it tires Annabeth out, too.

Aunt Melissa got Jackson a treat from the ice cream truck and simultaneously became his best friend.

A visit to Galveston is not complete without a meal at Gaido’s. Mom and Dad have been going there since before they got married. We took the opportunity to celebrate Dad’s birthday, which is actually today! Happy birthday, Daddy!

Some fun in our backyard after we got home.

We all missed Colin so much! His presence was the only thing missing from a perfect weekend. But as you can see, he was having no shortage of fun on his getaway with some college buddies. You can probably tell by his fleece jacket that he was nowhere near Texas!ย

It looks like SO much fun! We love to play Whoonu and crack up every time when the cards are placed. My sis and I would fight over clothes while we were still living at home. Iรขโ‚ฌโ„ขm surprised some things didnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt get torn in two! That picture of Annabeth asleep in the float is so adorable!

What a wonderful vacation! I've been looking forward to your photos. We just returned from a trip to St. John in the Virgin Islands. There were 12 of our family members that traveled together and it was a vacation to remember. I posted a picture of 3 generations that love the Lord on my blog today…more to follow tomorrow. There is nothing like making precious memories with family at the beach! Blessings to all of you.

Looks like the perfect way to beat the 104 degree weather we're still having in Texas. It looks like the kids love the water, Annabeth looks incredibly relaxed in her 'tube'!

Gaido's is a favorite of ours, too! We used to go there on special dates before we were married.

Happy Birthday, Keith! Have a super special day. I have a question for you–is it possible that we could have a puma or mountain lion in our backyard in College Station!! Our neighbor saw a 75 lb. black cat crossing our backyard. Said it was as big as his yellow lab! Just curious…!

I'm glad y'all enjoyed your time together, fun memories made!

Melissa – I love you hair wavy.

Really fun! Thanks again for sharing some summer fun with us.

I told my hubby Sunday night that I was really started to freak out because we hadn't heard from you gals in so long. He looked at me like I was nuts and gently reminded me that it was a holiday weekend, but I kept reasurring him, "This is not normal! Vacation or not, they usually post!" ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like a wonderful time!! I am so absolutely tickled that you girls like to play Whoonu!! That's my son's favorite game, and I have a lot of good memories playing it at our various family functions ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks like a wonderful time with family! What beautiful children. We too have found that swimming is one of the very few things that tires out our 4 yr old. We are thinking of investing in a pool, however he is also fearLESS so it could be a bad thing. ;o)

Beth, what a beautiful family you have! Thanks so much for sharing them with us. I must say I was quite envious of all the fun and smiling faces. This is the 1st 4th without my husband who was always a big kid about the 4th, so I just chose to skip it this year. Maybe next year I can get back in the swing of it. Rancho Murieta, where I live, turns into Hokeyville, USA on the 4th and it's wonderful….golf cart parade, pancake breakfast, fireworks show….just not this year for me. Thanks again for sharing yours!!! *hugs*

You all are just gorgeous…loved seeing you in Galveston, esp. after last years devastating hurricane. Looks like they are up and running again there, PTL for answered prayer for the stricken area. ENjoy every moment together. We so wish our kids and grandkids were here with us on our Alaskan adventure. Seeing your pic's made me feel so homesick for them.

Tell Keith they just opened up the Kenai River in Alaska for King Salmon! Neighbors at my cousins here caught 3 big ones yesterday. Our men are raring to go this afternoon, and we've got a big grill ready to go for tonights meal…(here's hoping and praying for a big salmon for dinner)! We really are "Warm in Alaska" because they are having a heat wave. UP to 80 today!
